The bed could have been more comfortable

Close to the ocean. The Bothy restaurant was amazing! Unfortunately there was no live music which was one of the mail reasons we booked there. Staff was great!

Our room was not equipped with space for our personal things such as makeup, no space to put food. Only one chair, we couldn’t even have a drink with our friends in our room. And no full length mirror to check yourself out before leaving the room.

The accommodations, the Bothy experience, the live music, the friendly atmosphere, the workers, the owners:: Colin and Justin are amazing!

I’m not a fussy person.. but I’m short . I could barely see myself in the bathroom mirror in Room 14. Maybe, if possible, change to a lower mirror in that bathroom.

Beautiful location on the ocean and very close to Fort Louisbourg and the oldest lighthouse in Canada.

It was beautiful and the dining room and music were one of the highlights of our trip- so much fun with everyone singing along. The food was very good!

Room looked out over the ocean. Could see the fortress of Louisbourg from the front window. Very quiet and peaceful. Had a nice dinner at the Bothy and met the owners, Colin and Justin. Live entertainment the night we were there. Nice breakfast at the smaller restaurant.

The room was advertised as a one bedroom suite - it is not! Any 1 bedroom suite we have ever stayed at has always had a separate bedroom. This should have been advertised as a large room with 2 queens and kitchenette. No USB plugs! The hair dryer on the wall has been decommissioned with no note anywhere to tell you about the hairdryer under the sink. Also, no note to tell you about the rubber bath mat under the sink. The bathtub is very slippery without it. We only found out about the hairdryer and bath mat after talking to the owner after breakfast.

Pricey for small town

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location, right on the water with excellent views of the harbour, lobster boats coming in and out as well as the Lousbourg Fortress. The room we had was very cool, it reminded us of a lighthouse as it had 6 sides facing out each with windows. The dinner at the Brothy was superb. Don't let the look of it from the outside fool you. Inside the decor is warm, very inviting and incredibly comfortable. The menu is large and our meals were just delicious. And we were served by Colin! Make sure you also enjoy their breakfast. It was delish!

Room was amazing, bathroom looked a little less modern but to be fair it was a good shower. The both resteraunt was very relaxing and decor beautiful. Food was outstanding and staff extremely friendly Breakfast in the morning was good portions and again lovely food. Mrs M in front desk was brilliant and even got to meet Justin!! Highly highly recommend

Everything about it was excellent! The Accomodations, cleanliness, hospitality, and the location made our stay there relaxed and enjoyable! The view from the 2nd floor was amazing!

Clean, Scandi/coastal vibe. Bright clean room. Good size room with a very firm bed. Bathroom good size with tub/shower combo. Could use a dusting especially the fan in bathroom but a very nice room all around. Basic bathroom amenities. Had a fridge microwave, coffee machine and kettle. Coffee, powder creamer and sugar/sweetener. Plates bowls and cutlery for 2. Queen size bed.

Can’t really say anything negative at all. Maybe do a little dusting occasionally but overall very comfortable calming room. A few electric candles would be nice.

Rooms were comfortable and staff friendly

Reasonable accommodations but at an exorbitant price. Paid ~$100 more per night to stay here than other far nicer places on a 10 day tour. Bath didn't drain properly, fridge and heat pump unit were both loud. Minimal view from the room itself to the ocean (small window, people often walking by in front, small deck etc). Also was not aware at the time of booking I'd be placed on a ground floor unit (2 story building, poor sound insulation). All of this was further compounded by somewhat poor service in the restaurant, which although voted as 'quite nice' in many other reviews, is perhaps better described as 'quirky nice'. It is a steel arch garage-style building but nicely decorated and the food was decent. The more unfortunate aspect of the entire stay was the drunken business owner who forced me to point out waitresses involved in less than ideal service, and launched a repetitive diatribe about how I myself failed in upholding a 'social contract' that should have seen me somehow better express our unhappiness in a way that might lead to resolution. All this, as in wishing to leave, my wife and I had approached the hostess desk to request our bill. I briefly tried to discuss the issue amicably with the owner, but it became clear quickly that there would be no use in further discussion given his inebriated state (I was server when young, now a physician). We left feeling terrible for both of our waitresses (having two was likely the source of our being honestly overlooked).

We had a beautiful ocean view room. Friendly courteous staff. Off the charts hospitable . The room itself surpassed all our expectations. Big , comfortable, had kitchenette , amazing sunrise from our room. The restaurant had excellent food choices and the quality was impressive. The drink selections were impressive and to top it off they had live music . We ate breakfast and dinner at the property . I can’t say enough about the place. Everything from check in to check out was super. We will return .

This is a beautiful property, close to the Fort and the lighthouse. We had an oceanfront room that was perfect except they kept the outside lights on all night. So much for enjoying the darkness of the ocean night.

Bothy restaurant was incredible. Really enjoyed the entertainment. Room was lovely. Very friendly atmosphere and felt very appreciated as guests.

Room 9 was wonderful! Clean and quiet and beautifully decorated. Spectacular views of the water. Excellent restaurant on site. Helpful, friendly staff people. Very close to Fortress Louisbourg.

Everything, fantastic hosts, Colin and Justin, go out of their way to make your stay memorable! And the staff, especially Mrs Julie McDonald, are so friendly and helpful. The room #4, was beautifully decorated and spacious!

We loved everything and the beautiful attention to detail. The staff are amazing and such fun to get to know Colin and Justin, they’ve done a beautiful job. The Bothy is such fun … a down home feel and fabulous food, great live entertainment.

Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Staff were so welcoming and the food was excellent. There was entertainment on the evening we were there and the hotel owners Colin and Justin also joined in. It was a great trip.

Fantastic well appointed suites right on the water and right next to Louisbourg fortress. Very bright with lots of windows and amazing views. Owners and staff are helpful and feiendly and restaurants on site and nearby. Lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the view and sunshine. Overall room was clean but dusty blinds and window sills stood out to me in the sunlight.

Amazing hotel!! Beautiful rooms and views. Excellent dinner at The Bothy. Met Colin and Justin (owners) and they were so hospitable. Music through dinner was great and Justin joined it! Would return anytime.

The view from our room, the Bothys restaurant, the room was super cozy and well equip.

The staff and owners were so lovely and friendly! Dinner at the Bothy (on-site restaurant) and breakfast was delicious. The property is beautiful and the accommodations were fantastic. The location is very convenient to the fort and lighthouse. I highly recommend if visiting the Louisbourg area.

Très cher pour ce genre d'hôtel....nous ne sommes quand même pas à New-York !!! La taille de la salle de bain est ridicule ! 445 CAD pour une nuit sans le petit-déjeuner !!!!! L'accueil et le départ n'ont pas été chaleureux : seules questions, vous voulez une réservation pour le restaurant ? Vous prenez le petit-déjeuner ? Aucune question sur notre séjour ! Carte Bleue et Basta.....même pas bon voyage !!!! Visiblement l'argent est très important pour les propriétaires !!!! OK mais ça n'empêche pas d'être prévenants !

Loved the vibe, the team (Colin, Justin, and the amazing Julie!), and the breathtaking ocean view with Fortress Louisbourg. Quite stunning. The food in The Bothy was some of the best we've ever eaten, and the service was kind, caring, knowledgeable, and cordial. North Star Beach Resort is the best of hostelry incarnate: sophisticated, elegant, unpretentious.

Endroit idéal pour découvrir la citadelle de Louisbourg, magnifique vue sur la mer. Chaque appartement est indépendant et il est possible de profiter des tables de pic-nique extérieures (2). Intérieur très beau et très lumineux avec une très bonne literie.

L’accueil et le check out furent expéditifs et pas super accueillant. Le restaurant est fort dispendieux. Il est dommage qu'il n'y ai pas plus de mobilier pour profiter des extérieurs.

Great location. Pictures on website show it a little more detached. Having Justin and Colin making the whole operation go smoothly and enhancing guest enjoyment was added value and staff are on their toes and great.

The staff were nice and friendly and the place was spotless.

Bed was like plywood. Room smelt musty. The bathroom needed updating. I normally wouldn’t complain about out of date tile and vanity in a bathroom, but when you have to pay nearly $350 for a night you should have your bathroom facilities match the price tag.

The suite was very nice with a comfortable bed and amazing pillows. The Bothy restaurant and bar had great food and live entertainment in a fantastic environment.

My husband and I stayed for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Colin and Justin are very hands on owners and can’t do enough for you. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Ate at The Bothy for dinner and had breakfast and lunch in the Coast. The meals were delicious! Highly recommend!

The location of North Star is really amazing if you have an ocean facing room. It was great to hear the water lapping the shore as we slept. The room itself was lovely, nicely equipped and comfortable. Both the onsite restaurants are stellar - the french onion soup and chicken pot pie are really excellent. The hosts and staff at the property are topnotch, friendly and efficient. Great stay.

Sauberkeit - Haare auf der Bettdecke. Im Restaurant einen Tisch auf 19:00 h gebucht. Bis wir uns setzen konnten und die Hauptspeise bekommen haben, war es bereits 20:45 h. Auf unsere Reklamation zeigte sich der Hotel-/Restaurantbesitzer absolut nicht einsichtig.

Einfach alles, das Konzept mit dem Restaurant „The Bothy“ mit den abendlichen Live Konzerten und sehr gutem Essen - einfach super und ein tolles Erlebnis und tolle Stimmung. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und sind mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Wir kommen wieder!

Das nächste Mal wünschen wir eine Suite im oberen Geschoss☺️

The view and the people were great. The location is very close to the Fortress at Louisbourg. The restaurant has a very nice vibe.

The room we stayed in did not match the picture on Booking.com. Expected a balcony and a bedroom suite, got a small porch with no seating and a cramped room. Bathroom could have been cleaner and more updated. No place to put clothes. Outside seating could be much nicer. Exterior light was so bright it was nearly like daylight in the room.

Breakfast is not included but is served in a charming space and the a la carte choices were excellent and appropriately priced. Service level is excellent.

No desk type unit or table in the room.

Werkelijk een prachtige locatie aan het water dit moet je eens hebben meegemaakt. Bekende uitbaters die er echt iets moois van hebben gemaakt. Wij hebben gegeten in het restaurant en was uitstekend; ook de inrichting was erg smaakvol. De locatie ligt bijna naast het fort van Louisbourg en is het bezoeken ook zeer zeker waard.

Minimale details zoals een loszittende deurklink of een douchekop die niet erg schoon was maar dit is te verwaarlozen.

Not a lot to do in Louisbourg other than visit the fort. A few outdoor areas of the accommodation could do with a repaint.

The North Star Beach Suites is an absolutely fantastic place to stay! The rooms are perfect, very nicely furnished and with amazing views of the beach. Dinner in their on-site restaurant, The Bothy, was delicious, a truly memorable experience with Colin, one of the hosts, even joining the band for a beautiful song. Our only regret was we only stayed for one night!

Perfectly designed room, beautiful style and colors, super comfortable bed, great view with sound of waves, wonderful restaurant with live music on grounds, amazing hosts and personal attention

The suite was a ‘wow’ with every comfort catered for. The breakfast and lunch options were many, varied, freshly prepared and delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We were advised places to visit and encouraged to see the locale. Entertainment was excellent while the location was calm, peaceful and relaxing.
