I originally booked two nights but enjoyed my stay so much that I extended it by another night. This is a small, authentic heritage hotel with only eight rooms, giving it a peaceful and personal atmosphere. The traditional Kerala architecture, beautiful wooden furnishings and attention to detail make it feel like staying in a historic family home rather than a hotel. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush tropical gardens, a lovely swimming pool and traditional features throughout the property that really add to the experience. Every member of staff was genuinely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rather than mention individuals, I'd simply say the whole team made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The food was freshly cooked to order, breakfast offered plenty of variety each morning, and nothing was too much trouble. They even offered to collect alcoholic drinks from the local shop if required. I also experienced an excellent traditional Ayurvedic massage during my stay, which added to the authentic Kerala experience. If you're looking for a modern chain hotel, this isn't it. But if you want a peaceful, traditional Kerala retreat full of character and warm hospitality, I couldn't recommend it more highly. I would definitely stay here again and hope to return on a future visit to Kerala.

Honestly this is one of the friendliest and nicest hotels I have stayed in. The staff were exceptional and always happy to help in anything I ask. Any issues that I had were dealt with swiftly and they are great at recommending places to eat and helped when booking a massage. The rooms and spotless and it really has a great atmosphere. Breakfast was extensive and lovely.

The architecture and setting of this hotel make it an oasis of calm, relaxation. We really enjoyed the attention to detail in the design and artwork throughout the hotel. We had a very spacious room with lovely en-suite shower room and large veranda overlooking the pretty garden. The pool is divine and pool area another tranquil haven. Just what we needed after so much travelling. The helpful, friendly, attentive staff made us feel very much at home from the moment we arrived. Breakfast, snacks by the pool, evening meals were all delicious. 10 minute walk to lovely Marari beach.

Breakfast was amazing, there was a huge choice of delicious food from local delicacies to omelette and fresh fruit.

This is really an incredibly beautiful hotel Possibly the nicest I have ever stayed in. The neighbourhood has a nice villagey feel to it with lots of plants, I enjoyed walking around the hotel. The pool was great. The multi course breakfast was amazing. Over all I loved it. Staff were kind and helpful.

La piscine est sublime. Le personnel est d'une incroyable gentillesse et très souriant. Et la plage est juste à quelques minutes à pied. Nous avons vraiment beaucoup apprécié nos vacances.

Unser Aufenthalt war einfach fantastisch! Das Zimmer war unglaublich groß, sehr schön eingerichtet und äußerst komfortabel. Besonders begeistert hat uns der Garten – ein absoluter Traum, perfekt zum Entspannen und Genießen der ruhigen Atmosphäre. Ein echtes Highlight war das Essen: Sowohl das Abendessen als auch das Frühstück waren herausragend. Das war mit Abstand das beste Essen, das wir bisher in Südsardinien genießen durften – frisch, liebevoll zubereitet und unglaublich lecker.

Das Personal war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvor kommend. Die Unterkunft außergewöhnlich geschmackvoll eingerichtet und schön mit einem schönen Pool. Sehr gutes Essen. Diese Unterkunft können wir wärmstens empfehlen.

A delightful place to relax at the end of our Kerala trip. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a huge bed and the pool area is gorgeous. We ate there 2 nights and the cooking is 5 *****. Best of all are the smiling and charming staff. Highly recommend.

The property was clean and comfortable. The room and the balcony overlooking the tropical feeling gardens were spacious and decorated to a high standard. There is a nice pool area for relaxing.

It was a 10 minute walk to the beach but we were grateful for the exercise.

If you are looking for peace, this is it. The atmosphere is very serene and nature-centric, evoking a beautiful sense of nostalgia. What really sets this place apart, however, is the team. The staffs are exceptional; their hospitality is beyond words. Highly recommended

We spent two whole weeks at Marari Beach Bungalow. We were very happy to have discovered this place. Compared to all the other guests, this was an unusually long stay in one place. As a result, we eventually became part of the host family. For our purposes, the bungalow was the ideal and perfect place. After many trips to India, this time we wanted to stay in an area that we had discovered three years ago and really liked. The beach was easy to reach, and we found peace and quiet by the pool in the bungalow's garden. All our wishes were fulfilled by the generous staff. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Although the bungalow does not have an à la carte restaurant, it was possible to order dinner before 5 p.m. As we celebrated a birthday and New Year's Eve there, the staff were also wonderful in organising our wishes. Yoga sessions and treatments were also offered at a nearby Ayurveda centre, and we were very satisfied with them. There is no better place.

The pictures don’t do justice to how beautiful and tranquil this place is. Wonderful garden with typical Kerala trees and flowers. Very beatiful wooden furniture. Everything clean, at all times🥰 and dinner was also a treat.

Magical stay at Marari beach bungalow. Welcomed with open arms even when we arrived early after a sleeper bus to kochi- we were offered breakfast and from that moment on we were exceptionally looked after. Beautiful room, very spacious with a balcony overlooking the garden. Breakfast every morning was great - they just kept bringing options to the table, all very delicious and served with so many smiles! The pool area is so peaceful and you can just watch birds and butterflies flying around. We also do loads of fireflies one night on our walk back to the hotel. This place stole my heart - I didn’t want to leave. We were waved off as if we were family and I nearly shed a tear. Would 100% recommend staying here and I can’t wait to return one day!

The only complain I have is that all the sun beds by the pool are in the shade and I like the sun so Would have loved 1 or 2 in the sunshine to lie on.

The stay was absolutely spectacular from the very first moment I arrived. From reception throughout my entire stay, I truly felt at home. The hospitality was outstanding and genuinely warm. With special mention and honors to Remesh, Jasmine, Rose and Adithya, who made my stay truly special with their kindness, care and attention to every detail. Upon arrival, I was given a small tour of the property, including an explanation of the hotel’s history and a walk through the garden, sharing some of the mysticism behind the place. I won’t spoil it here — I highly recommend experiencing it in person. The property is completely peaceful and located about a 500-meter walk from the beach. It’s not the main beach, but rather one that leads to a local fishing village, which makes it feel even more authentic and special. The food and menu variety were excellent — among the best I experienced during my travels in Kerala — and truly made a difference. Without a doubt, this is a place I would return to if I’m in Kerala again. Not only because of the beautiful setting, the quality of the food, and the proximity to the beach, but above all because of the warmth, closeness, and care shown by the staff. The room was incredibly comfortable, with fantastic terraces that made the stay even more special.

As very minor points that could be improved, the bathroom facilities could benefit from a few small upgrades. For example, having the hairdryer fixed to the wall would be more comfortable, and the selection of shampoo and conditioner could be slightly expanded. That said, these are truly small details and more a matter of fine-tuning — overall, the stay was excellent in every sense

Staff were excellent, very chilled vibe in the hotel and the food was lovely. Twin room is two double beds as well which is a huge plus.

But what truly sets this hotel apart is its staff. Every interaction was warm and genuine, always greeted with a smile. They are incredibly kind and consistently go the extra mile, whether arranging tours and transfers or, in our case, preparing a packed breakfast for our early morning departure. I wish I could mention everyone by name, but the wonderful team members we did meet included Jasmin, Nimesh, Rose, Shreejit, Reshma and Ansi Amma. A memorable stay in every way — highly recommended.

The property was lovely and the staff were exceptional. The only reason I have not scored this higher is that we were not made aware of the building works that were being carried out at the property when booking.

A new spa is being built next to the pool. We chose this property to relax after our two weeks of travelling around India and there were jack hammers being operated all day long. I would definitely come back again once the building works have been completed.

This hotel was so relaxing, there were not many guests as it was monsoon season. we had the best time relaxing by the pool, the food was incredible some of the best we’ve had on our two week trip! Jasmine was an amazing host, helping us organise transport to our next hotel and a boat tour in alleppey. She also organised when we wanted breakfast and dinner and it was always on time and delicious. The rest of the staff were also very helpful and friendly we felt very looked after.

We will remember our 2 days at Marari Beach Bungalow for a long time! The welcome was fantastic, we were pampered by an extremely caring and professional team! The food prepared to order, the breakfast, the pool service, we feel welcomed like prestigious guests! The house is tastefully decorated, very clean, every little detail counts and gives a feeling of accomplished work sometimes rare to find in India. This beautiful hotel with 9 rooms is fabulous. We stayed 3 nights all the staff are so kind, friendly and helpful. They arranged a taxi and scooter hire. Wonderful breakfast freshly made. We had dinner here too. They what’s app the menu for you to select from and choose a time to eat. Spacious room with great air con and balcony where you can relax and listen to the sounds of nature. Great pool area too. They are building a spa soon which will be a lovely addition.

Relaxing place for a perfect holiday. With wonderful ambience and a peaceful sleep. I have travelled extensively through India and I can say this as the best place I stayed. The house is beautiful and an oasis of peace in the busy Kerala countryside. The staff is great and you can see it’s a good place to work! The chef is super and we ate there every night. We had a lot of help from the staff to arrange things to do so everything went very smoothly.

The vibe of the place was serene and soothing. The staff (Jasmine and Neha) were extremely helpful and friendly. The greenery is marvelous and the food flavourful yet light on the stomach. the room was immaculate and we slept super well. Overall, a 10/10 experience!!

Beautiful grounds, huge rooms, strong AC, big balconies, comfortable beds, tea/coffee/fridge in the room. Quiet. Fresh fruit in the room every day. Super friendly and very accommodating staff. Nice warm swimming pool. Good full breakfast, eggs any style on demand. Drinking water is available around the property. Overall, highly recommend

At least 8 minute walk to the beach and pretty far from Cochi. You have to have something to sit on when you go to the beach. And get towels before you go. That’s the only issue we noticed.

Really everything - the staff was so kind and welcoming, my room was very nice and clean, I enjoyed the pool area, dinner & breakfast were tasty, and they organized a really nice backwaters cruise (in a small boat that could go up some of the smaller canals). I definitely recommend this property.

The room was extremely spacious, very clean and comfortable. The garden was peaceful and beautifully planted and the pool was enormous with beds under the trees. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful. Although it was one of the more expensive places we stayed in India so far, we felt it was worth the money.

Nothing. It’s very quiet and peaceful and not that close to lots of restaurants or shops, so don’t expect that. But it was easy to get a tuk-tuk to nearby places like Alleppey and it’s only a short walk to the beautiful Marari beach (but too hot for us to spend much time there).

This hotel is set in a really beautiful old building that is full of character. Loved the decor, furnishings and the beautiful antiques dotted throughout. The staff were fantastic, really warm and welcoming and always really helpful and responsive during our stay. Location was good, set just off the main road and only a short walk to the beach. The pool area was lovely. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The food quality at both breakfast and dinner was very good.

Issues with the hot water - most of the time our shower was lukewarm at best (apparently it is solar heated). We were woken very early each morning by a local temple blasting out prayers through a loudspeaker. The hotel staff told us this was due to a festival and not how it normally is, so hopefully that’s true and we were just unlucky with our timing. No licensed bar or proper on site restaurant (apparently both are coming next year). You had to pre-order dinner ahead of time, and breakfast was a fixed menu (although very good). Limited food options in the surrounding location.

Location of the hotel was only a few mins from the beach. The staff were very friendly, looked after you always there to help with anything. Food was fantastic. Pool was a bonus. Everywhere was very clean. Would def recommend this hotel.

The entire stay was just perfect. The owners , staff and the property didn’t disappoint. The room was cozy and comfortable with old school charm. This coupled with meticulously curated heritage props and intelligent interventions really knocked it out of the park. This is definitely a hidden gem.

Wonderful hotel. A restored Coir factory, the rooms are very spacious, beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed. There is an excellent swimming pool set in a beautiful mature garden with lots of exotic bird visitors. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food some of the best we’ve had on our trip. Mararikullam is a very quiet beach resort and within a striking distance of Alleppey and the waterways. Would highly recommend.

The restaurant was poor. Not enough choice of food. Menu sent on WhatsApp and had to get your order in at 5:30. Breakfast however was excellent. No licences bar.

The staff, food and location were excellent. The property is only a 5 minute walk from the beach. Jasmine, Laxmi and Libin were exceptionally helpful during our stay.

The only negative about the property is that it doesn't yet have spa facilities or many restaurants around it so you're limited to the food served on the property. However, the staff mentioned to us that they are soon expanding to add more rooms and a spa.

A small, great and calm resort in a former colonial house. Within walking distance from the beach but also perfect to just relax in the garden by the pool. The staff was fantastic and accommodating.

The food was (south) Indian but somewhat with a European spice level. We would have loved to either have proper Indian or proper European (or both as a choice).
