Crags Country Lodge

The location was beautiful! We enjoyed the views and the fire Pitt at night. We sat on the porch in the morning reading and drinking coffee. The staff Nisipi, Zamo, and Siso were so pleasant and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I especially love the hot water bottles on our pillows at night! Nice touch! We also met the manager who was also very friendly and welcoming. The owner does wood working and had put a lot of nice touches in the decor.

Amazing place, rooms impeccable throughout, pool and grounds and views too. The staff were simply the best - the management and the serving staff who became practically friends in 3 days. Food was amazing too and such good value. Loved the personalised menus for every meal. Would love to go back.

Crags country lodge ist ein so schönes Hotel. Etwas außerhalb von Plettenberg hat man seine absolute Ruhe, schöne Aussicht und hervorragende Zimmer. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch der herausragende Service vom gesamten Team! Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und auch das Abendessen. Auch der Kaffe war hier sehr gut!

Food was just delicious, breakfast and the two dinners that we had here. Setting was breathtaking and the staff were absolutely great. Lit the fire pit just for us at the end of the night when we wanted to stargaze - lovely experience all round

Everything. The location is stunningly beautiful; the rooms, pool, food etc quite outstanding & the most wonderful team : friendly, warm & super attentive. I would go back tomorrow & stay for an age, if I could!

Already the reception by the personnel was very well organized, all important things were explained. The view from the lodge is impressive. The big backyard is very well planned and maintained. The meals at the lodge restaurant are well fresh cooked and served with a personal touch. The room offers lot of space.

In this category the room should be equipped with an air conditioning unit. The access to the room should also be possible without crossing the grass, because the wheels f the suitcase are full of grass particles

This was our second visit to Crags. The standard is very high and to our taste. We were going to go here in Nov (before our March visit) but decided to change it and go to Hog Hollow just to have a variation - big mistake! If we go to the Plett Bay Area again, we will go here! The staff are very attentive and the Restaurant is of a fine dining standard.

Sehr gutes Frühstück und Abendessen in einer sehr schön gestalteten Lodge. Ruhig gelegen mit schönem Ausblick in die Natur. Das Personal ist aufrichtig um das Wohl der Gäste bemüht.

Die Anlage ist absolut traumhaft und liegt eingebettet in einer wunderschönen Landschaft – ein perfekter Ort zum Entspannen und Genießen. Die Zimmer sind modern, großzügig geschnitten und sehr komfortabel ausgestattet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das durchweg freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, das den Aufenthalt noch angenehmer macht. Insgesamt ein Haus auf sehr hohem Niveau – wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Nur ein sehr kleiner Minuspunkt - die Straße ist teilweise in der Anlage zu hören

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal in Crags Lodge und es war wieder traumhaft schön. Tolle Lage, sehr schönes , sehr sauberes Zimmer mit Terrasse und schönem Blick auf die Berge im Hinterland. Extrem freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal und tolle Küche sowohl beim Frühstücken als auch beim sehr guten Abendessen bei guten Weinen und gehobenem Standard. Wir wurden herzlich umsorgt und jeder Wunsch wurde uns prompt erfüllt. Außerdem ein toller Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge an den unglaublich schönen Strand von Plettenberg oder zur Robbenkolonie “Roberg” und weitere Naturparks. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall noch ein drittes Mal :)

The property was fine but the restaurant meals were average.

We couldn’t fault a single thing - the location and views from the property are stunning! Very convenient for getting to Plettenberg Bay (a 15 minute drive). The service was impeccable, with a lot of attention to detail which made the stay feel special. The food was also fantastic (some of the best we’ve had on our trip in South Africa). Couldn’t recommend enough, would have loved to stay longer!

Exceptional service from start to finish: a warm welcome with a drink, spotless rooms with beautiful bedding, and very attentive staff with a personal touch (including personalized menus). Special thanks to Zamo and Masi for their outstanding hospitality. The estate itself is stunning.

Sehr schön gestaltete Anlage, grosse Zimmer und super Restaurant. Das Personal war extrem freundlich und zuvorkommen und wir haben uns herzlich empfangen gefühlt. Die Lage war für uns ideal, da es etwas ausserhalb des Trubels in Plett gelegen ist, aber direkt an der N2. Wir würden sofort wieder kommen. :)

Had a lovely stay at the Crags country house. The room was wonderful and spacious, the beds were so comfortable and the staff were lovely! Highly recommend staying here if you want peace and tranquility, or if you’re visiting Plett which a short drive away.

Prachtige ligging, enorme bloemrijke tuin, zitje met open haard,ruime hoge kamers met mooie simpele moderne inrichting. Lekkere bedden. Lief behulpzaam personeel. Zelfs menu van heerlijk ontbijt en diner gepersonaliseerd op naam en voorkeur.

We voelden ons hier helemaal thuis, blij en welkom. Wanneer je erop let hoor je de weg op afstand een beetje.

Wir wissen gar nicht, wo wir anfangen sollen. Der Aufenthalt war von Anfang bis Ende perfekt. Nicht nur, dass der Ausblick wie gemalt aussieht, auch die Zimmer sind extrem sauber & das Personal so freundlich. Wir sind traurig, dass wir ‚nur‘ zwei Tage dort waren. Man fühlt sich so individuell betreut und jede Kleinigkeit ist abgestimmt!

Good standard of accommodation in a fantastic location with beautiful views of the surroundings. Gardens were lovely too. Service and food was of a high quality.

From the moment you leave your vehicle and get the warm towel treatment you know you are going to be spoilt. The staff and facilities are impeccable and ever need is expected and catered for. It was a delight to stay here

Beautiful intimate setting. Super friendly staff. Delicious breakfast and dinner. The “personalised” menu’s are a nice touch.

For a 5 star rating one would expect a few extra special touches, like mosquito repellent or plug-ins for the room, a small vase with fresh flowers (there is so much in the beautiful indigenous garden), perhaps a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, a magazine or two to read, air conditioning and perhaps a helpful information file with places of interest/things to do, etc. A “DO NOT DISTURB/PLEASE CLEAN THE ROOM” sign would also be good to have.

Crags Country Lodge is a fairly new place outside of Plettenberg. Only 9 rooms, so not too crowded at all. We loved the design and our beautiful room and the views into the mountains. The pool area is a wonderful spot to relax. It is a 15 min drive into Plettenberg town and close to many attractions around Plett including beautiful beaches. Breakfasts were extremely delicious and nicely presented. The staff was super friendly and we even were offered a really good flat white coffee.

We missed some information about the area. Walks around the property, activities, Dinner and Lunch recommendations etc. They do offer dinner or/and lunch in the hotel on prior booking.

The mountain view is so peaceful and relaxing to watch from the terrace. The staff was extremely thoughtful and the room is modern with all the comfort you can wish for.

We were recommended this place a year ago by an english couple in St Francis. We have just stayed here for 2 nights and we have now already booked for Nov 25 and March 2026. We stay at some lovely places along the Garden route and this is one of the best. Don't bother to go out and eat, have a drink on the terrace and eat in. We stayed 2 nights and ate in both nights. Location, scenery, staff, and food are all fantastic. Rooms are clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Just book, you won't regret it.

We did request almond milk for our coffee at breakfast which they did have for us but there wasnt any in our room for the evenings or before breakfast, that would have been a nice touch.

The lodge is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The lodge massively exceeded our expectations and the online pictures do not do it total justice. The lodge was completed approximately 2 years ago to a very high standard. It is a superb accommodation for total relaxation. The communal areas are designed and furnished once again to a very high standard. Fabulous grounds with the added bonus of a swimming pool and exceptionally comfortable loungers. Room number 1 is extremely comfortable and spacious. A lot of thought has been given to the beautiful decor and furnishings. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent and plentiful. James who is the manager goes out of his way to ensure the satisfaction and enjoyment of his guests. His wife is the Chef and is extremely talented. Given the overall quality of the lodge it represents excellent value for money. it We will not hesitate to return.

A fixed pathway with lights from the rooms to the communal areas and the car park would certainly help especially in the dark. A rail to aid getting in and out of the swimming pool would also be helpful for people with mobility issues. Just a couple of very picky items which certainly aren’t essential but would be an improvement.

Pretty much everything. The room was immaculate. House keeping was ridiculous (in a great way!) - you seemed to leave the room for a moment and when you came back in everything was made and immaculate. All the staff, without exception, could not have been more helpful and sincere. The back drop of forest covered mountains is just beautiful. Breakfast was comprehensive and the menus, with their personal touch (you'll find out when you visit), just added that little bit extra. Class accommodation where everyone is working hard to ensure you have the best stay possible. Highly recommend.

You're a little out of Plett, which is no issue if you drive, but it does make taxis a little more expensive.

The Lodge was amazing. Everything was brand new, so stylish and very thoughtful. The service was amazing and everyone went out of their ways to make the stay perfect. Such a lovely place!

If I could rate this higher than 10, I would. Every aspect surpassed our already high expectations. James has exceptional knowledge of wines and we really enjoyed spending time with him. The staff all go above and beyond to create personal experiences for us and it felt as if we were the only guests. The views are absolutely unparalleled in the area along with the landscaping and the design of the hotel. The two dogs were another highlight for us, we loved how happy they always were. A hotel with dogs and no children is possibly the best combination for us.

The place is absolutely beautiful and very clean. The staff is very friendly and always willing to assist.

This is a stunning place to stay, just outside of Plett. The staff could not do more to make you feel at home and assist you, especially Siso. And the quality of the food is exceptional. Would 100% recommend

Exceptional, a true delight, one of the very best boutique hotel experiences we have had in all our travels. Go, stay, unwind, you will not be disappointed. And dont bother about booking dinner anywhere else - each night was a feast, and the wine list is spot and, balanced and compliments both food and location.

We loved it all, from the smallest of touches, to the big ticket items, there was noting not to like.

This stay was FABULOUS! The staff were warm and welcoming, the location is beautiful and the rooms are excellent!! My friend and I stayed for two nights and for her birthday they all came to sing happy birthday after dinner. The rooms are super comfortable, spacious with beautiful high ceilings, and a lovely bathroom (with nice products too!!). I would definitely recommend it!!

This is the most wonderful place. The setting is idyllic, the food is excellent and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Everyone here went the extra mile for us and it made our stay wonderful. The lodge has a warm feel that really was a home away from home.

Wow - what a magical experience! Hands down the best hospitality I have ever experienced. Apart from the gorgeous aesthetic, the setting and service felt intentional. Everything from the people, to the food and the property itself - you can feel that it is all a labour of love. If you’re after beautiful sunrises, warm sunsets or simply want to star gaze.. you will be pleasantly surprised by the magnificent views all round. We spent two absolutely fantastic days at the lodge. It is situated on a hill, so you can enjoy a great panoramic view and wonderful sunsets every day. Everything is beautifully and modernly furnished. The food, wine selection and coffee were also fantastic. The location directly on the N2 means you can get to the Tsitsikamma in around half an hour. The lodge is therefore a very good starting point for hikes. Last but not least, we would also like to praise James and the entire staff: they really went out of their way to make sure that we had a fantastic stay.

Everything about the Crags is exceptional, from the welcome to the sad departure. Five star deserved.

The location is stunning with a 280 degré view towards nature. Breakfast offers big choices with several tasteful dishes. Staff is friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower that was part of room number 1.

Stylish, comfortable, friendly and relaxed property with a great team. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed two lovely evening meals, one of which was a set meal on Valentine's evening. The food and wine were both excellent. Loved the quiet location just outside Plettenberg with countryside and mountain views. We used it as a base to visit Robberg Penisula, Plettenberg and Tsitsikamma NP. Great room overlooking the lovely gardens and pool. Really glad we chose this property as attention to detail and lots of personal touches made it a memorable and special stay.

The formal nature of the breakfasts and dinner ... the food was delicious, but when the lodge is more busy I would recommend a buffet cold breakfast and a few items to choose from for the hot breakfast. Sometimes people just want a smoothie, or something small and easy. Dinner - an ala carte type meal every dinner is a bit too much for us (although delicious!), we would have liked an Ottolenghi style buffet... inspired salads and fish, meats to choose from and bob's your uncle. This will definitely be easier for the kitchen when the lodge is busier. I know if we had asked Alice and James they would have obliged our indulgences.
