Nothing - fine as was
Friendly staff

Location
Room very small - Breakfast - poached eggs were like hard boiled .
Food disappointing. Veg sausages barely edible.
Great location, cosy bar and restaurant, comfortable bedroom
Nothing lovely hotel
Perfect for our visit to Chatsworth
Bad closed at 9.30
空間大,還有兩間廁所,房間乾淨整潔,備品應有盡有。有附早餐,但可惜我們隔天很早就要出發,但他們還是幫我們準備了簡單的水果跟果汁,非常感謝。
無
Nothing to complain about although we thought it was a little over priced. We stayed for 1 night on a walking trip around the area and stayed in several hotels that had similar facilities but half the price .
Friendly staff and dog friendly areas
Bedrooms dated but still clean
Friendly staff and peaceful at night
Dismal breakfast
Food was nice, good selection of ales and room was clean and spacious.
Nothing it was perfect
The Devonshire Arms is a really lovely pub in a charming village with parking, it has a lovely walk through the countryside and it's close to Bakewell. The staff were friendly and approachable, rooms lovely clean and tidy, and the food was really good too. We would definitely stay there again.
N/A
Staff were generally helpful and we had a pleasant evening meal.
Very disappointing and not worth the money. The room smelled of damp dog, the carpets in the room and corridor were filthy, poor WiFi and the breakfast was fairly poor. The manager explained they are not doing anything about the carpets as there is a refurbishment scheduled. That may be great if you plan on visiting afterwards but not if you are paying this price before the refurbishment and the warning about the condition of the place only came on arrival.
Good confortable room. Friendly staff and ideal location
Poor in room facilities only instant coffee at breakfast
Excellent location for Bakewell and Chatsworth House. Pet friendly
Hotel should invest in their own WiFi instead of relying on the Cloud. Struggled to get internet in our room. Also husband was glutened having eaten breakfast despite stating he was Coeliac. We emailed the staff to ask how things had been cooked and whether the sausages were GF but nobody bothered to email us back. Bedframe in Room 8 is also broken (wooden slats).
Great location, food was good.
Needs updating, rooms are tired. Floors so creaky you can hear other guests. Not soundproof at all. Can hear guests through the night. Bed uncomfortable and slats on the bed had fallen off. Room was small and poorly layed out. Bar shuts at 10pm but no alternative provisions provided for guests staying which is unusual.
We had a warm welcome, young lady on reception was great and very friendly and helpful. All staff were organised and efficient. Bar and restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere.
A mirror close to hairdryer point would be useful and lighting was dark in our room. Everthing else was great.
Property is in a great location, dog friendly and a nice flat walk away from Chatsworth House
Our room was on the ground floor and very very hot. We had a small window which opened onto a back pathway so we weren’t comfortable leaving it open all night and just had to swelter. Breakfast was a bit disappointing and mostly self-service. It would have been good to know we had to make our own toast so we could have done that before our eggs arrived.
Staff rooms location
The breakfast sit down starts to late for workers
Friendly staff, great base to explore Chatsworth and the surrounding area, great food and comfortable room, will definitely book again
Nothing
Friendly staff, helpful, useful base to travel around Peak District
Need more fruit and pastries for breakfast
Perfect location for visiting Chatsworth. The staff were excellent and could not do enough to help us. Help with breakfast (when I made a mistake with my order the night before) was happily rectified by the staff and this was very much appreciated. Please thank the chef.
The property location was brilliant Food was very nice but the service in the main restaurant was rather slow.
The property could do with a bit of an uplift as it looks very dated in the rooms and a bit messy in public places. Breakfast was a little lacking in terms of what was available. You have to order the evening before which is strange as you don’t always want to have a cooked breakfast. Only toast available if no cooked breakfast wanted, no fruit or cereal
Great location. Situated in a beautiful village, adjacent to the Chatsworth estate. Lovely staff, great dinner. Room was clean and comfortable.
Doggy rooms were serviceable, but no view.
Great location, very friendly staff and food was very good.
The location , quiet and comfortable room with excellent breakfast.
Nothing we can think of.
Location was very central, staff very helpful.
Location
Squeaky, noisy floors Breakfast food was really nice but no decent coffee, very poor
Good facilities lovely setting
Nothing
Staff were very helpful and wanting to do all they could to make our stay great.
Sometimes difficult to navigate around to facilities. Dinner was along wait despite having booked a table.
The location to Chatsworth House was very good. The dining areas and outdoor areas are very nice.
The room was a little dated. The food wasn't great. There wasn't much attention to detail.
Cosy, friendly
Telly was not user friendly
Location
No fridge in the room, food quality quite poor
The staff are very friendly and approachable and on hand to help with anything you need. The rooms are very clean and well maintained
The room was a little cool but this would be due to being on the back. Warmed quick once closed curtains
Location and staff
Room bed. Not a nice coffee in the morning
Decor, staff friendliness, location, beautiful throughout.
Very minor detail, bed mattress felt a little soft (for me anyway).
Very friendly helpful staff. Brilliant location
Price reasonable, location, near Chatsworth House, with parking. Breakfast self-service aspects were very efficient for us. We liked the Bramley bathroom products.
Grubby looking corridoor " carpets" upstairs. Room 5 mattress looked lumpy (but comfortable enough).
Had breakfast there, and an evening meal. Really good service and food. Particularly liked the tipple in your room, a really nice extra touch.
They were a bit quick to bring the bill over, we'd hardly put our cutlery down, but that's a minor thing, but we were surprised.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, it was a very comfortable one night stay.
Food was great. Staff friendly
The dirty carpets on landing outside room 4 filthy. Bath with chips out. Dogs barking and allowed where food is. Room poor value for money no wardrobe! Just a rail. they said they were closing later in year- thats no good when they are charging me top prices for small room that looked tired with paper peeling off ceiling i have pictures.
Great location for exploring Chatsworth and Bakewell with good bus connections
Staff wonderful ,good food which was value for money
Location Bus stop - in view from hotel
No view from room chosen but loved the ground floor option
The ambience was perfect, the pub area was smart but at the same time cosy. Rooms were modern and clean, with wonderful comfy beds, we all slept like logs. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help. The food was tasty and freshly cooked, the wine list is extensive.
I'm being very picky here but the coffee at breakfast was poor and the water provided to make the tea wasn't hot enough.
Lovely outdoor areas to sit in. Very pleasant hotel
Nothing
Great location, comfy beds and lovely staff
It’s just very expensive at £200 per night
Lovely hotel and the staff were exceptional
Location. Staff.
Decoration of room.
Some of the staff were friendly others less so.
Very disappointing stay - the room was small and stuffy. The price was expensive for the quality of the room and service.
Fab position and friendly staff
Nothing 😊
The staff were super friendly , the evening bar food was beautifully presented and delicious - the rooms had comfortable beds, nice sheets and nice little touches in room.
The rooms themselves were old and a bit cramped and decor a bit dated , floors very creaky and uneven , the breakfast was not good
The Inn was very clean and the bed was very comfortable . I liked the finishing little touch like the complimentary tipple for a nightcap, wellies, maps etc. The food was very nice and well priced, good selection of items on the menu. Breakfast was cooked to order and not the cattle market buffets you get at some hotels. I asked for coriander and lime with the avocado on toast with eggs and was supplied no problem. The staff were very attentive at all times and nothing was too much trouble. we were concerned about noise with this being an Inn, but last orders were 9:30 pm which was great so not noisy at all and had a good nights sleep. There were tables outside for a breath of fresh air either at the front or the back of the Inn and plenty of room to park the car. Great location just 10 min drive to Chatsworth house and 5 mins to the Chatsworth farm shop, which we visited. Bakewell is also very close by so the Inn is ideally positioned for sight seeing and will be looking to stay again and recommend the inn highly.
Everything was very nice , there was nothing not to like to be honest.
Food was delicious and good sized portions for breakfast. All the staff were friendly and very helpful when we had requests. Beautiful room and large tea selection!
Clean, welcoming, staff were all very friendly and accommodating
Nothing
Well located staff
Cold room since there was no heating
The location was perfect to visit Chatsworth House, the room was clean and the staff was nice. Also the breakfast was tasty and with options for vegetarians and lactose-intolerants.
The bed was a bit too small for two persons.
Great food and wines. Great value
Location
Dated a bit tired
The room was clean, it had a kettle and a wide selection of teas and biscuits. Good hairdryer. Bar and dining were good
Overall, our stay was disappointing. The room was small, and the television relied solely on Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it wasn't connected to the internet when we arrived, so we had to call reception, who came to the room to set it up. Because the TV was internet-only, we were unable to watch the live World Cup football match we had been looking forward to. Breakfast wasn't served until 8:30 a.m., which was a problem as we had an early train to catch the following morning. The hotel offered us a packed breakfast, but we were looking forward to a cooked breakfast before a long day of travelling. Instead, we had to eat elsewhere. This was a major disappointment and took away from what was meant to be a special night away. The hotel refunded us £20 for the missed breakfast, which happened to be the same amount we had been charged for our dog. However, we felt this wasn't adequate, as buying a cooked breakfast elsewhere cost us more. We also thought the £20 charge for the dog was excessive, especially as all that was provided was a small bag containing one ball, two chews and two poo bags. We had dinner at the hotel, and one of our main courses was dry and burnt. To their credit, the staff removed the cost of that meal from the bill. Overall, what was supposed to be a quiet and relaxing night away before a busy week of travelling ended up being a disappointing experience. In hindsight, we would have been better off staying at home.
The staff are very friendly and helpful
The room is pretty grim. The WiFi is almost non-existent, as is the water pressure in the shower. Breakfast is extremely grim.
Rooms well appointed
Nothing
Great location, lovely bedroom and extras, great food and atmosphere in public bar, excellent service.
The location was excellent, the staff were friendly but the breakfast was poor quality and no variety.
The food could have been better and the booking system for breakfast was ridiculous for so few guests.
Lovely location friendly staff and excellent breakfast
Decor a little dated and room quite small.
Location ideal for Chatsworth House. Also by a footpath along the river and a very pleasant walk. Rooms were good..quite tight but they provided a kettle and tea/coffee and fresh milk available by reception. Delicious biscuits provided too…and a nightcap of port! Staff friendly and helpful
Service a little slow… we sat for meal at 7 but get any course for 45 mins.
Staff excellent - very helpful and efficient Food for breakfast and evening meal cooked perfectly Toiletries provided in bathroom high quality Extras in room - biscuits, brandy and fresh milk lovely touch
Alternative choice of yoghurt at breakfast as only had coconut flavour and coffee could be better.
The staff in the hotel and restaurant were very helpful.
Busy road
Helpful and obliging staff Location
Dreadful breakfast coffee No towel rail in bathroom ( room7) No fresh fruit offered at breakfast Dirty and worn carpet to corridor and stairs
I completely understand that your cancellation policy did not require you to issue a full refund on the day of check-in. However, what is most disappointing is the complete lack of understanding or goodwill shown in this situation. The issue was never primarily about the lack of air conditioning. The real reason I chose not to stay was the overall cleanliness and condition of the property. My first impression on arrival was extremely poor. The entrance floor was sticky underfoot, the entrance smelled strongly of a bar, and the entire property looked tired and shabby. The staircase carpet also appeared dirty and worn. For a room costing almost £250 for one night, I expected the hotel to be spotless and well presented. The condition of the communal areas was enough for me to lose confidence in the cleanliness of the accommodation. I therefore refused to view the room because I no longer felt comfortable staying there. Although I understood your cancellation policy, I was extremely disappointed that neither the hotel nor Booking.com showed any consideration for the circumstances. Instead, I lost almost £250 and then had to pay again for alternative accommodation. I booked a room at Casa Hotel in Chesterfield for £161, where the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. After the stress and disappointment of dealing with both Booking.com and The Devonshire Arms Baslow, it was a relief to finally have a restful stay. The Devonshire Arms Baslow response stating that I “never even went to the room” ignores the real issue. The condition of the hotel’s entrance and communal areas gave me every reason to believe the standard throughout the property would not meet the expectations of a hotel charging this price. First impressions matter, and unfortunately the first impression was one of poor cleanliness and poor value for money.
My first impression was extremely poor. The entrance floor was sticky, there was a strong bar smell, the property looked tired and shabby, and the staircase carpet appeared dirty. For almost £250 per night, I expected a clean, well-maintained hotel. I also regret not taking a photograph of the skip overflowing with rubbish at the entrance.
早餐很丰富很好吃,工作人员热情亲切
屋子有点霉味,天气热时没有空调,不过准备了风扇
Clean. Helpful friendly staff.
Small room. Noisy upstairs. Basic tea and coffee facilities.
The Devonshire Arms is very close to both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, which probably explains the room rates, on the high side for the category. Presumably quite a smart place when it was built in the local Peak District style, it has a faintly neglected feel, with incoherent interior design choices and odd pieces of furniture cluttering underused spaces between the pub and dinings areas and the rooms. The restaurant offers fairly standard English pub-type cooking and a decent cooked breakfast. Pets are accepted and there's parking at the rear. It is, of course, very convenient for visiting the two houses, and adequate for that.
Could do with a thorough, but no doubt costly, revamp.
Absolutely great stay. Arranged the breakfast time on check-in and next morning hot delish breakfast was served within minutes when we came down. The room was clean, super comfy beds. Stayed for one night, absolutely loved it. Had lunch in the pub too, the food is really really good and stuff super nice.
It felt more like a hotel than a pub/restaurant & the terrace on the front where you could sit out & relax
Arrangement of having to go downstairs to a fridge to fetch milk to put in coffee as left in the room ( there were no landing or sensor lights come on when one of us did have to go downstairs early to fetch it ) Coffee with breakfast was instant coffee put into a Burco boiler for self service which was really just coloured water-as there are only 11 bedrooms , surely individual pots of tea/coffee could be delivered to a small number of tables
We will always go back to the Devonshire Arms 💕 The staff are the sweetest people, we loved seeing Rachel and her Daughter Jasmine again! Can’t wait to go back and continue to recommend the place to everyone we know! Thank you for accommodating our huge group once again!
Honestly nothing, it was all amazing 💕
The room was fantastic! Nice and cosy. The staff was attentive and friendly. There was everything we needed in this room, and even more: we took a bath and enjoyed welcome drinks. The breakfast was also excellent. We would gladly return to this hotel during our next visit to Chatsworth House.
Little details added to comfort of room. Hot chocolate, fresh milk, port. Room was very small but as advertised and was comfortable. Breakfast was ok, not exceptional but tasty. Service was good. Dinner was perfectly adequate and good value for money. Bar was nice, well stocked and service was excellent and very friendly.
Landing carpet was very stained. Decor was ok but jaded. Coffee at breakfast was not great and very little choice of cereal. Bread not great and toaster very very slow. Long wait for toast and there were only 6 couples in for breakfast at the same time as us. Pre ordered cooked breakfast was good with a good choice.
Lovely area. Good food. Staff welcoming
Bathroom would benefit from a bit of a decorating/ refirb
Food
Friendly staff, welcome gifts
Nothing, all good.
Mooie locatie, zeer vriendelijk personeel. Heerlijk ontbijt
Oud pand dus ook krakende vloeren maar wel met karakter 😉
Traditional pub environment, nice bar area. We ate in the bar and it was a nice touch to light the fire to take the chill out of the air and create a nice atmosphere.
Some of the common areas were lacklustre and tired.
Good location for Chatsworth. Food choices and quality very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. The reception staff and restaurant staff very pleasant and helpful.
Wonderful location but the rooms were a little tired. Service in the restaurant and bar was a little slow and if it was my business I would want the bar staff to be on it a little quicker when preparing and serving drinks particularly when you are waiting for drinks with a meal. Wasn’t happy when we were residents and were told the bar was shutting at 10.30pm on a Saturday night and then feeling rushed as they needed to lock up the bar area.
Locanda molto bella e comoda per visitare Chatsworth, infatti in soli 15 minuti di camminata in un paesaggio verde e tranquillo si arriva alla tenuta. I letti sono molto comodi e anche il cibo è buono
Comfortable bed, beautiful view from terrace. Wee dram of complimentary Port was a nice touch.ovely bar area, good food and a warm welcome.
Some stains on carpet that let it down a little.
Beautiful location the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in.
We didn’t stay long enough
We paid for an upgrade to a garden room. Exceptionally comfortable bed, good quality bed linen and pillows. Toiletries supplied in the bathroom.
No dressing table in the room, difficult for ladies to sort hair and make up as nowhere to plug in hairdryer near a mirror. Breakfast was very poor. No pastries, fruit or yoghurts etc, cereal etc Just one choice of traditional breakfast, either full English or a choice of eggs with various toppings. However The English breakfast was served nice and hot with good quality produce.
Food good, breakfast menu excellent, many varied choices. Helpful and welcoming staff. Lovely comfortable room. Gorgeous toiletries in many varieties. Hot chocolate sachets with lots of hot drinks choices, biscuits and brandy!
Didn’t appreciate the early morning noisy beer delivery but appreciate they probably have no control over timing of this.
Lovely friendly staff and a very comfortable stay. Not overpriced and good food.
Everything ok
Poor sound insulation in our room
Hotel was really clean and homely
Nothing
Location
Food was poor
It was an absolutely lovely experience - we were well taken care of and the service, food, drink, location - all were top-notch.
Perfect location for gorgeous Chatsworth walks. Lovely warm pub for dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff.
Room and bathroom were very small for the price.
Had to book in for breki 8.45 did not get served till 9.25 pointless booking in if you can’t do it No wi fi or part bits before drop out Pillows were hard foam feel very hard and uncomfortable
Hanging rail in bedroom above drinks station, only one comfy chair in a double room
