A peine arrivé, nous avons été accueilli par une meute de chiens errants, ce qui met dans l’ambiance. Ensuite, alors que nous avons réservé une chambre double, on apprend que le logement n’est pas dans l’hôtel mais à 5min de là dans une tour d’immeuble dans un lieu qui n’inspire pas franchement la confiance. Surprise, même si l’immeuble est laid, on arrive dans un bel appartement qui semble de prime abord bien entretenu. Mais une fois dans la chambre, il s’est avéré que la tuyauterie fuyez dans toute la salle de bain, du coup nous avions en permanence les pieds trempés. De plus, il n’y avait pas d’eau chaude, uniquement de l’eau glaciale, nous n’avons donc pas pu nous doucher. Le lit n’était pas confortable du tout mais le pire a été l’humidité. Il y a un tel degré d’humidité que le lit était presque mouillé, et nos vêtements et sacs étaient également très très humide le matin. Enfin, il y a énormément de bruits l’immeuble et dans les couloirs jusqu’à très tard dans la nuit donc c’est impossible de dormir et cerise sur le gâteau, nous avons eu des cafards… bref, fuyez ! (A noter également, qu’il n’y a pas de climatisation et que les télécommandes de la télévision n’ont jamais fonctionné)

Para lo barato que es está bien, me gusta que las habitaciones compartidas sean separadas con una cortina es cute.

Nos recomendaron un trekking que decían que era muy fácil (incluso para hacer en manga corta), fue un horror. Nos diluvió todo el camino, tanto la subida como la bajada eran prácticamente de escalada (había cuerdas y todo), pequeños cañones con río que con todo lleno de barro y agua lo hacían muy peligroso. Cuidado con esa recomendación, no es para cualquiera.

Tenían a una muchacha que hablaba español. Era muy agradable y nos ayudó en todo lo que pudo. Nos dieron mantas por si teníamos frío y la habitación no estaba mal

El baño no me gustó nada,no estaba limpio del todo. Además las chicas de la habitación de al lado estuvieron haciendo ruido/ riendo a carcajadas (con un chaval que creo que no era del hostel) hasta las tantas en las partes comunes.

Zona comune dell’ostello carinissima, staff accogliente, preparato e simpatico. Dispenser acqua calda e fredda, tosta pane e frigo ben funzionanti.

Non ci era stato detto che avremmo soggiornato in un palazzo a 5 minuti a piedi dalla struttura, in una sezione più asettica e fredda. Il bagno al nostro arrivo era completamente bagnato e con capelli visibili. La cucina del palazzo aveva molte blatte e formiche.

A very bad experience, disgusting smell and dirty environment. Very unfriendly staff, lacking any sense of service, extremely impatient, and even playing noisy videos in the guest room area, completely ignoring the guests' rest. I witnessed the staff stealing food from customers with my own eyes. What's even more terrifying is that due to the lack of monitoring, they will falsely accuse you of damaging certain items, and they will attack you in groups, forcing you to defend your rights while traveling. I escaped from here overnight

The smell of cats pee so hard even in a new dorm. And cockroaches are everywhere.

The staff was always really helpful and kind. It is a place where you can relax and have fun by yourself or meeting other people. Good vibes, very confortable and good location for activities in Cameron Highlands. Highly recommended!!!

Sehr nette Mitarbeiter, als es geregnet hat konnten wir uns umsonst einen Schirm ausleihen der am Ausgang hing. Die Bar hinter dem Hostel ist wahrscheinlich der einzige Spot in Tanah Rata wo man am Abend ein preiswertes Bier trinken kann, Musik hört und bei einem Kartenspiel den Abend ausklingt

Ich würde das Hostel freundlich „ cat piss Hostel“ nennen. Es hat ca 6-7 Katzen inklusive Babys was auch alles schön und gut ist jedoch stinkt es wirklich enorm nach Katzen pisse. Außerdem sind die Hostel Wände sehr dünn. Wenn man Pech hat und hyperaktive backpacker gleichzeitig dort sind kann es gut sein das man vor 1:00 nachts nicht schlafen kann.

Everything was clean and organized, the staff were incredibly helpful and kind, the location was perfect and the social atmosphere was wonderful!

Todo está súper bien. Buena ubicación, personal amable, limpieza, silencio. Mi habitación estaba como en un apartamento donde tenías salón y cocina, la habitación con su baño propio, cama limpia y con la cortina que te da su privacidad. Se descansa muy bien, lo recomiendo 100%.

Toen we aankwamen kregen we te horen dat we in een ander gebouw zaten. Dit was een appartementencomplex een stukje verderop. Een ongezellige sfeerloze kamer zonder echt een raam en schimmel op de gordijnen, waardoor ook de kamer naar schimmel rook…

Vine por unos días y me quedé un mes. Necesitaba un espacio para descansar porque llevo viajando por tiempo y este lugar me entregó más de lo que esperaba! La ubicación es es perfecta, tienes los mercados y todo al lado y si te gustan las caminatas como a mí puedes incluso hacer rutas muy chulas! Encontré mi hogar por un paréntesis de tiempo la verdad, habitación compartida para mujeres y nuestros baños, cocina, salón, terraza, incluso Disney y neflix,limpieza incluida diaria( en el apartamento)...puro silencio, quería descansar, estudiar, integrar y a la vez estar en la naturaleza mezclada con el pueblo y fue una maravilla🥰 agradezco a Dios por esta bendición en mi camino y lo recomiendo la verdad 100%.

I was staying in the little private area behind the curtains and I liked it, it has more privacy than dorms. The hostel is close to many restaurants and cafes, also Tanah Rata bus station is super close. The common area/terrace area is big and there are many cats, which I love. The staff was helpful and friendly.

It was a beautiful stay at Jungle Ippie Hostel. Justine and Mani (the hosts) were extremely accommodating and helpful. Overall, the vibe of the place is 10/10. They also have a bar attached to the hostel and we have gaming nights almost every evening.

Clean private room with great bathroom and a hot shower. Also such a great chilling/socializing area and bar, super friendly and helpful staff, and good tea :)

Everything is humid in the Cameron Highlands of course, but so was our stuff after laying in our room. This also caused a little mold on the bedframe. I think better ventilation could solve that.

There was a girl working in reception who was kind and nice, even recommended to us some restaurants for lunch. A few nice friendly cats in the common area they take care of.

We were taken to a separate flat for our stay, in a different building located further away and uphill, which made the check-in unnecessarily difficult, especially with heavy luggage. This wasn't communicated or advertised in the listing, and it took away the hostel atmosphere as staying in the common area was inconvenient. The check-in process itself was very poor. The staff member at reception appeared untrained and unable to assist with basic tasks — he couldn’t find our reservation, provide information about the area, or even open the door to the flat. He was also indifferent and did not acknowledge or apologise when our room was not ready at the stated check-in time (3pm). We only managed to enter at around 3:30pm, and no one informed us when it was ready, despite us waiting outside the room. The biggest issue, however, was the bathroom. It had a strong smell of humidity, mould, and sewage, and was constantly flooded due to poor drainage. This made it very uncomfortable to use and is not acceptable from a hygiene perspective. Overall, the experience fell well below expectations due to poor organisation, lack of communication, and hygiene issues.

This hotel is exceptional! It is so near to the bus station that I literally walked in with my 4 big luggages. Staff is so helpful and guides you!

Le fait d’avoir un petit appartement rien que pour nous avec tout le nécessaire : cuisine totalement équipée, salon, Netflix…

L’évacuation était bouchée… il y avait donc des fuites d’eaux usées. L’appartement étant totalement en carrelage, marcher dans l’eau puis sur du carrelage est dangereux car on glisse facilement.

as lots of the reviews mention, the hostel has two buildings. i was in the old building and the room was pretty disgusting - just a mattress on the floor with an old blanket and a curtain as a door. it was freezing at night. toilets were outside, showers were cold, no toilet paper. if you want some, you must pay 2RMB. volunteers gave really odd vibes, like helping u was an inconvenience. would not recommend

L’établissement est composé de 2 auberges différentes l’une au niveau de la réception et une autre à quelques minutes à pieds dans une sorte de grande résidence. J’aurai préféré être du côté réception car plus chaleureux et moins isolée. Autrement le séjour c’est très bien placé, très bien situé pour les départs de randonnée et pour aller manger. Établissement très propre et confortable !

Room is very basic for price and moderately clean at best - common area is all very run down and not looked after Spent two minutes outside on sofas and found a flea in our room right after - didn’t find any more so must’ve been from cats or on sofa so beware of that Also found a small roach and a small beetle (I hope) in room not the end of the world but heads up if you’re squeamish as seems common there Staff are mostly indifferent but some were friendly Fireworks set off by staff/guests right outside the room three nights in a row past midnight (latest was like 1:40am) which woke us up every time - was around Eid so could’ve been understandable but didn’t seem religious at all more just for fun and kept going into the following week when celebrations had ended

Great location, amazing people, unbeatable value. Kitchen is fully stocked. Most importantly, the hostel kitties are friendly and would climb on your lap if you're chosen.

Super affordable. Nice and social especially with the bar attached. Nice communal spaces. They took volunteers so great for travellers looking to save money.

No fan or air con so the room got super hot in the day and colder at night. Didn't disrupt sleep but made the room not so comfortable to spend time in the day. I was there 5 nights and there was no toilet paper for the whole duration, also also often no soap and and unclean facilities.

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to sleep on a mattress rescued from the side of the road, this is your chance. The mattresses looked like it had lived several lives before meeting us. Air circulation? The room had the atmosphere of a sealed lunchbox left in the sun. Everything felt slightly moist at all times. To make it even better the pillow smelled like a wet towel. To top it off, we were gently awakened in the morning by the subtle yet unmistakable scent of urine drifting through the room. Nothing says “good morning” like that. Wildlife enthusiasts will also be pleased: there was a cockroach casually exploring the floor, and a black worm made a surprise appearance from the shower drain. It’s always nice when nature comes to visit, just not like this. On a positive note there were a few bright spots. The floor was actually clean. The location was great, which made escaping the building very convenient. And there was filtered drinking water available. Overall, if you’re looking for a place to test your immune system, build character, and reconsider your life choices, this hostel is perfect.

It's rock bottom basic, rustic and we'll worn, yet very likeable. It's cheap as chips. Nothing is supplied though. Bring your own towel, toilet paper and soap. This place is just like the places you found back in the days. It reminded me so much about my travels decades ago. The common bathrooms were much better than expected though, and the mattress on the floor was comfortable. The covered outdoor sitting area is really nice and very spacious... And the best of all is the really cool Jungle bar with cheap beers and very agreeable DSA.

The WiFi is really poor. I had the dorm with the leaning roof, and I just wish the bed was at the low end so you could stand in the high end, not opposite!

Bonne localisation, près de la gare et du centre et au calme. Possibilité de louer un scooter. Personnel sympa. Le rapport qualité prix de l’hôtel en lui même n’est pas si chère mais avec les différentes taxes ce n’est pas si peu chère…

Pas de papier toilette (sauf si on le paie), odeur de chat dès l’entrée et odeur d’humidité (+ remontée d’égoût donc odeur parfois dans la chambre) pas toujours de l’eau chaude (en faire la demande). Très froid le soir dans la chambre 2 couettes ne suffisent pas. La « chambre » fait très Harry Potter sous l’escalier 😅 mais permet d’avoir son intimité contrairement au dortoir. Pas de shampoing et gel douche dans les sanitaires.

De bar was een leuke centrale plek waar ook andere welkom zijn. Heerlijke omgeving om te zijn. Mega vriendelijke mensen :))

Ik had een privé kamer die in een ander gebouw zat 3 minuutjes verderop. Hierdoor moest ik vaak op en neer voor toiletpapier en de sfeer was aanzienlijk leuker bij de centrale plek.

I really loved the social aspect of this hostel, the area to hangout was great, met some really nice people and had a great time! This being said it's a really simple hostel, so don't expect fancy, especially given the cheap price. They also rented scooters, which was an additional plus as it was super convenient :) Also I loved the huge bedside table :D

The only thing to improve: during my stay i couldn't get a single warm shower (not sure why it didnt work). It didnt bother me too much, but would have been nice, since the temperatures in Cameron Highlands are in general a bit cooler.

There was a noise curfew at night that was unfortunately not being enforced at all… people talking / borderline shouting at silly hours consistently with no one working there saying anything. They also only gave us one small toilet roll for 4 people and then you have to pay for extra. The shower was cold the whole time we were there, even the suggestions given from reception didn’t seem to work… cold showers aren’t usually an issue but with the colder temperatures at night there it’s not really ideal.
