The hotel faced a south facing beach. Handy for a stroll.
The Deluxe Double Room I received was much smaller and nowhere near the standard shown in the photographs on Booking.com. The bathroom was very cramped, and the fixed shower head was old and sprayed water in different directions rather than providing a proper shower. The room also had a small window, which was very different from the large bay windows shown in the Booking.com photos. There were no chairs and table by the window as pictured, and the overall room felt much less modern than what was advertised. Soundproofing was also poor, as I could clearly hear people talking and even snoring in the adjacent rooms. When I raised the difference with the front desk, I was told that the room is classed as “Deluxe” because it is sea-facing, and that the smaller size does not change the room category. However, this does not address the fact that the photographs used on Booking.com give a very different impression of the size, layout and standard of the room. Overall, I was disappointed because the room I received did not match what I reasonably expected based on the photographs when booking.
NA
Location was lovely. Can walk straight out to the beach & fab views depending on which site of the hotel your room is on.
Paid quite a bit for 3 nights and there was no breakfast included. To buy a breakfast when there the kids would cost the same as adults and as a family of 5 I wasn’t willing to pay £60 for a breakfast each day. Family room bathroom was very small and little space to move in.
The bed was comfortable.
The room was definitely not like the pictures very misleading,it was a family room, very crammed,no bedside table to even put you fone on, could do with reorganization, as the wardrobe, dressing table and 2 bedside tables are all along one wall, doesn't make sense, shower slow, no blind on bathroom window, was really hot and stuffy, the fone attached to the wall didn't work ,not sure if it's supposed to (if not take it away), the lights went out early in the morning as we were getting ready, fortunately there was a mirror beside the window where we could do our makeup, breakfast doesn't start till 8am ,so nothing to offer those going early the 2 mornings,( Morrisons is near by 🙄)The whole room is very tired, the only positive was the staff we did see (only 2) were very nice.
It was very handy for a festival we were attending in the town. Absolutely stunning view from our room. Hotel was spotless and staff very attentive. Couldn’t ask for more x
Nothing
Location was excellent staff were pleasant and helpful
It is a bit old fashioned and dated
Good location, nice staff, clean, smelled nice.
Dated decor of rooms, bathroom was run down (grip handles to get in and out bath were rusted and loose)
Great stay
The view and staff
The view from the window was lovely. The shore line and right down the Firth of Clyde. Close to the shops and the Ferry terminus. The hotel had a balcony to sit out.
The dinner at night was a three course, too fancy for me. So was unable to eat in. Did not have the breakfast.
Lovely roo. With sea view. Very pleasant staff o. Reception and dining room.
Nothing
Friendly staff and helpful
Very dated and need of an upgrade
Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and well appointed. Internet fine. Bar open 2pm onwards, Lounge facing the water. Tables outside if weather permits. Food adequate and nicely served, though after first evening and morning we ate out. Close to Dunoon main street.
Room (deluxe double with sea view) rather small, not really possible to sit comfortably, the 2 seats and small table squashed between bed and wall. We coped, the rather nice lounge wasn't far away.
The location is absolutely perfect, really good terrace and front gardens.
Hotel is a bit outdated and not as much food choice as the sister hotel The Argyll.
Location great
Shower was very poor
Proximity to water and the upgraded sea view room. Our original room was small, very dark and facing the car park. Way over priced for £145 a night excl b’fast. Staff are helpful and are used to sorting issues, I can see. The room and deal we got in the end was better value for what it all is.
Very old fashioned and drab. Hideous black & yellow safety tape across a few steps. Old furniture, zero style or ambiance around the place. Very old fashioned set menu with one sitting for dinner. Like stepping into 1970s. No kids menu!! Coffee served is instant. The entertainment room was very bare with old furniture and not inviting. The pool table has only one working cue.
from start to finish, perfect room, perfect staff, perfect bed, perfect view, even though there was a thunder storm. Clean, tidy, very helpful staff. Walking distance to restaurants, pubs and shops
nothing
Central to town
Can’t complain at all
Location
Hotel was v cold, no heating and very tired looking shabby decor
Everything was first class had a lovely time and
Location was good,
Dated hotel, shower was just about warm in the afternoon when we arrived, OK in the morning.
Lovely family room near the entertainment room ..comfortable stay my room very convenient
Hotel a bit of a Warren could easily get lost
Felt the room I had wasn’t the premier room I paid for
Perfect location, friendly staff we had an excellent room with a beautiful view. 2nd time to stay and will stay again. Old fashioned hotel but perfect.
No breakfast
Location, facilities and staff where all excellent
Sehr stilvoll, große Zimmer, gute ausgestattet. Top Lage, direkt an der Promenade
Schöner Blick!
Wie in so vielen Hotels: Funzlige Lampen..
Really good and comfortable service was exceptional
How clean and tidy it was and the staff at the desk was so helpful and nice
Clean and staff friendly
Nothing
Great location with lovely views. The staff were welcoming and easy to deal with. Would happily recommend and am booked again for next year
Nothing
Great location and my room had stunning views….
Shower didn’t work
The stunning views the beautiful room With the four poster bed
Everything was perfect The price was £208 for a double room as no singles available but will definetly return . Highly recommend
The location was excellent with a short walk to the passenger ferry and town centre. Lovely sea views. An attractive cafe called the Boathouse was very nearby .and Rio Ristorante a few minutes walk away is an excellent Italian restaurant. Also near is the very interesting little museum in the Castle. Staff were efficient and pleasant.
We had booked a king size room but the bed seemed much smaller than king size. The bathroom was not well lit and the shower was temperamental, stopping completely a couple of times.
Seaview room with quiet location and 10 minutes walk into Dunoon. Out of season so not many people in hotel.
Outside balcony had upturned barrels with used cigarette stubs. Breakfast was expensive so I didn't have it.
Room was huge an had a sea view ,bed was comfy and had a modern ensuite
Although there was a sea view the low sofa didnt allow good viewing out of window .. there were 2 large radiators one of which needs bled as one end was warm and other end not so warm ,as for other radiator it wasnt working at all which left the room cold unfortunately so not as comfy as should have been during stay . We mentioned this at reception and the young man at desk was helpful and gave us a plug in heater but in a large room it wasnt enough .
The hotel is situated a five minute walk from the ferry. When I arrived the Reception staff were friendly and helpful. I booked a sea-facing room which was lovely. The evening meal had several options as did the breakfast. The staff all went out of their way to accommodate the guests.
Nothing to complain about
Great location and excellent views from window, relaxing and calm atmosphere. Staff friendly and accommodating, close by to town centre. Unfortunately did not experience breakfast. Otherwise would recommend for a peaceful get away.
There was no dining experience as restaurant not in use and small bar quite pricey for a drink.
Convenient location.lovely large room comfy bed and pillows.breakfast yummy
Sorry find it diffcult to fault
Excellent stay room was very clean staff where so friendly and the food was 100% already going to book again.
Honestly there’s nothing not to like
Room size was very small. Bed felt quite short. Wouldn’t suit a tall person
Geen ontbijt genomen Echt een seniorenhotel
Staff were loveliest lovely
Parking
The view really although we faced into a run down car park
Parts of the hotel were dirty our room didn’t gave a phone for reception or menus for breakfast and dinner . Hotel was quite noisy. We were phoned when we were out asking us to move our car as a coach was coming in. Then it jammed us in for the night.
Great location Staff friendly and helpful Breakfast was decent
Many parts for the hotel were cold
Friendly staff
That breakfast wasn't included in price
Great breakfast. Enjoyed our stay . Staffgood
No internet was a negative. No evening meal at the hotel.
Breakfast was very good.
No bedding on the two beds no towels The previous peoples rubbish still in the bin im not a picky person far from it bit felt let down wasn't cheap stayed there 4 years ago and it was lovely bit I woylsnt again.
Lovely area, fantastic view,
Our room, deluxe it was not , could not use shower or bath , due to being elderly with mobility issues, it was so small if there had been an emergency, and I had fallen no one would have been able to get the door open ,
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I had dinner on 2 nights and was very pleased with the quality, quantity and variety each night. The bed was extremely comfortable.
I would have loved a mug for tea in my room instead of the cup and saucer, but that is my personal choice.
Nice location
Placed into the worst room I have ever stayed in. Next to reception and toilets for use by everyone. Noise level of ppl coming and going was horrendous little to no rest.
Location of hotel was good, close to the ferry terminal. Only had breakfast on 1 day. Small room not set up on my last day to serve breakfast for private guests and staff were busy with 2 coach parties. I went out for breakfast.
Would have preferred dinner to be served at an earlier time.
Room was clean. Staff were friendly. Free bathroom products
No biscuits on tea tray in room
Enjoyed the stay
All
The staff and food were excellent
The entertainment lounge had no bar or toilets it was awkward trying to carry drinks upstairs
We were transferred to Argyle hotel due to the closing on the 10th we had no pr with sister hotel
Central location lovely sea views from our room
room 355 would have been the best room (for quietness) out of the 3 if it wasn't for it smelling of sewage, toilet hadn't been flushed, cup ring stain on table. smell was unbearable left after ten minutes, put in room 365 (should I say box room tiny space up high next to multiple generators through the wall next to the lift in a cupboard. I was willing to put up with the size of the room, hair in the toilet sink, dust around TV and mirrors.. the combination of natural noise from outside rain hitting off of plastic door on roof etc it was the generators causing the most noise and vibration, we tried 355 again to see if the smell was gone, it was still there! 3rd room 358 looked best of all on paper until seeing both of the single beds where stained, dust everywhere. got 4 hours of sleep the walls where hollow could hear everything..took 2 hours for hot water to come on. handed key in an hour before check out only stayed one night of the 2 cos £158 breakfast not included. they refused to refund the night, said it had to be booking. con.. now booking.com are saying it has to be the hotel. which is it? contacting my bank today. poorly managed. the hotel has a lot of rooms with what I assume not much custom. genuinely slept in better hostels! and paid the same price for a more luxurious stay in a country hotel, with jacuzzi, sky TV, and breakfast. fell twice in the maze of a staircase, hurt wrist on the front door entrance with the wind slamming door shut. wasn't aware of any other doors until the next day after I left (that was my own daftness ofcourse) had to add I went to the reception at 1am to let them know as early as possible that I was definitely going to be leaving in the morning, they must have been in bed because no one answered the ring bell.
Good
Didn't like to say how many courses we wanted for dinner before 3pm each day and without seeing a menu. Didnt like having to have our dinner at a set time every evening.
Room was good but the person on reception need is white shirt to be white if you get that one
Payment for a can of coke £2.90 more than 100% profit that not Wright in my eyes
great hotel great view will be back
It came up on booking.com as a pet friendly hotel, so I booked 2 nights for myself, my son & my well behaved dog. They then said that they weren't pet friendly, so I was forced to cancel my booking & forgo my holiday, however, they still charged me for 2 nights.
They broke the contract by offering something, then withdrawing it, but still charged me.
The view
It’s run down
The staff was so welcoming and gracious. They arranged a cake for my daughter's birthday even at the last minute.
The hotel is comfortable but old and basic. Yet, everything is working well and all is clean and well maintained.
Liked the location and the lift inside the hotel. Staff were pleasant but had some difficulty sorting our booking for 3 rooms on different dates!
Can't really think of anything except the lack of parking when there's an offer on and hotel is full
Good location, nice big hotel
Needs upgraded
The breakfast was nice, served quickly and the staff could not be more helpful. The location was fantastic and the scenery is stunning.
I couldn't find it at first but it's just to the left of the one way junction, I've added a pic to show this.
Large hotel with fantastic sea views. Town and ferry a short walk from hotel. Staff very friendly. Vegetarian fried breakfast was delicious and the waiting staff were super efficient and polite. Room was clean and tidy.
Our shower was cold water today.
A decent hotel for a stop-over with parking and within a few minutes pleasant walk of the town centre. Very helpful at check-in. Good value.
Conversion and extension work has left the hotel very rambling, so getting luggage too and from the car park was a bit of an effort. Particularly when fire escape door leading directly to the car park is shut and you have to walk all the way around to the front
The location was amazing
Damp hole leaking into our room through the night , filthy kettle , one pillow on the double bed , family room and put next to live music til early hours of the morning, potent smell of mushrooms awoken the room by 6/6:30am , no key for front door so was locked out at 11:30pm and there were more issues. Tried to email management to resolve and after 2 emails was ignored, such a shame as had so much potential
Vegetarian breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Several of us arrived early because of trying to avoid Storm Amy. We were given tea, coffee etc until our rooms were ready. Single room was spacious compared to some I have stayed in.
Nothing
Understaffed. Rowdy noisy guests. Zero sleep until 0230. Complained the next day and zero acceptance or responsibility from hotel ownership. Rooms dated, carpets dirty. Last refreshed when Thatcher was in power. Poor customer service. Avoid at all costs.
Proche du bord de l’eau, personnel agréable, décoration typique, agréable séjour
Clean , comfortable and great location with fantastic views , friendly helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere
Breakfast was additional cost which I felt should have been included
Staff very friendly, especially the bar man
A biscuit in room to have with your cuppa
