Freundliche, ein wenig in die Jahre gekommene Pension in gute Lage im Stadtteil Melville, Nette Terrasse, gutes, sehr umfangreiches Frühstück

Die frei im Raum stehende, nur durch einen Paravent abgetrennte Badewanne war etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Zudem hat der vereinbarte Transfer vom Flughafen nicht funktioniert - gewiss kein Beinbruch, aber wenn wir gleich ein (zudem preisgünstigeres) Uber gebucht hätte, hätten wir nach der langen Reise viel Zeit gespart

This place has style and comfort. Excellent breakfast served with smile. A late arrival and pick up from the airport was arranged without problem.

This was my second stay here, and once again, it was a wonderful experience. My flight was significantly delayed, but they kindly waited for me and made my late check-in very smooth. The room was excellent, and as always, the breakfast was the highlight of my stay especially the scrambled eggs prepared by the lovely Happiness. Thank you for another wonderful stay!

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious for a solo traveler. Also, the neighborhood was safe and within easy walking distance of restaurants.

Das Gästehaus ist gemütlich und sauber. Alle Mitarbeiter waren besonders herzlich. Das Frühstück bietet alles, was das Herz begehrt, inklusive frisch selbstgebackenem Brot. Toll ist auch, dass wir abends noch zu Fuß in der Umgebung unterwegs sein konnten.

Herausragendes Zimmer, groß und komfortabel dazu sehr sauber. Besonders haben wir uns über die Herzlichkeit von „Happiness“ gefreut. Sie hat uns empfangen und einen wundervollen Aufenthalt beschert Vielen Dank. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Great location with a back entrance to 7th street where you will find bars and restaurants. We were delighted we chose this area. Very good breakfast

Prachtige kamer, heel sfeervol. De hele B&B was heel karakteristiek ingericht. Het personeel was erg vriendelijk. Een heerlijk ontbijt met verschillende brood, vetkoek en vers bereide eitjes. Echt een feestje.

Excelente lugar, amabilidad del personal. El desayuno fue algo increíble, jugo natural, yogur, con pan casero, y un omelete que hacía años no comía.

Amei a tranquilidade e a segurança do lugar. O hotel é um charme e merece ser visitado. O quarto é amplo e confortável, o café da manhã excelente e eu não tenho nada do que reclamar…Somente agradecer, muito obrigada 😊

It was a great place to relax after a day out. The breakfast was really good Annemie was happy for us to arrive quite late into the evening.

La gentillesse des propriétaires et de l’équipe, leur disponibilité, le calme des lieux et pourtant si proche de la ville, et le petit déjeuner extraordinaire ou tout est fait maison. La maison au charme désuet ainsi que la décoration de la salle de petit déjeuner façon brocante.

Our checkin experience was wonderful and the young man assisting was amazing.

Very slow communication. Asked about a change in requirements and got back to us too late to be relevant. Hefty charge to keep one of two rooms booked for check out at 6.30 pm, which due to very low occupancy should have complimentary. Would not stay here again.

Alles bestens, allerdings war Zimmer mit Balkon gebucht, welches beim Check in leider nicht zur Verfügung stand. Die Terrasse war aber eine gute Alternative...

The aircon didn't work, kept tripping the switch, were given a portable heater, also turned off and wouldn't back turn on. Nice extra blankets. Door left opened after the room was made...

Lovely place, beautifull garden and great localization. You can relax in the middle of the garden. Communication is great.

The property is in a good location for Melville. There are a good selection of bars, restaurants and convenience stores within a 5 minute walk. The staff we encountered were very helpful at both check in and check out. Unfortunately due to planned excursions we didn’t make breakfast. Correspondence via email was quick. Our room was large and bed comfortable.

The property is dated. Our room whilst large and comfortable felt dark and there are limited lights available. I hadn’t realised how cold Johannesburg would be and our room was cold to the point of the bedding feeling damp. We did use the blanket that was provided which helped. There was an AC unit which I presumed doubles up as a heater but we couldn’t get it to work, either the batteries were dead or it was broken. I didn’t report this as it was at night when we got back it was too late. The shower in the bathroom whilst powerful sprays water all over the floor which is rather annoying.

Honestly everything. It’s beautiful and clean. The owner goes out of his way to always assist with anything. Will definitely book again.

La douche avait des cheveux coincés dans la bonde de fond de la douche que nous avons fait enlever. Plus tard nous avons découvert des traces de sang sur le mur près des toilettes au niveau du rouleau de papier...

Excellent location walking distance to Melville (which is a wonderful choice for a Joburg stay), and with a great view of the Koppies. The property has beautiful vegetation. We loved our upstairs rooms and spent several hours enjoying our balcony breeze and views. Comfortable rooms with style/character. The staff was also friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!

A really fantastic guesthouse. One of the best places I was accommodated so far. Top price/performance ratio with super tasty breakfast. Just few minutes above the guesthouse is the “party” place of Melville with lots of Bars and Restaurants. The owner and its family are very friendly.

Lovely stay at Agterplaas. Good communication beforehand. Easy check in with all the information. Private parking available, security at property great, delicious breakfast. Good place to stay in Melville.

No hot water once the sun had gone down. Staff were very apologetic and it wasn't a problem, but good to know in advance.

Si vous aimez l’ancien, c’est parfait, sinon passez votre chemin. C’est une maison très ancienne, avec parquet et meubles d’époque joliment décorée. Le personnel est très accueillant, ils nous ont permis de laisser nos bagages pendant 2 jours. Le petit déjeuner est excellent. Il est bien situé car son accès privé la la 7 street est rassurant.

Agterplaas is rightfully famous for its breakfast, with several choices, including home made freshly baked bread, and a lot of other freshly prepared choices.

Not much, except that sometimes, this time only one day during my ten day stay, the water was not running, due to problems at the municipality.

DIe Agterplaas is - still - a great place to spend a night or more. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful and all the features are good. And it's extremely economical.

Great place in the green part of Johannesburg, and a great stay made possible by the personnel. Also an excellent breakfast. Highly recommended!

I absolutely loved everything about this place! The room was cozy and comfortable, and the decor was beautiful. The hosts were incredibly kind and even let me have a late check-out, which I really appreciated.

Loved all the antique furniture and collectibles on the walls. It added to the wonderful vibe. Big room, fantastic breakfast, good location, terrific staff.

Sheets were poly unnatural something and every time we rolled over, we were electrocuted by a 1000 little static bolts of lightning

Excellence in the guesthouse realm. The personal touch, including the amazing breakfast is something you do not experience in a hotel chain. Beside the great personel and the picturesque location in Melville.

Having had a long and tiring journey, we were so looking forward to getting to Agterplaas. We were welcomed by a very charming and helpful young man and were very comfortable in our rooms. All the staff were wonderful and we had a fabulous breakfast in a lovely farmhouse style dining room. Our rooms were a bit above the main house and we enjoyed sitting on the stoep in the evening looking at koppie across the valley. This is a charming place with great people in a lovely area. Strongly recommended.

Agterplaas guesthouse ist eine sehr gut gelegene Unterkunft im quirligen Melville. Die Zimmer sind auf mehrere Gebäude im schön angelegten Hanggrundstück verteilt. Obwohl die Einrichtung etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist, sind die Zimmer charmant und sehr ruhig - wir haben wunderbar geschlafen. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig mit viel Auswahl und von guter Qualität. Die Gastgeber waren extrem hilfsbereit und haben uns viele Tipps für Johannesburg gegeben.
