The view, staff and the breakfast.
room and view was good
i though it was over price i don't think i'll be staying there again
The breakfast was the high light of our stay. The balcony was ok for me to see the ocean.. the staff were, very cheerful and helpful.
hotel room was over compact, smaller than expected. There was cobwebs in the lamps and all the wood furniture needed waxing.hotel room was over compact, smaller than expected for a double. The bed was very hard, we did not sleep well at all. Totally overpriced. The advertising photos did not reflect what we received.
Location
Hotel is tired. Needs a refurbish.
All meals were good, very organised place, staff were very efficient and very helpful
Possibly needs a bit of modernising, looking tired in places but I guess it suits the majority of its guests , most seemed elderly and on coach holidays, when talking to some of them, they were full of praise for the hotel so I guess you can’t fix something that isn’t broken.
Not much to say just the view from the room was good
the bed Room smell Shower flooded Dirt honestly we have never been in a room that bad Shower problems Room was very dirty Bad old mattress very very soft English breakfast every day is not a healthily choice and the healthy items available were of very poor quality Our main problem was the smell of the rooms the carpets were so very filthy no amount of steam cleaning would do One of the rooms was for a 93 year old and she couldn’t take showers because the shower flooded and she was expected to move the water towards the drainage with a gadget left in the shower We left a day early
Lovely old fashioned hotel with friendly staff
Wouldn’t want to eat the carvery choices on offer. But like a large cafe but lots of places to eat nearby

The bedroom was good. Bed comfortable. View nice
We loved the balcony and sea view, being able to watch the sunrise over the sea and enjoy the peaceful promenade. The breakfast was the absolute best! It's a lovely, clean, comfortable, calm hotel, old-fashioned in a good way.
I found my bed too soft and wobbly, and actually fell out while leaning over to see what time it was (6am) and banged my nose and mouth on the corner of the bedside table, and my toes on the rather sharp foot under the bed. I also stubbed my other foot on that later in the day.
We had a great room with a balcony and wonderful sea view
Nothing!
Good location
It was the hottest room I have ever stayed in. Yes, it was a heatwave, but no provision was made to try to cool the rooms, like maybe the cleaners making sure the curtains were closed to stop heat from building up in the rooms. Then, the fan provided may have had a chance to work.

Friendly staff, excellent location, clean room and spacious bathroom.
Location is great - staff membership are very friendly , helpful and practical, hotel very clean and hygienic , food was great - too many details for guests satisfaction .
I love it

Lovely welcome. Great pride in working for the hotel, that came through clearly. Really nice breakfast and coffee, also catered to decaffeinated. Beautiful location right on the cliffs edge of Babbacombe. Opposite the finicular train down to the coast. Will stay again. We have family and friends in the town and surrounding areas and even they chose to stay in his hotel sometimes ! Really beautiful experience. Great staff, great hospitality. Unbelievable location. We found parking just behind the hotel on a quiet street tat parking is very limited.
Great window view!
I was put on the 3rd floor, lift only goes up two floors! No fridge or water or biscuits in room.Bed sank to the left.Breakfast starts far too late at 7.45am, this in turn means 90% of the hotel residents are queuing up from 7.30am, it’s awful, a cattle run! Whole place is like a nursing home, breakfast was like gods waiting room!
The only downside was the fact the we were on the 3rd floor and the lift only went to the 2nd floor! But we usually walked up the stairs anyway!
Some of the paintwork was starting to look a bit tired.
The location was perfect for our visit to the theatre there. Had a lovely large Seaview room, with an enormous terrace. Staff we very friendly and welcoming. Great choice at breakfast.
The location was fantastic
No fridge in room
Good location.
If you get a room above the kitchen the noise is horrendous. I was one of the first to breakfast yet the food looked like it had been there ages. Poor quality and burnt.
Great views and friendly staff
Room was very warm and food was very basic- deserts looked like they were thaw and serve catering products and hot food was like toby carvery low level just done enough could be way better
The staff were lovely and it was on a good location. Nice view from bedroom.
Sadly a problem with the hot water did mar our stay slightly .
Die Lage ist ein Traum, aber das Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Könnte eine Renovierung gebrauchen.
Excellent
Staff were amazing,location absolutely stunning
Nothing to dislike
The mattress was very comfortable. Staff really friendly. Balcony good. Entertainment good. Good base to explore from.
Rips in the headboard of bed. Shower head pole broken. Not enough coat hangers for 2 people. Had to buy own tea bags. As you only offered plant based which I have allergies to. Not enough sugar for 2 people in room. We've stayed here on 2 other occasions and everything was much cleaner as the hotel is now looking tired.
Fantastic location and caters well for people with mobility issues and good value for the money
Great location
Clean tidy great Location
Parking
I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere coupled with a wonderful ambience... the staff are very welcoming and professional... what a stunning location.
My arrival and sign in was a painless and happy process , greeted by a jovial guy addressing me by name.My room was easy to find , employing the lift to the second floor. The selected room was clean , tidy and smelt non musty... ensuite shower , wash basin and loo , sparkling and clean.
Welcoming and well appointed for a wheelchair user.
Breakfast was a little lacking for 9am arrival.

Emplacement, vue et gentillesse du personnel.
Un frigo dans la chambre
Nice view from hotel Decent shower
Very run down, not shabby chic just shabby. Very poor quality breakfast, dreadful coffee. Room small and large balcony really dirty with old dirty furniture and blown glass in door. No privacy on balcony, next door could see into our room and their smoking made us keep the windows shut.
Lokalizacja
Brak parkingu pomimo, że był w ofercie, brak klimatyzacji, ani jeden z trzech pokoji nie miał widoku na morze, tylko na ściane sąsiednich budynków
Comfortable and relaxing place
Wanted up dating and a coat of paint here and there
Great location if you have time to sit and look at the view over Torbay very quiet room great breakfast comfy bed did exactly what it said on the tin good night sleep good breakfast
Was great and really friendly for a hotel
Absolutely outstanding hotel staff are amazing will help you 💯 % and breakfast yummy yummy 😋
Really nice friendly helpful staff.
Friendly staff and great location especially for the Theatre
Not a lot
Great location, nice staff
Dirty, tired room, needs money investing
Great position. We had a sea view room which was lovely. Very friendly staff.
The whole place feels a bit tired. Could do with a freshening up. No room service the days we stayed
Plenty of choice. Very good.
Bed a little too soft. Toast machine unreliable.
My room was on the 3rd floor, how did you know I was able to take the stairs?
Position
Could hear noise from other rooms.
Beautiful view. Comfy bed. Good food
Nothing really.
Room, view
Entertainment room not big enough
Location
Dated
Breakfast was superb, lots of choice, well presented , staff were very attentive, tables were well set, very enjoyable.
Everything was perfect, my only one ask, would be a net curtain at windows leading on to balcony, just for privacy.
I didn’t have a sea view but that was alright because I didn’t, spend much time at the hotel Breakfast was fine I had a good table by the sea view window I would have liked a safe in my room
There was no sitting area inside during the day except the coffee area with hard chairs
Super hotel very helpful staff and the location on babacome downs is just superb
It was a bit to hot for me , not sure who I would complain to about that
Excellent stay, hotel has stunning views across Babbacombe Bay, evening meal was very enjoyable and tasty. Very wide choice of Breakfast from traditional full English to Gluten free options & fruit. Very relaxing enjoyable atmosphere, spot on.
All perfect.
On the front with parking if booked early enough which is important to us as we don’t use the car once we reach a destination. So need it to be safe and secure while we explore.
Feel it needs updating quite old fashioned and needs a good freshen up. Just felt a bit dated but we had a good time and the staff were lovely all of them. Also great there was a Costa attached to the hotel.
Beautiful, peaceful location
No full length mirror in bedroom
good breakfast room small but clean view amazing
Local to my needs
Nothing
I like the location and the staff were very friendly property could do with some renovation I think 🤔
Nothing
View amazing . Breakfast really good and dinner exceptional.Room nice and cosy bed .
Maybe a bit of updateting in the furniture. ie wardrobe and cupboards.
Great food great view and location
We were able to reserve a parking space for a fee, breakfast & evening meal were self serve which suited us as we hate hanging around to be served in the morning. we were solo travellers but the main clientele were from coach trips but this made no difference to our stay, especially pleased with the choice of menu in the dining room, the chef was excellent and catering for a large number of people at the same time.We had a sea view room and the view was marvellous, we were pre warned that our room was over the concert hall and was noisy but music stopped at 10-30 so that was ok,we would use the hotel again if visiting Babbacombe
not much to complain about. the bathroom sink was cracked & the toilet difficult to flush, there was however a big problem in our room with condensation and we did feel cold at times, we didn't feel the need to complain at the time as it didn't affect our enjoyment but pointed it out to the manager on departure so it could be rectified for the next occupant
Right on the cliff overlooking the sea
Nothing really. Except no mushrooms for the breakfast
Great location and value
The location.
A little bit old fashion. Require refurb in places.
Location
Room could have been warm when we arrived
Breakfast, room and view was excellent.
Better sized bath towels, need updating and preferably to bath sheets.
Service very good, staff very good and chatty nothing seemed too much trouble. Sea view from our balcony was superb.
Problem parking at the hotel and surrounding area even though it was mid October. We could only pay £10 per night on site for two out of four night stay. The last day we were allowed to park in a free bay to load the car and have a good Sunday lunch before setting off. The balcony which we paid extra for was in need of a good clean and repaint, the table was covered in green algae, wasn’t really a pleasant place to sit and have a drink and enjoy the view.
A very warm welcome, even when arriving late in the day. Everything was explained well and the staff were very helpful and kind. Rooms were nice, with amazing views and very comfy beds. Large Balcony in room 27 was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, with helpful and attentive staff.
Only slight downside, was rather a small shower in room 29, difficult for a large man to comfortable shower in.
Lovely hotel good food good entertainment friendly staff. What more could you ask for.
All good
All was great
The property was great and the staff but was a little disappointed with the evening buffet
Beautiful view from room which had very old fashioned furniture. No table on balcony as shown on hotel description. Towels old and thin. Despite catering for many elderly and disabled people there was only one tiny lift which was difficult to get to. Luckily I am able to use stairs.
As above apart from view. Felt like a school canteen in dining room but food ok except breakfast where fried eggs looked dry with skin on top.
I came to stay here to see where my Mum and Dad stayed for their honeymoon in 1955! Previously The Sefton and popular. It retains a slightly old-fashioned style but tasteful. Nice ambience and pleasant clientele. Staff excellent. Breakfast cooked just as I like it. Nice views. Pleasant quiet area. Pleasant, spacious, light communal spaces, including coffee lounge, overlooking sea; background music not intrusive. Other hotels adjacent and main street not far away and attractions. In short, just the kind of place I like!
The folded case rack fell out of the wardrobe onto me. Would be better if it was stored just in front of, methinks. Creaky floorboards above me and loud speaking gentleman on phone late. Solved by my trusty earplugs.
Step out of the hotel straight onto the downs. Lovely room and view from room 17 including a nice modern bathroom with a powerful refreshing bar shower. Buffet breakfast all freshly cooked and warm,. We also had two excellent 3 course evening meals in the hotel. Enjoyed the hotel entertainment and we even won a prize on the "Bingo". Hope to return for a longer stay sometime soon.
Very little to be critical of really perhaps the decoration could do with a touch up in places, however it is a busy hotel with a lot of footfall so to be expected really. Oh, we could have done without the fire alarm going off in the early hours on the 2nd night!
The staff were absolutely amazing. What a wonderful friendly bunch of individuals creating a happy atmosphere
Nothing
Although very clean and tidy the hotel is dated and definitely needs an upgrade especially with making the rooms more soundproof. During our stay the fire alarm kept going off during the night. We had to call reception to clarify if we needed to evacuate or not which we found poor as the majority of guests appeared to be quite elderly. There was no explanation or apology from staff the next day. This is a moderately expensive hotel and we expected better.
The location was okay with views of the shoreline but no practical access to the beach and the surrounding facilities were also a bit basic
When we arrived there was no staff to check us in we had to wait until someone turned up me and my husband both have bad backs and we had to climb 2 flights of stairs we won’t be going back there
The hotel was very clean. In a lovely location and the staff were very friendly. Close to m9del railway and a short walk to the venicular that takes uou to the beach.pp perfect if you want a few days doing nothing
The queues for entry to the dining room. The hotel itself is dated. It's a hotel for the more senior guest. Would not recommend for families.
Quiet Food excellent Lovely bar Good experience

Excellent location. Sea view rooms with balconies are worth the upgrade. Good choice of breakfast and evening meal. Friendly staff.
Nothing.

Our room was very nice, with a balcony. lovely step in shower. The staff were always very courteous, friendly, and helpful. Meals were self service, lovely food, carvery every day. All running like clockwork.
