NOX Hostel

O hotel está em uma região excelente e tranquila. A poucos metros de uma estação de metrô, e logo em frente a um supermercado (o que pode ser muito útil em uma cidade cara como Toronto). Há também muitos restaurantes e fast foods nas redondezas. Não há recepção. Na entrada do hostel há um interfone. Na chegada basta utilizá-lo que um responsável vai abrir a porta. Após o checkin é fornecida uma senha para as entradas posteriores. O checkin antecipado não foi permitido mas permitiram utilizar o depósito de bagagens de forma gratuita, tanto na chegada quanto na saída. Em cada andar há dois banheiros para utilização geral. No subsolo e no piso superior há cozinhas onde pode ser preparadas refeições leves.

As acomodações (quarto e banheiro) podem ser modernizadas. Mas nada que assuste os interessados.

The blankets were actually so comfortable it made getting up on our vacation very hard. The gentlemen who own/work there are very nice too. I didn’t use the kitchen but it looked very nice too. It was a very cute property too.

The walls are pretty thin and the metal bunkbed frames moved and squeaked a lot, it was hard to like shift in my sleep without waking up either myself or the person I shared the bed with. I think it’s an excellent building it’s very cute, it’s just there’s a heavier presence of people under the influence of substances in the general area during both day and night, but that’s not the NOX’s fault.

Emplacement parfait ! Une grande diversité de restaurants et de commerces à proximité, avec un centre commercial juste en face et même plusieurs restaurants ouverts 24h/24. Idéal pour manger à toute heure !

À part les sols qui grincent, il n’y a pas vraiment de choses à améliorer. L’accueil et les consignes étaient clairs et précis. Dans l’ensemble, tout était correct, et l’établissement est situé dans un beau quartier, chic et sécurisé.

L’hébergement est très bien situé. Il se trouve juste en face d’un supermarché qui ouvre de 8h à 22h du lundi au samedi et jusqu’à 21h le dimanche. Il y a également un McDonald’s ouvert 24h/24, très pratique en cas de besoin. La station de métro se trouve à 5 minutes à pied, avec la ligne 2 – Sherbourne. La ligne 1 est à environ 10 minutes à pied, mais nous prenions la ligne 2 et, chaque fois, nous descendions une station plus loin pour recuperer la ligne 1, le quai est juste à proximité. Vous avez aussi le bus 75. On se retrouve très rapidement dans le centre-ville (environ 15 minutes) et, franchement, on peut facilement accéder à tous les sites d’intérêt, même à pied pour ceux qui aiment marcher. Nous étions 2 adultes et 2 enfants et avons séjourné 10 nuits. Aucun bruit la nuit et aucune difficulté avec les salles de bains communes : il y en a 2 presque à chaque étage. L’hébergement est propre. Il y a deux cuisines communes, de grands réfrigérateurs et un minimum de vaisselle à disposition. Le personnel est au top, toujours souriant et disponible ! La cuisine ferme à 23h, mais c’est tout aussi bien pour les résidents : le calme est ainsi assuré. Il n’est pas possible d’y faire cuire de la viande, sauf le matin, en raison des odeurs de cuisson qui peuvent se diffuser dans les étages. Là encore, je trouve que c’est une bonne démarche pour le confort des résidents. Nous faisions donc cuire notre viande le matin lorsque nous en avions besoin, puis nous la réchauffions au micro-ondes le soir, avant 23h.

It was pretty good overall. I felt safe. The staff was lovely. The location was very good. I think all in all it was a good experience and the ease of arrival and departure was smooth. I enjoyed the quiet. I had all good sleeps except for only one night when a person kept pacing back and forth the hallway with luggage in the middle of the night going past my room. I had a nice time here and even had a good spot to study and work on some assignments from a course I visited Toronto for.

I have to shower every day, and it was not a good experience. I stayed 5 nights and all five showers were very awkward. Also, I was not offered more than one towel. I was too shy to ask for an extra towel. My room began to smell funny from the lack of airflow and a damp towel air-drying every morning. It was not a deal breaker as I was happy to have my private room.

You get what you pay for: a hostel-lke stay (you can have your own room) in a no frills, casual hostel. The rooms aren't big, so when you are with a group it can become crowded. Arguably it is more a budget hotel than a hostel.

What I didn't like is that, for some reason, you don't get daily fresh towels. According to the reception (owner I think) 'this is not how it happens' (quote / unquote). With the warm temperatures of summer a shower is almost mandatory, so this is a strange policy. Also the airco was loud, and cannot be controlled from the rooms themselves.

Was a great stay for us. We just needed a place to sleep at night and to grab a shower in the morning. Fit the bill nicely. Just keep in mind it is a hostel so your sharing the place with other people. And if you would like can get some laundry done.

We checked-out before we could checkin. The triple-sharing room they gave us for 5-nights had water leaking from it's roof. They didn't have another triple-sharing & equivalent room. The Caretaker offered us 2 smaller rooms on 2 different floors (one being their stuffy Basement) with Wash-&-Bathrooms also split on different floors. Hence I rejected their compromised offer and most justifiably but politely requested Property-owner Mr. Adams to accept my request for 100% refund on Booking.com. He initially accepted my request ie verbally. I wrote an extremely polite request message even though the Caretaker Mr Joseph told me the same room's roof was repaired 2 weeks back too! He also said Mr. Adam has conveyed to him that he'll do the needful wrt my request for a refund of CAD 1054 and that I can book an alternative accommodation for 5-nights. I finally located 2BR Chic Apartments just 1.7 KMs away from Selby Street. It was a 2-room Studio Apartment on 251 Jarvis Street and had ALL conceivable facilities available in it. I happily paid CAD 220 per night to Booking.com ie just CAD 10 more that the dungeon called NOX-Hostel! Next day I received Mr Adam's message that he's rejecting my request as this booking was done under No-Refund on "No-show" Policy and I'd rejected the 'upgraded' accommodation offered to us, which was 💯% false. This guy is scamming unsuspecting & gullible travellers via Booking.com! Request them to de-list Properties of such cheats asap.

Banheiros sempre ocupados, são poucos e nem sempre estão tão limpos. Além disso, os funcionários não são tão receptivos/ simpáticos. Queriam me cobrar uma taxa de 30 dólares caso eu chegasse depois da meia noite, mas só informaram isso horas antes de eu chegar na cidade e eu estava indo num voo com horário planejado previamente.

La ubicación era perfecta, nunca había estado en un hostal y me parecio agradable la experiencia. Solo que hay que esperar mucho para usar los baños.

NOX Hostel was great value for Toronto. The location was convenient, the people staying there were friendly, and the owners were very helpful throughout my stay. It had a relaxed atmosphere with no drama, which made the stay easy and comfortable.

L'Hôtel est vraiment propre dans un quartier relativement bien situé sur une rue calme. Le prix était "décent" c'est vraiment que Toronto est cher et donc ce logement offre une option abordable.

Everything regarding an hostel is EXCELLENT! The staff is ATTENTIVE. The kitchentte is super clean and has everything a person needs for FREE. There are 3 washrooms and 3 showeres. Linen is replaced weekly.

The kitchenette closes at 7 p.m. and opens at 8 a.m. A towel in the washoom for drying one's hand would be nice. The room with bunkbeds tend to be too cool at night. The people who stay have no complaints.

Check-in was very easy and smooth, which made arrival stress-free. The location felt safe and was conveniently close to public transportation, making it easy to get around. While not in the center, it was somewhat walkable, and I appreciated having access to a very nice, modern, and well-equipped kitchen for guests.

Some guests were quite loud in the hallways late at night, which disrupted sleep (though this isn’t really the hostel’s fault). The blanket provided was a bit too thin for the colder nighttime temperatures. Also, while the area is decent, it’s not especially close to major tourist sites unless you’re willing to spend extra time walking.

Next to the supermarket. The location is next to public transport, and it's also walkable to the sightseeing if you don't mind a bit of a walk.

The kitchen is for heating up, not cooking food with odors. There are rooms attached to the kitchen. Ready-to-eat meals are available in fridges and on shelves. Our shared room was quite small for two bunk beds, but we managed even with a big luggage.

Es de lo más económico que hay en Toronto. Y es comodísimo. Cálido, agradable. Camas cómodas, taquillas eficientes, cocina estupenda con buena nevera, y los baños con ducha con varios, amplios y perfectos. Estuve en la habitación de 2 literas (4 camas); de tamaño es justa pero está muy bien, no hace falta más, y justo afuera tiene una amplia y tranquila salita con sofá y TV. El dueño, Jōzsef, es educado y atento. Es un edificio entero, chulísimo y todo moderno por dentro. Me encanta que sea norma de la casa el no hacer ruidos y respetar las horas de sueño y que eso se haga cumplir. Como debería ser en todos los alojamientos..

Bueno hubiese deseado un precio más económico, pero esto lo digo por Booking. Por desgracia no existe más económico en Toronto. No es Noruega ni Suiza ni los EEUU, pero tampoco es país barato Canadá

Location, house and personel

I had originally booked a place in Chinatown but changed to stay at the Nox and I'm very glad I did. Location was great and I felt very safe with the door code and security cameras on every floor. The kitchen had everything I needed and the showers were nice and clean. The staff were also pleasant every time I walked past whoever was sitting at the front door.

While not the fault of the property , It needs to be said that you may see some weird and eye opening behaviour walking around the area although I saw this everywhere I went in Toronto.
