A quaint mini bungalow within nature for an absolute steal. To top it off you’re hosted by two beautiful & caring people, Gregory & Shanti. On my arrival in the evening at around 6pm I was greeted by my host & was advised to try and not wander out in the evening as there are maybe wild elephants roaming around. And if I do hear elephants roaming I should stay indoors. The first thing that came to my mind was, “yeah right, I guess they want their guests to stay indoors”. How I was so wrong. I learned the next day that around the time of my arrival and advice given, a Hungarian gentleman was killed in the presence of his wife by a wild elephant a stone throw away from Sigiri Elephant View House https://www.adaderana.lk/news.php?nid=118537 Sigiriya is not Pataya nor Galle & I trust for most the main reason of our visit is for its rich cultural heritage (especially the Lions Rock) & its nature. There isn’t much night life in Sigiriya either. Instead of being put off by their presence, why not try to coexist peacefully, respecting their boundaries at all times. A dance of mutual respect: we give them space, and they give us the privilege of witnessing their world. The accommodation is after all named “Sigiriya Elephant View …” for a reason.

Shanty and Gregory are some of the nicest and friendliest people we have ever met…as other reviews said, they truly felt like our grandparents! The guesthouse was spacious and clean with a lovely porch area to sit out and their garden is lovely to look at! The breakfast each morning was tasty and we enjoyed the traditional dinner they made for us at a good price! We will never forget getting to know them, laughing with them and the kindness they showed us! It has been our favourite stay in Sri Lanka yet!

We will miss them :(

If you are looking for the most beautiful, heartwarming local guest house experience, this is the place to stay. The guest house is run by the most caring and hospitable elderly couple. They will do everything in their power to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. We feel so blessed to have met with lovely couple. Your stay here will 100% make a difference to this lives and that alone made this stay beautiful. They are so grateful for your stay, especially as the war has impacted their lives so significantly. The room is tidy, clean, air con works well. The water pressure is like most places we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka, and we had the odd wildlife visitor (to be expected in the jungle though!). Breakfast was served at a time that suited us, and was different every day and super filling. They serve a lot! We will miss this place.

We were welcomed like Family to this beautiful oasis in Sigiriya. The accommodation is a beautiful studio room in their incredible tranquil garden. As many other reviews have said we felt like we were being welcomed by our grandparents and when I wasn’t feeling well I was offered herbs from their garden to sooth my stomach. We also had homemade kottu with them which was incredible. We are so grateful for our time at Elephant view!

Wow!! This is truly one of my favourite accommodations of all time. Shanty and Gregory are just the most amazing people, and I enjoyed time spent laughing with them, or walking around the garden learning about all the plants. The food they prepare is out of this world and I would visit again just for that! They have bicycles for rent, which is an amazing way to see the surrounding area. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and set amongst beautiful surroundings. Just wish I could have stayed longer!

The hosts are very lovely people! They make sure you feel welcomed and safe all the time. We truly had the best stay here. Also, they offer the best food!! Would highly recommend staying here.

Everything was beyond perfect!

This hotels location is super convenient. Very close to the sigiriya rock and to various restaurants! The old couple that has the room is amazing and very friendly, I will miss you guys!! ❤️ You should definitely have to order dinner, Sandy cooks amazing food! I highly recommend this place, you’ll not regret it. Thank for everything!!

we loved everything! the room was super nice, comfy and seperated from the hosts house. the hosts, gregory and shanty, are super kind, very funny, have the best laughs and make the best food! all in all a 10/10 experience. our best home stay experience yet. if you are in Sigiriya and want the best food and kindest people, go to elephant view!

After visiting several big cities, this was the perfect place to stay somewhere quieter and more relaxing. The accommodation is located in a peaceful area surrounded by birds singing and the observation was very relaxing. We were supposed to stay 2 days but we extended our stay because the company of our two hosts was very pleasant. They are very smiling, kind, communicative people and they took care of us as if we were members of their family. We had the chance to taste different traditional dishes during breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious, and the proportions very very generous! We also had the opportunity to have the wonderful recipes that our hosts prepared for us during our stay, including my favorite: eggplant salad!! The accommodation is close to lion rock, and two lakes where you can observe apes, cows, birds and peacocks living in complete tranquility. We also had bicycles, which were easily usable as the routes are very flat. We will keep great memories of our time in Sigiriya, in particularly thanks to the welcome we received. Don't hesitate to choose this place, you won't be disappointed!

."We loved the place, beautiful and comfortable room's it was very clean, beds really comfortable, delicious traditional food, all the activities easy to arrange in place, lion rock is 10 minutes drive, you can visit dambulla (20 min)
