Fern House

The apartment and the whole house is very cozy and clean. There are beautiful shared spaces (living room, bathroom, kitchen, winter garden). The room itself is small, but ok (if you don't plan on spending much time there). :) We appreciated communication with host, nothing was a problem and they replied almost immediately.

Beautiful home! Lucas, the host, was extremely reliable and friendly. I definitely recommend staying here 😊

It was clean and mostly quiet

It said parking and the parking is street parking that you are supposed to have a permit for but also very difficult to get a free space. We were in one of the upstairs rooms and it was way too hot with no fan or anything. We only booked here for parking and that was extremely difficult

This place is geared to a solo traveler who needs to stay for a while. It has a lovely sunroom and living room, and there was a nice kitchen, all of which really wasn't useful for a 2 night stay. There was a good pub and pizza place a block away, and there were several buses that stopped on the same block that headed downtown, so getting around without a car was easy.

The room was very small, and it had a shared bath with around 5 other guestrooms. Although I thought it would be a nightmare, it wasn't so bad. Didn't like grey sheets and black towels - they might be a design choice, but never seem altogether clean (you can't bleach black). Finding the place and parking was a nightmare (it is located up a walkway, along a walking path above the street level, and initially parking was a couple of blocks away. We were able to move the car closer the first evening. Lucky we were there on a weekend as parking is by permit the rest of the time. Altho there was no 'staff', the 'host' was available via text and provided answers quickly.

Comfortable room with a strong location, access to both rail and bus stations as well as a moderate walk into the city centre.

I would make it explicitly clear that some rooms contain a shared bathroom.

Leider kann ich die Unterkunft nicht empfehlen. Das Haus sieht von außen schon ungepflegt aus. Der Gang war schmutzig. Das Zimmer ist absolut klein. Koffer abstellen oder sogar öffnen geht nicht. Das Waschbecken im Bad ist das kleinste, das ich jemals gesehen habe.

The walk from the city centre was a little further than expected, though I now know there are regular buses. An en suite would be ideal. Overall, no serious negatives.

Wish we had known about the sheer amount of stairs and especially those outside as we took she's to find a stage to park to then bring bags up. Quite difficult for us. 4 plus flights of stairs was not expected....

Really great place to stay when in Cork, cute little house, very clean also ! Instruction for check-in and check-out where very clear. If we come back to Cork we will definitly come back there !

I was booked but told that instructions would be provided the day before I arrive. I did not receive instructions until I had arrived in Cork and the instructions were quite lengthy and complex. Since I had arrived late afternoon and needed to go immediately to dinner with friends, I inquired if I could just leave my luggage in a safe area lace until afterwards. The answer was to leave my luggage in the front room, which I felt very uneasy about. With all the late and complicated and lengthy instructions plus the distance away from the station to reach them to align with dinner and not having a safe place for luggage plus feeling overwhelmed with the expectations and lack of support, I requested a cancellation and refund. The answer was just as impersonal and complex and expensive as the word Policy was used to explain that they didn’t care and they will keep my money and not offer anything that can make my stay work. Unaccommodating. Inhumane. And cruel.

I wasn’t treated fairly and was deliberately inconvenienced and then stolen from by this place. They could do WAY better in treating guests with respect and care.

My son and I stayed here for 1 night, and it was a very pleasant experience. The decor and quality of the furnishings were good, the house was quiet, and the location was good with an easy walk into town, given the tricky parking in the centre of Cork. We loved the coffee roasters just a minute down the road for the morning kick-start!

We felt that the cost was a bit high which was disappointing, but I think this is the general case with Cork City. We risked parking on the main street to begin with, as we had no parking permits, but we were advised that generally the authorities don't check.

Good location if you’re ready to walk, lovely sitting room and kitchen. Very nice host.

The place was excellent and well located. Everything was super clean and the house looked peaceful and quiet. :)

It is not a big deal but In an email with all the information it was said there was coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk available for guests. I relayed on this and didn't buy any milk on my arrival late at night. Next morning there was no milk, the same happened the morning. To be honest it was the only thing that kind of bothered me as all I wanted was a coffee before leaving the house. Wouldn't have had any issues if it wasn't mentioned before hand in an email. Otherwise the house was brilliant and I really recommend it.

General surfaces dust free but carpet needs a vacuum. Plant on window sill dying so we watered it.

The host, Lucas, was extremely helpful and friendly. The living arrangement felt very cozy and quiet. The surrounding area is very nice and full of greenery. There is also everything one might need for cooking. Absolutely great.

Very convenient for a short stay and close to the centre of town. Host was lovely and house it kept beautifully.

The shared bathroom is difficult if you get up in the night. Parking is a nightmare with free parking from 6.30pm till 8.30 am. Getting parking outside that time is really expensive and difficult to set up. No TV in room.

Fern House is an absolutely lovely guest house very close to the centre of Cork, super convenient to walk down the hill to loads of restaurants. The house was beautifully decorated and clean; the common spaces were luxurious and spacious. The kitchen and facilities were well maintained and easy to use. Lucas was very helpful and warm! I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this guest house to friends and family!

Nice accommodation, clean, comfortable beds, cosy. The shared bathroom is great, impecable. The shared kitchen is very convenient and well equipped.

Recibimos la instrucciones por email, según las cuales nos indicaban el código para el lockbox donde se encontraban las llaves de nuestra habitación. Fue muy sencillo. La habitación era acogedora, y la cama especialmente cómoda. Tenía un baño un poco estrecho pero con una ducha maravillosa de cuya alcachofa salía muchísima agua, algo que me encanta. En la planta baja, además de zona común, hay una cocina bastante grande con absolutamente todo lo que se te ocurra para poder hacerte de comer, así como espacio de almacenamiento para todos los huésspedes. También café y té para uso común. En nuestro viaje, pasábamos dos noches en este alojamiento en Cork, otra noche en Kenmare, y la última también en Cork pero en otro alojamiento... Finalmente, decidimos cancelar nuestra otra habitación y dado que seguía libre la que estábamos disfrutando en "Fern House", volvimos a reservar la última noche aquí. Estábamos muy cómoda.

No había secador de pelo en la habitación con baño privado. No estoy muy segura si lo habría en el baño compartido, pero es cierto que, especialmente en un país donde hace tanto frío, es muy necesario que haya uno.

Nice area, very quiet with good amenities. Went early April and was a little bit cold in the room at night but there were extra blankets and pillows in the closet. Plenty of sockets and very good amount of storage as well as a desk and 2 chairs in the room. Strong wifi also. The bathroom and shared spaces were clean as well as the room itself (room number 4). Felt very safe in the area. There seemed to be parking spaces in front of the terrace and there were restaurants and cafés within a 5 minute walk. The city was about a 15 minute walk and there were buses too. Overall good location, facilities and easy to understand check-in instructions.

Was a little cold as the window didnt seem to close properly and the radiator didn't work. The property would not be accessible for someone with mobility issues (lots of stairs to get to the building). 1 bathroom was a bit inconvenient but not awful. The room was a bit small.

Very quiet, clean and comfortable. I had a room with an shared bathroom. It was clean, bright with a great shower. Kitchen was a real bonus for me and there was also a ccosy livingroom and nice garden.It was perfect for my needs. Lukas keeps a very nice house and is very helpful and accomodating.

I have a back injury so steps upbto the house but that is to be expected in Cork

Quarto pequeno mas confortável, boa cama, sossegado. Cozinha disponível para preparar refeições com todos os utensílios. Lucas foi simpático e prestável.

Sympathique maison, bien équipée, propre et moderne. Idéal pour avoir un logement confortable le soir et passer la journée à visiter la ville. Proche de plusieurs commerces immédiat (café, pub, petit magasin), et à 10/15 minutes à pied (5 en bus, qui passe juste à côté) du centre ville. Je recommande fortement à toutes les personnes qui veulent un endroit agréable pour dormir la nuit et visiter la journée !

Piso muy limpio, tranquilo y acogedor. La habitación era silenciosa y habia calefacción. El baño compartido olía muy bien y estaba caliente. Muy bonita las zonas comunes. Recomendado 100%.

El piso no está muy céntrico pero hay transporte publico o se puede ir unos 25 minutos andando.

Shared house but we met only one person. Its really great to have access to the kitchen, the living room, the garden. Its clean and beautiful!

Great communication with hosts as im not used to travelling a lot alone so to have Ciaran and Iona on hand for simple things like keys and directions was very helpful.

Location. Hosts were very flexible in letting us drop off luggage until check in. Had use of refrigerator. Very quiet area. Lively pub down on the corner along with a coffee roasters. Would stay again.

This place is really close to town, very comfortable, even has a nice space to watch TV in the cold months and a full kitchen and conservatory. An amazing bathroom and soft towels. The hosts are very knowledgeable about how to get around.

What can I say . IMPECCABLE. Classy, relaxed. I would say its best described as a small luxurious hostel, with maybe 6-8 rooms.This place is self catering, clear instructions on how to access were given and you can just toddle about the communal areas , you can cook a dinner in the kitchen, do laundry , enjoy the cosy clean setup. I spent the evening in the lovely cosy tv room and there was a beautiful christmas tree, blankets and complementary hot chocolate tea and coffee. Also a massive tv with all apps on it. You can go about your business as you wish, no one else came in the whole evening to use the tv room. It is like a very elegant hostel. AND ITS A STEAL great value. I didn't see any other guests and I met the host once (i think it was the host it may have been another guest), just when i was struggling to get in the door because i had all my bags. They didnt linger and its very much like the hostel stye thing of ... just someone being there in case you need them. Of course there were other guests in the house but all very quite. Perfect for if you are working in cork and need a place to stay for the night honestly. Only drawback is on street parking. But the quality of the place made up for it and I got a spot close by on the street.

Plusieurs chambres dans un hébergement partagé avec le propriétaire. Cuisine équipée disponible, pas privative, mais très bien pour se préparer un petit-déjeuner ou un diner léger. Petite chambre mansardée avec sa salle de bain, propre. Bien situé pour se rendre dans le centre de Cork à pied.

La chambre n'est pas bien grande si vous restez plusieurs jours. Si vous arrivez tard et en voiture, il sera sans doute difficile de vous garer. Nous sommes arrivés à 18h30 et avons eu la chance de trouver une place, la seule disponible, au pied de l’hébergement. Dans la journée, aucun problème de stationnement. Attention, stationnement payant, en principe limitée à deux heures mais on peut le renouveler sans aucun problème avec l'application du Cork City Council tout en étant loin du véhicule :-). Une bonne solution étant donné le prix des parkings en centre-ville.
