Reviewed Sep 15, 2026Very convenient for train and bus connections. The staff were great - friendly and going the extra mile to be helpful. Being able to check in late after a delayed flight was much appreciated. The breakfast was excellent value - nothing cooked but buffet style and plenty of toast, cereal, fruit, tea/coffee and juice. The room was clean, the shower worked and eventually ran warm.
The room was cramped and I prefer a bed in which I can sit up. I'm 6' (1m80) and had to be careful not to crack my head getting in and out. The place has a 'cheap and cheerful', slightly tatty vibe but felt overpriced compared with hostels in the UK.

I would have been better to have some usefull tools at disposal at the reception as it is a tourist hotel : for example the adapter for the electrical outlet or locks for the room's cages.

The lack of private bathrooms and shower made me slightly uncomfortable. Additionally you cant control the temperature of the water. The hostel is on an incredibly steep hill so it might not be disability friendly getting there without a car. If you get a bunk bed you tend to have stuff fall off into the nook by the wall. The hostel seems to be better suited for large group books or school trips, but if you're a solo traveler theres a lack of comfort. Also, I found the hostel overall restrictive. The kitchen closes quite early, so does the patio smoking area and the front door, even the sauna cant be booked past 8pm.

Had to pay extra luggage storage even if I stayed 2 night in the same hostel. Greedy about money, everything costs extra. They totally not respect costumers with their wishes, difficulties. Thanks for nothing- never again!

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026Heel groot hostel dat met veel kamers heel wat gasten kan herbergen. Hierdoor kan het best druk zijn. Desondanks was het een heel aangenaam verblijf, onze tweepersoonskamer was klein maar dat hadden we verwacht. Het is op wandelafstand van Cork centrum en bevat alles wat een hostel moet hebben: gemeenschappelijke ruimte, lockers, chill ruimte, keuken...
De bedden waren heel hard, de kamer was heel klein, en het kon best rumoerig zijn. Maar vanaf het stilte uur begon, heb ik er geen last van gehad.

Reviewed Sep 2, 2026The Hostel is really youth friendly with all the amenities required and the main advantage it gives is the kitchen where we can cook our own food and store it as well. The staff is quite helpful and friendly. Overall a great experience.
The room sizes could have been a bit bigger with some more ventilation.

Reviewed Sep 2, 2026This is very good hostel. Everything works, it is near the centre, the price is optimal. I visit every year a few times. You have curtains to close yourself in to your own cocoon. Mattress is good for my back. Pillow is good quality. Duvet is very warm. I slept really well in a female only dorm. It was quiet. The staff is always great and friendly. Do not hesitate to book here for a few nights stay 👍🏻
Shower head on the wall. I do not think that you can effectively get yourself clean with them when you are woman. I wish that they had handheld showers in some shower stalls. And perhaps a few more hooks in the showers and in the dorms (close to your bed). Else, it is missing nothing! See you soon again! 🥰

The breakfast area is useful and comfortable with many items so to make breakfast an easy meal. Tea and toast is made by hosts. I will visit again

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026It was relatively close to the center of the city. The staff were all very nice. Reception is staffed 24 hours.
The plumbing was totally messed up - the first night we didn’t have any running water, the second day the faucet in the sink wouldn’t turn off. The shower is terrible - you have to hold a button down to keep the water running and there is no way to adjust the temperature. The room was very warm and there were no fans. The walls were very thin and you could hear everything in the hall and the room next door. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The bed frame was very flimsy, any time my friend in the top bunk moved it shook the whole bed. The fire alarm went off after 12:30am and stayed on for at least five minutes even though there was no fire.

Most things were great. These were only small points Automatic taps everywhere waste water, especially in shower & when cleaning teeth Things that fell down the side of the bed very difficult to extricate. A little pocket would have helped. Cork is very hilly. It's only a 5 minute climb, but steep at end of day! Lots sharp knives, but no scissors in kitchen. Salt would've been good too!
