Gregory House Hostel

Está a 1 minuto a pie del lago que es precioso. La familia que lleva el alojamiento era encantadora. Cenamos riquísimo y super económico. El desayuno también estuvo muy bien.

Había humedad en la habitación. Esto es algo general en esta zona ya que visitamos otros cafés con hotel y todos tenían el mismo problema.

El noi era molt amable, ens va recomanar un lloc per dinar que va ser brutal! Lloc molt tranquil i perfecte per aparcar el nostre tuk tuk de lloguer.

Vam arribar i feia fred, amb l’edredon al llit no vam passar fred, pero a l’habitacio no s’estaba gaire confortable. Pero ens vam tapar be!

Absolutely loved my stay here! The location is perfect, right in front of Gregory Lake, with beautiful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The stay was very comfortable, and the host was super fun, friendly, and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re staying in Nuwara Eliya! 🇱🇰✨

El dueño es encantador. Muy amable, nos trató genial. Cenamos en el alojamiento comida casera muy rica. A la mañana siguiente nos preparo un buen desayuno. El ambiente en el hostel es muy agradable entre turistas.

The toilet semells humid, it is mandatory to open the Windows. The bed wasn't very confortable

Super Unterkunft und sehr netter Host. Abends hat er für uns ein Lagerfeuer gemacht und sich sonst auch immer bestens um alles gekümmert.

The staff were amazing - restaurants were closed earlier than usual due to Poya and the team made us dinner at short notice. They also put a bonfire on outside because it was a cold night. Really great !!

Wir hatten einen sehr tollen Aufenthalt im Gregory House Hostel. Alle sehr zuvorkommend und gastfreundlich. Das Abendessen ist sehr zu empfehlen, es war sehr lecker, wir konnten sogar beim Zubereiten dabeisein. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Le lieu est idéalement situé à Nuwara Eliya juste à côté du Lac. Les lits ne sont pas très confortables, et ce n'est pas très bien insonorisé mais le personnel est très agréable, disponible et à l'écoute.

Great place to stay when passing through the town. Views of the lake from the property. Warm duvet on the bed and good breakfast.!!

The bathroom in the shared dorm was damp with mould on the ceiling, but I didn’t really mind. The rest of the bathroom was clean.

Nice, clean and excellent hostel, value for money. The host sibhasran take care of us for all our needs there. The location of the hostel was also fabulous like their breakfast.

Fijne sfeer, rustig, personeel is aanwezig op prettige manier op de achtergrond, zijn beschikbaar als je ze nodig hebt, hele dag gratis koffie en thee mogelijk. Voelde heel huiselijk en ontspannen. Lekker ontbijt!

Bedden waren niet geweldig, beetje doorgelegen, echter wel lekker geslapen. Badkamer was simpel en niet super schoon, maar goed genoeg.

Per risparmiare la mia ragazza mi ha portato in questo posto che dalle immagini sembrava accettabile e per non litigare ho dovuto accettare. Una volta entrato non vedevo l’ora di scappare: la stanza era umida e molto sporca, il lavandino otturato, la doccia era rotta e il bagno puzzava di fogna ed era completamente bagnato ovunque, anche sui sanitari, per le “pulizie” che avevano fatto. Prima di dormire ho dovuto fare pure la caccia alle zanzare Nota positiva: il giorno dopo la mia ragazza ha ammesso che avevo ragione

De locatie was goed. Op loopafstand van de leuke plekjes om te eten. Vriendelijk personeel dat met je meedenkt.

Het hotel kan een likje verf en een schoonmaakbeurt gebruiken. Ook zijn de kamers vrij klein.

Los dueños y las personas que trabajan ahí son muy amables y siempre intentan que estés cómoda y resolver cualquier inquietud del viaje. Vista increíble al lago. Buen lugar para descansar.

Los baños no estaban tan limpios.

It's a lovely place and the hosts are awesome. I ended up sick in the hospital and they brought me a blanket and brought me food every day. Forever grateful!. The location is in a nice quiet area outside of the city centre close to the lake. The hosts can take you on local tours and trails as well, I would highly recommend this place.

It was in nice spot with a view of the lake. The breakfast everyday was nice.

There was a lot of mould on the ceiling of the bedroom and the bathroom was a bit dirty

- Clean sheets - Hot water for shower - Breakfast was ok

- Hostel not well attended by staff. No one responsible/manager around on arrival or departure. - Wifi did not extend to the room. Seemed limited to common area. - Towels were old and stained. - Poor communication before and throughout stay; no reply to message confirming a charging point being available for my e-tuk tuk, or what price to charge for this was not discussed before arrival or during stay. Left with significant cost when checking out, (double that of a fast charging EV point), with the person left at the premises not able to discuss it (language barrier, but also not the manager). For context, charged off a normal wall plug for 3-4hours, so it was not special equipment.

The bed was super comfortable, the location wasn’t too far from the town, but just far enough to escape the noise. We had such a wonderful day exploring with Sujee who works alongside the hostel and offers tours!

The bathroom was not as clean as one would like.

Struttura economica e staff accogliente, hanno fatto del loro meglio per farci sentire a nostro agio. La casa era pulita.

La casa pecca un po’ in modernità delle camere, che pagano lo scotto degli anni con un po’ di umidità, qualche macchia di muffa e un cattivo isolamento. Il bagno è un po’ piccolino. In generale un po’ fredda, anche il pavimento in piastrelle.

Not as it looks in the pictures as the communal space isn’t very nice. Most of the staff were nice but some could have been more helpful.

The location is great with nice view on the lake. Breakfast was tasty with different kind of fruits. The room was clean. The staff especially Mr. Kapil was great,we had amazing and fun evening.

The rooms are much older than it looks on the photos. Wifi connection was bad - in the room or in the shared facilities.

The bed was very comfy

I had an issue with the Uber driver and asked for help from staff of the hostel. However he helped the Uber driver in an attempt to scam my money by saying 4000 rupees isn’t enough to cover the trip that I was requesting. Then asked me many questions such as why did I want to make such a trip.

The hostel had a really nice view and was a very homely layout. Location was good, bit of a walk from the centre but nicer to be by the lake. The breakfast was nice. Suj who worked at the hostel and ran our cycle tour was amazing, would defo recommend. He was very accommodating and kind and we learned a lot from him!

The bed was comfortable. Location close to the lake.

The bathroom was extremely full of mold. The ceiling, the walls. It also smells really bad and the room as well. There was mold on the ceiling in the room and common area. The friendly men who did the breakfast in the morning was coughing a lot, I presume that's the result of living in the mold. I definitely not stay there again.

Super süß eingerichtet, tolle Lage, nettes Personal, Suj war ein super Gastgeber und Guide durch Nuwara Eliya, Frühstück war RIESIG, hab Tee und Kaffee angeboten bekommen immer als ich dort war

The view is nice looking over the lake and the park. The owner was friendly.

The room we booked and the room we got, were two different things, the way it is shown on the preview is not what you get. I also feel that what you get and the amount you pay is not good value for money and it was quite expensive for this location.

Dirty damp and unhelpful staff

Gelukkig zag ik de tourguide en kon ik met hem een praatje maken en hielp mij op weg. Heel fijn!

De eigenaren spraken geen woord Engels. Dus dat was erg jammer, dus voelde me niet erg welkom. In het bed zat een hol waardoor je in een gat lag en de planken onder de voelde.
