Muy buena experiencia con este alojamiento en el que nos trataron como en casa. El encargado es un magnífico profesional que intenta en todo momento agradar. Recomiendo la cena de pollo a la barbacoa. Las habitaciones son muy amplias y espaciosas. Quizás el camino de acceso al hotel es algo complicado si vas en tuk tuk pero nos dijeron que se debía a los monzones. En cualquier caso recomendable pues el entorno del hotel es increible. Eso sí, alejado del centro pero eso para nosotros fue ideal ya que salíamos al día siguiente en ruta dirección norte.

Een prachtige villa midden in de natuur. Een mooi zwembad omgeven door gras, bomen, een riviertje.
De weg ernaar toe was wat hobbelig. We waren met onze eigen (gehuurde) tuktuk. Er was verder niets in de omgeving maar dat is prima om heerlijk tot rust te komen.

The pool had a tremendous view up and down the river and there is an abundance of bird life in the estate. It's a little out of Kurenegala (all the better for that) and is a fine base for visiting some of the smaller Buddist sites. A lovely place and astonishing value.

Nous étions seuls quasiment tout du long, ce qui nous a permis d’apprécier d’autant plus le lieu et notamment la piscine et le billard. Le service était au top, le personnel très accueillant et nous avons globalement passé un excellent moment. Le lieu est idéalement placé pour une étape entre colombo et sigiriya pour visiter des endroits comme Yapahuwa, Arankele ou le temple d’Argent.
Pas nécessairement pas aimé mais a noter que l’entrée se fait par un petit chemin de terre au milieu du jardin, pas le plus accessible

The care taker was very friendly and helpful. The shower was good with good water pressure.
The care taker didn't know we are arriving. Because of the owner didn't inform him. When we were entering the location, the gate was locked. I contacted the owner before arrival to know about the dinner options. He informed me that, it is possible to have dinner in the villa. However, suddenly, it was not possible on arrival. Because of the kitchen staff were not available. It was very uncomfortable for us. Because of we were with children and the location was far away from the nearest restaurants. Rooms were woth lots of mosquitos. Mosquito nets were not available in dvery room. The photos in the booking.com are not real. The villa is very older than the photos. It was very uncomfortable with facilities and the owner had poor communication with the care taker.

Reviewed Feb 23, 2026What a beautiful, tranquil place. Family friendly with a well kept lawn in front of the spacious porch. Can't recommend it enough. Do keep in mind, it is in the middle of nowhere, 700 meters from the nearest local road.
The cot that was confirmed for our booking was not provided. We didn't need it anymore so didn't mention it, they may have been able to provide one upon request.
Our room came with popup mosquito nets, a bit of a hassle. Would rather see ceiling hung nets.

We zagen dieren waar we recent nog op safari voor moesten gaan om ze te kunnen zien. 😁 Ook de goede zorgen van het personeel en de eigenaar waren erg fijn. De pooltafel viel ook erg in de smaak. Gelukkig overleefde ze de overstroming! Ze ziet er nu extra mooi uit, op de zes boomstronken. ☺️

Les chiens qui cours après les pan.. vraiment un lieu très reposant avec une piscine.
Nous avons atterri à 3h du matin à l'aéroport et nous sommes venus directement à l'hôtel mais malheureusement il était complet donc impossible d'avoir notre chambre.
Le gérant nous a prêté sa chambre pour qu’on puisse se reposer en attendant.
Le petit déjeuner et les repas sont vraiment excellent et abordable.
Nous vous conseillons à 100 % ce lieu.
Les propriétaires n’y sont pour rien mais il a énormément de moustique. Pensez à prendre un bon spray.

Reviewed Jan 3, 2026On our way from Negombo to Sigiriya, we stayed one night at The Twisted Tree. It is a beautiful and very peaceful place. We had a spacious room, a lovely hot shower, and a great swimming pool with a stunning view.
We were looked after by an incredibly kind and caring host. He cooked a delicious dinner for us and also prepared breakfast, which we could choose ourselves and decide what time we wanted to eat. This personal touch made our stay extra special.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for peace, comfort, and genuine hospitality.
The only small downside is that the location is a bit more secluded, meaning you’re a little farther away from restaurants and nightlife—but that’s probably not what you’re here for. Everything you’re looking for can be found at Rivendell!

Das Hotel wurde schwer vom Zyklon getroffen, was unseren Aufenthalt aber nicht beeinträchtigt hat. Der Host hat die Schäden am Hotel bereits beseitigt und die Umgebung ist nur minimal beschädigt. If you have time and a bit of luck you can spot eagle, peacock, monkeys ... it is nice to get lost among those coconut trees, plus staff is really nice and welcoming.
Road from main street to the house (cca 700m) is in bad shape. And I would prefer if dogs would not sleep on those padded chairs in front of the rooms.

Reviewed Nov 5, 2025De locatie is wat lastig te vinden. Je gaat door een hek en dan moet je nog een paar kilometer over een olifantenpaadje naar het landhuis. En hier is waar het onthaasten direct begint. Je rijdt langs palmbomen die elke 2 maanden geoogst worden. Eenmaal aangekomen wacht je een liefdevol onthaal van de eigenaar en staff. Een bizar mooie plek met zwembad en tuin waar je de rest van je verblijf kunt chillen en relaxen. Een a la carte menukaart voor lunch diner en ontbijt met dranken, waardoor je je hele verblijf de deur niet meer uit hoeft. Prachtige en grote kamer met alle faciliteiten waaronder een geweldig bed met kussens en muggen net waardoor je heerlijk slaapt in de jungle. Alles ademt historie en gastvrijheid op deze plek. Ik zal nog lang terug denken aan de avond hier en wat me werd geleerd over de Sri Lankaanse cultuur en gebruiken. Dit is echt zo’n plek waarvan je baalt dat je niet meer dagen hebt geboekt. Op nog geen twee uur rijden van Negombo en airport is dit een geweldige tussenstop voor iedereen. Boeken en meemaken!

They arranged a taxi to the airport at a good price.

Reviewed Oct 19, 2025Beautiful accommodation in the “middle of nowhere “. The staff were very nice, you have access to books, pool and a nice garden. Perfect to rest and relax. I also had the massage they offer, which was also good. You can order breakfast, lunch, diner and snacks so you don’t need to leave the property. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable bed and big bathroom.
An extra electricity point in the room, I was alone so it was fine but if they could add a splitter so you can charge two phones at the same time, that would be ideal.

Reviewed Aug 27, 2025Nous avons absolument adoré le cadre - c’était exceptionnel ! Un vrai coup de cœur de notre séjour - on peut se balader le long de la rivière, on a vu des singes et des varans.
Les chambres sont très grandes et très propres, les salles de bain sont magnifiques.
Les hôtes sont aux petits soins, ils se sont bien occupés de nos enfants, ont pu nous arranger un taxi à la dernière minute, et étaient toujours présents quand on avait besoin d’eux

Ich mochte es so abgelegen inmitten der Natur zu sein ...ein Lotusteich, ein nahegelegener Fluss, ein Pool - herrlich gemütlich. Beim Frühstück gab es genug Auswahl und auch das Dinner kommte man dazubestellen oder selbst vor Ort kochen. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und sprechen Englisch. Ich hab mich rundum wohl gefühlt. Wunderschön.

Vóór elke kamer een heerlijk terras uitkijkend op het zwembad en daarachter de rivier. Heel ontspannen sfeer. Ontbijt en diner zijn eenvoudig maar lekker. Het ligt wat achteraf, maar dat was voor ons geen probleem (we kwamen met eigen vervoer).

He will take good care of you and literally run to grab things for you. It's the best of both worlds of a hotel and a homestay.

Reviewed Aug 8, 2025Mon mari est tombé amoureux de l'endroit...il a adoré le chemin bucolique pour y arriver. Il a adoré la quiétude de l'endroit, l'architecture typique srilankaise ( on a presque la même photo dans le lonely Planet), le jardin est magnifiquement entretenu et la piscine est chaude et super. Le repas du soir était très bon. On avait le choix entre 4 déjeuners et c'est bien la première fois qu'on nous le demande. On a fait une partie de billard, on s'est promené le long de la jolie rivière attenante à ce magnifique domaine et on a assisté à.u' combat entre un varan et un grand serpent de l' autre côté du rivage. Il y avait beaucoup d'oiseaux. Le monsieur qui s'est occupé de nous était charmant, pardon de ne pas avoir retenu le prénom :=))
Le tout pour un prix hyper démocratique car il y avait une belle réduction.
Un grand merci pour cette étape magnifique d'une nuit.

What an incredibly beautiful place this is. When I arrived I could barely exit the taxi, as I was feeling incredibly sick. The chef supported me while I walked towards a chair. During our stay I needed to rest and stay in bed. Everyday the owner of the residence called to check up on me and offered me a dokter. It felt like he genuinely cared. So did the other staff members who were super attentive and made sure I didn’t lack anything. I can’t highlight it enough, the surroundings here are amazing. The perfect place to relax in the nature while being looked after by great staff.
Finally the WiFi signal wasn’t the best but who needs WiFi with those surroundings;)

What a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed in this peaceful, nature-filled retreat. The resort is beautifully located alongside a gently flowing river, surrounded by greenery, and our room overlooked a charming, refreshing little pool – a true slice of paradise.
What truly made our stay special was the staff. And especially Whadire – the shining star of Rivendell! His friendliness, courtesy, and genuine care are truly exceptional. Whether you have a question, need advice, or just want a chat, Whadire is always there with a warm smile. He absolutely deserves extra credit. What a gem!
We also booked a massage during our stay, and it was nothing short of fantastic. Deep relaxation, carried out with such care and professionalism – we felt completely renewed.
The rooms are simple yet cozy. There isn’t a mini fridge in the room, but there is a shared fridge available for all guests, which works just fine.
Two bottles of water would be fine.

Reviewed Apr 3, 2025Rivendell Twisted Tree provided the perfect quiet and beautiful place to integrate directly after an intense yoga retreat less than an hour from the guest house. The open shared lounge/dining room was extremely cosy and comforting just like being at home. The bed and pillows with fresh white linen were very comfortable. The home cooked Dahl was delicious and I really liked that I could help myself to endless cold water from the water station. The pool was dreamy, surrounded by lush lawn and close to the house with wide verandahs and large gazebo close by. I didn't realise when I booked that the whole setting was next to a peaceful river that's flow could be heard at it passed downstream over rocks in the river bed. The warm, friendly service I received from Vajira, Abbey, Sudharshani and Sila was very welcome and greatly appreciated. I would certainly return if I were to travel in that vicinity in the future.

Reviewed Mar 9, 2025A special place in the countryside. The staff are welcoming & helpful, a beautiful pool and lovely gardens. A retreat from a busy life. Dinner & breakfast we’re surprisingly delicious as we only booked a couple of hours before arrival.
We found it a bit difficult to locate but we did & it was worth getting lost👍
