Beautiful rooms and grounds, delicious breakfast and lovely host who was so helpful and attentive
The street is low-profile, which makes the place even more charming. A hidden gem. You could easily spend days in the indoor garden, surrounded by shade, water, and calmness. Everything feels carefully considered, from the styling to the placement. The breakfast changes from day to day, and the staff are always attentive and happy to help.
There is nothing to argue at, the place ranks high in taste and placement. Just maybe coffee, an investment in a real espresso machine would be a dream (but you can find it easily at coffee shops around)
Such a beautiful and peaceful stay! The staff was very friendly. We loved the breakfast! Excellent stay. Everything was very close to the outpost and it was easy to get to nearby restaurants. Playa Balandra was a 25 min drive.
My husband and I wake up very early everyday even on vacation. I would say let the guests make their own coffee since there’s a coffee maker outside of their window. It was hard to find coffee in town that opened before 7AM.
The rooms and property are decorated tastefully which makes for peaceful stay. Comfortable beds. I enjoyed relaxing in the back garden and having a dip in the pool. It is a short walk for the main areas. There are bicycles for hire which made getting to the closer beaches easier. If I’m ever in La Paz again I would stay here again for sure.
Very small issue if you were wanting to get out early for day trip etc is that breakfast is from 9am, though on my last day I did ask for breakfast at 8:45am as I had a bus to catch and this was not an issue.
Luisa’s property is within easy walking distance to most things and there is free on-road parking if needed. Communication was great and Luisa was always willing to assist with anything needed. The homemade breakfast was great.
For longer stays you might want more storage space and appliances in the room. For us it sorted our needed perfectly
Excellent breakfast. The host was lively, informative and very helpful.
Nothing to complain about. Great weekend get away!
Very good location, and lovely staff. There is a swimming pool and the room is very clean and overall a nice place to stay.
The photos looked better than in real life and expected a bit nicer for the price. But overall it was nice!
Stylé et ambiance du bed and breakfast!
Decent location on a quieter street. 10min walk to Malecon, although we drove around mostly. Chill set up in the yard with hammock and rooftop. Room was comfy and bathroom was clean. We were able to borrow free beach towels and cooler bag which made our trip to the beach more enjoyable.
The host is a VERY interesting old lady. She is welcoming but can be a bit controlling at times. I've never experienced this in any of my stays across the world, but here are two instances. Firstly, I'm supportive of no food waste, but having someone repeatedly ask you to let her know if you're not having breakfast is a bit excessive to my opinion. Secondly, her obsession over "water conservation" is a bit off the chart. I'm an environmentalist myself, and we saved water using buckets in the room when the shower is heating up. However, when we were using the shower in the yard, she couldn't help but watch us from afar. She checked in twice to say "don't let the water run like that" when we were waiting for the freezing water to heat up. She explained the region is extremely dry and don't get much rainfall (Yes, but it was also raining that day). She went on and said, "there's no hot water for the shower in the yard", hoping to deter us from using the shower longer. Funny enough, the water did heat up after a minute.
Modern, Good location, nice breakfast, nice patio area, nice staff.
Sound isolation is bad. Noisy when other guests are on the floor above you. You can hear every detail, them brushing their teeth, walking. Not very relaxing. Random dog poop over the garden. The staff cleans it but there is a lot when they are out. (Even on La Paz streets, the culture of picking up your dog’s poop has not reached yet)
The room was absolutely beautiful, every detail thought through. Also very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. Luisa (the owner) is super friendly and helped us with organizing our days. The location is also excellent- super central and close to everything. Thank you so much!
Nothing
I would not have changed one thing about this. Great location, amazing breakfast, exceptional host, quiet neighborhood, beautiful grounds, comfortable rooms, and the friendliest dogs in town. I highly recommend a stay here.
Nothing!
Muy comodo. Silencioso. Bien decorado y personal amabilisimo. La dueña es la mejor.
El desayuno buenisimo aunque no estaria mal que empezara antes pues la mayoria de actividades comienzan temprano en la isla y no da tiempo a tomarlo y da pena porque es rico. Pero todo genial.
Luisa, the host, is Super!!
Luisa is the perfect host. She has everything covered: rich and changing breakfast, a room full of equipment for a stay at the beach or a hike for your free use- we didn't have to get anything she had the umbrella, cooler, sunscreen, even chairs!! The perfect rooftop to do yoga or watch the sunset. overall best place we stayes at on a two week trip to Baja Sur
Was kind of expensive for what it was.
The outpost is a beautiful oasis in La Paz. It’s well-located near everything, yet also feels removed and quiet. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was highlight, as was the little corners to relax in, take some sun, perhaps doze off for a nap. It is a hidden gem.
Nothing, it was all perfect.
Modern and well decorated hotel, the room was small but clean. Luisa was a fantastic host, always happy to help and accommodate our needs, booked us a tour for instance. Tasty breakfast too, opportunity to chat with other guests in the common area, and nice staff!
Need to walk 10-15min to the city centre. Not a huge problem, but since we were with a baby, would prefer to be a bit more central. Also found it a bit expensive given the location and had to pay a daily fee for the cot. Other minor thing but breakfast could also be served earlier.
Location was perfect for exploring on foot to the town square and waterfront. Lots of great restaurants nearby and plenty to see and do in LaPaz. Don't miss the whale museum. Included breakfast was simple, coffee good, and enjoyable to meet fellow travelers over a meal. Definitely a great stay.
Pillows could be better.
The owner is always looking for improve the experience in La Paz. She helped me to celebrate a special occasion. The best place in La Paz
Tranquil, beautifully decorated
Breakfast was great - different foods each day, and it was nice to have a later time (9–11) vs. a lot of hotels that have super early breakfast only.

Breakfast service was excellent. Able to walk to main parts of town and the Malecon
Lovely small b&b in a great location - easy to walk to the Malecón and to find street parking. Luisa the host was wonderful and helped so much with planning excursions and with other local recommendations. It was so nice for me as a solo traveler because there was a chance to meet and chat with the other guests at breakfast every morning.
Great location, in short walking distance to everything you need in La Paz. Everyone at the B&B was so kind and helpful, offering suggestions for our time and even providing us with beach chairs and an umbrella to use for the day. Loved our stay!
The rooms are beautiful and also very comfortable. The breakfast is very good, and the way the breakfast is set up it's very easy to meet new people if you like, and share experiences/tips. It is a few minutes walk from the boulevard and close to nice places to have lunch or dinner. We would definitely recommend the Mantarraya Outpost!
The bathroom is seperated from the main room with a curtain, would've preferred at least a door to seperate the toilet.
Beautiful and peaceful bed and breakfast. Decorate with a lot of taste and charm.
Beautifully decorated rooms and whole house. Really helpful and friendly host, just wonderful!
Installations were brand new. The hotel is simple but really comfortable. I saw some comments complaining about the curtains on the door but it didn’t bother us. Breakfast is delicious.
Breakfast could be served earlier. Other than that everything was awesome.
The interior Design is very carefully chosen and the owner is very nice, helpful and welcoming. Makes you feel like home immediately.
Great location Friendly staff
No tv No door to bathroom
Breakfast was terrific and the location the best walking to great restaurants and the famous Malecón .. Luisa and the cook and staff are wonderful too
Very clean and comfortable, Louisa was a great friendly host full of local knowledge and advice. Breakfast was traditional Mexican meals and were delicious and very generously sized. She had cooler boxes and beach umbrellas to borrow for a day at the beach. Walking distance to town centre for a night out, full of restaurants and dancing!!
Nothing
Beautiful property in a perfect location. Super close to all the buzz and life of La Paz, while being a quiet oasis to relax at the end of the day. Luisa is a very helpful and welcoming host. The breakfast is delicious. Although sadly we missed a few being early risers (breakfast is from 9). Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to explore La Paz.
We didn’t mind, but a curtain instead of a door to the en-suite may not be for everyone!
Beautiful place & a wonderful helpful host who will ensure your stay in La Paz is perfect. I'll be back !
The Outpost is a modem, peaceful retreat. Luisa is a friendly and helpful owner/host. She was able to book a boat tour for us the next day. The staff is professional and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean. It is located in a safe neighborhood near the waterfront.
Nothing.
Great location. Beautiful room. Great host.

Luisa is like a fairy godmother who has created a sanctuary in La Paz. Beautifully designed, the rooftop terrace will be amazing once built. Lovely conversation, incredible breakfast (accommodating of food intolerances), thoughtful details like beach supplies (chairs, umbrella) and the best recommendations. Highly recommend staying here.
The owner Luisa is a spectacular lady. The rooms are lovely and the outdoor space is beautiful. Luisa has beach chairs/umbrellas/towels free of charge. Breakfast was wonderful every day. Very safe and clean and close to great food. Can’t wait to visit again.
This property is a 10 out of 10. There isn’t a single problem with it. Stayed 3 nights and my wife and I loved it.
This is a place that has been created with every detail thought out and planned. Beautiful rooms, and a gorgeous outdoor area for relaxing. Cozy blankets are available when sitting outside and for when the sun goes down. Amazing breakfast every morning! Luisa is so knowledgeable about the area and she’ll assist in planning trips and offering advice. This is an absolute gem of a place and I can’t wait to return.
There is nothing to dislike! It’s perfect.
Luisa is a wonderful host - the breakfast is amazing and the additional extras she provided you with like beach towels, chairs, umbrella were super helpful and much appreciated!
The facilities were very nice but to be honest the price per room was a little too high in my opinion. It could've been that we were there around the holidays but I would still recommend her spot!
We had a great stay at the Mantarraya outpost. Beautiful place and super helpful host with great recommendations.
Warm and cozy, making one feel at home and welcome.
the rooms could be better equipped with furniture and accessories such as hooks, shelves, etc.
Great location, very quiet, safe, and close to everything. Nice breakfasts and everyone is friendly. It's very calm and well decorated. They gave umbrellas to take to the beach. There are lounge chairs in the outdoor space are comfy. Wifi works good. Overall a really nice experience.
The only downsides I can think of were that the bathroom is open in the room and there aren't screens on the windows . No big deal though.
Peaceful, great design, good location and wonderful host
Small hotel very practical, friendly personal. All you need for a nice stay in la Paz
Very clean and the owner Luisa was super sweet!
No issues.
Simple rustic design bed and breakfast. Luis Fernanda did well taking care of us, kudos to her, especially given the full house she had during the Hurricane Norma, it sure wasn’t easy!
We had an amazing stay at the Mantarraya Outpost!! Such a gem of a spot in a great location in the city - we had a car, but you are walking distance to everything and only an 8-minute walk from the Malecon. Beautifully designed and maintained, and all of the staff are wonderful. Luisa is so warm, welcoming and helpful with her recommendations. The beach kit she gave us was perfect for our beach excursions, and she booked us a tour to Espiritu Island to swim with the sea lions, which was a very cool experience. Lastly, the breakfast was the best we have had in the Baja! We couldn’t have had a better stay - thanks again!
The Montarraya Outpost was perfect for us. Good location, very nice breakfast and great staff made this an enjoyable stay., The owner Luisa was delightful and charming. The staff Alma and Coco were so nice and accommodated our every need. Our stay could not have been better. We would highly recommend this property and we will stay there again. Thank you Luisa.
Nothing. No complaints or recommendations.
Beautiful property, ideally located in town close to the seafront and downtown whilst also being very quiet. Luisa was a wonderful hostess and made sure we had everything we needed and was comfortable. She even went above and beyond helping us with a car rental issue and took the time to assist us with the problem when the car rental company were being useless! So grateful to her and lovely staff too. Would 100% recommend staying here in La Paz - we wish we could have stayed longer!
Nothing!
Totally in love with mantarraya. The warmest team, the best breakfasts and the best rooms in town. If you want to stay in aesthetically pleasing place with the sweetest people then you found your spot. And if you’re unsure on what to do in Baja, Luisa got you covered- she is the sweetest person who will help you in any way she can.
Everything was perfect
Luisa is amazing, she arranged the tours for us, taxis etc...breakfast was delicious. The place is quite and nicely designed..the small pool was wonderful. Location is 7 min walk from malecon.
The drinking water had funny taste..
We loved our stay here. Luisa the owner has done an amazing job creating a beautiful, tasteful and comfortable residence. She is very hospitable and helpful with recommendations and helped us book a tour to Esprito Santo island. I felt I was visiting a distant aunt. Our room was very comfortable and clean. There is a beautiful common area to hang out if you are not out and about. The breakfast was great and we looked forward to it everyday. We got served a bit of granola, yogurt and local fruits first followed by a warm Mexican breakfast that varied every day.
Luisa was the most amazing host and helped us book the best tours. The place is so calm and beautiful. Location is perfect

The location is great, walking distance to the Malecon, a short drive away from some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. They have beach chairs and umbrellas available for your use. Breakfast is fantastic and the garden area is relaxing. I was so glad we could bring our little dog with us too.
Luisa is an exceptional host, our stay was great, daily home made breakfast and also she can provide you with everything you need at the beach (Chairs, Shade, Towels, cooler) at no extra charge. and everything is so eco friendly

The host and owner Luisa was warm and welcoming, such a sweet and gracious person and had great recommendations. The location was perfect, on a quiet street but still close enough to walk to the promenade and the main downtown area. Loved the design of the place, well curated and beautiful. Home cooked breakfast in the morning, family style. Had a wonderful stay. We were well taken care of.
The location was great. The property was well-designed and made the small space seem open and airy. It was very quiet for an inner-city location. Louisa and her pups were delightful!
It would have been nice to have off-street parking. An earlier breakfast time would have suited our plans better.
Beautiful and quaint property, clean and well designed. feels luxurious. Amazing beds and linens. Luisa Fernanda received us well and set us up with a great tour of the islands with almost no notice. The breakfast was great and her two dogs are the absolute sweetest! We were able to park on the street in front without any problems. I really wish we could stay longer! I will definitely come back next visit to La Paz.
facilities are great, the host was amazing and super helpful.
different style very unique
no pool
Luisa is the most accommodating host! She has also decorated the place beautifully and it is a real oasis!
Literally nothing
Luisa the host is amazing and incredibly helpful and just a great person to get to know. She will make you feel at home and the new accommodations are stylish and comfortable and the breakfast is amazing! Best chilaquilas I have ever had!
There is nothing to dislike
The place is quaint and beautiful! Very relaxing to just hang in the yard and dip your feet in the pool. Owner is so nice and welcoming. She greets you kindly and explains all the cute little perks of the hotel, like the yummy breakfast and the beach stuff she offers guests to use when they adventure! Walking distance to all the great places! Easy to park! Feels safe and secure.
