Reviewed Aug 8, 2026Location! Perfect to experience peace & quiet, and explore hidden gems of Ireland. Basic but everything you need is well equipped. The weather was good during my stay so that the outside staircase was no issue. My dog enjoyed the old railway trails passing just outside the property. The owner and his neighbours were extremely kind and helpful when I had troubles with my car.
Nothin to complain but as a dog owner, I wished to have a vacuum cleaner to catch dog hair shedding.

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026I loved staying at Keadue with my dog. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. It is quiet, with the Burtonport old railway walks practically passing the door. Easy to reach other areas of the Ross area of Donegal. The host took the trouble to check that I had found everything to my satisfaction, and was very responsive if I had any questions. I understand new doors and windows are being fitted and a new hob (some people had commented on that). Yes the staircase is outside, and I was lucky that it was mostly dry when I stayed. But this place is incredibly good value for money - I have stayed in more expensive self-catering which have been much less comfortable and less well equipped.

Excellent location and great price.
The wifi was good. The living room had a great size TV and comfy furniture. The kitchen area was small but functional.
It was good to have an outdoors bistro set to enjoy the glorious sunsets.
The bedroom was lovely. The bed was a good size and comfy, even if difficult to get in/out of for the person next to the wall.
The bathroom and bedroom access is from the outside of the property. We arrived in the middle of a snow storm and the decking was incredibly slippery, so going to the loo was a bit of health hazard in the bad weather.
The heaters were complicated to figure out without instructions.
The cooking plate had lost all markings to harsh cleaning so it took a lot of guess work, trial-and-error to get cooking.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2025Location was really great, close to lots of nice walks & lovely beaches nearby. Check-in was very straightforward, house was lovely. We didn't use the microwave etc. so can't comment on that but the shower was good & the heating also worked well.

Reviewed Jul 24, 2025It was great value and dog friendly
The driveway is poorly segregated from the overgrown garden and in particular the small rocks at the border were covered and not visible such that, when I performed a difficult three point turn, I scuffed the bumper of my car. In fairness the landlord advised that we should not drive all the way to the apartment but rather park at the gable end of the main house - except I only read this after the damage was done as it was sent when we were in transit.
We gathered from previous reviews and from the photographs/lists that there was no microwave so we brought our own, only to find that there was one there already.
Visitors are requested to only turn on the hot water an hour before it's needed. This is very problematic as the switch is downstairs and would require one to venture outdoors in the morning an hour before having a shower!

Reviewed Jul 14, 2025Weather was very good during my stay and that helped a lot. Cottage situated on an out-of-the-way country narrow narrow road more like a lane to me also used by walkers using this Old Railway Walk to Burtonport (watch for the signs and wooden poles). Location is pleasant and quiet. Great walks around.
Access to the upper floor of cottage (bedroom and bathroom) is by an OUTSIDE staircase using a different key which is a bit of a nuisance. Cottage overall somewhat musty. Needs ventilation.
It's in a great location, very peaceful and quiet. The cottage would suit hikers and walkers but it's not that big and could do with a bit of modernisation...but it was good value.
The hot water heater is rather fierce, I suggest that it needs adjustment... Beyond that, it is fine as a base and somewhat to sleep etc

Not too far from town.

Nothing, the house and location have everything.
The cottage is a small property off to the side of the main house. It was beautifully decorated and cozy. The property had everything you’d need for a short stay and was very clean. We had a great comfortable stay and would recommend for a couple.
I didn’t notice immediately just outside the cottage there was a camera, I know it’s for security purposes but maybe just a little sign to notify people they are being recorded. We have a similar one at our own home and it comes with a security sticker.
Lovely location if you want something peaceful and out of the way, beautiful walks in the surrounding area. 5 min drive to burtonport village which has a shop and restaurant and the ferry to arran island and about 10 min drive to dungloe which is abit more lively. The accomdation is very basic with all the essentials you need and was spotless.
Only real issue I had was the likes of pizza etc which I had bought to cook did not fit in the oven as it is a small portable oven/grill but is a minor issue. overall iv not complaints

Nothing to dislike. Perfect stay for us.

Reviewed May 23, 2024Location was great, close to lots of walking trails and beaches. Size of the accommodation was perfect for the two of us. Wifi and TVs worked well. Radiators were perfect for heating up the rooms. Kitchen well equipped.
Hot water heater only heated up enough hot water for a 3 or 4 minute shower tops no matter how long you left it on. Kitchen could have done with a more thorough clean. Lots of flies outside because of location being surrounded by trees. The accommodation is beside another house which was not clear from listing, however the house is not currently lived in so accommodation was still private.
Great location, close to lots of great beaches and the town.
Stairs to the bedroom/bathroom outside but not a huge inconvenience, just a bit wet when it’s raining.

Within a short driving distance there are beautiful beaches.
Lovely walk on the old train rail way.
I’m struggling to find something that I liked about this property other than it has the potential to be a really nice cottage to stay in
The drive into the cottage was down a narrow road and entrance is not at all lit up. We arrived in early evening and there was no sign indicating the cottage was there other than eircode. A derelict house greets you on arrival with cottage behind this. The driveway was not kept well, debris around the ground. The cottage was damp and smelled badly. The electric storage heating was turned on when we arrived however windows were left open. I imagine this cottage had not been used for quite a while. The heaters only barely managed to take the damp cold out of the air. My partner and I had to sleep fully clothe it was so cold. The bathroom was dirty and grubby, old musty towels left out. Bed linen wasn’t much better. This cottage has the potential to be so quaint and beautiful in the right hands, sadly it’s not a place I would ever recommend to anyone

Reviewed Aug 22, 2023Very reasonably priced. Accommodation was clean, very comfortable, good location not far from beaches and town but was quiet and peaceful. All the facilities were great. Communication was excellent and non intrusive from the owner. Lovely touch with a bottle of wine awaiting our arrival, very much appreciated. The accommodation is fresh from renovation and is completed to a high standard.
I would have liked better weather but that's Ireland!! Would have loved to have stayed longer.
