A wonderful mountain house tucked away in the nature-rich surroundings of Sigiriya. The meals prepared by the host’s beautiful wife were exceptionally delicious, and the hospitality was outstanding. I am truly grateful to her for introducing me to so many of Sri Lanka's wonderful flavors. Despite having a cute princess to care for, she dedicated so much time to cooking for me, and I cannot thank her enough. I highly recommend her cooking(lunch/dinner) to anyone planning to stay here; it offers a fantastic local culinary experience that brings out the delicious, fresh flavors of the vegetables—a taste you simply won't find anywhere else.
A wonderful place in the heart of the forest, peaceful and quiet, where the only sounds you hear are the birds and squirrels. As for the lady who runs the guesthouse, she is always smiling and prepares a delicious breakfast every morning. The wooden room is built on a spacious platform and overlooks the garden.
Ionly wish they would replace the ceiling fans with regular fans placed near the beds, because the room can get quite hot and the ceiling absorbs a lot of heat from the sun. I also wish they would put curtains on the windows, as sunlight comes directly into the room in the morning. The Wi-Fi connection is also very weak and sometimes cuts out. Most importantly, I hope they reconsider their food prices, because paying 2,500 rupees for a simple plate of rice is simply unreasonable.
Chandi’s food is delicious, and she’s just kind and very welcoming in general 🫶🏻♥️
The best hostel I’ve stayed in srilanka. Kosth was very helpful and kind. I had a great time and would highly recommend this place if you’d like a chill and laid back vibe
A fantastic overall experience thanks to the woderfull family who owns the property in a jungle área but close to all services. Safary, scooter tours, lake swimming, Ayurveda massage and plants treatments, hidden rock climbing and one of the nicest food tried in Sri Lanka.
Nothing to comment.
Very helpful and nice family they help you with all the transport and offer tours with them. Good breakfast and also they can cook for you dinner.
The room was a bit dusty and with a lot of spiderwebs. Overall good but the room can be less dusty.
Clean Close to the nature
a little distance between the tree house and the toilet
Friendly and helpful owner. He drives tuk tuk and could show me interesting places.
Expensive beer. Breakfast was not very delicious.
wonderful place and wonderful people!
Nice place in the jungle
The owner, his wife, and his friends are wonderful. I highly recommend meeting them. I felt there like home.
I had a great stay at this Hostel, booked a Safari Tour with them (which went great) and really enjoyed staying in the midst of the jungle with them. Just keep in mind that it really is the jungle, so expect to use the provided mosquito net!
There’s no better place to stay in Sigiriya than this. If I ever come back to Sigiriya, I will definitely stay here again. The dormitory is located on the second floor of a treehouse—it’s a very photogenic building. If you’re coming all the way to Sigiriya, I highly recommend staying in a place surrounded by nature like this rather than in a luxury hotel that feels just like the city. Facilities: The dormitory is a 5-bed room. The beds are sturdy wooden ones—not bunk beds—and everything is very clean. Although there’s no air conditioning since it’s in the forest, the fan is more than enough to keep cool, even during the hot season in July. Mosquito nets are provided, so you can sleep without worrying about bugs. There’s a power outlet next to each bed, as well as lockers. The toilet and shower room are also clean. The shower doesn’t have hot water, but since it’s hot outside, cold water is just fine—and there’s decent water pressure. No issues with drainage either. There’s a place to hang your laundry, and while the Wi-Fi is slow, it works reliably. Surroundings: Within a 5-minute walk, you’ll find a small shop, bakery, restaurant, bus stop, and a tour agency. Sigiriya Rock is about a 20-minute walk away.
Power outages are quite common in Sigiriya, and unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done about it. During these outages, all internet services also become unavailable. Sigiriya also has a large number of stray dogs, and the incidence of rabies is relatively high. When walking around Sigiriya, it is recommended to carry a wooden stick for self-protection.
Very friendly host
The atmosphere of the hostel overall was super nice and very accommodating. The tent is immersed in nature and everything feels secure, even if you're in the middle of the jungle 🙂 Beautiful bird song and very friendly hosts. The hotel is very easy to access via tuk tuk and highly recommend hiring the scooter to get around and enjoy the sights of Sigiriya
Army of sand and light thrives, effigy of speechless solitude And her gaze that holds it all follows you up to your tent Damp light veils the room, fire dyes the blond to brown trunks are joining to the sounds that were sung by the man in the poppy field Fair you are, for all your life Keturah to the Abraham Fair you are, for all your life Keturah to the Abraham And your king does have you guided you already know to where when 2000 elephants are passing through your circle of blood
Very good location and the three house is very nice. Chill garden to hang out and the breakfast was amazing. We rented the scooter of the owner for two days which gave us the chance to explore Sigirya. One day the owner showed us around, which was truly amazing!
The bathroom is down, so not in the threehouse, this wasn’t an issue for me, as the showers and toilet were very clean
Friendly host, gives good recommendations about what to do in the area. Also, he knows a lot of beautiful places like a hidden waterfall and historic temple in the jungle
Really cool place in the jungle nice staff and good facilities
Bit out of the way, can’t walk in the dark so need scooter or Tuk
Everything
There was nothing to not like
Amazing place in the jungle. Absolutely amazing! ❤️
The nature vibes and chill friendly staff made for a peaceful stay
This place is in desperate need of a more cozy hang out area. Some cushions and low tables, comfy chairs, etc. There really wasn't a great place to relax sadly. Hammocks were very mediocre. Much love to this family, but the place has some wonderful room for improvement
Nice stay owner is really nice and helpful took us to lake and sunset perfect place to visit
Five start place to stay
Very chill place in middle of the forrest.
Kosta was very friendly and helpful, showed us cool place to watch sunset and had buch of ideas for trips around. It is modest place but for a cheap price
It was amazing stay in have booked only for one night then end up staying two nights owner is so helpful really appreciate of everything i will definitely come back again
the remote place
The violent behavior of the the wife. I really thought a long time before writing this Review but the behavior was unacceptable and absoluty a no go (read the comment below). They put a lot of effort into this place and trying to create a beautiful hostel. But they need to fix their relationship in order not to affect the well being of the guests. Sorry Kosta but I cant forget the incident
Location was more secluded, so it almost felt like camping in nature.
The beds in the room were damp and wet towels/clothes didn't fully dry. The last night I stayed here the wife of the owner stormed into the room and woke us all up and was verbally and physically violent with another female guest. The owner afterwards tried to cancel my booking to prevent me from writing this review. Needless to say, I didn't feel safe the last night and morning of my stay.
All doesn’t matter compared to what happened
NOT A SAFE PLACE TO STAY!!! I am in my 30ies and slept in many hostels all over the world, but never had a as horrible experience as this one. At the moment there is only one dorm and it was four of us woman (all solo-traveling). The wife came in at night and screamed at us to get up and slapped one girl and threatened to kill her. Apparently that girl was out all night with the husband (the owner) doing dr**s. And she thought they also had s*x (they didn’t). That is the story I was told next morning, but to me it also doesn’t matter what happened exactly, fact is it is unacceptable to storm into a dorm in the middle of the night and scream at all of us making each single one to get up, slapping at one woman and threatening her in the middle of the jungle with wild elephants to kick her out and even kill her. I am not exaggerating and I have a very short video I took where you can hear her slam the door (unfortunately I cannot post it here, have a look at Google where I posted it). I feel sorry because I don’t want to ruin anyone’s business, but as long as the owner doesn’t take responsibility, this is not a safe place to stay at. He also cancelled all our reservations on Booking so we could not write a bad review there or warn somebody else not to go.
The couple that hosted us were incredibly attentive, kind and generous. Great stay at an authentic hostel surrounded by nature.
Costa was one of the best hosts ever! A rustic tucked away little space in Sigiriya. Costa took us to some amazing hidden spots and helped us through booking a scooty and getting everything sorted. Loved our stay here. Super cheap laundry too!
Loved the nature and being away from traffic. The host was very helpful and was always looking out for people. The food was good and fruit juices were amazing!

Great place to enjoy the cultural and beautiful area. The hostel is mew amd really clean. Wooden beds with good materials, quiet place with kitchen and chill vibes to be in touch with the nature. The lwner is really helpful in everything you need and he has bikes to rent.
A lot of mosquitos outside, but this is the price to pay for stay so close the nature
No idea why this place has such a high rating. It's not warranted! No working WiFi Frogs in the bathroom Linen and entire place dirty Host charges more than specified in booking Host tries to hard sell safari and makes kickbacks from it
Everything including location
The staff is really nice and I just love their gesture of treating the people. I recommend everyone to travel here and you will just love the nature around. Thank you it was like meeting a family
Just lovely! The owner of the hostel is absolutely amazing. He is so kind and he is always offering some help if you need it. I had a great time here. Thank you so much
Price is low
Location is in the middle of the forest, you don't get any food nearby. Wild elephants near the hostel.
The host Kostha is a great guy. He is super friendly and is always proposing plans and helping with what to do around the area. He also offers to rent one of his scooters or even takes you to different places. He usually cooks dinner and shares it with the guests. Having hosts like him makes the experience of staying in the place much better.
Not the fanciest place and a little bit away from the center, but you can manage with the scooter.
Hospitality...going out of their way to keep us excited.
Really loved the vibe, the hostel itself is among the trees and they are even building a tree house, you have hammocks to chill and the common space is really cozy
I really liked everything
Kostha and Isuru are incredibly good hosts. They showed me around the neighbourhood as soon as I arrived. After swimming in the lake, they took us to a secret viewpoint from where you could see Lion Rock and Pisurangala. The next day they got up extra early to show us the sunrise, which was extremely worthwhile. After that, they showed us the whole day and I saw places that I would never have seen otherwise. It was a great stay that I will never forget!
This hostel have a really good vibes. I really enjoy be here. Khosta, the manager reccomend me a lot of places to visit and he give a lot of information about the places, also they give me coffee and we spend the time with good music and talks. Thank you Khosta and Isuru for the best secret hiking places!!!
The location was great, relaxed vibes right next to the jungle. The host goes above and beyond to provide an all around great experience to his guests. He organised activities and joined us for a safari, sunsets and the sunrise from Piturangala. We would definitely come back. Thanks Kostha!
Wow this place ! Where can i start! One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. The owner Costa is so nice and so inviting !! We all became one family and I will remember this place forever ! The place is super clean the lounge area is very big.
Nothingggg
The vibe of the hostel was really cool, comfy beds and clean bathroom! We had the place to ourselves and Kostha was an amazing host - we played games and he offered to show us around Sigiriya on his bike 😊😊 Would recommend, especially for the price!!
Very nice and peaceful place. Kosta has a big garden and the hostel is in the forest. Notice that you cant go outsode at night by foot because of the dangerous wild elephant. But Kosta wants to bring you everywhere on the bike, also in daytime which is great. Or you can ask a tuktukdriver. The hostel isn't too big so it has a good vibe. Nice breakfast!
Amazing breakfast! Kostha is a great host and is super nice. He will take you where you need to go or recommend the place. Great location just a bit away from main streets but in jungle and the sounds of thr birds when you wake up are beautiful.
The remote setting was great, but still close enough to do things like Sigiriya, also the host are amazing!!! Took us to a nearby lake to swim where you could see both the mountains.... Incredible!!!!
The garden is great with the hangmatte, but it’s not really finished yet. The stuff was friendly and helped in every situation.
I didn’t felt safe for my stuff in that place. There no lockers. They tried also to charged me 400 rs that I used the gas stove in the kitchen, but booking says, that the kitchen is included. At the end, it was fine, that I didn’t payed that but yes … The breakfast was just toastbread with some jam and a little bit of papaya. It’s okay but not a really nice breakfast.
I had such a good stay at Rastha Place, it’s small with only 4 beds but has a nice little place to hangout and socialise. Kostha was such an amazing owner, he cooked breakfast each morning and took me out on his scooter to see Sigirya which was very kind of him. Thanks so much Kostha !!!
Not good if you are looking to meet a lot of other travellers as it’s super small but I still found it very social and a good place to chill
I had the best stay in this hostel. 🫶Kostha is really fun, kind and helpful. 😉 Also his family is very nice. You can rent a bike, use nice kitchen, chill outside and much more. Thank you for everything! 🥹🙏❤️
All good!
The owner is friendly
I find the high score unfounded. The owner is nice but quite unprepared, very limited English, seems elsewhere. It is a basic hostel, do not expect comfort, but it is ok for backpacking. A small capacity of 4 beds, so come with friends or you will get lonely. I rented a bicycle, it broke down on the way, had to walk 50 min back under the hot sun.
Costa was a great host. Quiet and small hostel
Small & quiet place surrounded by nature. Costha ist very friendly!
A bit far away from the main things to visit. The place also just has 4 beds so don’t expect a big social hostel :)
10 out of 10 Kosthas is the best host ever . I have been traveling for long time and I never met such a good host ! Always eager to help you ! Definitely I recommend this place
Absolutely nothing
Nice and quite place. Owners were really friendly and good was good!!
I had the best time ever at Kostha’s place. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Kostha is very helpful and friendly, a fun person to spend time with also. Breakfast was very good
A beautiful peaceful location with two wonderful caring hosts!
The hosts were super nice and helped with everything. Nice chill area and the food was fantastic.
A little bit outta the way but adds to the adventure.
The owners!! Kostha and Shanika were the best hosts ever!! Kostha was so helpful and thanks to him I have been inmerse in the culture and visited new places out of the touristic places. Shanika is an excellent cook and took care when I needed. The place is located in a very nice green area. Kitchen, room and bathroom really clean. I had a lot fun as well. I will never forget my stay there.
Everything good. Maybe just the place is a bit further from the city, but for me it wasn't a problem
Very helpfully staff. Will help you with anything you need. Room was very good value for money. We went to a lake one afternoon which they took us to on their motorbikes.
Kostha was really nice and helped me a lot from the very beginning. He toured me around and really helped me a lot when I lost my camera. They also served very nice food especially for dinner. Kostha built everything on his own, he's so hardworking and really kind. If you need a chill place to stay this is the perfect place.
Hoping for a locker in the future 😄
