Udawalawe Safari House

The room was good, plenty of space with nice people running the homestay. It was in a decent area.

I understand hot water can always be an issue in some areas, but hot water was advertised and it was not hot, and the shower was not easy to operate.

Very friendly and helpful owners. The bungalow is well designed and has A/C and mosquito nets. Furthermore, the pillows and mattrasses were very comfortable. The location is quiet and in walking distance to the supermarket and eateries. The kids loved the pool. Good value for your money.

Some hangers or hooks would have been great and a refrigerator would have been a bonus but it can be done without both of them.

Had a relaxing time with the combination of good food, nice view,comfy bedding, Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature in comfort. already done 2 to 3 safaris so i denied their safari service which was budget compared to i had before.

El que ens va passar és que, quan vam arribar el propietari ens va dir que la nostra habitació no estava disponible perquè hi havia l’aigua espatllada, llavors ens vam quedar a la de davant (era del seu germà). El noi era molt amable, ens va explicar que ell feia safari, que el podiem fer amb ell, etc. De moment tot anava perfecte. Quan li vam comunicar que no voliem fer el safari (ja n’haviem fet un) la cosa va canviar, no el vam tornar a veure i no responia els whatsapps (no sabiem el wifi, on esmorzavem, etc). Ens vam sentir una mica “desemparats”, es va despreocupar.

Super kind hosts, they even helped us with a private safari in a udawalawa national park. Delicious local breakfast and dinner. The place is very peaceful.

We absolutely LOVED our stay udawalawe safari house! After changing our plans and coming to Udawalawe a night earlier than planned (and in need of some luxury), this place was exactly what we needed. The hosts were so friendly, the buffet dinner was delicious and great value and the swimming pool was amazing. They organise safari for us with easy and served breakfast on return. The rooms were well sized and comfy. Would 100% Recommend!

I am very happy with my choice of this hotel. It is located just a 5-minute jeep ride from the national park, yet far enough from the main road to ensure complete peace and quiet. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful garden, where peacocks, squirrels, lizards, and other wildlife freely roam. It was wonderful to be immersed in the sounds of nature, making it feel like an extension of the safari experience. The rooms, especially those on the first floor, are spacious and very comfortable. The food was good, with both à la carte and buffet options available. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the pool was well-maintained.

This is the most incredible family run hotel, I cannot praise it enough. Located just down the road from the National Park so it's the most perfect resting spot either before or after a Safari. You cannot really describe the tranquility and peaceful ambiance of this hotel, it is incredible! The rooms are immaculately clean, really comfortable and well presented. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and were so kind and friendly to both us and our children. The hotel has a fantastic pool which is the perfect place to cool off in the afternoon. The food is some of the best that we have tasted whilst travelling Sri Lanka, completely delicious and freshly cooked dinner and breakfast. The value for money is excellent and you get the feel of high end at a really reasonable price. I'd say that this hotel is a must stay whilst visiting this area. We plan to return on our next trip. It wasn’t the most social event for a solo traveller but that is to be expected and not the fault of the owners.

Nice and clean swimmingpool, location perfect for Safari. Room was OK for that price. Big comfortabel bed with klamboo. Friendly host who arranges safari.

Only thing: NO AC in our room, only fan. Very hot at night. Bathroom hot water was difficult to manage.

At 6$ a night it is hard to complain. For that price the available pool is incredible and the rooms are fine. Includes a quite OK breakfast!

Do not expect a fancy clean apartment complex. Cabins are accessible via a narrow messy path and pool/cabin environment is also messy. There was a family party and 6 guys jumped into the pool 5 metres from our cabin at 1u30 AM!

The place was just better than we expected for this price. Large very comfortable rooms. And the food served at the place (dinner and breakfast) was carefully prepared and delicious.

The staff very organised and professional. The driver turned up on time and as planned and they accommodated my request to change the drop off location. We come back to udawalawe Safari camp as often as we can and we are never disappointed.rooms and other facilities were best. The atmosphere is so serene, the tents are comfortable and exceptionally clean and the food is delicious! Add park safaris to the mix and you have the perfect getaway! Highly recommended.

The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to assist with anything we needed. It's definitely a adventure place and they made sure evry step we take in the jungle.

Very good hotel, 10 minutes taxi from the main city. The rooms are very large and well equipped, the beds comfortable. The breakfast is hearty and very good, and the beautiful pool adds charm to the overall experience. Big plus : staff always smiling and caring. Thank you again!
