Das Homestay befindet sich in einer herrlichen, sehr ruhigen Lage etwas außerhalb des hektischen Treibens von Ella. Eins der Zimmer war groß und sehr sauber mit einem schönen Balkon unter Palmen, auf dem uns das Frühstück und Abendessen serviert wurde. Die Besitzer wohnen im Erdgeschoss und waren immer gut erreichbar und hilfsbereit. Besonders auch zur Bestellung der TukTuks, da die App PickMe für die Lage scheinbar nicht funktioniert.

Das kleinere der beiden reservierten Zimmer hatte leider keinen Gartenblick wie angekündigt. Wir konnten jedoch gegen Aufpreis in das moderne Nachbargebäude Liora Cottage umziehen, wo von der Familie auch zwei sehr schöne große Zimmer mit Balkon vermietet werden. Etwas schwieriger Zugang am Hang. Der Gastgeber hilft aber gerne beim Koffer tragen.

Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig, sauber und modern und mit schöner Holzoptik eingerichtet. Klimaanlage und Kühlschrank funktionieren einwandfrei. Frühstück wird auf der kleinen Terrasse serviert, es war sehr lecker! Die Unterkunft ist 15 min zu Fuß vom Zentrum erreichbar, wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt! Die Besitzer:innen waren äußerst freundlich - wir durften Frühstückszeit wählen, haben uns Loundry Service angeboten und waren stets schnell erreichbar.

Ein Schrank oder eine Ablage mehr für die Kleidung wäre noch schön gewesen.

A lovely, spacious room with equally lovely hosts! The breakfast was INCREDIBLE every day eaten on the private porch overlooking palm trees and the mountains! They even do laundry. We walked to town multiple times and our favorite place to eat (Aura cafe) was in between! No shack here but a beautiful mountain escape!

Lage etwas abseits, schwer ein Tuktuk zu bekommen ohne vorher in die Stadt zu laufen, Gastgeber sind nicht besonders freundlich und sprechen so gut wie kein Englisch, Frühstück eher mäßig

Mit die schönste und sauberste Unterkunft unserer Sri Lanka Zeit. Das Zimmer war sehr ordentlich und schön eingerichtet, es war alles da, was man braucht. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und reichlich und die Besitzer sehr freundlich, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir durften uns auch für kleines Geld den Roller des Besitzers für einen Tagesausflug leihen und er hat ein TukTuk zum Bahnhof für uns organisiert. Die Unterkunft liegt etwas abseits, es empfiehlt sich ein Roller, um in die Stadt zu kommen, aber an sich kein Problem.

Einziges (aber kleines) Problem: das Internet ist nicht sehr gut. Für normale Aktionen kein Problem, nur falls man arbeiten muss, telefonieren oder Bilder verschicken will könnte das schwierig sein. Sonst aber überhaupt nicht schlimm, würde trotzdem uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Ubytování bylo dál od centra, což nám nevadilo. Pár nám zavolal známého, který nás vždy odvezl tuktukem. Pokoj byl čistý, měl vše, co jsme potřebovali. Snídani nám dělala hostitelka a byla výborná, domluvili jsme se na čase přípravy a chystali nám ji před pokojem v zahradě. Byli velmi milí, vstřícní. Vše bylo úžasné. Děkujeme!!

A cozy room with a balcony that offers a relaxing environment surrounded by greenery. The hosts are welcoming and the cooking is excellent.

Be aware that the access to the property is steep, but we make it up with a small regular car.

Hote super gentil, le logement est super, petit déjeuné au top, frigo mis a disposition, je recommande grandement au gens qui souhaite passer quelques jours a Ella certes peu loin du centre ville mais en tuk tuk pour 500 roupie sinon vous marcher 20/25 min. Vraiment super !!!

Sehr ruhig gelegene Unterkunft im Grünen. Gerade da wir Ella als recht voll und laut empfanden war es schön etwas abseits des Trubels zu wohnen. Leckeres frühstück und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Uns wurde sogar morgens um 4 ein Lunchpaket gepackt.

Der Weg in die Stadt ist etwas weiter - wenn man damit kein Problem hat ist die Unterkunft aber schön ruhig gelegen.

Hatten das Deluxe Doppelzimmer mit Balkon. Man schaut direkt auf Palmen und Bananenbäume. Frühstück gab es immer auf dem Balkon, dieses war sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich. Das Zimmer ist sehr schön eingerichtet und sehr neu. Zu Fuß läuft man ca. 15 min in die Stadt, zur Nine Arche Bridge ist es sehr nah. Von der Unterkunft kann man ganz einfach zu Fuß gehen. Der Inhaber und seine Frau sind super Gastgeber! Sie haben alles organisiert was man sich vorstellen kann. Das Tuk Tuk früh morgens zum Little adams Peak und ein Roller für einen Tag. Der Roller wurde zur Unterkunft gebracht und aufgrund der aktuellen Tankproblematik, füllte der Gastgeber von seinem eigenen Motorrad Benzin ab und füllte es in unseren Roller! Einfach herzlich und beide wollen das Beste für die Gäste! Vielen Dank für die 3 schönen Nächte bei euch! Gerne wieder und eine Empfehlung für jeden.

Keine Kritik nur ein Hinweis für weitere Gäste: Aktuell ist ein weiteres Zimmer geplant, welches aktuell noch gebaut wird. Davon haben wir aber nichts mitbekommen und haben kein bisschen Baulärm gehabt. Manchmal klappt das wlan nicht so gut und der Wasserdruck bei warmen Temperaturen ist recht schwach. Das hat uns aber nicht gestört.

Sehr ruhig, wie im Dschungel. Alles neu und hochwertig. Frühstück auf der Terrasse, Klasse. Sehr nette Inhaber. In 5 Minuten in der Stadt mit tuktuk.

Fußläufig keine Restaurants, man muss in die Stadt, ist aber nicht negativ gemeint, nur eine Hilfe.

Прекрасная гостеприимная семья. Номер чистый, всё работает, в наличии гель и шампунь. Кровать удобная. Завтрак вкусный и сытный, нам очень понравился. Дом находиться ниже проезжей дороги, ухоженный двор, вокруг много зелени, очень приятно просыпаться под пение птиц.

Wi-fi был медленный, но у нас был мобильный интернет.

Sehr leckeres Frühstück und super nettes Personal! Die Unterkunft liegt ca. 5 Minuten mit dem TukTuk von Ella entfernt, daher auch etwas ruhiger! Alles notwendige vorhanden.

Hatten leider ein Zimmer ohne Aussicht in den Dschungel

Very spacious room with a comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast served on your balcony each day. The host was very helpful and friendly. Some information other guests might want to know: The walk into Ella town was lovely. It is roughly 25 mins if you stick to the road, but the fireflies at night were spectacular. I’m sure Tuk Tuks are cheap enough if walking isn’t an option. Also, the room has a fan instead of air-conditioning but this did the trick perfectly for us as the mountain temperature is noticeably cooler. Overall a great stay, we wish we could have had longer.

We had a very pleasant stay at this homestay. The room was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The location is excellent you can easily walk to the town center, or they offer a tuk-tuk service at a very reasonable price that can drop you off and pick you up whenever you need. The breakfast was also very nice and a great way to start the day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place to others.

The staff didn’t speak very strong English, so we had a bit of difficulty communicating about my gluten allergy. That was slightly challenging, but it didn’t affect our stay too much since we had enough food options.

Ce n’est pas négatif mais à savoir que si vous souhaitez accéder au centre d’Ella à pied, c’est un peu loin et en montée il faut absolument être véhiculé.

Stayed over Christmas and really really enjoyed our stay. It was the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka! 😍 Breakfast was extremely good as well and the owners are so so lovely! Helped us with recommendations, parking of our TukTuk and so much more. 🫶🏼

El personal muy amable nos ofreció té al llegar, y nos lo trajeron junto con unas galletas. El almuerzo también estaba muy bueno. La habitación amplia y agradable.

Se encuentra a unos 5-10 minutos de Ella, por lo que conseguir un tuktuk desde allí es un poco complicado. La cobertura y el wifi no funcionaban muy bien.

Lieu très calme dans un très beau jardin. Un peu à l’écart de la ville (5/10 min en Tuktuk) donc au calme avec le chant des oiseaux Chambre propre confortable avec ventilateur et moustiquaire Eau chaude et débit correct ! Les hôtes étaient adorables, on a pu avoir café et thé quand on voulait. Ils nous ont fait gouté leur banane du jardin. Le petit déjeuner était excellent, avec cuisine sri lankaise, servi directement sur votre petite table sur votre coin terrasse On recommande à 100%, petite bulle apaisante au loin de la foule de Ella

Ich vergebe selten 10/10 aber diese Unterkunft verdient es. Sie ist modern ausgestattet (sogar Kühlschrank), groß und sauber, der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und sympathisch und die Lage ist perfekt. Etwas abgelegen vom Trubel der Stadt aber dennoch in der Nähe. Für Ella würde ich unabhängig von der Unterkunft sowieso einen Roller empfehlen. Das Frühstück war super. Außerdem: ein sehr bequemes Federbett!

Die Unterkunft liegt fußläufig 20min von Ella Zentrum entfernt. Dadurch hat man eine sehr ruhige Lage mit Ausblick ins Grüne. Der Weg wurde zum Teil sehr negativ beschrieben, dies können wir nicht nachvollziehen. Der Weg ist sehr gut ausgebaut, es fahren sowohl TukTuks als auch Autos. Wir haben uns für zwei Tage einen Roller gemietet und auch damit war es kein Problem. Das Internet geht nur innerhalb des Zimmers nicht (manchmal geht das WLAN), man kann also ohne Probleme ein PickMe bestellen. Sowohl das Zimmer als auch das Badezimmer sind geräumig und sehr sauber mit viel Liebe fürs Detail. Die Familie ist sehr freundlich, es gibt ein super Frühstück und auch einen Laundry Service.

Das Zimmer war neu und man fühlte sich sofort wohl und zuhause. Das beste Zimmer was wir bisher hatten. Das Bett war leider nicht so weich wie woanders aber das ist ja sowieso Geschmacks Sache. Der Balkon ist das Highlight

Ein bisschen außerhalb vom Zentrum. Für uns perfekt. Sehr sehr sauber und wirklich viel Liebe zum Detail. Das ganze Zimmer ist sehr detailverliebt gestaltet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!

Roller oder eigenes Tuktuk ein muss für die Lage

De familie is zo ontzettend lief en behulpzaam. Uitgebreid vers ontbijt met fruit uit eigen tuin:) Nieuwe kamer met ruime badkamer, fijn bed en rustig gelegen buiten de drukte van het centrum. Aanrader!

El desayuno estaba muy bueno, y la familia era muy servicial. La habitación y el baño estaban limpios.

Las sábanas y las toallas eran un poco viejas. Los enchufes son distintos a los que suele haber en el resto del país. No hay cobertura en el alojamiento, por lo que se hacía complicado reservar los trayectos.

Muy buenas instalaciones y muy limpio, muy buen servicio y desayuno.

La stanza è molto pulita e ben tenuta. I proprietari sono molto disponibili e cordiali. La colazione viene servita tutte le mattine ed è ottima (ottimo il tè). Questa homestay dista circa 1km dal centro, però il proprietario sarà super disponibile a trovare un Tuktuk per gli spostamenti.

Das Zimmer war sehr sauber. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und zur Begrüßung haben wir einen Tee bekommen. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Das WLAN funktionierte bei uns gut. Da wir bereits um 6 Uhr den Zug nach Kandy nahmen erhielten wir von den Gastgebern früh morgens ein Lunchpaket. Außerdem kümmerten sie sich um ein TukTuk, welches uns zum Bahnhof fuhr. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in der Unterkunft sehr genossen.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt bei Mountain Shack Homestay. Das Frühstück war wirklich total lecker und die Gastgeber waren auch sehr zuvorkommend. :)

The hosts are the most lovely people ever. They truly care about their guests and even prepared breakfast for us to go at 5.30am. The house is a bit out of town but the walk there in the evening is magical, surrounded by fireflies and nature you can walk down the street in easy 20min from town. Highly recommend :)

I had a wonderful experience with Booking.com! The service was smooth and professional, and the staff was incredibly friendly and caring. They even arranged a tuk-tuk for us, which made getting around so much easier. It really showed how much they cared about making our stay comfortable. The place we stayed was very clean, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Booking.com for a stress-free and enjoyable travel experience!

Location mentioned is wrong, it is 2kms not 1km. Also it is downhill, no auto/tuk tuk wants to go there. No streetlights at all. So you are stuck. Breakfast is pathetic.

The room was spacious and felt very new, the bathroom was clean! There was a big bed with a mosquito net around and you could sit in front of the room and enjoy the diner/ breakfast freshly cooked which was really good! We even had some fresh soursop juice from their own garden! In 20/30 minutes you can walk to the city, it’s a quite easy walk on the street! Just a 2 minute walk away you can also participate on a traditional cooking class!

So glad we got to choose Mountain Shack Guesthouse! It’s located less than 2km away from Ella’s hustle and bustle (20 min walk to the centre) in a very relaxing area. The hosts were genuinely kind and they welcomed us with some tea & biscuits, and a big smile! Although there is a considerable slope to get to the guesthouse from the main road they are very happy to help you with the luggage. We rented a Tuk Tuk and they even offered themselves to bring it down and back up again for us! But what we loved the most was the delicious, home-made Sri Lankan dinners and breakfasts during our stay!

Breakfast was nice, the room was clean, the owners were very friendly 😊 Heavy rain caused the electricity go down for a day. It is a common thing in this city.

We didn’t know that it’s located up in the mountains. The city center was 1 km away, but it took a lot of effort to go to Ella, because it was uphill. The taxi charged more because it’s an uphill drive most of the time.

We loved our stay here! The room is small, but clean and comfortable and our bed also had a mosquito net. The bathroom was also clean. Outside next to the door of our room was a little table that felt like our own little terrace, where we enjoyed the lovely breakfast we got at the homestay. Originally we booked 2 nights, but as soon as we arrived we extended our stay with two more nights, and we didn't regret it. We loved that the location was a bit farther out of town, which allows you to escape the super touristy center of Ella, and enjoy the nature and beautiful views without being surrounded by all the touristy stuff. The staff was lovely, super friendly and always around in case you need to ask something.

If you're very sensitive to sound, there are a lot of birds and chipmunks around, that can be a bit noisy.

This is a perfect stay for me because it stays away from all the crowds and noise in the city center. Walking distance is 20 mins from the train station which I think is a decent walk. Beautiful scenery in the way. I only took tuktuk when I was with my luggage. The breakfast is amusing and you can also have dinner for a very reasonable price. The family is very kind and helpful. I would highly recommend to stay here if you come to Ella.

All great, but if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of Ella then this place is slightly further out.

The host was very friendly and helpful and the room was very nice and modern

They are working on a 2e floor of the guesthouse, and it was terrible noisy. We couldn't find any rest and after 2 days we were exhausted. They also worked in the place next to them so we didn't find Pease and it's important to know that in advance in our opinion... nobody told us and when we arrived we asked about the constructions and she said it was only that day. So it's a bummer

The most hygienic stay we’ve had in Sri Lanka, comfy bed, good shower, amazing staff and a great breakfast! They even packed us some extra food for the train ride, such kind people

Soo kind people, nice welcome the breakfast❤️‍🩹 was amazing, well made, and fruits from the garden🌼. Especially the juice😍 (soursop?treefruit) they made straight from their own garden was heaven so good.. We walked up from their place to the nine arches, then a beautiful walk to the arches of mountain little Adam we did that to, had super vegan diner in Ella, and walked back. Amazing nice long walk all together. Exactly our 'peace 😃of cake!🌿🌜

Seriously I cannot pick out any bad things about this homestay. The room is SO spacious and omg the bed is SUPER comfy! The homestay owner is the sweetest lady and the family took care of me so well. Fantastic breakfast, top quality laundry service(seriously better than the city center), great location. I know for a fact that most of the accommodations in the city center here in Ella can be pretty pricey unless you choose hostel, this is your best choice if you’re on a budget but also wanna have a private room and at the same time still want a good location to access the city center. I rented a scooter and from this homestay to city center it only took around 5 minutes. 100% would recommend to everyone I LOVE this homestay so much.

The accommodation was really nice! The bed was very comfortable and cozy, beautiful room and bathroom. Also with hot water pump! The breakfast was delicious and they made it for the time we wanted to have it. Lovely people!

I liked everything

Naadhika and her family were the perfect hosts. Absolutely polite, accommodative and helpful. Naadhika's mother made us delicious home cooked breakfasts and dinners. We were tired of eating outside food during our trip, so their food was a good healthy break for us. Naadhika's mom is an awesome cook. Their homestay was probably the best experience we had amongst the six other homestays we stayed during our two week trip. We rented their scooter for two days which they offered at a lower price than other commercial places. They even accommodated our request to extend our stay by one day at the last minute and modified their other bookings. Naadhika has a very pleasant personality and is always smiling and her mother is a lovely and sweet lady. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable stay, and if this place is available, please book it right away. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here if I ever visit Ella.

A beautiful place surrounded by greenery and the wonderful sounds of nature. It’s just a 10-minute ride by tuk-tuk or scooter to the center of Ella. The room is spacious and clean, with hot water in the shower. The family running this place is absolutely lovely and very helpful. You are always in touch with the daughter, who patiently answers every question and helps organize anything you might need. The breakfast is local, large, filling, and very tasty. The property is currently being expanded, and more rooms will be available in the future, but for now, there is just one. However, it definitely has great potential, and it’s a must-visit to experience the local atmosphere and meet incredibly kind, friendly, and smiling people. I highly recommend it!

Everything was very clean. We had hot water, toilet paper, soap, and good wifi. The breakfast was very delicious and every day we had something different. The family was welcoming and helped us in every possible way when we asked. It is literally in the middle of nature, very quiet, green, and you can enjoy the sound of birds,insects. Highly recommend Mountain Shack if you want a relaxing, quiet stay in Ella!

The location is 20 minutes by foot from the main road/train station, but if you don't want to walk ( which is lovely near tea plantations), you can take a tuk-tuk. Also there are no shops nearby and this may be an issue for some.

Amazing Homestay - arrived late and got welcomed by the whole family. Room was nice and clean, good space, it was cool in Ella during Oktober so there was no need for the provided fan. Bathroom was equipped with a handsoap (hairdryer was missing) Dinner was really good, they listenend to our request and provided a really affordable and tasty dinner (friedrice with egg) came with some bananas They also offered as an afternoon tea for a really good price, very tasty. The breakfast included toast, rotti, bananas, butter, marmelade and coconut sambol on the first day and pancakes, sandwhiches, bananas, butter and marmelade on the second morning, all served with tea or coffee (we only had the tea) Really good location, close to Ella Town but also a little away to have it quiet. We had our own TukTuk and were able to park it next to the building - a little dirt road takes you down from the "main road" We had a little issue with the Wifi in the beginning, since it is located in the mountain area the mobile-data was not working very well, but the owner fixed it and it worked fine. All in All a great spot, totally recommend!! We would come back anytime when visiting Ella again.

It was absolutely amazed me with the incredible value they provided at a unbelievablely low price and come with surprisingly high quality service and food, you got hot shower, speed wifi, comfortable and clean room,.freshly tasty and authentic local meal definitely without any doubt my best stay in Sri Lanka among my 3 weeks vacations.

We had an amazing experience staying at Mountain Shack home stay. The food was absolutely delicious, with every meal prepared fresh and full of local flavors. It felt like a home-cooked meal, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The owner was incredibly hospitable, making sure I felt welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a warm, friendly, authentic experience.
