The very friendly staff of the whole hotel. From manager till luggage carrier/cleaner. The hotel was clean, the food is amazing, the views are great.

Beautiful property. Has some amazing views of sunrise. Breakfast was good too. A little at height, and away from market, but tuktuk etc. Can be arranged if required.

The manager decided to visit our room during our breakfast. Fortunately my wife went back to our room early and caught him in the act. He was going through our belongings. His first reaction: I didnt take anything! She was just in time but scared shitless. Worst experience ever.

Managers with the intention to steal is never a plus. Contacted the owner, he apologized but that doesn’t do any good.

De unieke kubusvormige kamers geven deze accommodatie echt iets bijzonders. Het uitzicht vanaf het terrein is prachtig en de rustige omgeving zorgt ervoor dat je even helemaal kunt ontspannen.

De toegangsweg is behoorlijk steil en kan in het donker of bij regen wat minder comfortabel zijn.

特にありませんが、室内に蜂が紛れ込んでしまいました。 虫除けや虫が出た場合の殺虫剤など部屋に常備していだけると安心できます。

Room space and facilities.

The main door had a gap when its closed. Outsiders can peep into it. Bathroom has a foul smell, and later found worms or leaches near the closet as there a leak in the closet. AC has water leakage and water was continuously dripping throughout the night. Shower water is either too hot or cold, cannot get continuous warm water.

Mooie ruime kamer met een heel mooi uitzicht. Locatie was goed en personeel heel aardig. Ze hadden de kamer leuk versierd voor mijn jarige vrouw.

Douche was wat lastig te regelen qua temperatuur. Daarnaast waren ze flink aan het bouwen naast het hotel, waardoor we erg vroeg wakker werden van een naar geluid.

Hotel looked quite different - boutique style setup with great views of the hills. Breakfast was very good - they have choices between Sri Lankan & English/Continental, and we went for the Sri Lankan, and they treated us with fresh string hoppers and pol roti and a great curry and other condiments. Truly a good experience. The room also had a beautiful feel to it- quite spacious and thoughtful touches. Room service also was very good - we had our dinner in room, which was very delicious.

We had a wonderful stay at The Ella Cubes and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ella. The rooms are modern, spacious, beautifully designed, and offer some of the most stunning views you could wish for. Waking up to the scenery each morning was an absolute highlight of our trip. The hotel is located around 1 km from the main centre of Ella, but this is easily managed with a driver or a quick tuk-tuk ride, and the peaceful location is well worth it. What truly makes this place special, however, is the incredible team. The owner is a jovial and welcoming gentleman who clearly takes pride in the hotel. The young lady at reception was always warm, friendly, and eager to help. The staff who assisted with our luggage were equally kind and attentive. Our favourite person, though, was Sidharshan. He is quite simply the epitome of what a human being should be—kind, genuine, thoughtful, and always willing to go above and beyond. His warmth and hospitality made our stay even more memorable. The entire team was extremely accommodating in every way. They even arranged for our laundry to be completed within 24 hours at a very reasonable cost, which was greatly appreciated during our travels. We honestly loved our stay here. The Ella Cubes is a true gem in Ella, combining beautiful accommodation, breathtaking views, and some of the best hospitality we have experienced. We would not hesitate to stay again.

I honestly cannot fault this accommodation. Everything was perfect. From the incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful staff, to the amazing food from the onsite cafe (a magnificent breakfast included) and the clean and comfortable rooms. The bathroom was spotless, the bed was comfortable and there were lots of condiments in the room which was thoughtful. The staff made our experience so special because of how lovely they were. From the moment we arrived until the second we left, we felt so at home. I couldn’t recommend enough. We will always cherish our stay in Ella and remember these beautiful people and their exceptional hospitality.

It’s a short tuk tuk from the main town which didn’t bother us because staying at the accomodation was worth the short trip but some guests may look for somewhere closer to town.

Initially we thought we were a little too far away from town, but The Cubes turned out to be our favourite stay in SL. The staff are a true team. The rooms are spacious an well equipped with lovely valley views. The food… a true stand out.

The place was clean and comfortable, with a good breakfast and a beautiful view. Most importantly, Primal and the staff were amazing, they took care of everything and were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our stay.

Blick, Zimmer

Lovely property just outside the town which is perfect for peace and quiet away from the hustle, bustle and back packers. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. The highlight of our trip was the delicious beef curry served in their restaurant, best curry we have had in Sri Lanka and we’ve had a lot of fabulous food!

Lovely host , very clean rooms and quiet location

Cube’s Ella was even better than the images show. The rooms were extremely clean, spacious, and very modern, with great facilities provided throughout the stay. The room size was impressively large and the views were also really good, which made the experience even better. The management team were excellent, and Richard was especially very helpful and accommodating. The location is also ideal, around a 10-minute drive from Ella city, so you’re close to everything you need, but still far enough to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Overall, it was a really great experience and I would highly recommend staying here.

Nous avons vraiment apprécié cet hôtel, loin de l’agitation de la ville, il permet une réelle relaxation. La chambre était superbe, avec un balcon vue sur la jungle. Le personnel était aux petits soins, et mention spéciale à l’ami du propriétaire qui était vraiment adorable et à notre serveur durant le séjour . L’hôtel est facilement accessible du centre ville, soit à pied environ 30mn soit en tuk tuk pour 5mn. Concernant la restauration, les portions étaient très importantes (peut être même trop) et parfois un peu trop épicées..!

We traveled to Sri Lanka for 2 weeks as a couple from Germany in February 2026. We stayed in 7 different hotels. I'll only remark on the positive and negative things. Otherwise expect a hotel matching the category and price: Positive: - the host was very welcoming, the room was nice (we did not stay in one of the containers but on the first floor regular room); the breakfast and some of the foods for dinner were really amazing, but you have to bring some time for dinner Negative: - our room and one other room had AC issues but they fixed it while we were out

Tour d’abord, nous avons bénéficié d’un accueil absolument remarquable. Le manager est particulièrement attentif au bien être de ses invités. La chambre est spacieuse, propre, bien équipée. La cuisine proposée par l’hôtel (dîner et petit déjeuner) est particulièrement délicieuse. Nous recommandons d’y goûter ! Les équipes sont aux petits soins pour vous assurer l’expérience la plus agréable possible. L’hôtel est bien placé, à quelques minutes en tuk tuk de la rue principale d’Ella (point de départ de toutes les excursions). Le rapport qualité prix est exceptionnel, on ne peut que recommander cet établissement.

L’expérience a été quasiment parfaite, le seul point d’amélioration éventuel serait l’odeur des canalisations dans la salle de bain. (Peut être était-ce seulement passager).

Be very clear, the room is a shipping container. The bathroom, although attached to the shipping container, is through a separate door. It’s a little awkward. There are some strange things about the room: the chair was broken, there are no place to put bags, there are absolutely no towel, racks or towel pegs for when you shower or wash your face at the sink. I didn’t like that because you have to negotiate your towel between your legs if you wash your face or brush your teeth. The bed is shoved up against the wall on one side without a nightstand, which makes it hard for two people to charge their phones or place any items. It is fine, but with the reviews being as high as they were, I definitely expected a nicer place.

Da wir den Troubel von Ella zu viel fanden war es schön für uns, dass das Hotel etwas abgelegen war. Aber mit dem Tuktuk nur 5min. und Geschehen. Das Personal war sehr nett und bemüht, das Omelett zum Frühstück war sehr lecker und der Ausblick vom Essensbereich war sehr angenehm.

Unser Zimmer war an einer Terrasse wo Menschen morgens entlang gingen. Da die Vorhänge maximal Blickdicht sind war das kein Problem aber man hätte sie nicht offen lassen können um sich morgens von der Sonne begrüßen zu lassen :)

The nature surrounding this accommodation was lovely. Also, the team was happy to help at all times. We liked dining in the adjacent restaurant. The breakfast was lovely!

The cubes is located in an upcoming part of Ella. This means that a lot of construction work was going in around us. There was no sitting space (sofa) in the room which made us want to spend not that much time at the accommodation. Also, cleanliness could be improved (f.e. uncleaned doors/windows, dusty surfaces).

Le personnel sympathique est très accueillant et serviable. La vue est agréable et la salle de restaurant est vraiment sympa.

Les chambres sont dans des algekos en métal, sans aucun charme. Le tarif de la chambre de 60€ est élevé par rapport aux autres établissements dans lesquels nous avons séjourné. Les draps n’étaient pas propres. Le personnel compréhensif nous les a immédiatement changé. La salle de bain laisse aussi à désirer.

Schöne Unterkunft wie auf den Bildern. Das Superior Zimmer hat uns besser gefallen, da es etwas größer und schöner eingerichtet ist und besser instand gehalten. Sowohl das Frühstück als auch das Abendessen waren sehr lecker! Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit.

The room was huge, clean and super comfortable. The staff went above and beyond even trying to help us solve issues with our next hotel. Breakfast was huge and delicious and it was quiet for sleeping. It’s a bit out of the main town area but was a short tuk tuk ride away and definitely required some hill and stair climbing. We would highly recommend this hotel.

I couldn't say enough good things about The Cubes Ella. We had originally planned to stay for one night, but ended up extending to three as we loved it so much. The rooms are spacious, with nice design touches and extremely comfortable beds. The breakfast options are delicious and the service is excellent. The staff really makes the place - we felt so well looked after. A few shout-outs for the people who made our stay special: Rishard, the Manager, who is always up for a chat and makes sure you're happy; Primal, the Chef who's also a guide and can arrange many things (like the driver who took us back to Colombo), and our TukTuk driver Amal, who showed us all around town and was very kind and considerate. Ella itself is a wonderfully vibrant town with lots of things to do and see, great food options, and beautiful nature. I definitely recommend Ella and if you're visiting, to stay at The Cubes.

The only downside that might bother some people, is that the location is a bit outside the main town. However, it also means you're in a calmer and more natural area. The hotel staff can easily help arrange a tuktuk to get into town.

Wir waren in einem der Container (Doppelzimmer mit Bergblick) Diese sind recht klein, gerade wenn man mit 2 Koffern reist und das Bett nicht allzu bequem Das Bad hatte leider keinerlei Ablageflächen oder Haken für Handtücher und war eher Hostel-Style

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. They were able to assist with booking scooter hire and answering any questions we had. The breakfast was generous. Room was neat and tidy, quite small and basic - but did the job. There were renovations occurring during our stay however didn’t impact as we were early risers. Once completed, the property will be great. It was 500r to tuk tuk into town, however we hired scooters - 5min drive from town.

Het personeel was echt absoluut fantastisch. Nergens in Sri lanka hebben we zulke authentiek goede service ontvangen. De meneer van de receptie en de meneer van het restaurant komen elke dag vragen hoe het gaat (op een prettige manier, zonder dat het heel gemaakt overkomt) en of je nog iets nodig had. Ze gingen above en beyond om het je naar de zin te maken. Ze waren ook heel behulpzaam toen we wat moeite hadden met het starten van onze tuktuk en wat kleine probleempjes op de kamer werden meteen opgelost.Het ontbijt was ook heel lekker en het hotel heeft een mooi uitzicht! Qua prijs-kwaliteit verhouding kunnen we dit hotel zeker aanbevelen!

Het bed was niet heel comfortabel, voelde een beetje als een goedkoop matras. Ook waren er wat bouwwerkzaamheden aan de gang overdag. Wij hadden hier zelf niet echt last van omdat we bijna heel de dag op pad waren, maar mocht je wat meer tijd willen spenderen op de kamer dan is dat misschien wat minder prettig. Het hotel ligt op 5 a 10 minuten rijden van het centrum en de taxi apps werken hier niet. Gelukkig was het hotel heel behulpzaam met het regelen van vervoer.

We zijn erg gastvrij ontvangen door een vriendelijke manager en zijn collega. De kamer was erg groot en mooi ingericht. Ver boven onze verwachtingen. De service was goed en klantvriendelijk.

Er vinden bouwwerkzaamheden plaats bij het hotel en in de omgeving wordt ook veel gebouwd. We hadden op meer rust gehoopt buiten het centrum van Ella.

Sehr tolle Unterkunft mit einem schönen Blick in die Berge Ellas. Die etwas abgelegene Lage hat uns dabei besonders gut gefallen - mit dem TukTuk ist man trotzdem schnell und günstig in Ella selbst. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und gut ausgestattet, das Personal ist extrem zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit und wir wurden jeden Tag mit einem abwechslungsreichen Frühstück versorgt! Große Empfehlung!

Einziges Manko ist, dass der Sichtschutz in den Räumen aus teils nicht 100%ig blickundurchlässigen Vorhängen besteht. Aufgrund der Anordnung der Zimmer ist dennoch die Privatsphäre sichergestellt.

Tolle Unterkunft mit Blick in die Berge! Es gab jeden Morgen ein sehr leckeres, abwechslungsreiches Frühstück. Perfekter Ausgangspunkt, um alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in und um Ella zu erkunden. Wir waren mit unserem eigenen TukTuk unterwegs: In ungefähr 5-10 Min waren wir in Ella und der Halpewatte Tee Plantage, 15 min bis zum Little Adams Peak. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!😊
