Tropical Garden Homestay Pidurangala

El host del hotel le dio un puñetazo al conductor del tuktuk que nos vino a recoger con la app PickMe. El conductor se quedó en shock un segundo mirándonos sin entender y posteriormente salió y empezó a grabar al propietario del hotel y ahora agresor. Cuando este vio que lo estaba grabando se volvió totalmente loco y corrió hacia el conductor que se encontraba a nuestro lado y empezó a golpearlo totalmente fuera de sí. Yo sin saber cómo actuar traté de ponerme en medio y calmarlo y uno de sus puñetazos me rozó el brazo. Finalmente su mujer lo cogió, el hombre la apartó y casi la tira al suelo. Todo esto delante de su hijo, un chico de 28 años que en todo momento miraba sin hacer absolutamente nada y cuando la mujer había conseguido llevarse al agresor nos dijo que podíamos subirnos al tuktuk como si nada. Así lo hicimos y el hombre nos llevó, respirando fuerte y agitadamente y sudando mientras se tocaba la boca. Cuando le preguntamos qué acababa de suceder nos dijo que era porque los del hotel tienen un tuktuk. No podemos asegurarlo pero sospechamos que tienen atemorizados a la competencia, cuando coges transportes con PickMe a veces te cancelan, pero en ese lugar nos cancelaban prácticamente todos. La situación más desagradable y tensa que he vivido en un hotel. Para acabar una hora después del checkout me llega un mensaje de booking a preguntando si nos habíamos alojado por qué el alojamiento había indicado que no habíamos ido, desconozco si para cobrar dos veces o intentando evitar que pudiéramos poner una reseña y explicar la situación. Una pena porque nos cambió el mood y la estancia en Sigiriya. También debo decir que al día siguiente el hijo se disculpó y dijo que habían tenido problemas con él anteriormente.

Super liebe, hilfsbereite Familie, die uns sehr herzlich aufgenommen hat. Sie halfen uns bei jedem Anliegen sehr gern weiter. Der Garten ist sehr schön und es wächst einfach alles darin, Kokosnüsse, Avocados, Sternfrucht,…

Les propriétaires sont adorables ! Le petit déjeuner est excellent et très copieux. Le fait de pouvoir manger sur place le soir est un gros plus du fait de la localisation de l'hébergement.

Przemiły gospodarz i jego rodzina, czuliśmy się bardzo zaopiekowani. Pyszne tradycyjne jedzenie, dobrze działająca klimatyzacja i wifi. Gospodarz zorganizował nam bardzo fajne, etyczne safari - widzieliśmy mnóstwo zwierząt ale bez ścigania ich jeepem. Poza tym zawiózł do miasta i polecił miejsca do zwiedzania.

Zaproponował wyjazd do spice garden który okazał się być okoliczną pułapką na turystów.

Unglaublich tolle Gastgeber, super freundlich und bemüht. Auch spontan konnte ich noch Dinner bestellen, welches einfach super war (Portionen sehr groß und günstig). Der Gastgeber hat zudem Fahrten zum Pidurangala und zur Busstation gemacht, ohne Aufpreis. Geben Reisetipps und vermitteln Touren (Preis fair)! Ein kleines bisschen ab vom Schuss, aber der Bus aus dambulla hält in Sigiriya, von da aus ~ 600 LKR mit tuktuk oder auch zu Fuß. Der Pidurangala ist ähnlich entfernt. Würde ich jederzeit wieder so wählen.

A pleasant and relaxing stay with a happy family. Removed from the jam of tourism.

L’emplacement est parfait, excentré donc très calme. Ils m’ont d’ailleurs gentiment prêté un vélo pour me déplacer jusqu’aux sites d’intérêts qui étaient tout proche, une petite balade très agréable avant de grimper les rochers. Les hôtes, une charmante famille, ont été très accueillants, et compréhensifs de mes requêtes !

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt: Großes Zimmer, warmes Wasser und einen wunderschönen Garten. Das Homestay ist schön in der Natur gelegen und sehr ruhig. Ein paar Essmöglichkeiten gibt es in der Nähe, aber auch das Frühstück und Abendessen in der Unterkunft waren außergewöhnlich gut. Die komplette Familie war sehr freundlich, zuverlässig und hat sich um jegliches Anliegen gekümmert - egal, ob einen Transport um 5 Uhr morgens in der Früh oder eine Jeep Safari zu den Elefanten. Alles war auf die Minute pünktlich. Ich kann nur empfehlen hier zu übernachten und bei gewünschten Aktivitäten dies direkt über die Unterkunft zu buchen.

Une guesthouse qur l’on recommande, des hotes incroyable, ils nous ont acceuillis chez eux avec beaucouo de gentillesse!! Une des meilleure guesthouse qu’on est faite au sri-lanka!

Super vriendelijke mensen die alles voor je doen! Ontbijt en diner ook enorm lekker! Ruime kamer en badkamer! Beste homestay waar ik tot nu toe geweest ben! Ze raden tours aan en brengen je indien nodig naar het centrum of tonen je verschillende mooie plaatsen!

El lugar es precioso. Las instalaciones limpias, muy bien cuidadas y muy cómodas. A 5 mins en tuktuk del mirador de la lion rock, un acierto! Nosotras cenamos y buena calidad/precio.

Heel gastvrij verblijf bij een lieve familie. Mooie tuin vol fruit, heerlijke lunch en altijd bereid om te helpen met vervoer of safari. We voelden ons meteen welkom!

Er was geen airco enkel een waaier waardoor het warm was in de kamer. Veel insecten in de kamer. Douchebril was kapot.

I loved staying at the tropical garden homestay! The entire family was so nice, I felt welcome immediately and they were super helpful with tips about the area! They even took me on Safari and to a music festival with them. I honestly felt like part of the family! Also the breakfast was very delicious! I would recommend it to anyone!

We were warmly welcomed by the whole family, which made us feel at home right away. Initially, we came only to climb the rock, but we ended up booking the safari with them — and it was an unforgettable experience! We did several safaris in Sri Lanka, and this one was by far the best. We also had dinner on-site, and it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!

Místo bylo opravdu skvělé, čisté a s krásnou zahrádkou a milímy lidmy kolem. Večer jsme si tam daly i úžasnou večeři a povídaly si s rodinou která nás ubytovávala. Snídaně taky výborná. Nemám nic špatného co bych mohla napsat.

Die Gastgeber sind sehr aufmerksam und kümmern sich sofort um jegliches Anliegen. Wir haben auch unsere Wäsche abgegeben und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Unterkunft liegt in einem wunderschönen Garten mit Blick ins Grüne. Außerdem haben wir abends einmal dort gegessen und das Essen war super! Genauso wie das Frühstück :) Zusammenfassung: wir würden jederzeit gerne wieder kommen!!

Die Gastgeber sind super freundlich, wir haben uns wie ein Teil der Familie gefühlt. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und das selbst gekochte Essen von der Mutter der Familie war fantastisch. Das Homestay liegt nur 20 min zu Fuß vom Pidurangala Rock entfernt. Die Lage mitten im Dschungel hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Danke!!!

Es gab keine Klimaanlage und das WLAN war nicht so gut. Wir fanden beides nicht schlimm, weil das Zimmer durch den Ventilator nachts trotzdem kühl war und digital detox auch mal gut tut.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is fantastic if you’re into hiking or exploring nature. Pidurangala Rock is just around the corner – perfect if you want to catch the sunrise – and Hurulu Eco Park is also nearby. I went on a safari there and were lucky enough to see wild elephants, which was an unforgettable experience. The room had everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. It’s a simple place, but you feel at ease right away. What made the stay even better was the staff. Everyone was super kind and helpful, and they were happy to give advice or help organize trips. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot close to nature with lots to do nearby, I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Location and garden is great, breakfast was good, host is very welcoming and they can give you a ride with tuk tuk. Only bad thing is no A/C, but we already knew that.

We chose to stay here because of its close location to Pedurangala rock. The host family were super friendly and gave us a lift in their tuk tuk to the rock early in the morning for sunrise and when we arrived home we had a delicious breakfast with fresh juices. The garden is gorgeous and peaceful. On our first night there we also ordered the vegetable curry for dinner and it was amazing - the mum is a wonderful cook!

The WiFi didn’t have the best signal and sometimes didn’t work but otherwise was a lovely stay with a very friendly and helpful family

Highly recommend this stay! The family was so nice to us. Great room with fan and good breakfast. Also they took us early morning to the pidurangala rock because of the wild elephants (500 LKR). Thanks again!

We had a very nice stay with this friendly family in pidurangala. Stay is very close (2km) to the pidurangala rock. Nice and quite garden and delicious diner! Room was okay for good price. Comfortable bed and shower. Good to know that there is no AC during the night but we could handle it.

Absolutely loved staying here. One of my favorite accommodations on a 5 week trip to Sri Lanka. The homestay is conveniently located close to the Pidurangala Rock, which was one of the highlights of our vacation. Better than Lion Rock in my opinion. It’s on a quiet road and surrounded by a lush green garden. One could easily just hangout and chill at the homestay and have a lovely day. The room is super clean and spacious enough and has a bathroom with hot water and good water pressure. Best shower during a 5 week stay. A fan on the wall which was more than sufficient and never felt hot while staying here. Delicious local breakfast served at a time of choice and we had dinner here on both nights too. Highly recommend. But what really makes this place stand out is the lovely family that run it. They were absolutely great and made me and my almost two year old daughter feel very sad to have to leave. My daughter had the time of her life playing with the two nephews Shamika and Sandeepa and the entire family looked out for both our wellbeing. Also good to know is that the son, Lahiru, has a tuktuk and can take you on tours and drive you anywhere you want. We went to Polonnaruwa with him and made it very easy to get there and around. Great value for money and highly recommend staying here. You won’t regret it.

We had a wonderful stay! The host and his family were incredibly kind and caring, always ready to help with anything we needed. During our long journey from Ella to Sigiriya, the host kept checking on us and even offered to pick us up from the bus station—a truly thoughtful and heartwarming gesture. The property is clean, comfortable, and surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees, complete with a hammock to relax in. We felt so welcome and truly enjoyed our time here. Highly recommend staying here.

The garden was absolutely stunning! It was well-maintained, created a peaceful atmosphere. I really enjoyed spending time there. The host was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

The accommodation is only 3 km from Sygiria Lion rock. We wanted to walk there for the sunrise but the host warned us about elephant roaming during dusk and offered us a ride with tuk tuk to Sygiria in the morning. We walked on the way back and saw some ancient ruins and temple, it was really nice. The accommodation is peaceful and you can relax there. The host was really friendly and helpful, he also picked us up in Dambulla and the following day also dropped us at bus station and helped to catch bus to Kandy. 😊

This place was a hidden little Gem I stayed here for 3 nights and loved my time here. I could have easily stayed longer. The property is located a little out of town (which is a good thing) but only a 5 minute tuk tuk ride! the home itself is surrounded by rice paddy fields and nestled in a lovely garden with fruit trees and lovely plants. The family welcomed me into their home like one of their own from the minute I got there. Lahiru communicated with me before I arrived offering to pick me up from Dambulla in his tuk tuk ensuring I got there safely after a loooong bus ride. The rooms were immaculate and clean. Tiled floors and hot showers with mosquito nets provided and a fan. Large comfortable bed and clean spotless sheets. They helped me rent a bicycle so I could go and explore and cycle into town. He also was available to give me a lift into Sigiriya and pick me up whenever I needed him. The food was the best I’d had in Sri Lanka. The town Sigiriya was full of westernised overpriced restaurants so I ate every night here and it did not once disappoint. They even waited for the bus with me when I left waving me off. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and it was lovely to meet you all xxx

Sigiriya was the most beautiful place in these countries. What made it beautiful was not its endurance. The place I found to stay was cute. There were mosquito nets for mosquitoes. The internet was uninterrupted. The bathroom had plenty of water and hot water. Most importantly, the host guided me from Candy to the destination. He suggested and arranged a safari in a very beautiful park there. I saw many more elephants than I did in Yala. The coffee I drank in the evening and the breakfast in the morning were delicious. They also helped me wash my clothes.

The family that run the homestay are the loveliest people I've met in Sri Lanka! Incredibly friendly, hospitable, and accomodating. The lady of the house is an amazing cook, the food was some of the best I've had in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was varied and every day was a delight. I even had dinner here a few nights and it was absolutely delicious! Madushan, their son, was so nice and helpful. Helped me to rent a scooter, gave me loads of tips around Sigiriya and even drove me to the station early in the morning to catch my bus! Would 100% recommend staying here, feels like a home away from home!

Amazingly clean house. Beautiful room, lovely garden and great food. But the most important reason to stay here is because of the family! So lovely, mother is an amazing chef, father is very nice and knows a lot about the area, and the son will arrange the best possible stay for you. He will bring you everywhere, even in the middle of the night, arranges (cheap!) safari tour’s for you and will bring you to all the local spots for beautiful sunsets and nice restaurants. Wish this family all the best.

Every curry I eat now is nothing compared to the curry from the mother of this house.

Everything was ok!

It was a very pleasant moment in the company of this family, the cuisine is truly exceptional. The proximity to the lion rock is really very practical, as well as the climb to see the sunrise which is truly magnificent. The geographical location is perfect, the place is very calm, the garden is magnificent, a real haven of peace, an ideal place to rest and enjoy nature. The hosts are really very welcoming and attentive to the guests. Thank you for this moment, I have wonderful memories of it.
