merivale separate studio

Absolutely loved my stay at Merivale separate studio. It is a beautiful little peaceful retreat, with great attention to detail. My favourite feature was the incredibly comfy bed and lovely linens. Merivale is such a beautiful suburb and so handy to the city centre. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Christchurch.

Cosy, very quiet air conditioning unit, compact but roomy enough. Very good locatiion for what we wanted.

Towels were slightly rough

Heatpump was good once it heated the room, and the bed was comfortable. Good shower. Good parking. Felt safe.

Small window needed a black out curtain. Old carpet with stains wasn't inviting - perhaps changing this out will improve the feel?

It was a haven - so well set up and so warmly welcoming on behalf of the lovely host.

Brought some pricy cookies from a bakery to take home for my daughters and when we packed up today they were covered in a ridiculous amount of ants after that we also spotted ants on the bed. Tv also didn’t work and bathroom sink tap leaks constantly

Very tiny basin. Water splashing over the floor when you wash your face. However, it was good.

The studio itself is small but nice and cozy. You got everything you need. It's a quiet airbnb in Christ city. The owner allowed 30 mins late check out. Thanks for this.

It's so hard to find where it is. We arrived when it was dark. Googlemap directed us to 76b, but the owner said it is neither 76b nor 76a. We finally found it is 76 which was not even included in googlemap. Thus strongly suggest you arrive when there is still daylight. Check-in time frame is 2-10pm but the owner didn't answer calls after 9.30pm. The bathroom is small which is fine but the floor drain in shower room stuck too much hair so my feet were always in water. There is only a coffee table in the room which is too low for having breakfast. There is a small dining table and two chairs oudoor, but we can't use them cz it was rainy.

Our experience would have been more to our liking if there was a wider range of dishes suitable for smaller meals, deserts and able to be used in the microwave. Cups were very stained inside and unappealing - so did not have a hot drink! The wine glasses were very dusty / marked. Dishes did not match. I wondered why they could not have purchased a dinner set including cups / saucers / mugs. The cushions and carpet looked worn and stained - where as rest of room looked better.

Everything was fine but it is a small space i.e. no real space for bags or spreading out but that is what it is - a functional place to stay in a great part of ChCh.

Well appointed room with good facilities. Nice and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Proximity to Christchurch city was great, easily walkable.

We would have preferred for there to be no other car in the designated car parking spot when we arrived. It confused us and was mildly irritating. A small table and chairs inside the unit to eat at would have been great, the outside table and chairs provided were rusty and no good to us when it was cold outside. (Get rid of the two seat couch, it serves no real purpose here). It would have been nice for the hosts to pop in and say hello and ask if we had settled in well as we were booked for three nights. It lacked a personal touch.

Lovely warm room to arrive to, perfect for a night's stay

Lovely and clean, well located, all the amenities we needed, nicely decorated, comfy bed, and good shower. From our v short interaction the host seemed lovely and friendly and was proactive with instructions over message

Would rate a 10/10 if the bathroom door closed fully and the lock on the front door was easier to use - we had a bit of trouble with it sticking.

All you needed and very cozy

The host kindly left door open as l had a late flight and had the room toasty and warm with the heat pump on as it was a cool Christchurch Night. It was a handy location to where l needed to travel. The bed was very comfy. Definitely will re book if available next time.

I loved the privacy and seperate entrance that allowed easy access to the property at all times during the day. The unit is cleverly designed with all the appliances and furniture well chosen.

It was warm and comfortable

I didn’t like that there was no fiscally to pay the account for my stay someone I believe the property son came knocking at the door at 9.35 pm asking for cash payment which I don’t have the money on me I expect to be able to pay by card for the booking that I made with booking.Com I would have thought that you would have changed my bank account with the card that I had supplied at the time of booking. The driver way was very tight and very difficult to park in the dark no room to turn around.

What a fantastic experience! The property boasts an amazing location, making it incredibly convenient to get around. The attention to detail in the room was outstanding – the top-quality amenities, including the lovely linen and high-end plates, truly elevated the stay. My room and ensuite were modern, impeccably clean, and a real highlight. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this property to anyone!

Peter the host is amazing. We were in a sticky situation with our daughter stuck in CHCH (thanks Air NZ) and Peter was super helpful and went the extra mile to make her time stress free. Definitely recommend!

The location is great with easy access to merivale mall and cafes etc. Nice and clean. Privacy is good. Comfortable and pleasant

Shower drain was slow to drain the water. Would have liked to use the heater but couldn't get it going on warm. Electric blanket and side light didn't have a power point to plug into.

The Studio was very comfortable and well located. The host was incredibly friendly and very polite. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was clean. Would definitely recommend! Thank you Peter!

The property is new, very clean, and the air conditioning works well. The shower has really good pressure. The location is great, close to shops, and has safe off-street parking.

These are small issues, but if rectified, it would make the place a lot more pleasurable to stay. The room is very small for two people and would be best suited to an individual guest. The property is noted as being accessible. This is incorrect. There is a large step into the property and is not easily accessible to a person with accessibility issues. There are pots and pans and a frypan but no element to cook on. There is ground coffee provided (a nice touch), but no plunger to use it. There was no other form of coffee provided. There is a microwave, however there isn't an obvious microwave proof bowl. The unit is advertised as having TV. This shouldn't be advertised as such, as there is no free to air TV available. We note this was also raised by other visitors but hasn't been rectified. There is a towel rail missing in the bathroom (there are marks where it had fallen off), the toilet seat slips sideways and the shower fills with water when used, and takes a long time to drain Overall the concept is great, it just needs attention to detail to make it better.

Great central location. The room was cozy and comfortable.

The room is not detached, it is joined with the main house. The occupants of the house had a very loud and raucous gathering one evening and where screaming and shouting directly outside the window. It was stopped eventually after contacting the hosts but it did put me off an otherwise great stay.

The property was central and provided us with a comfy place to stay in Christchurch. We visit often and this place could have been ideal for us to use regularly.

We had to contact the owners to find out how to get in as had not heard from them. We had difficulty getting the TV channels to go & this was not resolved. We also left two containers in the fridge by mistake & contacted owners on our departure date to inform them & that we would collect them the following week. When we contacted them to remind them to leave containers out there was only 1 container left out which was an old cracked crappy one. They then said nothing like the ones left. had been found. Not very impressed, especially when we contacted them on our departure day to inform them they were forgotten & were left in the fridge. We had thought that this apartment could have been beneficial to us both as we come to Christchurch quite a bit but don't think that will work now under these circumstances which is disappointing.

The room was small but excellently appointed including heat pump. Everything I needed was there.

The only issue I had, a minor one, was that I could not work out how to access free to air TV channels.
