French Hotel

Reasonably clean. Amenities worked fine - AC, Wi-Fi, fridge, water kettle. Drinking water is provided daily. An elevator is available. Service was good. Walking distance to the central market, and “Gerbang Malam” area. Quick car ride to the train station and old town area. Located on a main street. Convenience store next door, and a few steps away from a money changer. Good value for money.

Hot water in the shower can be slow at times; interior design and amenities felt quite old and tired; lighting is inadequate; limited TV channels, and the TV could not be turned on using the remote; our room’s key card or the digital lock unit on the door was not working properly, so we had to use the manual key.

La climatisation n’a que deux modes: moyen (qui est déjà assez fort) ou fort. Elle souffle directement sur les têtes de lit ce qui n’est pas terrible pour dormir sans se réveiller avec un mal de gorge le lendemain. Le quartier était calme mais pas hyper sympathique.

Helpful staff, especially one by the name of Emelia. She allowed me to use her mobile phone to call the Grab Call Centre when i left my phone in the car after a Grab ride.

L'hotel si trova in un'ottima posizione per visitare la città. Lo staff è molto gentile e ci ha fornito molto consigli, lo abbiamo apprezzato molto. La camera è spaziosa e pulita. Anche se siamo stati 2 notti, ci hanno pulito la camera, hanno sostituito gli asciugamani e ci hanno fornito altre 2 bottiglie di acqua, i prodotti per il bagno e le bustine di tè che avevamo utilizzato. Complimenti!

The hotel required maintenance, it is quite old, even the sighted board no light at all.

Hotel sin encanto ni alma y una molesta e innecesaria señal sonora al entrar en la habitación, que cada vez que lo hacía cualquier otro huésped también sonara, siendo perfectamente audible en tu propia habitación. Era fin de semana y había bastante movimiento de gente, así que era desquiciante. ¡Qué necesidad hay de tener ese timbre! Espejo del baño para personas de 1,50 de altura, yo tenía que agacharme. ¡Ojo, el domingo por la mañana mercadillo y hay mucho jaleo desde las 6 de la mañana, incluyendo altavoces con música alta! Tapones para los oídos imprescindibles.

We came by a touring bike & allowed us to park in the hotel vicinity which was located @ the back hotel. We were very2 thankful to her for highlighting this. Very humble & courteous too. Homeless scattered along the vicinity. Barely unpleasant to see. One just like to loiter in-front of 7-11 which was just next to French Hotel. Getting drunk & talking nonsense. Its a hassle to shop @ 7-11. Municipal Councillor should look into this seriously. Pity the 7-11 staff whom had to handle homeless every-night when buying liquor, thus leaving stinking & putrid odour in 7-11 itself! Absurd🤬

I chose a room without windows, this room was very humid. I noticed that the towels and bedsheets felt a bit humid as well. Having the AC on helped with this. The room was clean. The staff was very friendly.

The hotel room was surprisingly big, not unlike typical hotels within the city area. Free parking is available, at the nearby Warung Theater @ Cathay, only 2 minutes walk from the hotel. However, at night when the restaurant is busy, it may be a little bit difficult to find a spot to park as the restaurant customers also park in the same area. Lots of good eating places nearby, including the Warung Theater (recommended), Mohd Chan, Hainan Chicken Rice, etc. all within walking distance.

French Hotel Ipoh offers a budget-friendly stay with a prime location in downtown Ipoh. Rooms are clean, compact, and comfortable, featuring strong A/C, good storage, fast Wi-Fi, and basic amenities. The bathroom is well-maintained with excellent water pressure. Staff are attentive, especially during a corridor flood incident. While some furnishings and the TV need updates, the hotel’s value and convenience make it ideal for short stays.

Yes the room size was really good. The bathroom was huge. Extra chain was given. There was plenty of space to place our luggage and unpack. It was a good stay.

The only downside was the room did not have any windows. So it was walls in all sides but we have adjusted with that. It was not a major problem since our stay was short of just two nights.
