Reviewed Aug 31, 2026Smiths place had everything we needed in a peaceful, quiet setting. Lots of space, clean and well presented. Milly (the chocolate lab) was a lovely addition to the stay and the hosts were very accommodating to our needs.

The apartment is below the house which does result in a small amount of noise reaching the apartment. If you are a very light sleeper it might be a problem, but the hosts are awesome and do everything they can to make the stay a plesant one.

Reviewed Nov 5, 2025Very clean, spacious and things look new. Bathroom had a bath and shower with nice towels. BBQ and outdoor seating area was nice to have. Board games to play in one of the bedrooms. Dog and cat were lovely company.
There was some noise from the hosts moving upstairs in the morning, didn't bother us as we were up and out early but definitely something to note for future guests. Also the dog and cat will come and say hello and try to come in, so those who may be allergic to animals should keep in mind. We loved them though.

Reviewed Nov 8, 2024Lovely comfortable space, lovely outlook over Taupo and peaceful relaxing area. Undisturbed by family above, easy access, good sense of privacy. Excellent, clear and friendly communication with hosts. Would love to stay again but didn't realise there was no washing machine for laundry so would have to factor that in for the future - had to buy detergent and do a bit of hand washing :)
An outside bin with a closed lid would have been great for storing rubbish over our stay. We didn't feel comfortable leaving it out so made trips to local bins to dispose of.
