Marine Hotel

The room was ready before our check in time, it was clean and a much bigger room than we had originally booked. Breakfast was absolutely beautiful even tho we thought it was going to be like what we were used to which was buffet style but unfortunately wasn't. It was still beautiful tho. Staff were amazing even kept our space for us which she didn't have to.

Buffet style breakfast would have been better. Although our room was lovely it was also very noisy where we were right by reception although it was only one night and slept absolutely fine

Very convenient location, close to the beach, harbour, town centre, and train/bus station, making it a great base for exploring the Devon coastal towns. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was good, with the option of a full English or a more flexible selection. There is also a restaurant on site.

The room was fairly small and basic, though perfectly functional for a short stay. There is evening entertainment, so early/light sleepers should be aware that there can be some noise until around 21:45–22:00.

Budget price stay with tired but comfortable rooms but with staff that couldn’t be more helpful

There was very limited car parking spaces out front and some of the wallpaper and carpets could do with replacing but at same time would stay there again

Great value for money, very friendly welcome and Millie especially was great very friendly very good at all aspects of her job and clearly the guests loved her. And the lady on reception on check out was fantastic and very friendly also.

Beautiful hotel, enjoyed the food, staff were fantastic and had banter. Looked after me and helped my needs and were very understanding. Highly recommend this hotel and their staff. Thank you so much for all your help and roll on october to see you guys again 🫶

The entire breakfast was served at the table. The choice of food was varied and the quality of service in a busy dining room was excellent. The interior decoration in the bedroom and lighting were imaginative and distinctive. Free evening entertainment in the bar was enjoyable.

There was no TV remote in the bedroom on arrival and the replacement remote provided by reception did not work at first. The WiFi was only available in the public areas of the hotel and there was no information explaining this.

It was local. Town centre pretty much round the corner.

Bed very hard, pillows worse, tv was only as big as a monitor, room was very dated. Also No WiFi in the rooms at all. Breakfast was 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 bacon, beans and a tomato. The soap dispensers in the bathroom were both almost empty.

The staff were extremely friendly and very hard working, nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic location for everything we needed.

The noisy lift made me nervous, but everything else was great.

The location of the hotel was great for eating venues and closeness to the sea. The staff were friendly.

The mattress had collapsed and we felt and heard every spring all night long. There had clearly been a roof leak from the water stain and mould on the ceiling above the bed which was confirmed with the dripping sound that could be heard following the downpour that night.it was NOT a comfortable night.

Food was excellent a very high standard. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Room clean and spacious. Good location

I didn't like much Am not satisfied with the room, very congested.

No Wifi, there is no switch boards near the bed. Also the room can't be locked. The door lock is not working at all. Such a poor facility.

The shower disable support rail was rusty as hell and had need to changed months ago. It made me laugh there was a notice stating that the support rail was not meant to take full body weight. The mind boggles

Been coming to the marine hotel for 6 years.Perfect location and even though the rooms are in need of modernization we still love it there, and particularly one of the staff Millie.She works hard and makes other guests welcome and she is funny.Everyone loves her.

Since I have been coming here,the atmosphere has dropped with a lot of the staff.Unfortunatly you can tell and it has got to be sorted out.

Das Hotel ist wie eine ältere Dame. Sehr nett, aber die besten Zeiten sind schon etwas länger her. Das Personal ist freundlich und sehr bemüht. Das Hotel bedürfte allerdings dringend Sanierungsmaßnahmen in vielen Bereichen. Die Dusche war sehr eng und für etwas größere Leute praktisch nicht geeignet. Abends war das Wasser zum Duschen leider nur kalt und in den Zimmern gibt es Zeichen von vergangenen Wasserschäden. Fehlendes WIFI ist zudem in der heutigen Zeit ein No-Go, da mittlerweile auch die vorwiegende ältere Generation mobil ist. Schade, denn das Hotel hätte Potential und Flair…

I am extremely disappointed and upset by the way my nine-year-old daughter and I were treated at breakfast. When we checked in, we were told that breakfast was included and given the serving times, but nobody mentioned that seating was allocated. The following morning, we entered the main breakfast room through a door that had already been left open, so the sign about allocated seating was not visible to us. My daughter chose a table, and a member of staff came over to offer us tea or coffee. Another member of staff then asked for our room number and told us that we had been allocated table 11 in the TV room. We were led away from the busy main dining room, where all the other guests were eating, and taken into a completely separate room. We were seated in a corner by ourselves, and nobody else was seated in that room during the entire time we were having breakfast. As we were being taken there, the member of staff showing us to our table actually said, “You’ve been banished.” This was an astonishing and deeply inappropriate comment, but it also accurately described how the situation felt. When I raised my concerns with the manager, I was told that guests who had been staying since Monday kept the same tables throughout their stay. I have travelled extensively and stayed everywhere from five-star hotels to small, inexpensive B&Bs, and I have never encountered a system in which tables are apparently reserved for an entire stay, regardless of whether those guests even come down for breakfast. The manager also suggested that my daughter and I could sit at the bar, which I did not consider an appropriate alternative when dining with a nine-year-old child. I was then told that if we had been allowed to use another table, we might have been asked to leave halfway through our breakfast. That explanation made no sense and only made the way we were treated feel worse.

Best position in town, on the seafront and close to all facilities. Nice bar/ lounge area with sea and promenade and garden views.

Breakfast was a bit chaotic - sent to the bar area, with low tables. A coach party seemed to dominate the dining room proper.

The hotel was in a great location for us to explore more of Paignton with our small dog Not far from fairy cove which we went on most days The hotel was a very friendly place and very comfortable relaxed atmosphere

We didn't like the breakfast too much was a little slap dash to be honest I had the cooked breakfast first day was ok the next day had poached eggs and toast well I can't really say too much The eggs were very overdone and as for the toast it was rock hard in eatable my husband had the cooked breakfast again and it was stone cold The food let the place down big time

The location of the hotel was good.

The crude humour of entertainer very dated style. Required to sit in the bar for breakfast with a few other tables laid out for solo travellers. It didn't feel comfortable to be waiting to be seated for 5 minutes then escorted to the bar.. Over all it was dated but I really only needed the location.

Stayed before. This hotel is great value for money. Clean. The food is very good. Value for money. Staff are great. However, it is very noisy. Last time we stayed, we were park side the ground floor. The kitchen extraction kicked in at 6am . There was also alot of noise from the park and surrounding area until quite late. This time, we were on the other side. Slightly quieter. Unfortunately, our room was above where the coaches park. This morning, we were woken up at 7am by a coach running it's engine for several minutes before it drove off. Only to return 20 mins later to park up and leave it's engine running again.

Sorry. Mixed these up. Staff are great. Very accommodating. Hotel is clean. Rooms are clean. Food is great value for money. Plentiful, fresh and hot.

The lady who greeted us when we arrived was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy and we had a good sleep.

The hotel is in dire need of redecoration. There are damp stains in the small room behind the restaurant, peeling wallpaper all over, holes in plasterwork, a dirty blind in the bathroom, a dirty bath mat in our shower, shabby furniture.... Our room was in the basement, right at the back of the hotel with a shared patio area and a bin right outside our door. When we went to breakfast we were shown to a small room behind the main restaurant and although the room was quieter than the main restaurant it felt like we were being segregated from the main hotel guests as tables were allocated to room numbers. We had the choice of cereal OR juice which seemed ridiculous as I'd have like both, then a choice of main breakfast. I ordered soft boiled eggs with soldiers and the eggs were over cooked so couldn't eat them and the staff weren't in the room - they would fly in with another order then leave again, so I couldn't send the eggs back. My partner ordered the full English which was very basic and had no taste and was definitely not worth the money. We were extremely disappointed with our stay and would not recommend the hotel. Unfortunately I am unable to upload the photos to show much of what ive described.

Excellent Torbay seafront location, Free parking, good breakfasts with friendly service, evening entertainment, excellent staff. near to bus & railway stations plus steam trains to Kingswier & Dartmouth. Paignton seafront has beach, pier, cinema, family friendly park, harbour with ferries to Torquay & Brixham and nearby town centre with many shops & eateries.

Das Hotel ist mit seinen Gästen in die Jahre gekommen und müsste dringend modernisiert werden. Frühstück ebenfalls nicht empfehlenswert - es war das schlechteste, was wir während dieser Reise in 8 verschiedenen Unterkünften in England serviert bekamen.

Hatten wir extremes Pech mit dem gebuchten Standardzimmer? Souterrain gelegen, neben den Mülltonnen und der Klimalüftung der Küche: gefühlt ein Kellerloch mit nächtlicher Lärmbelastung. Der "Patio" hinter den Mülltonnen spottet jeder Beschreibung. Man konnte uns leider keine Alternative anbieten und nahm unsere verfrühte Abreise mit Verweis auf booking.com als Vertragspartner hin. Das Hotel selbst hat uns weder kulant behandelt noch angemessen entschädigt. Nie wieder.

Breakfast staff were quite rude.- the lad who served asked us what we wanted for breakfast then was huffing and puffing! everything seemed too much trouble. the table cloth hadn't seen a washing machine for a good few weeks and the crockery and cutlery were dirty - I suggest visitors should take some anti bac wipes! Breakfast was basic, nothing to rave about. The hotel is very tired indeed and in desperate need of renovation. There was a thick layer of dust on the light fittings in our room, the shower had quite a lot of mould, the mattress was not the comfiest. The location was good though - on the sea front and quite a quiet location

It was filthy, black grease marks on the headboards, damp on wall, beaten up door, hairs around the toilet, peeling vinyl on a chair and Peeling wallpaper, shaky scary lift which was bashed up inside.

Beautifully set on the beach front 10/10 for sleep booked a family room beds comfy spacious just lake of cleanliness in bathroom and dirty wipes tucked in headboard and under bed. Friendly happy staff had eve entertainment and a good quality breakfast. Every thing needed for weekend away.

Tired and dated, very limited parking for the size of the hotel. Housekeeping not great and sporadic. Tea and coffee in rooms cheap and basic. Staff not helpful when asking advice on where else to park just to be told to park and pay at the meter £2.40 an hour but it’s free after 6pm!

The only drawback was that there wasn’t a proper shower. You had to stand in the bath and hold the shower head over you in our room

No WiFi. Had a room on level 2 and the shower/bath was under a slanted roof. Couldn't stand up in there (6'4"). The shower head on the highest point on the wall was not high enough, uncomfortable showering experience, also you could not set the temperature right as it was a tap connected shower head.

Breakfast was anemic and small. The bacon had what looked like blood on it, eggs are oven baked and it’s not self service. My 14 year old wasn’t impressed and I had yo take him to weatherspoons around the corner before our train .

Very impressed with Marine hotel. A singer/comedian was in the bar, he was very good. Very surprised that a full breakfast was in the price. Lovely food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Has a family run, home from home feel. I have already booked for another stay
