Reviewed Sep 17, 2026Die Bungalows sind zweckmäßig und sehr sauber, Gastgeber Ardy war äußerst hilfsbereit mit de Touren und hat uns sogar Medikamente besorgt. Das Essen war der Hammer,mit das Beste auf Sulawesi und die Küchenfeen so lieb!

Reviewed Sep 4, 2026Sehr freundliches Personal, sehr hilfsbereit und sollte was fehlen wird sich sofort darum gekümmert! Das Essen ist ebenfalls ausgezeichnet und wirklich sehr viel. Es wird auf jeden Fall jeder satt. Die Wildlife touren waren super, wir hatten eine morgens und abends gemacht. Mit der Buchung der Touren waren sie ebenfalls sehr flexibel weil der Park temporär wegen dem Feuer gesperrt war. Die Kommunikation bevor wir ankamen war super und verständlich. Im nahegelegenen Dorf gibt es kleine Supermärkte und eine neu eröffnete Strandbar. Ein Besuch lohnt sich!! Die Unterkunft ist wirklich perfekt wenn man den Nationalpark besuchen möchte!

Reviewed Aug 19, 2026The people: they are passionate and knowledgable about what they do, very friendly and helpful. It’s a small scale accommodation, owned locally with great local personnel. Fandy was our guide for the two wildlife tours we did. He was so passionate and knew exactly the right places to see everything, away from the more crowded places. In the evening, we saw big groups that only have one or two guides and we had 1 guide for 4 people, which was so nice! He is so knowledgeable and really cares for the animals. Support this local business! Great communication, nice people and yummy food! They were also very helpful when it came to accommodating my partner’s food allergies. The room is simple, but has everything you need: a bed, bathroom, airconditioning and a balcony from which you can see a monkey if you’re lucky. Thanks so much!

La route peut être un peu bruyante mais comme partout en Indonésie. Les excursions dans le parc peuvent être un peu trop peuplées en pleine saison mais c'est normal et on peut aussi demander à être en petit groupe ou avoir son propre guide. Sinon rien à signaler

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026Good Tangkoko guide - we arranged and took an evening tour on arrival and an early morning tour the day after. Quality, clean AC rooms and reliable wifi. Excellent evening meal at the on site restaurant - the best we have had in Indonesia on our trip to date. Owners also arranged a return journey car for us at short notice, which was appreciated.

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026Loved our stay at Birding cottage. The location is beautiful with verandah on to the rainforest. The food was absolutely delious and very plentiful. Lovely staff helping with driver, rainforest/bird watching tours and answering our questions. Not too many mozzie or insects to deal with. Mostly very quiet and peaceful.
Would have loved to have mozzie nets and screen on door or windows to leave open of the evening. Ended up having AC on and off during the night.

Dat kan je namelijk niet van alle gidsen zeggen die in park lopen. Kamers waren schoon en comfortabel. Avond eten en ontbijten waren uitgebreid en heel goed.

Moreover the cooking was fresh and nice. Even the visitation at the Tangkoko national park was perfectly organised and our guide Patrick performed superb while spotting the wild animals.

Reviewed May 17, 2026Staying at the Birding Cottage in the rainforest is a special experience, with lush vegetation and unique birds and animals all around. Ardy, the guides, and the rest of the staff are fantastic. The entrance to Tangkoko Nature Reserve is only about 1 km away. We did two rainforest hikes in Tangkoko, and our excellent guides managed to find crested macaques, spectral tarsiers, Sulawesi bear cuscus, and endemic birds, including Sulawesi hornbills and kingfishers. The guides had high-quality telescopes, including phone attachments, which allowed us to get some great videos and photos. The open-air dining and lounge area on the property is very spacious and comfortable. We had all our meals onsite rather than going to any restaurants, and the food was excellent. Our cottage was basic but had comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom, and good air conditioning. The front porch of the cottage is elevated and feels like a tree house in the rainforest.
Guests should expect hot, damp weather, along with all sorts of animal noises and assorted bugs. After all, the property is in a rainforest. The bugs were not a problem in the dining and lounge area, and our insect repellent seemed to do the job on our hikes. Some members of our group of five, all in their 60s, struggled a bit with the heat and humidity. But the minor discomfort was well worth it for the chance to visit such a unique place.

Reviewed May 4, 2026Wir hatten eine richtig tolle Zeit im Tangkoko Birding Cottage. Da wir zum ersten Mal eine Birding Tour gemacht haben, waren wir besonders dankbar für unseren Guide Joakim, er war unglaublich geduldig, wusste extrem viel und hat die Tour spannend und gleichzeitig entspannt gestaltet. Auch die Unterkunft hat uns super gefallen. Unser Zimmer war groß, sauber, hatte eine Klimaanlage und eine gemütliche kleine Terrasse. Und das Essen war auch ein echtes Highlight. Drei Mahlzeiten am Tag, immer abwechslungsreich und richtig lecker, mit mehreren Gerichten pro Mahlzeit. Das gesamte Team inklusive des Besitzers war sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit, sodass wir uns rundum wohlgefühlt haben. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und können einen Aufenthalt hier absolut empfehlen.

Reviewed Apr 23, 2026Alles, die gesamte Anlage ist wunderschön. Man kann super auf den kleinen Balkon entspannen und dabei den schönen Blick in den Tongkoko NP genießen. Das Frühstück und Abendessen wurde jeden Tag frisch von der Eigentümerin zubereitet. Es ist ein familieärer Betrieb und alle sind dort super nett und freundlich. Ausflüge in den Tongkoko NP haben wir direkt über das Hotel gebucht. Es hat alles super geklappt. Auf jeden Fall die Morgen und Abendtour machen. Wir hatten als Guide Patrick der uns super bei beiden Touren durch den NP geführt hat und alles versucht hat uns alles Tiere zu zeigen und hat nebenbei viel über den Park und der dort lebenden Tiere berichtet. Ein super netter und toller Guide. Danke Patrick. Und jederzeit wieder in die Birding Cottage Lodge. Sie ist mehr als 10 Punkte wert. Auch der Transfer von Flughafen hat ohne Probleme über das Hotel geklappt. 🤩🙂👍

Reviewed Apr 11, 2026Heel fijn guesthouse, we genoten van ons verblijf! De mensen zijn zo lief en hebben goed voor ons gezorgd! We deden 3 tours, de ochtend tour, avond tour en een snorkel tour in de buurt van Lembeh. Alle drie goed georganiseerd, en we hebben veel dieren gezien dankzij gids Junly. Hij had een statief en lens bij zich die we met onze telefoon konden gebruiken om fantastische fotos te maken. De cottages zijn comfortabel met goede airco, brandschone badkamer en fijne warme douche. We genoten elke dag van het lekkere en afwisselende eten, op verzoek kookten ze voor ons vegetarisch met veel tempe. Bedacht voor de fijne tijd!!

The cottage is located directly by the entrance to Tangkoko Nationalpark which makes it perfect for tours in there - which can be easily and spontaneously organised with the staff. Ardy, the owner, is very friendly and helpful with whatever came up. The food is amazing!! Cooked and served with love and big smiles by Ardy‘s parents. 🥹

Reviewed Apr 2, 2026The birding cottage was an amazing experience for us: Our tour guide Fandi (sorry if I miswrote) had an amazing eye for the unique animals that can be found in the rain forest. The nocturnal tarsier was jumping around us whereas people on other tours didn’t report similar stories: they were often too quick shining lights and taking photos and not taking their time. The birding cottage crew are also very passionate to talk about their environment, their history and the conservation of the nature. You need to let them know in advance if you want to join lunch or dinner, since they can get the products as fresh as possible that way. This really showed in the tastiness of the food! One of the best we had in North Sulawesi. The rooms are good. Sitting on the terrace with a small creek running past is really relaxing after a morning tour through the forest.

Reviewed Mar 22, 2026This place was amazing. It breathes friendliness, they are super helpful and arrange everything you need. We stayed there for 3 nights and did a full day bird trip, a morning tour and an afternoon tour. We saw everything that we wanted plus much more. We are certain that if Dyno (one of the guides) can't find it, it doesnt exist. Rooms are air-conditioned, food was super delicious (also compliments to the cooks!) and the small village with supermarket and some restaurants are within walking distance. Would recommend this place to everyone if you go to tangkoko.

Reviewed Mar 2, 2026We LOVED staying here. The cottages are spacious, clean and the shower is great. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the stream was also very nice. But even if the cottages are wonderful, what made our stay unforgettable were the people who run the place. We had great meals and three great tours around the park with a very knowledgeable guide. What felt really important to us is that the people at Birding Cottages know so much about the animals and treat the environment with respect and care. Thank you for two amazing days! We hope to stay with you again in the future.

De familie is ontzettend lief, spreken goed Engels en hebben ons super begeleid tijdens wandelingen in de jungle van Tangkoko National Park (Avond en ochtendwandeling). De lodges zijn comfortabel en superschoon en de gemeenschappelijke ruimte is heerlijk! Zeker als het regent zit je droog in de buitenlucht te eten en kijk je toch uit op het prachtige bos tijdens de regengeluiden. Het eten was echt heerlijk, en er werd volledig rekening gehouden met dieetwensen. Daarnaast gaf ik aan een keer een goede ayam ricah ricah te willen eten. Tijdens het avondeten stond het ineens voor onze neus. En wat was dit lekker. 10/10!!

Shower temperature very hard to get right, almost impossible to get the temperature right, so we settled for cold rather than too hot. Also, the air con kept stopping. Staff got it going again each time, but maintenance visit required!

Der Bungalow hatte sogar Air condition und die Dusche war bisher die beste auf unserer Rundreise, warm und ein ordentlicher Strahl. Auch großen Dank an Stefen, unserem Guide im Nationalpark. Er hat uns,mit großem Engagement und viel Geduld, alle interessierten Tiere gezeigt. Toll war sein Miniteleskop, wo er unser Handy eingespannt und so tolle Fotos gemacht hat. Wir würden immer wieder hier übernachten!

Op een wandelingafstand van het visserdorp en supermarktje. De bungalows geven uit op een riviertje en bos. Grote vogels en natuurkenners. Ze doen er alles aan om je verblijf zo comfortable mogelijk te maken. Goed geregelde tochten in het Tangkoko park. Een ochtend en avondwandeling gedaan. Super en zeer toegankelijk.

They organise jungle tours at good prices and with great guides! The rooms are really nice , clean and comfortable ,as the resort is pretty new.We loved every moment spent here, thank you!

Reviewed Oct 24, 2025This property is in an excellent location very close to the National Park. It was spotlessly clean and the owners and staff were super friendly and efficient. Everything was very easy. The dinner and breakfast were both really tasty. I would definitely stay here again.

Reviewed Oct 19, 2025Die Unterkunft hat totale Ruhe verbreitet, was sehr angenehm für uns war. Die Leute dort waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Direkt über die Unterkunft konnte man Touren für den Tangkoko Nationalpark buchen. Der Tourguide war sehr bemüht, uns alle möglichen Tiere des Dschungels zu zeigen.

Reviewed Oct 9, 2025L'accueil et les conseils du personnel et des propriétaires. Tout le monde est gentil et aux petits soins pour les hôtes. Ils organisent les transports et les sorties dans la jungle. Les prix sont raisonnables. La cuisine sur place est délicieuse Le bungalow est très bien placé face à la jungle et très confortable Endroit calme et un peu en retrait par rapport aux autres lodges mais reste à proximité de la plage à pied d'où l'on peut voir les singes noirs et du village. N'hésitez pas à vous promener dans tout le village les gens sont extraordinaires. Ne restez pas juste dans les endroits touristiques. Nous reviendrons au Sulawesi c'est certain !

Reviewed Sep 29, 2025Un lugar excepcional. Las cabañas están equipadas y preparadas para una estancia agradable, sin embargo, lo que hace más especial de este lugar son sus dueños. Ardy y sus padres se encargan de que tengas una estadía de 10, además de los tours realmente especiales para que puedas ver todos los animales posibles del Parque. La comida ha sido sin duda la mejor que hemos tenido en cualquier hotel de Sulawesi, comida casera, con mucho mimo y de calidad. Sin duda repetiría!

Reviewed Sep 6, 2025Great location first off, they also had lots of numbers of guides in the national park which was very useful. The beds were comfortable and clean and shower while not much pressure was hot. The wifi was also decent especially considering the location. There is also lots of nature around the rooms which is really nice.
My one issue was that two of my shirts were lost in the laundry which of course I didn't realise until i left, I would also say that the prices for guides provided by the hotel had a huge premium put on by the hotel, over a 50% higher cost.

Très proche du parc Tangkoko… Les hôtes nous y ont conduit en scooter et nous ont organisé le trip du soir et du lendemain matin. Très bonne cuisine, surtout les pancake du petit déjeuner, un régal.
Attention pour information les paiements sur place sont uniquement acceptés en espèces.

Ardy, le propriétaire et les guides qui travaillent avec lui sont très compétents avec des connaissances poussées de la faune locale. Grâce à eux nous avons pu observer dans d’excellentes conditions calaos, couscous, tarsiers et bien plus. Pour le reste, accueil très sympathique et attentionné, chambres neuves et fonctionnelles, cuisine copieuse.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2025Wir haben hier eine Nacht verbracht, da wir eine Jungle-Tour geplant haben. Die Birding Cottage liegt, so wie alles in dem kleinen Örtchen an der einen Hauptstraße - direkt dahinter beginnt der Regenwald, nur von einem kleinen Bach getrennt. Die Lage ist sehr idyllisch und mitten in der Natur und die kleinen Bungalows haben einen perfekten Charme. Wir wurden von der Familie sehr herzlich empfangen und uns wurden direkt vom Anbieter zwei Jungle-Touren angeboten - wir mussten uns somit um nichts mehr kümmern. Wir wurden sehr umsorgt mit Abendessen, Frühstück und Hilfe bei der Weiterfahrt. Wir würden die Cottage jederzeit wieder besuchen.

Reviewed Aug 20, 2025Ens ha encantat l’estada. El menjar, cuinat al moment, era molt bo i generós. L’habitació i el lavabo eren amplis, nets i còmodes. També hi havia aire condicionat, cosa que s’agraeix molt. El personal ha estat molt amable i atent en tot moment. A més, ha estat molt fàcil organitzar activitats amb ells, com la sortida a la selva. Repetiríem sense dubtar-ho!

Vehicule pour venir nous chercher / ramener à l’aéroport un peu trop petit pour une famille de 4 avec des valises. Celui qui se retrouve au milieu à l’arrière manque de confort

Reviewed Aug 16, 2025Fijne cottages langs het natuurpark. De kamers waren schoon en het bed en de airco goed! We hebben er ook heerlijk gegeten! We hadden een gids via de cottage geregeld. Hij was goed, goed verstaanbaar, erg aardig en kundig. Hij deed ontzettend zijn best om ons alles te laten zien en dat is gelukt!

Reviewed Aug 15, 2025Liebevoll eingerichtetes, 2024 eröffnetes Guesthouse am Rande des Tangkoko Nationalparks - etwas entfernt vom Parkeingang, daher recht ruhig gelegen. Kommunikation mit Ardy (btw ein echter Spezialist für Vogelfotografie) im Vorfeld und auch vor Ort hervorragend - er spricht super Englisch. Warmherziger Empfang, tolles Essen mit riesigen Portionen im gemütlichen, sehr sauberen Wohn-/Essbereich. Touren können vor Ort gebucht werden, sehr gute Guides. Man wird mit dem Auto zum Nationalpark gefahren und dort auch wieder abgeholt.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2025Our room was very comfortable with AC and very soft sheets and pillows. The bathroom was spacious and had extra amenities and the staff were very helpful. They provide huge portions for all meals and we ate very well, the kitchen staff were so lovely and could accommodate vegetarians which was appreciated. It was a nice touch having access to free cold and hot filtered water in the kitchen area.
The only issue we had was that the price for the tours are per person rather than per guide. We were told that the guides were busy so we needed to share a guide with another couple for the day tour but that the price remained the same. It doesn’t seem fair that a couple are paying 500k for one guide and a group of 4 are paying 1mil for 1 guide? This means that tours could become expensive for families or small groups travelling together. We did ask about lowering the price but were told this was not possible which was disappointing, we have taken many wildlife tours across Indonesia and this is the first time the price is charged per person and not per guide. Our tour guide was good and we got to see a lot of wildlife but he did forget the tripod for the scope in the evening tour which was a shame.

Reviewed Jun 30, 2025The place is very beautiful! The room is very clean and nice, the view is wonderful. A very comfortable stay with fantastic homemade breakfast, and dinner upon order. Plentiful and extremely tasty! Beer and soju available:) Owners are very easy to communicate, helpful and cool people, would love to stay there again. Rented a motorcycle there and went to paal beach and other spots, that are close and easy to reach. Had an impressive national park tour organised be the property. Highly recommended!!!! Thank you for everything!

Room is moderate size, comfortable, with modern amenities like hot water and AC (though they do turn these off the following day before checkout). Ardy arrange guides for evening and morning walks at Tangkoko with very good guides, reasonable prices. I would stay here again if visiting area for birdwatching.
