A gem.Tucked away .Mountains in the distance, dam around the corner and Montagu a short drive away .Etienne was amazing, thoughtful and accommodating .We have already booked our return .Highly recommended

We stayed one night on Ludicks Farm on our way to Cape Town....and it was absolutely worth it! The ostrich farm itself is already one reason for a stop, but the views make it so much more worth it. The little villas are comfortable and decorated with taste, including some beautiful paintings. The fireplace outside caters for the extra countryside atmosphere. Etienne is a great host, clearly loves the place and takes very good care of the villas. After a delicious breakfast catered for at request, he showed us around the farm while explaining the various expects of farming the ostriches. We all greatly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was beautifully decorated and was very comfortable. We loved the hot tub.

Secluded and a great place to relax ahead of the long flight home. Lovely amenities and pool. Host was really helpful and breakfast service very good (loved homemade Jam)

Location excellent but the team, especially the manager, provided amazing support. The home cooked food was just perfect and very tasty.

We loved staying at Ludicks Farm hosted by Etienne (and the ostriches!) The cottage was perfect for us as family of 4, we enjoyed having the hot tub on for sundowners alongside the gorgeous views for the rest of the day. A cooked breakfast was served by Etienne (for a little bit of an extra cost) which was welcomed. We enjoyed the proximity to Montagu too

While the farm itself is lovely and situated in a wonderfully remote, lesser-known area of South Africa that I personally love and value, the booking experience was marred by misrepresentation. The issues: Misleading imagery: When booking, the gallery primarily featured the main farmhouse and pool. I was under the firm impression that this was the unit I was securing. Instead, we were placed in a two-bedroom cottage without a pool or the views promised in the initial advertisement. Admission of fault: To the host's credit, they admitted during our discussion that the photos had been changed recently due to similar feedback from other guests. This confirms that the listing at the time of booking would be considered misleading. Pricing mismatch: As a managing director of a well known international tour operating business for ten years, I am well-versed in global pricing structures. The rates charged for the cottage do not align with the product offered, its remote location, or the lack of "prime" views. Even for the international market, the value proposition remains questionable (eg Boschendal cottage is priced similar: prime location / top tourist spot, incredible facilities. The feedback: I assumed a partial compensation to reflect the difference between the advertised "farmhouse experience" and the actual cottage stay. The host explained that their rates are geared toward international guests and were set by an external consultant. Conclusion: In my extensive travel experience, there is a mismatch between expectation and reality. For the price paid, the farmhouse would have been fair; for the cottage, it was overpriced. I would strongly encourage the owners to reconsider their pricing strategy—perhaps by implementing a tiered rate card for local versus international guests—and to ensure their marketing material is honest about which specific unit a guest is paying for.

The location is great with beautiful views of the valley and mountains. The two different pools with the addition of a third heated pool are absolutely perfect. The bedrooms are perfect with on-suites for each room and the aircons throughout the house made the very warm days outside so much more comfortable. You are provided with towels and bathrobes, and you can request for daily cleaning as well. The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances you would need with a gas stove and oven that works perfectly, and the house has a great sound system as well. The host was also great with quick responses. The farm is close enough to Montagu and Barrydale for shopping needs but far enough for calm. There are lots of activities to do if you want to like running or hiking to the big dam, hiking the mountains or visiting wine farms in the area.

Everything was rather perfect. The middle rooms shower is a bit blocked and can be looked at but the rest was perfectly fine with everything you would need.

Beautiful decor and great for entertaining. Large pool and highly recommend for a larger group. Etienne is a great host and one can request extras like a braai for your group. A dam is also 10min away so a nice trip out for a few hours.

This is a working farm. Not as remote as expected however the pool and entertaining area is private and has beautiful views of the mountains.

Etienne was a fantastic host. Friendly, accomodating and helpful and catered to our every need. We stayed in the Standard Cottage but this too exceeded expectations. All and all a fantastic getaway and I can highly recommend this very peaceful, quiet and tranquil experience.

The house is just wonderful situated. Nice views, nice privacy and everything you need for a super relaxed stay. Swimming pool, hot tub, braai and a fantastic Dam in your backyard. And Etienne and his wife went out of there way to even arrange braai and a Christmas lunch for us, let alone showing us the Dam! Amazing!

I can say alot about the place. But all I need to say to summarize the stay is AMAZING.

I highly recommend this accomodation! A comfortable spacious cottage, perfect location, very nice owner who helps you with everything. You can also book gamedrives and winetours via him. Ostriches in the backyard, and an amazing star heaven at night you can enjoy from the hottub. This really is a hidden gem!!

Herzlicher Empfang, auch immer wieder netter Kontakt, für alles wurde mitgedacht (Holz für den Hot Tube, das Frühstück wurde frisch gemacht und ins Cottage gebracht und war MEGA gut), tolle, neue Einrichtung, modern, blitzsauber, gemütlich. Bequeme Betten, Wasserdruck top, Wifi schnell und super, hübsche Details in den Zimmern. Der Hot Tube ist klasse, wir waren natürlich drin, klappt auch alles easy. Grill ist schon und man ist auf dem tollen Gelände so ruhig und für sich. Wir würden sofort wiederkommen, danke.

Es gibt rein gar nichts, das einem hier nicht hätte gefallen können... Man sollte sich nur bewusst machen, man ist in der freien Natur. Wir hatten in Wohn- und Schlafzimmer mehrmals größere Insekten, Käfer, Ameisen, aber auch recht große Spinnen und eine Maus.

The location was just perfect for a quick break away from home (Cape Town). The cottage was clean and had everything you would require. The beds were very comfortable.

The modern facilities and stunning views. Our host, Etienne, was superb and went more than the extra mile to make our stay memorable. We also enjoyed the beautiful mountain views from the hot tub.

The house is lovely. The kitchen is well equipped and great for cooking for large groups. The rooms are comfy as are the beds and pillows. I would say the main feature of the outside is the outside area entertainment area. If the weather is in your favour the pool, braai and hot tub are superb.

We were a group of 7, which the property caters for, however the weather wasn't great and there is not enough room to be together indoors. There isn't a dining room table so you can't eat together. The property is great, however the accommodation is on a thoroughfare to the state dam on their property, so every now and then you get random people driving past the accommodation, which they can see into.

We are already making plans to go back. From the moment we booked until we checked out, everything was seamless, facilitated by excellent communication from Etienne, who was a brilliant host. We got there in the evening and arrived at a beautiful and homely cottage. Etienne had started the fire and also had the air-conditioners running in all the rooms. Throughout our stay, he was attentive. The cottage is modern and equipped with everything one could need for a self-catering stay. I loved the fact that there was no cellphone coverage, which allowed me to really disconnect. It was great not to hear the sound of a ringing cellphone for a few days. There is good wifi, though, if one needs to be connected to the outside world. Did I mention the fluffy gowns?

We truly enjoyed our stay, but there are a couple of what I hope are constructive comments. Ludick's is a working farm, and there was some construction work not too far from our cottage. Construction workers are not the quiet type, but this didn't bother us too much because they didn't start working at the crack of dawn. However, I washesitant to use the hot tub because it is within full view of passersby. It would be a good idea to erect a privacy screen. Electric blankets would be nice, as well as optional mattress toppers for those who don't prefer a firm bed.

The house itself is fantastic and well furnished and fitted. Great location and views.

Absolute luxurious accommodation in beautiful setting on working farm

The chalet was very well equipped and neat, the beds were lovely and the shower was great. The braai area is well situated, and the wood provided was perfect. We followed the host's suggestion and drove to Poortjieskloofdam, which was spectacular late afternoon!

Doors/curtains is needed for privacy in the bedrooms!

Great location for a peaceful family retreat. Only done 1 night. Will definitely make this a return accommodation back to CPT. Etienne absolute great host. The home is well equipped with modern finishes. Wouldn't need to go anywhere. Has everything you need.

This little gem is perfectly situated for a few nights stay when travelling the garden route. It’s very comfortable has everything you need and the bonus is the wood heated hot tub where you can relax with a glass of wine and star gaze.

The house is neat and well-built. Kitchen is well equipped and a good breakfast was served.

The house is located next to a dirt road leading to a local dam, so there a few cars and people passing by. Farm workers live not far from the house. The hot tub is uncovered and situated near the road, making it visible to the public. The view is partially obstructed by a shed that houses a tractor.

Luddick's farm is an amazing stay. The location was perfect to get away from Cape Town and escape the winter storms that we have recently had their. The property is beautifully maintained. Etienne, the manager was extremely communicative and went out of his way to help with any and all questions and queries. I would highly recommend Ludick's farm for a relaxing family getaway or a stay of up to 8 adults who would all be very comfortably accommodated

I would hesitate to say anything here because the stay was great. They could do with a larger braai grid if there was a large number of adults and a firepit would be the absolute cherry on the cake.

Our family weekend away was a delightful escape from the everyday hustle. Nestled in a picturesque farm setting, the property exuded charm and tranquillity. The rooms were impeccably clean, stylishly decorated, modern and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The highlight, however, was the exceptional hospitality. Etienne, the host, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive service. Ludiks Farm is a blend of comfort, elegance, and personalized care. I highly recommend this place for families and group getaways.

There is not much that we did not enjoy, but I would have enjoyed a softer pillow; however, this is a personal preference.

Nature was the highlight. The ease of everything was amazing! The hut tub was the magic!

The wifi was not ideal however as much as it was challenging it was also wonderful to disconnect.

The views are beautiful, the house has everything that one could need. It really is a wonderful place to go for a quiet get away. We loved our stay here!

The hot tub takes a very long time to heat so the children didn't get to really use it. They are looking at improving the heating system though so I am sure this will change soon.

Beautiful, well equipped house in the Karoo veld. The perfect weekend breakaway for a big family or group of friends. Etienne was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed.

Very well appointed chalet. Everything works & spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful host and beautiful Langeberg views. Any issue is sorted out straight away. We loved our stay!

The bed was too firm for us. But other people might prefer it. Beds are a personal choice.
