Inside a lot of dust and animal fur behind the couch not good if you have allergies

The peace and quiet, very welcoming and friendly border collie.

There was absolutely nothing i did not like about the cottage.

Very private and tranquil, yet only a few minutes away from city centre. Historic cottage carefully restored with all mod cons.

Location suited us perfectly as we were just around the corner from family & the function venue. Lovely walk through to the school & cemetery

The location was great and when we finally got to stay at Charming Country Cottage we loved it and wished we had been there for the 3 nights we had booked and paid for

We booked for 3 nights and then found out there was a double booking for the first 2 so had to stay at the other much cheaper accommodation on the same property for 2 nights and then move.

Super cute cottage on a gorgeous property, I only wish we stayed longer than 1 night! Has everything you need, highlights were the outdoor bath and that it’s dog friendly.

Very warm, vary private. Nice dogs, great hosts.

Being woken up at 2am by a screaming possum...but hey, that's part of staying in the countryside!!

Everything, it was a home away from home. We immediately felt relaxed. Which was needed after 30 hours of travelling.

We stayed in the Ruru cottage & it was absolutely beautiful. Loved the outdoor bath & the character of the place. The energy was so relaxing & Fi the host was such a beautiful person.

We had a lovely stay in a very comfortable home surrounded by wonderful native bush. Totally recommend a visit our host was very welcoming and what an artist!

Loved everything about the place, beautiful spot. Definitely staying here everytime we come to Hamilton.

It feels like you're in the middle of the forest! Definitely don't miss the outdoor bath, that was very nice. Fi was very welcoming and had great recommendations for trips. We loved the dogs as well, such sweethearts!

The kitchen utensils weren't very clean. We discovered that the dishwasher only works well when you rinse everything thoroughly beforehand, so that might be the cause. Also, the shelves with the glasses could use some dusting. But it was a very small thing, we loved the place!

There were quite a few cobwebs but it’s in the country so to be expected.

To be honest quite disappointing. The spa in the advertising photos did not come with the two bedroom house we rented but was part of the main house and not accessible for us as they had family staying. No TV channels available and the house looked as if it had not been cleaned properly for months and was looking quite run down.

The location was lovely and the host very friendly and welcoming. A bonus was two beautiful friendly border collies that greeted us and came to visit us in the cottage.

The cottage was very dusty and could have been cleaner.

Spider webs could have been attended to, there were no long term residents, but perhaps a few from the week,

Absolutely loooooved the charm of this property. There is just character in every corner. Our favourite part was the outdoor bath overlooking the native.

Absolutely nothing not to like about it. We would have loved to stay multiple nights.

Location - magical. Breakfast - we didn't get one, we had to leave early. I'm not sure breakfast was included though.

I can't think of anything, except perhaps a surcharge (extra $30) for a god was not necessary. But then again - not all dogs are well behaved like ours. So maybe it makes sense.

The outdoor space with the hot bath and lovely well decorated homely space inside. Dog friendly walks nearby and amazing countryside peaceful serenity environment.

Incredible experience for a small whanau. Celebrated our babies first birthday in this serene, quaint, and very sweet cottage, and lolled about in the outdoor bath during the evening listening to ruru in the surrounding bush. Enjoyed learning of its history and greeting the animals in the morning with the children. Highly recommend

Nice secluded area, well maintained and good info on the area and history of the building! We enjoyed the utilities and had all the necessary essentials for a comfortable stay.

We had to take our dogs home due to owner having dogs on property which we were unaware of and in best interest. Our dogs had to remain inside or on leads as the owners dogs roamed the property and we were anxious as to whether a fight would break out. If this could be mentioned in description for future reference and bookies to be aware 🙂

A very clean cozy and warm cottage. I stayed with two kids and the area surrounding the house was great for the kids and our dog to explore.

Such a beautiful little cottage in a nice quiet location, greeted both mornings by two very lovely doggos

My partner and I booked this little cottage for a weekend away. The hosts directions and access instructions were easy to follow. Although the cottage is close to the hosts home, it is still very private. Bed was firm but very comfortable. Surrounded by trees and shrubs, the outdoor bath was a highlight along with feeding the eels down at the bridge and taking a night walk to see glow woems. Overall this was a nice and relaxing place to stay and exactly what we were looking for. Thankyou Fiona.

The only thing that I could suggest is for people staying more than 1 night, that you bring toilet paper as we had to shoot to town to get some more.

How cozy it was, hidden away from the hustle bustle of the city was what we loved.

Taking into account it is a very old cottage it could have been a lot cleaner and offered a few more things. Like an outside rubbish bin. Better kitchen sink cleaning gear and a couple if extra towels and a spare toilet roll. Etc

Everything. This was the prefect place to relax, enjoy some nature and get some great quality sleep. The bed was extremely comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and the gardens were gorgeous.

Beautiful little country cottage. Well set out with very comfortable amenities.

It was very wet so we couldn’t make use of the only decent sized table which is outside on an uncovered deck

Very peaceful, lovely bed linens, private and cosy.

Unfortunately, the bed was exceptionally hard which meant we both tossed and turned all night.

Enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Enjoyed relaxing in the bath outside surrounded by nature. A lovely place to stop and unwind after travelling. Wonderful communication. Thank you

So close to Hamilton but so quiet and relaxing. This is a little gem and I would definitely stay again.

It was a beautiful cosy cottage with a heart warming history. I loved that I was able to stay there with my dog. I will definitely be booking again.
