Villa Giethoorn Steenwyck

Het hotel lag op een perfecte locatie voor ons. We hebben heerlijk geslapen, want de bedden lagen lekker. De badkamer was prima en verder was er veel opbergruimte voor je spullen. Er was ook een koelkast aanwezig.

Uitstraling van het pand en de kamer is echt heel mooi. Locatie is oké. Wij hadden een kamer aan de weg, en dat is altijd gehorig.

Het staat te koop en dat gevoel kreeg wel meteen door het ontvangst. Deze was onprofessioneel. Het bed was erg krakerig en instabiel en het matras was niet voor mijn partner en mij. De douche werd niet warm, en er was geen ontbijt beschikbaar. De buitenzwembad zag er super mooi uit, maar was niet toegankelijk. De toegang tot de gehele achtertuin was gebarricadeerd.

The villa is charming! It is so beautiful, old-styled in a really cool way, very well taken care of, and maintained with love. It has all facilities that one would need for a comfortable stay. The location is very convenient - next to the station, lots of shops, and restaurants. The atmosphere of the villa and the surroundings was pleasant and calming

A bit of a drawback was the toilet outside my room, but for a short stay, that wasn't a problem

The hosts were very nice and helpful during our stay. We also enjoyed the AC during the hot days! Lovely location very close to the centre of the city! The interior design was lovely and had an antique feel.

Het is echt een schitterende locatie en een prachtig herenhuis met authentieke elementen.

Hoewel de bedden prachtig zijn, zijn ze voor ons net iets te zacht. Maar echt, het is zondermeer een aanrader.

Sehr liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer. Sehr sauber. Sehr nettes Personal.

Ein Badezimmer (groß und sauber) für 3 Doppelzimmer. War für uns kein Problem, da wir sehr gut miteinander bekannt waren. Muss man aber wissen.

staff was very unhelpful accommodation was on third floor up very steep stairs and my grand daughter and her girl friend were unable to carry suitcases up the stairs so were forced to leave their gear in the office. never heard of something like that!!!!!!

Prachtige oude villa met mooie details, met smaak ingericht.

(eigen) toilet op de gang, handzeep was op. Bed is vrij smal, kort, en vooral érg hoog. Voor kleine mensen en minder soepele mensen kan dit een probleem zijn, er was geen opstapje. Wel koffieapparaat en theekoker op de kamer, maar met 1 zakje lemon en 1 zakje dropthee...

Location a reasonable walk to lovely downtown. Very nice breakfast, although served in room, so not as comfortable as it might have been.

Very unenthusiastic greeting on arrival. Got a lack-of-interest-in-hosting vibe. "private bathroom" was down the hall and half a flight of stairs - would be been ok but for the smell. not well ventilated and equipped with a toilet best not described here. Finally - BEWARE!! Shortly after we booked we got a message saying sorry but they don't take credit cards so please bring cash to pay upon arrival. Stupidly we did that - and then found out after we got home they had indeed already received the $$ from booking. So we have paid twice. I asked the hotel for a copy of the receipt for what we had paid in cash (258 euros) and after going on vacation themselves, delaying, and "forgetting" to respond they decided to claim we had not paid them and just kept our money. Booking.com has been useless - no response to my customer service request.

Nous avons apprécié la propreté de la chambre ainsi que la décoration atypique, même si ce n’est pas forcément notre style.

À notre arrivée, l’accueil a été très décevant : froid, impersonnel, sans aucun échange ni conseil sur les activités alentours. Nous n’avons même pas été accompagnés pour découvrir la chambre, ce qui est surprenant dans une chambre d’hôtes censée offrir une expérience chaleureuse et personnalisée. L’établissement donne davantage l’impression d’un hôtel qu’une véritable maison d’hôtes. Il n’y a aucun espace commun où se retrouver ou profiter de l’extérieur, ne serait-ce que pour prendre un café, ce qui enlève beaucoup de charme et de convivialité au séjour. La literie a également été un gros point négatif. Le lit principal était beaucoup trop mou, rendant le sommeil inconfortable. Nous étions trois, et la troisième personne a dû dormir sur un petit lit d’appoint sans oreiller adapté. Le seul oreiller disponible provenait du dossier du lit d’appoint, ce qui était loin d’être pratique et confortable. Autre déception : les sanitaires. WC et douche étaient communs, alors que la description laissait clairement entendre que la salle de bain était privative. Si les deux autres chambres avaient été occupées, cela aurait signifié partager un seul WC, situé dans la salle de bain, avec potentiellement sept personnes. Heureusement pour nous, ce n’était pas le cas, mais la situation reste trompeuse et peu agréable. Enfin, la chambre était mal insonorisée et donnait directement sur une rue passante. Entre le manque d’isolation et le bruit extérieur, la nuit a été difficile.

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön, sauber und hat eine sehr gute Lage. Sie befindet sich in der Nähe zu allem, was wichtig ist. Es gibt auch gute kostenlose, eigene Parkplätze. Auch mehrere Supermärkte sind zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Der Vermieter war sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Als Gast wird man hier sehr gut behandelt, alle Absprachen wurden korrekt eingehalten. Die Ausstattung der Unterkunft ist top. Es gibt eine Kaffeemaschine und frische Bettwäsche und Handtücher. Die Betten sind bequem und sauber. Wir können die Unterkunft für jeden, ob für einen Urlaub oder für eine Geschäftsreise bestens weiterempfehlen.

Geweldige inrichting. Heel sfeervol en niet te vergeten een heerlijk bed.

Toch het delen van de badkamer ookal wisten we dat bij het boeken. Volgende x boeken we graag de andere kamer.

De inrichting van het hotel, mooie plek dichtbij het centrum en het heerlijke ontbijt.

Als je niet goed kan traplopen, is dit hotel wat minder, want er is geen lift.

A beautiful historic building with wonderful hosts. They kindly took care of our breakfast taking into account our several food allergies. Extremely kind host: thanks to him we visited the local villa museum that was very interesting. A very pleasant stay

The share toilet was a bit unexpected but it was spotless and it worked out well

Friendly host and large room with a nice bed. Breakfast was fine and neatly arranged.

Had not noticed the shared-bathroom detail (our mistake), but it was not a problem. Bathroom was cold; migt be inconvenient during a winterstay.

The house was very interesting, with an old school style, yet very confortable. The room was spacious with a very big bed, perfect for 2 people. It had a coffe machine in the room with some free coffee, which was very pleasant. Everything was clean and tidy.

There is nothing that really needs improvement. Nevertheless, some small things can be mention, but they were not an issue. We had to share the bathroom, which was not really a problem for us, but could be to other people. The rooms might not have the best sound proof, but it was not a problem. The pillows were a bit too big in height.

Its not noise isolated room. Our voice from the room can reach everywhere. In the app I choose a room with two bed (large and small bed), but only got one large bed. They charge you extra more for baby.

Villa Steenwyck Giethoorn located very near to city center of Steenwijk. The ambience of hotel is very nice and its one of the memorable one. Rooms were very nice, neat & clean. I strongly recommend the best place to stay if in the planning to be in Steenwijk.

The building itself is very near perfectly decorated and the staff is very warm and friendly. The beds were nice, the rooms were sound proof, and each room had a historical theme. I really loved this place.

The bathroom is shared and, significantly, not heated. Having to run across the hall repeatedly at night to use the ice cold toilet diminished the experience a great deal. Also there was a smell of cigarette smoke. I don't know whether it was another patron or the staff, but it persisted throughout the night. I was unable to find anyone to take my key and check me out in a timely manner, so I just abandoned the key at the front desk.

I enjoyed the old school interior, but I was not clear about booking the room without the private bathroom which caused the stay not that satisfying for me. Also, they are short for employees.

Unique experience.

Lovely house, very beautiful vintage decorated rooms, lovely cozy feeling, very comfortable beds, like marshmellows, lovely host.And a delicious breakfast, totally recommend it. Also very beautiful surroundings, 10 minutes walk to the city center, museums and a nice 11 minutes bus ride from the city center (bus 70) to old Giethoorn location.There you can walk along the beautiful canal, admire the beautiful houses, visit the Oude Museum and eat a tasty meal at one of the restaurants along the canal route.You can also ride a boat if you like.Overall, we had a perfect weekend and perfect sunny weather on Saturday.Thank you for the memories 🙂

The house was super well-decorated, clean, new, and cozy! Our room was super traditional and beautiful!

Beautiful early 20th century villa (former nurses insititute). Spacious high-ceilinged room with four poster bed. Friendly reception. Eclectic bric-a-brac furniture. Cannot comment on the breakfast as we had to leave very early.

Bed in our room was extremely high (maybe from adding a (comfortable) box-spring mattress. Suggest lowering bed legs, if possible. The bath room has a separate exit door. Opening this door knocked down a vase on a pedestal in the hallway. Suggest permanently locking this door, as it serves no useful purpose.

The decoration of the house is really nice and classic. We stayed at a triple room and there is a bed for kid. The property is really clean and convenient! The owner is super nice to pick us up at the gas station because some of the roads are blocked! He is so warm hearted! We hope to stay at the same place next time! Great sleep with the comfortable mattress!

Patrick and Rick were amazing hosts. We had an air conditioned room that was ready for us when we arrived and breakfast was wonderful! I highly recommend this place.

I like the old rustic appeal of the house, the old charm. Overall, we loved our stay.

Since it is an old house so there will be some creaking noise on floor, even on the bed. The toilet is separate from the room, which they could have plan it when they renovated the bathroom. The minibar door opens the opposite way with the door of the cupboard.

The owners were so kind and welcoming. Everything was clean and well decorated.

I forgot to check if the rooms have their bathroom and it was my first shared bathroom experience. Even though, the bathroom was really clean, don't forget your flip flops!

Very nicely designed rooms and house by fresh owners Rick and Patrick. Everything was very tidy and we had a lovely stay. Easy access to the city.

It was excellent except for the fact that cigarette smoke was spread through the entire Villa. As a single traveller I didn't mind that much (that's why 8/10) but I would if I were there with my whole family.

We visited this little charming Hotel for a short break. We really were surprised with how much attention to detail this Villa was eqipped. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and the hosts were just excellent. We only can recommend this place and we definately would choose this place agan. Thank you for your hospitality.
