The house was great for several couples on a weekend away. The host had left a lovely plate of scones, jam and cream to welcome us which was a lovely extra.

Noise from upstairs floorboards was rather extreme - could do with being a bit better insulated for noise.

Låg väldigt nära vägen, trafiken störde. Det fanns en fuktig källardoft i lägenheten. Troligen var lägenheten på övre våningen bättre i det avseendet.

晚上开灯会有很多小虫子，小心它们飞进来。

We loved our stay here at Evergreen Escape! Even though it was close to the road, it felt like we were in a tropical rainforest! The beds were so comfy and it was spacious and private.

If you need no noise when trying to sleep, it may be hard if you are in the front room as there are cars zooming through. However, it wasn’t bad at all at night as less people are driving!

Siamo arrivati in una giornata fredda e piovosa. La signora ci ha lasciato la luce accesa e due panini di burro e marmellata per colazione. La cucina era super accessoriata, bagno spazioso e pulito. Letto comodo.

What a great spot! Drove past it so many times and finally stayed a night! Easy communication with host, very helpful, friendly (She even made some scones for us. Very much appreciated!) We arrived late and it was not a problem. Would stay there again and will recommend it for sure!

Layout was very unusual .. bed in living room and bathroom beside kitchen was very strange. Location was handy for Hokitika but beside a very noisy road.

It was very homely, very private. Loved the scones. The layout is a bit odd. Lovely outdoor spaces.

Needed a drier. Not walking distance to town. The toliet/kitchen were too close together and not much privacy.

Perfect for our overnight stop. Close to beach for sunset. Cosy, clean facilities with great information provided- and of course the chocolate brownies on arrival

More traffic noise overnight than I expected but that’s not within control of the hosts

We absolutely loved our stay. Beds were so comfy and the kitchen was well equipped, everything labelled to make everything easy to find. Scones on arrival were a lovely gesture. Being able to bring our very well behaved fur baby was so awesome, thank you Kerry and Neil for everything, we will definitely be back again.

The hospitality offered at this property is a cut above. Very homely and spacious but what makes it special are the sweet touches like home-baked scones with jam and cream waiting in the fridge for you on arrival, hot chocolate and marshmallows and eggs and butter plus a few extra handy condiments that make for hassle free self-catering in the well-provisioned (and well-labelled) kitchen. Easy to locate, ample parking and conveniently located to Hokitika township; while it may not have your five star views from your room, it makes up for it in the very welcoming hospitality.

A great location right on the beach, though we were unlucky with the weather for our stay. Well set up for self-contained catering and plenty of room for a small family, with washing machine as well. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful, though I didn’t meet in person.

The rooms were homely and clean and we all felt relaxed.

So much to love, the scones on arrival were devine, the hosts are thoughtful and friendly, the accommodation was very clean and tidy... such a lovely place to stay and so much to do.

Lovely spacious apartment. Beautifully decorated with great quirky touches. Scones and marshmallows were a lovely touch and thought the outside baths were brilliant although we didn't get a chance to try them out. Great outdoor space to sit out and watch the sunset. Place was a great base to explore Hokitika and the glow worm dell. Kerry and Neil were great hosts and it was good to meet them too.

Very close to main road but not unexpected having read the reviews. Didn't prove to be a problem as chose a bedroom on the quieter side.

Lovely, spacious house. Every room is nicely decorated. Large dining and living area. Kind hosts offered treats. Located close to the town, the beach and a glow worm dell.

A bit too close to the highway so it gets loud early in the morning.

Didn’t like the closeness to the main road. The property needs some insulation between ground accommodation and the upper accommodation. Kerry (owner) was very helpful.

Awesome place. Accident my husband took the keys but have posted back. We got lovely home baking and loved it. Omg yummy. And wad pet friendly love it 😀

The bed was very comfy and the flat was very spacious. lots of nice little touches like a fire pit and complimentary marshmallows. Well equipped kitchen. Close enough to towns and very close to the glo worm place. Loved the outdoor bath.

It is off the main highway so there was a little road noise, nothing too bad on our stay. It is also a downstairs flat so depending on who is staying above you it might be noisy. We did not have a problem on our stay though.

The apartment was very cosy and comfortable. So clean and the Banana cake was a nice personal touch. The outdoor bath tubs are brilliant under the stars in a little hut!!!

This is not a sparkly new property but it was cosy and homey with a huge bed. The property gave us plenty of space to spread out and we enjoyed being able to cook a meal. The home made herb bread on arrival was welcome as we were starving. Definitely loved the fact that we were recommended to go see the glow worm dell which was amazing! We met the owners as we were leaving and had a great chat!

The property was difficult to find, particularly in the dark. There was some noise from the road.

We cooked our own breakfasts. Being outside the main township was excellent as the property was quiet and relaxing.

Just a helpful idea - Maybe a waist level shelf or a small table in the bathroom to leave toilet bag on or as a place to spread out toiletries . A chair to put clothes on while showering

Great location for our needs that particular weekend as attended market close by. Lovely room and liked the privacy.

Only things I would suggest changing are the hot bed sheets that were on and I feel the outdoor bath area could be made more appealing by adding more plants or tidying up abit (cool little spot for it tho).

1 bed was in the living room. The bathroom opened into the kitchen. Fleece sheets are not a good choice

Cute apartment with everything you need. Possibly the comfiest bed ever! Brilliant owners are really responsive.

It has 2 separate bedrooms but the overall layout doesnt work. The 2 bedrooms is the only reason i booked it. The bedrooms though are connected so you have to walk thru one to get to the other. It was very dated but clean - hosts left eggs, scones and choc bars which was nice. Bed in front room comfy. Good contact from host via email. They dont live onsite. They answered a query we had straightaway and popped in to make sure we found the room etc. it does have all amenities you need.

This place is very old and ramshackle. Single glaze windows right next to busy 80 kmh road - zero sleep. If you are downstairs you will hear upstairs tenants moving around - floorboards and joists creaked very badly. I think this motel is mainlyrented to workers who get up early and are not quiet. Upstairs man was awake at 4am stomping. TV is only smart (no freeview aerial - if there is - not mentioned in compendium) and after 5 pm the internet is so slow you cant watch TV. Location is about a km out of hoki too far to walk into town. Bathroom was average but clean. Old sliding door to it right next to kitchen and no sound proofing so ‘sounds’ could clearly be heard. It is cheap at the 143 a night non refund but i would rather pay a bit more to get sleep and watch some TV in the township. It was just me and a mate for one night - i would have checked out if booked for more than one. For a bunch of lads - could sleep 3 in there with a room each and one night and not fussy about slow wifi then 👍. Maybe a family on a very tight budget might stay. There is zero view of beach from downstairs. Average garden area to look at. They advertise a firepit but pretty sure if you lit it the upstairs workers and others would not be happy. Also its a stones throw from sewage ponds. Sorry wont be back. When i booked only 4 reviews and glowing rating. We travel a lot. This is not close to 9/10. Photos make it look better than reality im sorry. Upstairs probably better as you wont hear the incessant stomping/creaking and have sea view to compensate.
