Reviewed Aug 31, 2026The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need and very well geared for a trip with dogs. The enclosed garden means your dogs are safe to explore and hikes around the farm are picturesque and peaceful. The host even kindly made a plan for us to be able to watch the SA vs New Zealand rugby game by providing wifi. And the outdoor bathroom/shower is AWESOME!
Very little. It was a perfect trip.

Reviewed Jul 14, 2026A lovely farmhouse tucked away far from the city.
I’m so glad we chose this beautiful place.
Before we arrived, we were told there would be a gravel road leading to the farm. It really wasn’t bad at all—we drove a small car and had no issues.
Sarel and Sannelie are some of the kindest hosts we’ve ever met. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and showed us to our lovely, cosy farmhouse, nestled among vast farmland and surrounded by pine trees.
The views? Spectacular!
Once we had settled in, we lit the outdoor fire and got the welcoming Dover stove going. It was very cold, and the crackling fire made the house wonderfully warm and cosy.
There’s no Wi-Fi or TV, but that’s exactly why we came. We spent our evenings playing cards and Monopoly, and browsing through the books in the house. It was the perfect opportunity to disconnect and enjoy each other’s company.
The kids loved sitting around the fire, making s’mores and trying to keep warm.
The donkey geyser kept the water hot long enough for our family of five to each enjoy a lovely, hot shower.
The peace and quiet alone are worth the drive. We loved seeing cows grazing, donkeys wandering around the farm, and at night… the sky came alive with countless stars. It’s the kind of place that reminds you how beautiful nature really is.
There’s also a charming outdoor bathroom that is fully functional. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to enjoy an outdoor shower during the warmer months.
We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and already looking forward to our next visit. We can’t wait to book another stay here.
the view - great fireplace / stove - no traffic, quietness - hospitality was super / great hosts - dog friendly - outside braai area was nice - outside toilet with the view was unique and super cool -
Maybe consider closing the one side of the outside braai area with canvas net to protect against the wind in the evenings when sitting outside .

Reviewed Apr 7, 2026Kwaggaskop Farm Stoephuis by far exceeded our expectations.
We loved every moment. There was no phone signal which for us was such a big bonus!
We just took our phones for photo's and ended up only taking maybe 5 and actually just put our phones down the rest of the time. It was so amazing that not even photo's taken can justify how beautiful it is there and to just enjoy quality family time together - we braaied twice a day and it was just pure beauty!!
Loved every moment - honestly I wouldn't change one thing!!

Reviewed Mar 22, 2026The Quietness and the open space the fresh air and the owner that organised and assisted us with making a plan when there was no power on the farm, we had a photoshoot and my wife had to do her hair and with now power that was impossible, but owne organised that we go in to her office and we had power to do my wife's hairstyle, thanks for all the help we appreciate it.
The coal wood stove was a life saver it really heats up the inside of the house. And the farm worker that heats up the donkey in the morning and afternoon for the hot water
The rats in the roof, I know it's the farm style and all but a bit like a rugby match when one wants to sleep, the rain and lightning ⚡ tripped the main power and we was without power from getting there and 1 and a 1/2 days and no Backup power🧐 we had to use 2 small solar lights and 2 candles 🤠 but it was okay the long dirty road 30min to get to town is a bit long. Overall we had a great time.

Reviewed Oct 20, 2025This is an absolute gem of a farm stay. Authentic and so peaceful, complete with little touches like homemade rusks, fresh flowers and dog biscuits which makes it feel like you are visiting much love family. The best pet friendly stay we have had with plenty of beautiful walking areas and a large properly fenced of yard.
If being connected to the outside world is important , it should be noted that there is no Vodacom reception. We didn’t mind!

Reviewed Aug 25, 2025We had a fantastic weekend getaway at this lovely spot! The best part was being able to let our dogs run free without their leashes – they absolutely loved it. The unit we stayed in was very comfortable, and we had a splendid view of the farm from the stoep, which made our mornings even more enjoyable. The hosts were wonderful too – super friendly and always ready to help. Overall, it was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, and we can't wait to return!
Everything was perfect for us.

Reviewed Jul 13, 2025It was a lovely quiet location that was fenced off in what felt like a private and remote area. The view from your bedroom and the stoep made for a relaxing tea or coffee in the morning and a peaceful braai in the late afternoon. The owners were welcoming and very accommodating to our needs, making us feel comfortable during our whole stay, as well as very communicative. It was also a great find as it was perfect for pet owners with the fence around the home and ample land to go for walks with the dogs. There was also plenty of wood for the winter to prepare fires inside and outside the house!
If the water pressure of the toilets was increased it would make the stay just that much more comfortable for a family staying together. A slightly more equipped kitchen (such as a toaster, braai tongs, carving knife, chopping board) would also be great little additions.

Reviewed Jan 15, 20251. The communication from our hosts before and during our stay was highly appreciated.
2. The view from the stoep while having a braai and glass of wine is the reason I will go back.
3. The hikes on the farm through the plantations and around the dam was beautiful and relaxing.
4. When the ESKOM electricity went out on our second day and never came back on, the hosts brought us enough candles, ice and a cooler box.
1. Provincial dirt road to get to the farm was in a shocking condition.
2. We visited during the December 24 heatwave and had no fans in the unit or burglar bars at the windows to keep it open at night. Luckily the mist starting rolling in on the third afternoon and cooled us down and changed the atmosphere completely.

The remoteness suited us as we wanted to be away from anywhere. Just note that it is quite a drive to get to Dullstroom but that suited us perfectly. House is old school and quaint, charming. Very old school nostalgic feelings.
The farm road is better suited for a higher vehicle. Small cars will struggle especially if raining.
