Riverview House Sedgefield

What we loved most about Riverview House was the peace, scenery and tranquillity. Being surrounded by the forest and nature made it such a relaxing place to stay — it really felt like an escape from the busy day-to-day. The house itself was very comfortable and accommodating, and we felt genuinely at home during our stay. But one of the things we will remember most are the dogs. We dearly miss them right now! 🐶❤️ They kept us company and somehow became part of the whole experience. They even joined us on a hike and, believe it or not, guided us when we got lost! 😂 We would be standing there wondering where on earth we were supposed to go, look up, and there they'd be waiting for us like, “Come on, keep up!” 😂 It was honestly such a special and unexpected memory. The beautiful forest surroundings, the quietness, the incredible scenery and the warmth of the place made Riverview House somewhere we really enjoyed. It was peaceful, welcoming and felt like a proper break — and the dogs definitely made it even more memorable. We would happily come back. ❤️

If we had to find something we didn’t like, it would honestly be having to leave! 😂 We also didn’t take full advantage of the fact that we were told we could check out anytime on the Sunday. That is such a rare and generous thing to find these days, and looking back, we definitely should have stayed longer and enjoyed every last minute. And, of course, saying goodbye to the dogs was probably the hardest part. We got far too attached! 🐶❤️ So, in all honesty, our biggest regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Next time, we definitely will!

What a beautiful space and environment. So amazing. Everything was perfect.

View is stunning with the fresh air - could not get tired of it. Fireplace and heated beds were amazing in the winter. Lovely markets on the weekend, delicious lunch at Mojo Café, and we had some beautiful dogs visit us and guide us on the property's trails. Communication was smooth with the hosts as they were one message away. Thank you for having us!

We would recommend a great 3 night stay. Property is perfect for a long weekend getaway to decompress and detach from work and online (they do have WiFi and smart TV though). Not completely secluded, but feels like you are. Would recommend a visit!

We had a terrific stay. The house is amazing, with lots of care taken to make it extra comfortable and enjoyable. From very cozy, heated beds to games/books for entertainment, to various cooking appliances (incl. gas grill and outside braai), outdoor paths, hot tub and especially breathtaking views - there is too much to rave about at Riverview House. Our thanks to the hosts for being attentive, helpful and very welcoming.

Exceptional location and facilities at this beautifully decorated eco friendly home. The views over the tranquil valley are worth the price alone. There was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and we would not hesitate coming back.

Location, location, location. Breathtaking scenery and peaceful surroundings. Each member of my family had their favourite spot. Be it outside on the sun drenched deck or in the lounge with a book in front of the newly installed fireplace. Rooms are beautifully laid out and ideally suited for a peaceful night’s rest. I loved having my morning coffee overlooking the vistas from the deck, usually when everyone was still asleep.

The house is exceptionally well equipped with outstanding attention to detail. Every time we wondered if they would have something eg pegs to hang up washing - sure enough it was there. Its worth paying a bit extra to enjoy the lovely hot tub!

I never thought I’d give any property a 10 out of 10, but this one takes the cake. What an unbelievable place. The photos do not lie! Firstly, great communication from the owners. A wonderful welcome from the dogs 😊 easy access to get in. Absolutely spotless with anything you can need. This house is a real dream for people who are interested in Eco vacations. The view from the patio is honestly breathtaking. Showers were wonderful and beds were super comfortable. Lots of spots to just relax and enjoy the environment.

I can’t fault this place at all, but I could say that some people may find it a bit far from the town and it is quite a dark drive at night, but we didn’t find it intimidating at all. Zero complaints.

The view was absolutely stunning, being out in the wilderness was an amazing experience. The houses on the property are secluded from one another and the facility is stunning. Exploring was a adventure.

There is nothing I would change, except staying there longer.

An amazing accommodation that exceeded all expectations. Spacious, comfy, tranquil and, most of all, some of the best views of our holiday. It was so great we almost skipped some activities so we could just chill on the patio with the sun on the hills. It was incredibly hard packing up for our next leg.

Clean, big rooms and a stunning views from the large deck. The hot tub was great. Stepped into when it was still cold. Cooled me down after sitting in the hot sun.

Beautiful views from an amazing sunny north facing deck with comfy couches. Perfect for lazy reading days :-). The house was very well equipped and comfortable. Centrally located but out away from town. Good walks close by with a short drive to nearby beach.

The Barrington Road was a bit busier than anticipated.

A Tranquil and Luxurious Retreat. My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at River View Lodge for two nights, a perfect getaway option. This hidden gem offers breathtaking views over the river and surrounding forest, and the sight of Knysna loeries swooping through the trees was a highlight of our stay. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the spacious and comfortable porch, taking in the serene surroundings. The outdoor braai facilities were excellent, with plenty of dry wood waiting for us. The house itself is a beautiful blend of comfort and understated elegance. The bedroom is spacious with a comfortable king size bed and a tranquil forest view. The bathroom had a roomy shower, decent water pressure and plush towels. The kitchen was incredibly well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals. Attention to detail was evident throughout, from the high-quality furnishings to the thoughtful touches, like a selection of condiments – milk, sugar, coffee, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and honey – all provided for our convenience. The location was ideal for us – close enough to town to explore, but far enough away to provide the peace and quiet we were looking for. We truly felt like we were in the heart of nature, but with all the comforts we needed. We genuinely wish we could have stayed longer, and we’ll definitely be returning in the future. River View Lodge is a perfect blend of comfort, tranquillity, and luxury, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, nature-filled retreat.

Quiet, very comfortable, great view, all mod cons and everything worked. Spent a lot of time chilling on the deck. Dean was very attentive and helpful, responded to queries promptly. The short walk up the stream is beautiful. Very enjoyable stay.

Not much. The one or two minor issues we had were quickly resolved. It's a little way out of town but not far enough to be a problem, and in fact that made it even more relaxing and peaceful.

An exquisite property with one of the most beautiful views to wake up to that I have experienced in the entire garden route. The hosts were excellent very accommodating and fine tuned in on all the details that make a stay great.
