Reviewed Sep 16, 2026Super property & outstanding host ! Newly updated & well appointed rooms. Sean’s attention to detail was not unnoticed. The kitchen is well stocked for breakfasts, and lunch provisions were also on hand for sandwiches and packed lunches. Sean was very responsive to all our inquiries and offered lifts back to the trail head for our entire group. He also has great merch if you’re walking the Wicklow Way!

Reviewed Sep 16, 2026Der Inhaber Shawn ist außergewöhnlich nett und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns bei der Ankunft ein frisches Guiness gezapft, obwohl der Pub noch nicht geöffnet war. Unser Zimmer war sehr schön und komfortabel. Das Bettzeug hat wunderbar gerochen 😄 Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Der Pub im Haus ist ebenfalls sehr schön.

Just might be an idea to emphasise it is continental breakfast facility included. Plenty of food available, lots of choice of cereal and juice but we did not realise there was no cooked breakfast. Just a note to emphasise rather than criticise.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Lovely, clean accommodation a little off the Wicklow Way, with a pub downstairs and a self-service breakfast (toast, ham, cheese, jam, coffee and tea). The owner, Sean, is the best! In the morning, he gave us a lift back to the trail and saved us an extra 3 km of walking. Thank you so much! :)

Reviewed Aug 25, 2026the hospitality, the bed was firm, the continental self serve breakfast, the cleanliness, and the whole place has character. It was clean and again, the people (sean) was so great. He even helped my husband with his ancestry journey by connecting us with a local.
Maybe the blankets on the seating in the common area? idk its fleece and makes me think it's covering up the seating for a good reason, but it is comfy, i just associate it with the blanket i use at home for my dog that covers up the couch maybe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Camere moderne e pulite, Wi-Fi presente ovunque e Smart TV attive. La mattina Sean è stato così cortese da averci accompagnato in auto lungo il primo tratto di strada un po' trafficato fino all'inizio della traccia per la nostra ultima giornata di cammino. Grazie ancora!

Reviewed Aug 4, 2026I had a lovely stay at The Central House. Sean was very welcoming, and check-in was straightforward and easy. The room was spotless, comfortable, and nicely furnished. It was a nice touch to have bottled water and snacks available in the kitchen for guests to help themselves to. The Central House has a really comfortable, homely atmosphere, and it's in a great location for exploring the area. I would definitely recommend staying here!

breakfast was okay, but nothing fancy, breakfast room gets crowded quickly, it's a self-service kitchen with all the essentials of a continental breakfast, but we could make ourselves packed lunch :)

Unfortunately it was during the hot days here in Ireland so room was too hot, but of course that's not the property's fault. Plenty of selection for continental breakfast in the common area and lots of bottles of water, which was great as it was a very hot day! Plenty of parking outside. Quiet picturesque village.

The shared breakfast/sitting area was nice and cosy, and good make it yourself breakfast options and the option to pack a lunch. Sean was really nice and we appreciated the ride to the start of the Wicklow Way where we left the previous day. We recommend Central House.

Es gab leider kein für Wanderer geeignetes Frühstück. Beim Wandern frühstückt man ausgiebig und bekommt über den Tag so gut wie nichts. Das war bei dem Angebot leider nicht doll, zumal das Essen sonst sehr gut war.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026The location was easy to get to by car, there was plenty of parking. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was also clean. The host Sean was lovely. He confirmed our room needs the day before, and confirmed arrival time the day of so he could be there to greet us. He also did us a huge favour and dropped us out to a wedding 15 mins away. We were very stuck for taxis getting home and Sean was available to do a collection run. I made sure to pay him for his time because he really saved my backside that weekend. A true gentleman and I can't recommend central house enough.

Unser gebuchtes DZ mit eigenem Bad haben wir nicht bekommen. Stattdessen haben wir ein DZ im Haus der Mutter von Sean bekommen mit einem Bad zum teilen mit einem anderen Paar.

Les chambres sont très confortables, calmes et propres et les salles de bain très bien équipées avec une grande douche puissante comme on aime après une journée de marche. Le petit pub trop mignon au RDC est super et l'accueil de Sean formidable. Il est même venu nous chercher en voiture à la fin de l'étape du Wicklow way pour nous éviter quelques kilomètres sur le goudron. Un grand merci !

Reviewed Oct 28, 2025What a great experience! Sean and his family were so accommodating and their place had a warm and welcoming feel. They guided us to places we had not thought of (you must go to the “Dying Cow pub”) and the town is small but so perfectly quaint. Next to the place is the John F. Kenny pub and they pour a perfect Guinness and the Balmers were cold. Also part of Sean’s family as he is the publican. We had 2 single beds and they both were comfortable and though the room was small, it was well appointed and very clean. The continental-type breakfast was fine and was available 24/7. There was ample parking for guests so we never had to worry about that like you do in most places. Overall I wish I could give it a score of 100 and when back, we will definitely stay here again!
