Great room, clearly new, very clean. Mosquito nets provided and some water and a kettle in the room.

Limited plug sockets, there was a central extension in between the beds, but nothing for each bed.

The family is hospitable, free breakfast is good, it is also possible to pay for lunch and dinner, not at all expensive compared to the delivery of Peak Mick

The rooms and beds were clean, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Above all, the hospitality of the owner's family was fantastic. I'll definitely stay here again if I come to Kandy again. Thank you so much.

I am fortunate to have enjoyed a very comfortable stay and extraordinary hospitality. I experienced the family as being kind, generous, sincere, compassionate and having great integrity. I felt very much at ease staying at Diamond Shine.  The accommodation has been organised very well. It is clean, new, modern and of good quality. Also, the WiFi is consistently fast, and the connection didn't drop once.  I felt safe in the neighborhood, which is quiet and friendly, with all the amenities that one might need. It is far enough away from Kandy to escape the noise and the busyness of the city, but very well connected with transport links and close enough to be in the heart of the city in 10 minutes. Communication before and during my stay was smooth and pleasant, and I am grateful to the family that they can speak English very well.  I can wholeheartedly recommend Diamond Shine to all and will be happy if I can return in the future.

The hosts are incredible, they meet you with a welcome drink, provide home cooked meals for breakfast lunch and dinner with produce from their garden, currency exchange, laundry, tips and advice, answer any questions and can provide lifts into town. Nothing is too much trouble and they want you to have the best stay. The property is beautiful with amazing views of the hills and the facilities are very clean and private. While you eat in their home with them, the dorm and bathroom is in a separate building that also has privacy. The room has lockers and mosquito nets for each bunk and there is fast WiFi. There is also a fan in the room and drinking water available free of charge.

Nothing really, the property is a bit of a way out of town, but there are local buses that go every few minutes for 45 rupees 2 minutes walk from the hostel, the host will drive you, and you can get tuk tuk for around 500 rupees.

The property was clean. The mountain views are awesome. I bought two meals and the food was good.

My stay at Diamond Shine Hostel was an absolutely wonderful experience. What I liked most about this property was the exceptional hospitality and boundless cooperation I received from the owners. They made me feel truly welcome, even offering tea and coffee, which was a lovely gesture. A situation arose where I forgot my power bank in a taxi, and they went above and beyond to help me contact the taxi driver and retrieve it. They even took me in their own car to assist with this matter. Mr. Mahesh was incredibly respectful and kind, as were his daughter and wife. Their entire family made me feel right at home, and I received nothing but kindness and wonderful treatment from them. In short: A fantastic place with incredibly hospitable staff and family, always ready to help with respect and kindness, and thoughtful touches like offering tea and coffee. I highly recommend this place!

Honestly, there was nothing significant that I disliked about the property.

Absolutely marvelous is the property and especially the hosts. This is not your typical hostel. Located at the rooftop of a home and nestled in a place where it's neither too close nor too far away from the main road of Ampitiya. The room, rooftop and bathroom are uber clean and special emphasis is laid frequently to the cleanliness of the place. The primary thing though of the place is the food and it can be vouched that they prepare the best Sri Lankan food you'll find anywhere around. The entire family is a jolly group of people with talents ranging from cooking to video-editing. Overall, amazing experience.

Amazing deal for the price and location. Its about 400 in a Pick Me ride if you walk away from train station to other side of lake. Can catch a bus back to town easily. Family was super accommodating and welcomed me with a coffee and quick chat. Their daughter bakes great cakes and mom and daughter made a lovely simple Sri Lankan breakfast. Quiet even for SL New Year.
