The first room we had the bed was probably fine for most but we prefer a larger bed so the lady on reception did not hesitate to move us to a room with a larger bed. Which turned out to be a fabulous suite.

Tolles Hotel direkt an der Promenade von Douglas. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß und komfortabel ausgestattet. Die kostenfreie Minibar wird täglich befüllt. Tolles Frühstück mit Buffet und a la Carte Optionen. Sehr freundliches Personal was immer hilfsbereit ist. Die Lage eignet sich wunderbar für Ausflüge über die Insel denn die Pferdebahn fährt in der Nähe ab, zum Bahnhof sind es 15 Minuten zu Fuß und direkt vor dem Hotel fahren regelmäßig Busse ab. Direkt um die Ecke liegt die Fußgängerzone mit zahlreichen Geschäften, Cafés und Restaurants. Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen!

Breakfasts were great - plentiful. Loved having a lift. Peter on Reception on our arrival off the ferry at 6 am organised breakfast and our room was ready at 10 am so we could catch up on sleep. The mini bar with complementary crisps, water, soft drinks and chocolate was very much appreciated. We enjoyed our evening meal too.

Fantastic breakfast. Wonderful welcome in arrival. Very clean well appointed rooms with wonderful touches like toilet paper and tissues beautifully folded. Great staff, wonderful decoration and fabulous location.

The only slight down side was that noise travelled between rooms and we had particularly noisy neighbours on the first night. Nothing the hotel can do about people being noisy so this was a minor thing.

Lovely few days here. The hotel ticks all the boxes and was worth splashing out for a sea view. Staff delightful and breakfast was great. Happy to recommend staying here.

First impressions are excellent from the minute you walk in. The whole place was exceptionally clean and the staff were fabulous, friendly and very approachable. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was great. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked. Tea / coffee making facilities in the room always a winner, and a fridge is such a bonus especially as when we stayed it was really hot.

Fantastic location overlooking beautiful Douglas Bay. A lovely old Victorian converted house. Lovely rooms, esp with the sea view. Great, friendly, helpful and professional staff and excellent food.

As good as it gets. I spent 3 nights and right from the start (Rachel on Reception) the experience was first class. The breakfast was 5 star and the room had everything. There were small touches like complimentary mini bar (you normally get ripped off) that went down well. If I could ask for anything different it would have been a better matress. Thank you for a great stay.

Great position on the seafront, super comfortable beds. Staff really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will definately return.

The only downside was nothing to do with the hotel, it was the unreliability of the steam packet company. We lost a whole day going out and were late on the return. Exhausting.

Everything was exceptional. Breakfast excellent, homemade waffles to die for. Beds very comfy. decor lovely. Staff very friendly. One minor fault. The table which the fridge sits on could do with cleaning at the base of it.

The hotel was decorated to a high standard and the staff where very pleasant. Breakfast was exceptional. Located near the town centre. Attention to detail on somethings was a nice touch, complimentary crisps, waters, juices, chocolate, tea and coffee. Flowers on the toilet roll ends.

Our room was on the fourth floor and when our windows where opened (due to the hot weather) we got the smell of cooked food through our room. Worried of our clothes being smelly. Also there was patio doors in the bedroom which backed above the kitchen area too, they didn't lock correctly, (mislined) when we returned to our room on the last night on entering our room one door was wide opened and we don't know how long for. It's aswell it wasn't raining or it was easy access for an unwanted guest! The water pressure wasn't strong in the wash hand basin or shower. Noticed cob webs on the ceiling above the bed. It was noisey with neighbours closing doors nearby and sometimes it felt like it was at our door. We had an early ferry on our last morning so missed out on our last breakfast which was a pity as it was what we looked forward to as we toured the island the rest of the time. Feel it was a bit overpriced now when I think of the above flaws. "Stay like the stars" I think it needs a few areas brought up to meet that standard!

Very friendly and central location

Due to age of the hotel the double glazing did not keep out the outside noise. We could also hear next door so walls are pretty thin.

We liked our room, however we were on floor 4 and as I do not use lifts due to feeling claustrophobic as a 82 year old woman found it quite a challenge managing the stairs all the time. However I was advised I should have let the hotel know as if I had they would have given us a room on the first floor.

The bar could have been better stocked. Also there was quite a wait for dinner to be served. However I understood that the chef likes cooking everything from fresh.

This was a late booking to see my daughter who is working in the IOM, and I was pleasantly surprised by the price of this accommodation including breakfast for the two of us, particularly when compared some chain accommodation availability and pricing. I arrived early following an overnight ferry and the staff on reception were welcoming and accommodating of me leaving my luggage with them ahead of check in. The location is great, close to the theatre and Villa Marina. And directly opposite from the promenade. On check in, I found the room to be spacious, very clean, with a beautiful modern bathroom, and a mini fridge with lots of complimentary drinks and snacks (my daughter loved this!). There was nothing missing that we may have needed - iron, ironing board, plenty of towels, slippers etc. We both had a great nights sleep and woke to a great breakfast where there was lots of choice and our ordered food was cooked to perfection. This is a fantastic hotel, where all the staff are working hard to create a personal experience for their guests. There is an amazing guest lounge which I disappointingly didn’t have time to sit and enjoy, however I can imagine with poor weather this would be a welcomed space by guests. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel, and both my daughter and I felt that we had an amazing experience staying here.

Location - beachfront hotel.

Air conditioner didn’t work at all and at night we have 24 degrees room. Problems with electricity at night was flashing lamps. So sad views from windows.

We loved absolutely everything about the Halvard Hotel! It is directly on the Douglas Promenade, about a 15 minute walk from the sea terminal. We did it with suitcases no problem. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a magnificent bathroom. Our rooms faced the promenade and the view was gorgeous. We could leave the windows open and get a lovely breeze. The breakfast was so delicious. There were continental choices, but you could also order from the menu. Huge portions from the menu and all was so tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage in the lobby after check out and until our ferry left in the afternoon. The hotel is located close to the Manx Museum and several bus stops. If we ever return to the Isle of Man, we will stay here again!

Thank you so much to the staff at Halvard Hotel. My partner and I took our first trip together to the Isle of Man and had a superb stay at the Halvard Hotel. The facilities were exceptional along with personal and caring service. We'd like to say a particular thank you to the lady who was in charge of front of house when we dined in the hotel's restaurant we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. We will definitely stay here again.

Absolutely amazing experience at this hotel,we had a superior sea view room which is probably the biggest room I've ever stayed in Everything you needed was in the room down to an iron and board and even water coke crisps and chocolate which was replenished daily .Breakfast was a treat in itself which really sets you up for the day ,and then there is marianne on the front desk who really goes the extra mile whatever your need,thankyou so much .In conclusion I have no doubt in recommending this hotel you will not be disappointed.

It was very hot during our stay and like all hotels just the one weight duvet. Was. A bit noisy on one night with some drunk singing but that was not the hotel’s fault.

The hotel was well run and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast and the choice of breakfasts was super. The hotel has its own dining restaurant for evening meals. The choice and quality of the food were superb.

Hotel staff were excellent, the place was immaculately clean and the food was great. Not much else to add.

The only small issue with the whole stay was beyond the control of the hotel....it was a heatwave and my room was very warm as it was at the rear and on the the top floor and got baked by the afternoon sun. This was not the hotel's fault.....it was just very unusual weather.

Although having a car during our stay was not expensive, it was not straightforward.

Very convenient for the ferry terminal, a 10 minute walk. Short walk to steam trains, linger to electric tram. Convenient for buses. Excellent breakfast. Helpful friendly staff. Good sized comfortable room.

There were a couple of electrical problems, promptly fixed by the staff.

Netflix and YouTube apps not working on TV. TV volume fixed at too low a level. Hence cannot hear the TV at all with all the noise outside. Bit noisy at night as it's close to a local pub. Mattresses need updating. Far too soft. In hot weather there should be a lower tog duvet though I guess we should have asked for one.

Breakfast was excellent, we had a wide variety of food. Our room was huge with a lovely sea view. It was really clean and comfortable with all the facilities you would need. The hotel is situated right on the seafront allowing easy access to shops and restaurants. If we return to the isle of man we will use this hotel again.

Would have liked a toilet brush in the bathroom, apart from that it was excellent.

The hotel is elegant in style, scrupulously clean and well appointed with friendly staff. The complimentary items included were welcome. It was well situated for access to the excellent public transport which we used extensively to explore the island - and also convenient for the town centre and ferry terminal. There was a good choice for breakfast and we enjoyed the two evening meals we had there - though some dishes were rather too substantial.

The only downside was that the Samuel Wells bar which is opposite the hotel at the rear created a lot of noise in the early hours of the morning. The hotel has done its best to alleviate this with double double glazing which cuts most noise out - but not good for those who like to let a little fresh air in at night. The licensing authorities should take steps to curb late night drinking at this bar and not allow then to have tables outside - it is not fair to this excellent hotel.

Very noisy, no sound proofing at all, you can hear everything from the room next to you. Breakfast was very mediocre

So central and friendly staff

Staff were very kind, we arrived at 5.30am having had a flight cancelled, they looked after us - gave us a comfortable place to sit, gave us coffee, breakfast and let us check in by 9.30 am rather than 3pm.

It was very expensive, but it was TT week and we were on a cancelled flight so booked this as there was a vacancy. It however was lovely, the staff amazing and we understand the price given the time of year.

The best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel

The staff were friendly and hotel had lots of character. Breakfast very good. Room was excellent overlooking the promenade. My one criticism is that apart from a welcome lift there was no facilities for disabled people. Parking outside the hotel had been taken over by electric charging bays.4 steps up to the hotel and a further 8 stairs upto our room after using lift to 4th floor landing, were a challenge!

The room we had was very nice, but you could hear the next room to us like they were in the same room.

VERY noisy at night - not the hotel's fault, but due to the proximity of the hotel to night time venues & we stayed on a Saturday night, there were several hours of broken sleep due to rowdy revellers. No bedside lights for reading. No bath.

Great location. Some nice touches like complimentary soft drinks and snacks replenished daily. Lovely staff and very, very clean. Excellent bathroom. I hated the big, bouncy pillows but the housekeeper found me a replacement which was flatter and softer. Great service.

The room was a bit small and cramped I think for what we were paying. ( not like the one in the picture!) It was overheated and following consultation with the receptionist it seems the thermostats are for show and don’t really work. We had both windows open as far as they would go and this was in early May cool temperatures. The lighting consisted of very bright main lights, some pointless ‘mood lighting’ but nothing at all which enabled one of us to go to sleep while the other one read a book. Quite good breakfast but not in any way exceptional.

The parking is not as advertised, there was quite a draft that blew all the way through the building and up the stairs. The lighting in the bedroom was a pain as was the heating.

The breakfast was same day in day out. It was obvious that the milk jugs are not inspected inside especially in the handle joining recess. Dinner menu same at all times and expensive.

This is a very good hotel and I would return again. Rooms are very comfortable and clean and staff are helpful and professional Catering is good. The shower works and the free mini bar is appreciated

A lot of positives but a big negative at one level for parking. It is not a disaster. Judicious use of the 2 hour parking disc and the public car park made it workable. We stayed for 7 nights and only had to pay for parking once when we chose to leave the car in the car park all day
