It was an emergency stay as my mum took unwell white on holiday and needed an operation. Staff were very helpful and accommodating when I got her out of hospital and she stayed 1 night before travelling home. Food was great
Probably having stairs didn’t help but that was known before booking
Easy to get two from airport
Very clean
Amazing staff, all professionals & extremely helpful. Beautiful sea view room. Cleaned daily, good food.
Hairdryer did not work.
Food selection for breakfast and dinner. Nice bar for sitting in the evening. Location is excellent.
Queue for the lift every time. Creaky floorboards in the room
Well positioned on Douglas promenade
The breakfast was excellent
Nothing
Had an amazing time here staff were very friendly...food was very nice ...always happy to help out ......u have the lovely see view as soon as u walk out the hotel the shops our 15 mins walk to town centre......we went for the bowling festival week and it was amazing had great fun and the people there are so friendly and make u feel welcome.
Everything and we stayed for a week already booked hotel again for next year.
Fantastic location, clean and good food with a choice of bar food and bistro. Staff were really helpful and breakfast great.

Location,size of room,view,very clean.
Breakfast bacon swimming in grease.
Great location, staff were helpful
Nothing
Good food in both areas Comfy bed Welcoming entrance Good sized room
Breakfast room dreary Very small lift
Lovely staff. Lovely piano man. Lovely breakfast and generous dinners.
Room was small and no view.
We have stayed at the empress several times so we know what we are getting
Staff are amazing
Its location on the promenade is ideal. The breakfast is fabulous.
Our room was very small but considered executive, my daughter’s room was better and cost less.
Beautiful hotel, fabulous location. Lovely room and facilities. Good food and excellent Piano bar entertainment
Nothing not to like.
Beautiful views from the room. Hotel was very clean everywhere. We enjoyed a very reasonable priced meal in the bar.
Nothing
Location was great. Breakfast was good
I didn’t have a shower curtain. I felt like I soaked the place. I opted to have a bath on check out day to play it safe.
All of it
?nothing
The entrance and bars are lovely
The bedrooms are small and bathrooms in need of refurbishment
This is a great hotel with friendly staff, it is in a good location, the evening entertainment helped to make are stay a very happy experience, thank you.
The parking was a big problem.
Pleasant & helpful staff, clean & well equipped room.
Lack of parking but I was made fully aware of that.
Location was wonderful. Breakfast was well organised and regularly topped up before things ran out. Staff worked really hard to make it run like clockwork.
Nothing
The Hotel was excellent. Clean, comfortable and staff were great. Food excellent and good choice at a reasonable cost.
Nothing.
Everything fablous hotelo
Location, staff and food, it has both bar and restaurant options
like most of Douglas, it's an old building and the noise between rooms travels fairly easily, I had noisy people upstairs who would be walking around from 5 ~ 6 am in what felt like packing suitcases several days, so sleep was always cut short.
The situation of the hotel is perfect - just a walk away from the main area and easy walk to the paddock during TT and Manx events. The hotel was spotless, the most comfortable bed ! Breakfast excellent and always a gluten free option (can’t have -not fussy!) Had a meal one night in the restaurant - booking a must, and the food is a good as you will find anywhere. The Queenies dish on the menu has a reputation- bit of a must have for foodies visiting the island. But the best thing about the hotel is all the staff , always polite, willing to help and always wearing a smile ❤️ we will be back
Nothing, all good
Great Breakfast , location good , room cleaned every day
Bit of a drain smell but our room was at the back and think it was from outside as we had window open
Cleanliness, facilities, location and great staff
Decent cup of coffee at breakfast would be great
The location was fantastic.
The rooms were old and dated, bed lumpy and tired. Everything past the foyer needed updating from the 90’s. Room was tiny could not get suitcase round the end of the bed and for that eye watering price I expected much much better.
Nice hotel near the ferry and well located for the tt
Rooms a bit tired but fine for us
Location
A little dated decor wise but wasn’t a deal breaker for us
a comfortable stay
nothing really
Breakfast good location good
Port errin
Everything about it
There was plenty of choice for breakfast. Music each evening was nice. The location was ideal for walking around the city.
The room appeared to be on a slant. There was no designated hotel parking.
Fabulous little hotel in an excellent location. Rooms were very comfortable and had what we needed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Lots to choose from and platinum. We ate at the hotel every night as there was a great choice of bar food and it was very tasty. Particularly enjoyed the sticky chilli chicken.
Just little things not really worth a mention. Granola would be good at breakfast and I missed being able to have a look through a book exchange library.
The bar
The space of the t Room
Most of the stay was brilliant staff the hotel couldn't fault.
The only thing was the bathroom the short space you have to get in the bath was a struggle for me as I am only short and 71 year of age think it would be better if you had more space to get in the bath besides that as I said everything else was fine
Good central location in Douglas
Having good food all day, glass conservatory to view the street.
The drink prices, noise one evening with a private party (did not use the function rooms)
Friendly staff. The hotel decor is lovely and a really relaxed place to spend time.
My room was quite noisy. Outside my windows was a set of metal stairs used by staff. They would sit out there talking and smoking. I could smell the smoke in my room. The vents for the kitchen were close too. When coming into my room after a day out the room smelt like fried food.
Fint läge vid strandpromenaden. Sköna sängar och god frukost. Väldigt god afternoon tea som kunde bokas separat. Fixade tidig frukost innan vår avresa.
Många trappor och nivåskillnader. Lite knepig dusch. Visst störande ljud tidigt på morgonen om man har fönstret mot gården öppet.
The bed was very comfortable, also the restaurant food was very good
When I booked, I booked a luxury room, I don’t call a bath with a shower above the bath, with a shower curtain luxury, also the fan was a cheap white fan that was noisy which we had to have on during the night as it was a heat wave , also the bedding the quilt was a 10.5 or a 13 tog which meant we had to sleep on top of the bed , when it should have been changed to a summer quilt weight , with blankets if you needed them, Also the tv was not working correctly had to turn it on and off at the wall, and to get channels use the to itself to receive them, but the staff knew there should have been 2 remotes for this to as the sky box was old, which we only had one so the remote did not work, for what we got it was expensive our room was 409 will not stay again
Location was good
I would give this hotel three stars at best, as that is about what I feel it qualifies for. The Wi-Fi was terribly poor. I was unable to attend an online Zoom meeting because the connection was so slow. I complained about the issue, but unfortunately, nothing was done to resolve it. They also did not provide complimentary bottles of water, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. The breakfast menu was also quite limited, with very few options available. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I would not consider staying here again.
Location
Nothing
Loved having a Seaview room. Room spacious.
Didn't like that there were 2 steps to bathroom with no grab rail. I have mobility issues and found this difficult with nothing to hold onto.
God beliggenhet.
Dårlig seng (altfor hard). Tepper i gang og rom for øvrig som det lukter noe mugg av. Dårlig dusj (altfor lav).
It was very central to everything
Room was very small, bed was not comfortable and was very small for a double bed
Staff pleasant, polite and always helpful. Welcoming entrance ..The groundfloor restaurant and bar clean , tidy and welcoming, and with excellent pianist.on certain evenings. Breakfast staff quick to respond to needs and questions. A well stocked and presented breakfast. Room was daily tidied, and towels replenished. Telephone in room and note pad with pen. Cleaners very pleasant and good at their job.
A little mould on the corners of the bath under the shower head. A few of the fillings in the bathroom need to be refreshed or renewed
Friendly staff, lovely breakfast
Bathroom quite outdated in room. Felt reception staff could have had bus info to hand. We were gven a timetable but it would have been better if they had bus to airport times. Timetables not always easy to work out.
Location. Food.Bar.staff
No shortfalls
The room size.
The housekeeping was not up to the standard. The room was not vacuumed, thr toilet was not mopped, one side of a curtain was torn out and it was not fixed during our stay. Moreover. we couldn't watch the TV during our stay there was no signal we have to call the reception to fix it. after some time the problem will arise again we kept calling the reception again and again which was annoying.
How helpful and polite they was is a credit to the company made our stay soo easy !! Was like home from home
No pool any more or gym
Excellent location, convenient to public transport and town center. Piano bar. Convenient breakfast provided for early departure. Good housekeeping.
Smallish room with shower in bathtub not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Long walk to elevator with lots of tripping hazards. Tiny elevator inadequate for number of rooms. Somewhat impersonal service. Seems mostly focused on bus tour groups. Average breakfast with only filter coffee, no espresso, cappuccino etc.
Nice and clean
Nothing
nnice location plasant staff
A stuffy room ,small closet tiles in the bathroom needs re grouting The shower curtain needs to be changed dirty at bottom didnt dine at the hotel as we felt under age😃
Great deal staying here with a fantastic location. Clean and tidy with a very comfy bed. Nice bar to spend an hour in the evening and a good breakfast the next day.
No Air con or fan, but we just opened the window, which helped.
The hotel was near the terminus and bus stops was just over the road
Noise at nighttime slamming doors and shouting and having the tv on loud at silly hours
The open spaces on the ground floor were very welcoming and relaxing with good views over the sea
If you sleep with the window open, the noise from 6am in the bedrooms facing the well, would certainly wake you up. Only slightly better with the window closed. Suggest you request a room which doesn't begin with 6... or faces the sea.
Everything
Perfect base for exploring Douglas and the Isle of Man The Penthouse Room 405 had a fabulous shower and views from the balcony. Plenty of space. The Manx Kipper and fruit platter for breakfast was great. Plenty on offer for breakfast. Staff responded well to early issues and put things right.
Got off to a bad start with food left in the fridge and items in the drawers. The manager sorted it and was very apologetic. Watching the breakfast staff pour the dregs of everyone’s milk into new jugs and then serve back out. Very unhygienic. We asked for fresh milk after that. The lift was frustrating - too small and inconsistent. Steps everywhere! Narrow corridors.
Location and helpful staff
Little dated
Great location. Beautiful food and wonderful staff
Could find no faults everything was perfect fo our stay
Position
Rooms extremely hot and beds not the size stated by staff
Nice hotel on the prom breakfast was good as were the meals in the bar afternoon tea was the best i have ever had
Im disabled and walk on crutches could have done with a walk in shower and been nearer the lift and somewhere to leave mobility scooters also a stairlift up to the entance they have a disabled entrance but it takes a lot of time and effort to use it
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends !
Nothing comes to mind.
The staff was amazing and very helpful
Location location location. Less than 5 min drive from sea terminal. Disabled parking bays almost outside of hotel and ample parking spaces facing hotel on promenade. Disabled access entrance too. Promenade is easy and flat to walk to the electric railway which takes you to some lovely tourist parts of the island. Loved the piano player at night, lovely to relax with some beautiful tunes. Breakfast has absolutely everything you could want and if you wanted boiled eggs, fish, porridge, poached eggs they would make them fresh for you, very accommodating. The staff are all very helpful, polite and charming.
No air con in the rooms, the lift takes an age to arrive and if coach parties arrive with luggage it blocks the whole hotel reception to get to the lift. Which is not ideal.no rooms for three people looks onto the front promenade which was disappointing.
On arrival we were allocated room 611 which was as booked( sea view with walk in shower)The room was prepared well and the bathroom was modern and very clean. But there was no wardrobe ! I.e. nowhere for ladies to hand long dresses.* Note for hotel....... just take out the middle shelf of the cubby hole offered as a wardrobe. There were plenty of drawers and other shelves for storage.Without much fuss we were moved to another room which was satisfactory but without a walk in shower. We ate in the hotel every night and the food was very good especially from the restaurant menu which you can eat in the bar area.In the bar area we were entertained most nights by a very talented professional pianist who played light easy listening tunes from all ears and happy to oblige all requests.Strangely we were not allowed to buy a drink for the pianist to show our appreciation. An odd rule since most musicians would say they enjoy some refreshment and appreciate a pint to relax and help them play better.Hope the hotel change that rule should we visit again. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and it would be our choice of where to stay in Douglas should we decide to visit the island again. Malcolm and Shirley Vance
Very convenient for day and night life
Location, access and view.
Bar service staff response.
Yet another brilliant stay at the Empress Hotel. Super view from our bedroom and the conservatory Room was clean, always clean towels when asked for plus a note put for extra milk every day and it was there. Breakfast nice and hot and the bar food was excellent- particularly the Empress Shared Platter. Booked again for the 2027 Southern 100 as cant fault the place. Must mention Alfie in the Piano Bar. He was excellent.
Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und die Lage des Hotels an der Promenade ist perfekt.
-
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, breakfast was very plentiful, wonderful location for buses and very pleasant walks along the promenade
Location. Friendly staff . Lovely conservatory. Good breakfast choices.
Stairs after lift! Wine options limited. Small plate option if cheese and ham/bacon croquette was potato croquette. refunded but enjoyed other choices.
Clean modern facilities with friendly helpful staff. Room was a good size with comfortable bed. Good choice of menus in either the Piano Bar or Brasserie.
Difficult to cool the room down during the hot spell of weather.
Having used this hotel many times before, found it to be as good as ever with rooms updated. Very welcoming and comfortable with excellent facilities. Great service and well located.
Our 11th visit to the Empress - great location, great staff, good bar and restaurant. Stayed in a sea view room with a relaxing & panoramic view of Douglas Bay watching the world pass by. Breakfast buffet style with plentiful selection of options inc.kippers ! Love the island and all its beautiful places - the Empress is the ideal base to go touring around the island - all being well we will be back in 2027 for another relaxing and charming break....
Excellent location lovely restaurant staff very helpful
Staff were lovely, the breakfast was excellent & we particularly enjoyed sitting in the bar area listening to the piano being played. Very enjoyable stay.
Location and piano playing in the bar in the evening, also very good breakfasts
Average selection of beers, need better Manx real ales
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
This hotel is on the esplanade - one big party street during the Isle of man TT. Lots of other TT fans in the hotel.
Price was quite high during the TT week, but that's the case with all the hotels.
Lovely hotel, in a good position, although the bedroom was a little tired it was spotlessly clean, towels were changed very regularly, tea, coffee and milk, and biscuits were refilled every day, five star bedroom cleaning and attention to detail. Very good breakfast.
My bedroom was an interior room, which made it rather dark and of course no view, the downside of the hotel was lack of parking, I had to park a good 10. To 15 minutes away from the hotel, which was a nightmare .
It was very clean and the staff were very friendly.
Great location. Very nice sea view room. Everything we needed.
Small lift which was busy.
Nice friendly hotel, good breakfast.
Good breakfast. Quiet rooms.
We visited the Empress for 4 nights through a coach company. Cant fault the coach company. The room we stayed in definitely needed an upgrade but it was clean & tidy. Towels changed each day but was very small. Breakfast was lovely but the evening meals were terrible. Nothing home cooked. Meals were like warmed up ready meals. Probably one of the worst hotels we have stayed in for evening meal. Definitely needs improving else business I’m sure will be lost.
Really loved staying at the Empress Location very good. The seaview room was very clean and Bed comfortable, all staff was very helpful piano room bar food good and the pianist.excellant.
Good location, comfortable with an excellent restaurant.
Room was adjacent to the kitchen fans which started at 6 every morning.
Location was perfect
Rooms could have been cleaner. Walls are very thin i could hear the people in the next room snoring all night.
We stayed for 4 nights at The Empress. It’s a lovely hotel and we were very satisfied with everything. We had a sea facing room (206) which was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had a fan in the room…which was much needed! We ate three nights in the Hotel as we found the food good and reasonably priced. We also had the Afternoon tea which was delicious. At breakfast there was a varied choice….something for everyone. It was buffet style which suited us. All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Excellent 10/10 great service views fantastic
Everything great food room clean staff friendly and helpful
Great hotel in the centre of Douglas sea front Twin sea view room was very good ( room 205 ) Great for weekend break Good breakfast plenty of choice 👍
All rooms were excellent. The pianist in the piano room was excellent.
Lots of choice , food and plates always warm .
We would have preferred a bigger room perhaps one with a sea view so would book further in advance in the future.
Clean great location staff excellent
Lot of steps.
It was a lovely hotel. Tastefully decorated. It was in a good location, with bus stops outside. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good. We had breakfast which was buffet style with lots of choice, also Afternoon Tea which was delicious and good value. We ate evening meal also which was good value.
Lovely room with sea view. You can hear the waves. Very peaceful at night. Breakfasts cater for every taste and the bar and brasserie served very good food. Vegatables weren't overcooked and the menu is varied. Staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful.
