Tucked away in the quiet edges of San Pedro, Casa Vizcacha is one of those places you almost don’t want to share — because it feels like a hidden desert retreat. We absolutely loved the calm, the space, and that raw Atacama charm. It’s simple in the best possible way: everything you actually need is there, without any unnecessary noise. After long days out in the desert, coming back here felt like hitting pause — just silence, stars, and that special kind of stillness you only find in places like this. The hosts made the experience even better — super easy to communicate with, warm, and genuinely helpful without ever being intrusive. If you’re looking for a peaceful base with authentic desert character rather than polished luxury, this place gets it just right. We’d come back anytime.
This is one of my favourite holiday house finds ever! A beautiful example of vernacular architecture, built of of local materials and with framed views. The house was well equipped, comfortable and had the most amazing views, especially at sunset and sunrise. My only regret is not staying longer!
Isolement dans le désert mais assez proche de San Pedro avec la voiture Équipement très complet et ambiance agréable et chaleureuse dans la maison Vue à couper le souffle sur le Licancabur. Propriétaire très arrangeant

Areas to consider
Cleanliness
9/10Standard quality for this hotel tier.
Service
9.5/10Hosts described as warm, easy to communicate with and genuinely helpful without being intrusive.
Location
10/10Highly praised: tucked away and quiet, excellent for stargazing (Milky Way visible) with outstanding sunrise and sunset views.
Room Quality
8/10Mixed: well‑designed vernacular architecture, comfortable and well equipped with framed views, but bathroom/shower layout led to cold conditions and water only lukewarm; stove also failed to heat reliably.
Amenities
8.5/10Simple but functional: outdoor space and a mini fogón/fire pit are positives; however, the stove not heating and limited in‑room facilities lower the score slightly.
Value for Money
9/10Standard quality for this hotel tier.
Food and Beverage

Overall Experience
9/10Very positive overall: peaceful desert charm, simplicity done well, memorable views and a strong desire to return; hosts enhance the stay.
