Atenea - Optional Beach Club

The hotel is beautiful, and cozy, with spacious rooms and a wonderful sunset. Every morning, a freshly cooked breakfast was prepared in the kitchen, creating such a warm and homely atmosphere. During my whole trip through Mexico, I didn’t find a hotel as cozy and welcoming as this one. The host was incredibly kind and always made sure that we felt safe. He gave us excellent recommendations and made us feel completely at home. He was also very helpful and accommodating. I can only highly recommend this place! It truly felt like a home.

The host was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful, and genuinely made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, comfortable and very well looked after, with an absolutely amazing view. Waking up to that view every morning was unforgettable! Breakfast was another highlight — fresh, delicious and prepared with so much care. Honestly, one of the best breakfasts we’ve had during our travels. The location, rooms, views, hospitality, cleanliness and food were all exceptional. You can really tell how much care and attention the host puts into making every guest’s stay special. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. An outstanding hotel with an outstanding host — 10/10 in every way. We would return without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. En el hotel estás como en casa. Primero los dueños José y Mía. No pueden ayudar más. Son unas personas que van a hacerte la estancia lo más agradable posible. Gracias especiales a todas las trabajadoras que han sido muy amables. El hotel está limpio, con las camas y las sábanas estupendas. Tienen toalla de playa para prestarte. Agua por si necesitarás en algún momento. Tienes aire acondicionado, ventilador, mosquitera, gel de baño, champú, nevera en tu habitación. Si coges la habitación doble de dos camas de matrimonio tienes una cocina a tu disposición muy completa. La piscina está muy bien, ah y tienes barbacoa que también puedes usar. Las habitaciones son preciosas con sus terrazas y muy bien decoradas Nos ha encantado a todos. La playa a 1 minuto andando, una maravilla de playa, muy cerca de los flamencos y prácticamente vacía , por cierto, prestan sombrillas y sillas si lo necesitas!!!. Volveremos sin duda. Gracias

Nada.!!!!! Está a 20-25 minutos del pueblo, pero es lo que nos gusta a nosotros, mucha tranquilidad y si quiero salir pudo andar o coger taxi que en 5 minutos estás en el pueblo. Todo cerca para disfrutar tranquilidad o el pueblo y su vibra.

Das kleine familiäre Hotel von Jose und Mia ist unglaublich liebevoll und schön eingerichtet mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Jose hat uns einen Tag vorher kontaktiert und hat unsere Anreise auf die Insel organisiert. Die Betreuung durch ihn war durchgehend großartig. Schon am ersten Abend ist er mit uns zum Strand gegangen und hat uns die Bioluminestenz fernab vom Massentourismus gezeigt. Er war immer super schnell erreichbar und hat uns bei allem unterstützt. Das Frühstück haben wir individuell im Vorfeld bestellt, er ist auf alle unsere Wünsche eingegangen. Er hat für uns auch die Walhaitour vorreserviert zu einem sehr guten Preis und hat uns geholfen bei der Zahlung. Da wir an dem Tag sehr früh aufbrechen mussten, hat er unser Frühstück (Paninis) auf den Nachmittag verlegt und uns diese bei der Ankunft serviert. Das war toll, weil wir völlig erschöpft und hungrig waren. Der Garten ist sehr schön, man kann sich im Pool abkühlen oder den Sonnenuntergang von der Dachterrasse genießen. Der Strand ist nur wenige Meter entfernt, nah sind auch Beach Clubs verfügbar, die wir aber nicht in Anspruch genommen haben. Wer es etwas ruhiger mag und es in Kauf nimmt, dass er ins Zentrum fährt oder geht, ist hier richtig aufgehoben.

We had a wonderful stay at Altanea. The room was comfortable and the location is perfect, just a short walk from a beautiful beach. What made our stay truly special was our fantastic host. On our last evening, he took us to the sea to experience the magical bioluminescence while swimming. It was an unforgettable experience and the perfect way to end our trip. Thank you for your warm hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Altanea to anyone visiting the area!

The stay at Atenea place was truly exceptional! The room was just perfect, super cosy and comfy with air-con facilities. The host Jose is the sweetest person ever - very kind, helpful and super friendly. I honestly cannot wait to visit again! Many thanks foe your hospitality Jose 🤗

meneer was zeer vriendelijk, zeer behulpzaam, super verwelkoming. Zeer tevreden van de. Klanten service! Zeer hygiënisch, alles netjes. Gratis grote strandlakens. Airco werkt goed. Warm water. De mooie geving in het hite' en de vele gigantische zeeschelpen overal. Bed viel goed mee, zwembad viel goed mee. Lekker ontbijt! Wil zeker nog eens terugkomen maar dan wel een scooter of golfkar huren, je kan er niet zonder.

Het strand (veel schelpen) en de zee, je kan er niet echt zwemmen, zeer ondiep tot aan de knieën als je al heel erg ver in de zee bent gewandeld. . Het is afgelegen dus zeker een golfkar/fiets/scooter huren om naar het centrum te kunnen om inkopen te doen, cafés en naar een beter strand gaan.

L'accueil personnalisé, la gentillesse, la présence et l'aide apportée par les propriétaires. Les petits déjeuners qui étaient excellents. La beauté du terrain et de la chambre. L'endroit au calme à l'extérieur du centre. Je recommande à 100% et j'y retournerais.

모든게 다 좋았고 완벽했던 호텔이었어요😍 아테네아 호텔에서 정말 만족스러운 시간을 보냈습니다. 위치는 중심가에서 약간 떨어져 있어도 홀보쉬의 가장 아름다운 자연 해변과 매우 가깝고, 주변도 조용하고 평화로워서 편안하게 쉬기에 딱 좋은 곳이었습니다. 호텔 전체가 매우 깔끔하게 관리되고 있습니다. 수영장도 깨끗하고 이용하기 좋았고, 루프탑에서는 여유롭게 쉬면서 특히 저녁 석양을 보며, 분위기를 즐길 수 있어서 정말 좋았습니다. 객실 인테리어가 정말 예쁘고 아기자기하며 멕시코 감성이 잘 느껴졌어요.. 전체적으로 따뜻하고 아늑한 분위기라 머무는 동안 기분이 좋았습니다. 무엇보다도 청결 상태가 정말 인상적이었습니다. 보통 해변 근처 호텔은 모래와 바람 때문에 완벽하게 깨끗하게 유지하기가 쉽지 않은데, 아테나 호텔은 관리가 정말 잘 되어 있습니다. 어디를 봐도 깔끔하고 정돈된 느낌이었습니다. 특히 객실 안에서 맨발로 돌아다녀도 모래가 전혀 느껴지지 않을 정도로 깨끗해서 놀랐습니다. 작은 부분까지 신경 쓰고 있다는 것이 느껴져서 더욱 만족스러웠습니다..⭐ 그리고 무엇보다도, Mia & José, 호스트분들이 정말 친절하세요. 항상 미소로 맞아주시고, 손님들이 편안하게 지낼 수 있도록 세심하게 신경 써 주시는 것이 느껴졌습니다. 작은 부분까지 배려해 주셔서 머무는 동안 정말 기분이 좋았습니다. 따뜻하고 매력적인 분위기의 호텔이라 진심으로 추천합니다. 다음에 이곳에 다시 오게 된다면 꼭 다시 머물고 싶어요. 정말 좋은 추억을 만들고 갑니다. 😊

Voici une version encore plus forte et marquante pour Booking (style avis 10/10) : Nous avons passé un séjour absolument exceptionnel chez Mia et José. Tout était parfait du début à la fin. Ce sont des hôtes incroyables, d’une gentillesse, d’une générosité et d’une attention rares. On sent immédiatement qu’ils aiment recevoir et partager leur petit coin de paradis. L’endroit est magnifique, avec une vue tout simplement époustouflante. Se réveiller chaque matin face à un paysage aussi incroyable est un vrai privilège. L’atmosphère est paisible, chaleureuse et on s’y sent immédiatement bien. La chambre climatisée est parfaite, très propre et décorée avec goût. Le lit est très grand et confortable. Les petits-déjeuners préparés par Mia étaient délicieux, généreux et faits avec beaucoup d’amour. C’était un vrai moment de plaisir chaque matin. Un immense merci également à José, Sa gentillesse et sa disponibilité ont vraiment rendu notre séjour encore plus spécial. Nous repartons avec des souvenirs merveilleux et la certitude de vouloir revenir. Great ocean view from the room. Very spacious and clean room. Great hosts that were very supportive with every request and gave very good recommendations.

Jolie Plage a proximité. José sera toujours la pour vous pour quoique ce soit. L’eloignement de la ville en fait un lieu tres calme. La plage ou observer la bioluminescence n’est pas tres loin du logement.

They served a lovely breakfast made to order. Fresh ingredients and the best hot coffee. The breakfast was served on their beautiful garden patio, in beautiful surroundings. The hotel was lovely, and an excellent top deck to watch the sunsets from and a nice pool to cool off in after a hot afternoon. This is a very chill part of Holbox, away from the bustle of the little centro but just a few minutes away by golf cart taxi or bike! The hosts/owners Jose and Maria were amazing, looking after us with arranging restaurant suggestions, shuttle tickets and transportation. They even rescued us when I needed a quick trip to the pharmacy, thank you again😊🙏

We truly couldn’t find fault in anything!

The best stay in our Mexico trip, let me tell you why: - Quiet room! We slept in until 10 am easily. And we could also darken the room (pretty rare in Mexico!) - Great location! We rented some bikes and reached the island center within 10 minutes. But were far away to enjoy the peacefulness of the island. - Amazing bed, nice view from the rooftop terrace and an amazing host, Jose, who literally went above and beyond for our comfort.

Das war die schönste Hotel auf unsere Reise in Mexico und einen den schönsten Hotel überhaupt, wo wir waren! Wir haben uns so toll gefühlt, die Gastgeber - Mia und Jose - unglaublich das es sowas heute noch gibt’s! Alles perfekt durchgedacht und sehr persönlich! Sehr schöne Ambiente, tolle Lage, alles ist einfach perfekt! Wir haben entschlossen unbedingt noch mal hier zu kommen und etwas länger bleiben! Uneingeschränkt können wir empfehlen! Wir waren vor kurzem 4 Nächte dort als Paar - uns hat es wirklich sehr sehr gut gefallen! Kleine gemütliche Anlage, sehr gute Lage bisschen abseits trotzdem erreicht man auch zu Fuß alles. Der Gastgeber ist super nett und hilfsbereit! Die Zimmer sind total gemütlich eingerichtet man fühlt sich wie zu Hause und sind auch sehr sauber. Wir würden definitv immer wieder kommen. Danke Jose!

Great hosts (Mia and Jose) and other employees that really make you feel welcome, Very clean and serene hotel. The location was a surprise as the vibe around hotel is laid back and relaxing and beaches there are very nice compared to beaches closer to town.

Our time at Atenea Holbox was great! The hosts are so friendly! They try to do everything for you! The communication was awesome and the breakfast was delicious! Our room had a lot of space, was really clean and the furniture is comfortable. The accomodation is just a view steps away from the beach and it takes a nice 20 min walk to Holbox center. We would highly recommend booking it!

Host is incredibly caring and friendly. He goes out of his way to make sure his guests are comfortable. The rooms are big and nicely decorated. Plenty of drinking water, quality soaps, soft beach towels, lots of details that exceed the expectations. Only few steps to the beach snd very nice beach clubs. Punta Coco within a short distance.

Jose&Mia, Jose&Mia, Jose&Mia 🌸 Divni domacini, koji naprave sve da se osjecate kao da ste u hotelu sa 5* Pravi primjer dobrog domacina. Ispunili su sve nase zelje (a bilo ih je) Nama se svidjelo da smo dalje od centra, a blizu plaze, imali smo divan pogled na palme i plazu iz sobe.

La verdad que me gustó prácticamente todo..es hermoso , la cama es la mas cómoda que he probado en mi vida y las vistas son espectaculares. Pero lo más importante es el trato de Mia desde el momento de la llegada , te hace sentir super cómodo en todo momento.

Por poner un único pero , solo decir que la televisión estaba rota y no funcionaba. Pero la verdad quien viene a esta isla no es para ver la televisión jajaja.. solo que yo es una manía que tengo para dormirme.

It whas a beatifull room in a very nice building surrounded by a beautifull garden with a nice swimmingpool. The host José and his wife and staff were very friendly and helpfull. Anything you asked they arranged it. Realy a place to come back to.

What a beautiful room with all the little details you'd want to make a cosy and lovely stay! Jose and Mia are so accommodating and helpful - They went out of their way to speak to us and make sure everything was ok with our stay. They gave advice and helped to get any information we needed. As with anywhere isn Holbox there is construction nearby, however the rooms were pretty sound proof, so this did not impact our stay. We liked being outside of the town as we were away from the hustle and bustle. There is a beach less than 5 mins walk, with we pretty much had to ourselves - a beautiful spot. Thank you so much for having us!!

Friendly hosts who went over and above to make your stay enjoyable, Beach was 50 metres away and there were plenty of bars to keep you occupied and also the Pelicans! Watching them diving into the sea to feed in synchronisation was awesome

Nothing really,It’s in the quieter part of Holbox and a 20 minute walk to the centre or you can get a cart taxi for 200 Mexican pesos, if you do walk in the evening, you will need a torch,as the roads can be uneven and muddy conditions

Ein großes Dankeschön an Mia und José: Zwei Gastgeber, die mit echter Herzlichkeit, Aufmerksamkeit und viel Leidenschaft dafür sorgen, dass man sich nicht wie ein Gast, sondern wirklich willkommen fühlt. I’d prefer a door for the bathroom instead of the curtain, theres no privacy when you’re using the toilet

The rooms are clean and well-maintained, common area is nice, the host is very welcoming helpful and responsive.

The fact there are no doors in bathroom might be cute for couples, but a bit uncomfortable for a family... The hotel is far away from the center, which they state in description, but due to rainy season all streets around were flooded and unwalkable.

Das Hotel ist fantastisch. Die Zimmer sind geräumig, mit dem besten Ausblick. Sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Service, egal bei welchem Anliegen. Sehr gutes Frühstück, welches wir auf dem Balkon vom Zimmer genossen haben. Tolle Einrichtung mit Liebe zum Detail.

Die Klimaanlage im Zimmer ganz oben hat nicht gut funktioniert: kühlt kaum herunter und ist super laut, vor allem nachts kaum möglich nebenbei zu schlafen. Der Kühlschrank im Zimmer brummt zeitweise aber leider immer noch zusätzlich und noch mal lauter als die Klimaanlage. Diese Geräuschkulisse ist nachts sehr störend und man sicher recht einfach beheben.

The hotel itself is gorgeous, tastefully decorated, with views of the sea, in a quiet yet easily reachable location - and a lovely swimming pool; but what really stood out for me was the generosity and the hospitality of the owners. We were supposed to stay for one night but then I got ill. Jose and Mia kindly let me stay 2 more nights and only charged me for one. They also arranged for a doctor to come to the hotel and Mia also prepared food for me as I had a sensitive stomach. Thank you for everything; hoping to come back some day :)

Todo. Nos encantó completamente todo. Decoración, comodidad de la cama, baño... A la habitación no le faltaba ni un solo detalle, todo era bonito y funcional. En cada uno de estos detalles se podía apreciar el mimo y dedicación de los anfitriones. El exterior era una delicia. Múltiples zonas para descansar y disfrutar del entorno. La piscina muy cuidada. Había agua embotellada para su consumo, frigorífico, jarra, tazas...pero lo que más queremos resaltar es la atención de Mia y Jose. Estuvieron atentos en todo momento a nuestras necesidades, nos propusieron restaurantes, actividades, lugares...contratamos la excursión del tiburón ballena con un conocido suyo, por lo que nos inspiró más confianza. Tuvimos un pequeño problema de salud y nos ayudaron con el contacto del médico. Estamos enormemente agradecidos con ellos. Ellos hicieron nuestra estancia que fuera muy muy buena. Por cierto el acceso a la playa está justo en frente y es una zona tranquila y preciosa.

Todo fue espectacular. Nos pilló una oleada de mosquitos importante, pero por supuesto nada relacionado con el alojamiento.

Nos encantó todo. Ana y José, los propietarios, súper amables y atentos en todo momento. Repetiríamos sin dudarlo.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Mia en haar man. We waren in een klein paradijs terecht gekomen, wat een geweldige plek!! Alles was tiptop in orde, en Mia stond voor iedereen steeds ter beschikking... Heel rustig gelegen, ruime en nette kamers. Ongedwongen sfeer, we voelden ons er meteen thuis. Konden we er maar langer blijven!!

El trato personal de José y Mia. Muy atentos en todo. Ofreciéndose a darnos información de todo de logística sus consejos nos ayudaron mucho para movernos y sobre todo huir de los sitios de "turistas". Un diez. El alojamiento super bien.. mucha tranquilidad y aunque hay obras enfrente no molestan por los horarios y no hacen ruido..Si quieres tranquilidad es el sitio..a unos 20 minutos del centro y del bullicio. Pero se puede ir andando por la playa tranquilamente.

Nous avons adoré ce petit coin de paradis. La plage magnifique à 2mn à pied. Les chambres sont décorées avec goût, spacieuses. Rien ne manquait. La cuisine est également très pratique. Une belle piscine et un rooftop pour admirer le coucher du soleil complète ce lieu magique. Les hôtes Mia et José sont des amours. Ils se sont occupés de nous comme jamais nous avons été reçu, on s’est senti comme à la maison.

First of all the hosts Jose and Mia; they're extremely friendly and helpfull. They run the hotel with a lot of personal care and consideration. Besides that the garden and pool are great! It's a small and quiet place with a great athosphere. At 2 minute walking distance from the beach and close to a small shop and several restaurants. We had the large room above the kitchen for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect <large, good beds, nice shower, balcony, fridge, coffee etc. I would certainly recommend the place for a stay on Holbox. Very good value for money.

Nothing not to like ;) What could be a downside for some is that it's a bit further from the center / village; which comes with pro's and cons.

Atenea HolBox was amazing. Host Mia and Jose are really amazing and welcoming, they helped us to fulfillment our needs. The location is really peaceful, two minutes from a beautiful and quiet beach! Room was big and comfy, hot water perfect! The location is about 20 min walking from downtown, but is not an issue since taxi are always available via whatsapp or via Mia or Jose. Taxi charge a flat fee of $10 USD or 200 pesos mx anywhere in the island. We walked the beach from Atenea HolBox (Playa Punta Cocos) to Punta Mosquito and was an amazing walk, with lots of bars and restaurants a long! I asked for Ice first night and since Jose always text me if I need ice!! Luv it! Breakfast was great and served in our asked time. We would definitely book again in Atenea HolBox!! AMAZING SUNSET FROM BALCONY!

Loved everything. Very simple. Clean. Gorgeous location. One minute walk to the beach. There’s a beach club right in front that doesn’t have a minimum spend. It’s a fifteen minute walk to town down the beach and twenty minutes back by road if it’s high tide. So we had peace and quiet and also for some casual exercise. We also visited the local dog shelter right in the town next to the softball field. Is the nicest shelter I’ve been to and you can take the dogs for walks or just go and play with them. The have a big space to roam around and they don’t feel caged and miserable. Loads of tourists would stop in and take a dog out. It was gorgeous.

The location is peaceful, and the property is meticulously maintained. The owners & hosts, Jose and Mia, are warm, welcoming, gracious and incredibly responsive. They helped with all our questions and needs, transportation, excursions and restaurant recommendations. You will leave feeling well cared for, and that you have made new cherished friends.

I loved everything about Atenea. The only thing I would say is that maybe they could change up the breakfast offerings on occasion.

This hotel is an oasis of calm, friendliness, peace, and beauty. The host and hostess greeted us warmly, were great and responsive communicators, and our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was prepared to order each morning, on time, and was plentiful to begin a day on the island. The evenings were peaceful, the pool was clean and cool. There were lounge chairs outside to relax in, and plenty of space to take it easy.

In general, Holbox is an island that is in need of better infrastructure development. However, once on the beautiful, gorgeous, unique beach, it doesn't matter much. We stayed mostly on the beach side, and found ourselves a couple of great restaurants nearby that did not require much walking through the inner parts of town. I would recommend Atenea for its calm away from the central town.

The hosts were awesome, couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time. Organised taxis/excursions/meals with ease. The property is beautiful and quiet, rooms are airy and spacious and a 2min walk from beautiful beach. The walk to town is 20-25minutes. We enjoyed it and didn't use any taxis bar our trips to offload luggage. It's a nice stroll and in the day can be done along the beach, later in the day by foot as the tide comes in.

The hosts Mia & José were really welcoming and engaged to make our stay on the island Holbox the best. They had plenty of honest and great recommendations, not trying to convince us to do anything or making impossible promises but realistic and according to our wishes. It's like being in paradise. The room with sea view and the hotel with it's pool, rooftop and breakfast-option are beautiful. It has a calm surrounding and is just a minute walk to the beach. It's a bit off the beaten path, which was perfect for us, we prefered to have the empty white beach for us anyways and didn't mind the walks to get to the restaurants and shops. The center of Holbox seemed rather noisy and hectic.

5 stars all around! Jose and Mia are exceptional hosts—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely care about ensuring your satisfaction. As an architect, I appreciated the spacious rooms and the attention to detail in design and compliance. The hotel is just 2 minutes from the beach and close to the bioluminescent bay. We also enjoyed getting to know Jose and Mia better—they’re fascinating people. I highly recommend Atenea and thank them for their amazing hospitality!

It was quaint. The decor was natural, felt like home. Excellent access to ocean and food but remote also. The hosts were perfect!! So friendly and willing to be a help. LOVED IT HERE!!!

The hotel is very nicely furnished. The owners are super nice and supportive, speaks really good English. The hotel is not in the center, but you can reach the center within 30 minutes walk, although there are restaurants close to the hotel, so you don’t even need to go to the center. The beach, which is 100m from the hotel is very calm and the sea is beautiful.

The hotel is not too big and because of that it was much more easy to meet other guests. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. The daily breakfast was great as well. The hotel is located a bit far from the center but you can easily take a taxi. The hosts are so kind, helpful and welcoming. They always make sure you have everything you need! I would definitely come again!

José was one of those hosts that foes the extra miles for his customers. Great reception anfd help throughout our stay. Even enjoy a lobster meal and an early morning power training session on the rooftop.

It is nice and quiet here, but if you want to be in the centrum, it is a 15-20 min walk. But this is a good feature. No loud music or rowdy tourists.

The Rooms, The Location Everything Is Very Nice and Beautiful

Quiet location away from town, with beach and restaurants nearby. Arrange for bike rental with the owners and everything is a short ride away. Clean, well maintained facilities and best hospitality.

To me this hotel is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the sunrise, sunset and everything else Holbox offers.The rooms in this place are brand new, beautiful design, spacious with balcony’s. The pool , the rooms and the entire place is very clean something very important to me . The customer service is 100% satisfaction. They offers free ride from the ferry , they explain everything I needed to know about this unique island. This hotel is steps away from restaurants, beach clubs and I was very happy to walk around and discover that Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean see are getting connected right there very near , bare foot walking distance . I’ll be back soon for more days exactly to hotel Atenea just because I fall in love with Holbox, with the hospitality of the management of this hotel, and definitely because of everything else I just share with the future guests. I’m happy to recommend highly this location and this hotel and I’m responsible for my review ❤️🦶🏝️ It’s not a regular place where you go to sleep it’s place that offers so much more. It feels the owners care a lot about us, the tourist to have full experience not only to offer us place not to get wet if it’s raining. Located by right the beach with amazing views from The hotel room and access to rooftop! Perfect for morning yoga, a workout, or just admiring sunrise and sunset :). The hotel is brand new, clean, comfy and has everything you need. Very soft towels! IThe staff is very friendly and accommodating! Walking distance to downtown. I can't wait to stay here again!
