Lovely location with beautiful views. The tent is comfortable modern and well equipped with everything you could need.

Terrible not what is advertised
Clean tent
Refreshing and one with nature
Not a lot of options on the menu
Amazing receptionist over the entire weekend, she was really professional. Amazing views of Cathedrial peak with the snow on
The aircon was bitterly cold and even though the setting showed 30 degrees it was blowing 12 degrees. Ordered and prepaid breakfast for the two days only to find out they do not cook it, so we had to fetch it and cook it ourselves, as was too much for the price they charge per head, if delivery requested they charge R50. To heat up the tub was an additional R300 and it was not even cold, the next day I made the fire and the tub was still hot the next morning when we jumped in at at 7am.
Staff were fantastic, place has magical views and is well situated in Drakensberg. You can drive 10/15 minutes for stunning hiking trails and 10 minutes for bakeries or shops. The tent itself was clean and got cleaned everyday (braai and hot tub).
Nothing.
Restaurant was correct.
7 graden in tent.
Fantastic location and facilities, the perfect way to camp in complete comfort in the cold! The location was close to a lot of sights, activities and food spots and everything that you need is at the lodge including a restaurant and spa. The hot tubs are amazing, we really enjoyed our stay there
They did not specify that the hot tub needed wood that we had to purchase, the wood alone costed so much, we could have brought our own wood which is R15 a bag compared to R60 at the camp
The camp was clean and comfortable. Had a fireplace as well as an Aircon so kept the tent very warm. A big plus factor is the hot tub and braai area. Lady who cleaned the tent was very helpful and friendly.
Sad to note that customer care more so when expected from a reputable company that claims to go the extra mile in making your holiday as comfortable as possible doesn't seem to be priority. It looks like africamps wishes to squeeze the client of every bit of money that they can for simple services which generally other resorts would offer as part of customer care. It was really shocking to note that when firewood was requested from reception there was a delivery charge of R50 whereas my tent was literally a matter of few step from the reception. Generally one would expect at least one pack of complimentary firewood and a pre heated hot tub considering the cold winters and the time taken to heat up the tub after arrival. However it was to my utter amazement that there was a fee of R300 added on for pre heating your tub. I think it would also fit under boutique glamping that a complimentary bodywash and shampoo/conditioner be added in the bathroom.
The property was so clean and neat. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the peace and quiet.
The hot tub and a decent trail. Loads of nature and wonderful views. Friendly staff. Nice yet scary sounds of nature at night 😊.
No soaps and lotion provided. Unlock-able tent. They should have provided some wood for the hot tub considering the price we paid.
The location an the view was excellent. Out of experience Hot tubs need a lot of wood and patience to get going …. This one worked like a charm.
No shower gel to use and the towels was nice but far to small…. Especially when you used the hot tub . Better colrh for washing the dishes.
Spacious and open
Staff want the best!
I am happy with my stay
The views
Peaceful. Clean. Relaxing. Facilities work well at the venue.
Nothing
We stayed in tent Number 7. The hot tub is the main attraction for glamping. Loved the quiet serene atmosphere. Awesome place to relax and chill Loved the fully equipped kitchen. Beds were stunningly comfortable. The tent is very well maintained. I wish to know the secret of how is it kept termite free despite all that wood lol Lots of birds. A binocular would be a great tool to bring with.
It was our 1st experience with africamp, was hoping to be briefed a bit more in detail at the reception. Wood can be purchased on your own from wherever one desires and the tub can be made hot on your own. We were only told about the 300 rand fee for the pre heating by the staff. Wi-Fi would be a good addition in the camps One really useful thing would be a thermometer in the hot tub. It would be very practical to have one as it can help with the water temperature regulation. As heart patients or low pressure patients have to be careful for health reasons, a thermometer to gauge the water temperature would be an awesome addition. The eco pool understandably is chemical free, would add to its beauty a touch of clean and clear bottom and inner wall linings. The carrom board in the game room can use an upgrade for the striker.
When you book on Booking.com they only allow you to take guest according to your search results eg. I searced 2 guest, africamps camp was for 5 people, misleading you to take extra guests and when you get there you have to pay extra for the "extra" guests you've taken. Extremely misleading.
Can never go wrong with africamp for a comfortable glamping. We have been to Mpumalanga camp. And the standard is still the same. Absolutely stunning. This one was even better because it had a hot tub
Vodacom was out of service most of the time, I don’t know if it was the location or Vodacom.
The hot tub.
Neighbors were a bit loud
we changed our minds and did not have the breakfast, location was amazing.
the pan was so old the handle was falling off, the plastic spatula has been burnt by previous people so many times the plastic was peeling off when making eggs for breakfast, they could have at least given us a new spatula and pan for the cost of the stay, i was scared of dropping the pan the handle was so rickety, perhaps look into making sure all pots and pans and cutlery are in good condition, they were no longer non stick, everything got stuck and the eggs broke when lifting out the pan as it was in such a bad state. i think a complimentary clean every 3 days is way better and on the 5th day, it just makes for a better restful stay.
They provided everything you need for a self catering stay down to the cooking oil.
Could still hear the traffic from tge main road
A must experience place.
A beautiful and peaceful place. Very convenient near all activities.
Must see place, great facilities, breakfast and brau basket really nice, nice hot tub and amazing view
Great stay Great hot tub Great views
The cottage setup was tidy and comfortable.
The staff were great, and the rooms comfortable, the view awesome and the hot tub a hit. When the whole Valley had an extended water outage, they brought up filled containers for the toilets and drinking water. They also offered for us to come shower at the main lodge. They accommodated me on another request regarding a booking at the Spa, and I really appreciated that. Worth a stay!
Each unit should really have water backup for toilets only, for the price (will not be a common problem though). NOT a Africamps Champagne Valley issue, and I understand that its an Africamps Group policy (probably), but the wording of the Do's & Don't could be softened a bit, if it is going to be sent on multiple occasions, as it comes across as a blunt and not fitting of a Boutique Glamping establishment.
The accommodation was beautiful and serene
The price of items at the shop was quite expensive
The tent itself was good however it missed a few key features that would have made the stay more comfortable.
Firstly, the surroundings our tent was unkept, grass was overgrown, there was a lot of alien vegetation, generally the area was untidy. The there was the tent itself which was nice however the lighting especially in the kitchen was poor especially t when one used the stove or washed-up dishes. The couch in the living space was very uncomfortable, and the braai didn't have a built in light so when I braaied at night I had use a torch to see what I was doing.
The tents were well equipped, comfortable and well situated with beautiful views of the every changing mountains
Nothing
Het uitzicht was fantastisch.
beautiful views 🤞and my best moments were in hot tub definitely will be back soon
No breakfast was offered
For a long term stay would not suggest you buy meat as no freezer available and ended up losing some of our meat. They did offer 1 bag of ice and additional cooler box.
Beautiful view
Host was extremely dismissive when we complained about it being noisy. Before arrival they send out all the property rules including "no music allowed" and when people were playing loud music and we complained, we got told - "it is out of our control". Host knew we were having an unpleasant stay and they didn't seem to care. The only thing they worried about was their inspection at check out to ensure we had washed all our dishes and didn't take anything with us. The property shares two different lodges, Africamps which is considered a premium boutique glamping experience which comes at a premium rate - on the same property is a different lodge with really inexpensive accommodation. You have two very different target markets that pay very different rates sharing a property - this is not ideal. Previously stayed at different Africamps and enjoyed it - this was awful. Will never stay at this property again!
Views, services, the chalet
The water issues
Wonderful view and beautiful experience of watching Stars from hot tun
Information about hot tub heating time could be more accurate. Reception suggested to install App to receive Basic Information
The Location was stunning. The stay was wonderful. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Pricing on water and fire wood.
Beautiful views of the magnificent mountains. It’s a close distance to the Monks Cowl Hiking Site and other activities.
The dirt road and muddy pathways caused by the rain. The mud caused plenty of sludge creating difficulty when driving and parking.
Excellent location. It was nice to have a restuarant available at the property for breakfast/lunch.
Suppers were excellent and we loved the lamb curry and our waitress was very accommodating.
Daily cleaning service included would have been appreciated
Incredible view, well equiped accommodation. Lovely area to explore.
Its a tough one to note as I know the area has been blessed with summer rains but there was a weed eater going every afternoon we were there - not exactly a restful sound and disturbed any chance of an afternoon nap
The scenery, the accommodation and the tranquility of the location.
The tents were a little too close to one another. It would be better if it is more spaced out. There were no disturbances, however it would just be nicer if it was more isolated from other guests .
Lovely breakfast
I can't fault anything
The hot tub was nice. The place is not that great for small children, especially over long stays. If the play area had a tv set, that would have made it better.
The flies and spiders. During our stay, there were too many flies. We found a spiderweb in the shower and bedroom ceiling and a huge spider above our bed. The grass was overgrown, making it not possible for our children to play outside. When it rained, the parking area became very muddy.
Peace with nature
The views and the overall experience was exceptional. Sitting in the hot tub overlooking the mountains were the highlight!
I would have liked a bigger fridge / freezer. The food we packed didn't fit in the fridge.
- besonderer Ausblick - Essensmöglichkeiten und Abhol-Frühstück - Hot-Tub - tolle Ausstattung in der Küche - sehr hilfsbereites Personal
The hot tub was great, aircone in the room is nice, shower is nice and big
No complentary wood, no umbrella as advertised, the fact that you have to wash and clean the dishes before check out, they DO NOT wash dishes before the next check-in. If we knew that we would washed it before we used it. Don't know how clean the previous guests washed the dishes.
It would have been nice if some firewood was provided, considering the price of the stay.
