Large room with big bathroom, very clean and tidy. The family are so kind and generous. They welcomed me in like family! The food was also delicious. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Thomasz y su mujer son adorables. Sitio acogedor à un muy buen precio con un desayuno delicioso preparado con mucho amor y cariño por su mujer. Fui para 1 dia y me quede 5. Un sitio muy recomendable

Le lit double n’est vraiment pas très large et le matelas tout fin, pas d’isolation sonore (les murs ne vont pas jusqu’au plafond, pas une vrai isolation visuelle de la rue : le soir quand la lumière est allumée vous etes visible de la rue par les gens (rideau en crochet)

Ganz tolles Pärchen, sehr warmherzig und liebevoll. Sie kümmern sich um jedes auftretende Problem und sind mir sehr entgegengekommen. Toller kleiner Garten, um eine Hängematte aufzuhängen :) Gastfreundschaft auf einem hohen Level!

Viele Ameisen im Bad, anfangs kein Internet, keine Privatsphäre in dem einen Raum wegen offener Wände zum Dach hin. Es gibt aber auch Räume die komplett geschlossen und ruhiger sind mit mehr Privatsphäre.

Приятная дорога до пляжа . Половину пути можно пройти по деревне, а не по дороге. Хозяева отзывчивые, помогали со всем о чем просила.

Очень аутентичное жилье. Сквозь дырки между стеной и потолком пролезают все пролезающие . Так как стены не глухие , всё слышно как на улице. Нет горячей воды. Но еще раз повторяю, хотите больше - платите больше )))

The couple who runs the guest house is super nice and makes very good food. Very local, quiet and beautiful neighbourhood.

Best value for the price and the cutest couple goals hosts. The room is basic (fan only) with big bathroom ensuite. The hosts are just fantastic super helpful, sweet and cooked deli local food

On first impression this family seems nice and intelligent. Especially the husband, a very smart man you can talk to about almost anything.

But later, I caught the woman (Nalini) entering my room while I was out. Whenever I asked them to respect my privacy, she would get angry saying:our house-our rules. No manners, no understanding, just narrow village thinking with no sense of proper behaviour. Then, while I was in my room (wearing only a bra and pants because rooms are extremely hot and ceiling fans don’t help), Nalini barged in without knocking, started showing me to her son over a video call (I had to wear my T-shirt insanely quickly) and showing him my room, of course without permission. When I got angry (as anyone would), she started kicking me out, insulting and literally abusing me, calling me crazy and that everyone knows it (nonsense, of course). She threw away the gifts I had given them, called me a bitch with a bad heart, and kept repeating: our house-our rooms-our rules. Be careful, she enters your room without permission, and think it’s totally normal. Also while she refunded my stay, she didn’t return the full amount and refused to pay the rest. They constantly talk about money. So it’s clear why: she just kept it. When I asked to pay back I got heavy insults and abuse in my face. Also, while staying, she used to take out things from my garbage bags: really old things, dirty jars, and so on. All my trash I used to find around that house. No privacy with it as well. Rooms are stuffy, old, dirty, insects are everywhere, spider nets, the kitchen is smelly and terrible and the whole place is just poor rural brutal housing :))) I can’t say anything bad about the husband (Thomasz), although a bit foxy but still well-mannered and understanding person.

The most kind and generous hosts who make you feel right at home, going above and beyond in all areas! Good location within walking distance of the beach and 100m from a small corner shop.

A comfortable and homey place to stay. You'll have a private room with a separate entrance, which adds to the convenience. The bed is comfortable and comes with a mosquito net. The private bathroom has a cold shower. Every morning, you'll be treated to delicious breakfast.

The couple hosting is simply wonderful—attentive and not overbearing. I broke my foot while staying there, and they helped (arranged transportation and even accompanied me without hesitation) with everything. I couldn’t have had better support. They prepare amazing home-cooked meals and even do laundry that comes out smelling fresh. They set up a table and chair in the garden for me. It is a classic Sri Lankan style home with Sri Lankan sheets and pillows and an overhead fan. A great experience to have!

For me, I need to have more western amenities after a few days. But I always love getting out of my comfort zone on occasion. And Anthony and Nalani make the experience that much better!

Please note that this is not a hostel, but a separate room in the owners' house with its own separate entrance. If you decide to stay here, you will immerse yourself in the real authentic atmosphere of Sri Lanka! A wonderful local family who will take care of you 24/7. They will feed you very tasty and hearty food, communicate with you, help with everything! Kabalana beach is within walking distance, where there is great surfing. I highly recommend this place for real travelers who love a real atmosphere, not tourist pathos. P.S. I liked it so much that I decided to extend my stay there for another 4 days. Such a lovely family and community here. I wish I could have stayed longer. If you want to have a family away from your own family whilst you are on your travels this is the place to stay. I hope one day I can return again. Thanks for the wonderful stay and all the lovely food too!

The food is extraordinary. I got a huge and delicious breakfast and Nalini even made me some vegetable Roti for my travels. Tomasz and Nalini are very kinds and caring.

Outstanding hosts, great dinner, amazing value for money

It’s not a hotel so keep that in mind when you’re booking.

Lovely couple are hosting me like as a family:) I ended up stayed there for 3 nights. They cooked for breakfast and dinner(optional) I really loved it. They’re always caring, smiling, i had good time during my stay. It’s good experience to stay with Sri Lankan family:)) it’s really affordable so perfect for backpackers.

Wifi wasn’t stable since they using hotspots, if they are gone I couldn’t use it.

It's and very bad experience for me as a tour chauffeur first time I was facing like this problem. They contacted me over the phone and ask am I Sinhalese,Tamil or Muslim. My reply was I'm a Sri Lankan,they Replied no room for Sri Lankans. I was so confused and worried lot afte that.

Staying here is just great! First of all its close to the busstop, trainstation and to the beach and the centre. Then the hostst, both super nice people who make you feel at home. They make you breakfast and if you want also lunch and dinner. I helped cooking dinner and it was a lot of fun making rice and curry. Now I know how to do that at home. The rooms are clean and big which is also great.

Nali and Thomas are incredible hosts! they’re so nice and make amazing breakfast! felt like part of the family. Also good location for surfing!

One of the kindest family's ive had the pleasure of staying with! Amazing food, perfect location, beautiful neighbourhood. If your after some local love, id highly recommend this place. I stayed here for over 3 weeks and I became part of the family!

Lovely couple who takes care of you. Free coffee and tea very hospitable

The most authentic homestay experience I've had in Sri Lanka.  Located nicely in a quiet village, no noise of traffic at night. Good surf spots are within walk distance. There is a little boutique shop right nearby selling essentials, snacks and ice cream.  Mr.Thomasz is such a character. Friendly, talkative, humorous and intelligent. He can tell you many interesting stories of Sri Lanka.  Nalini cooks the best dishes. She happily invited us to the kitchen and showed us the authentic Sri Lankan cooking. Dinner is also available for very reasonable price.  From the moment you arrive here you feel like a part of the family and the community. Village kids playing cricket in the neighborhood greet you with big smiles. Monkeys, lizards, birds and fireflies visit the garden frequently. It's just a perfect place to come home after a day of surfing or sightseeing.  I recommend Thomasz House for anyone seeking a true local life experience in Ahangama area.

If you stay here you will feel like visiting family. They take really good care of you! The price and the food is also unbeatable. And I had some really good sleep there, it's located in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood and gets some fresh air in the nights.

The friendly host family let me prepare my own breakfast with their ingredients as I am not a big fan of Sri Lankan breakfast dishes. It is not all too far located from the city centre.

I booked for two nights but did not sleep a single night at this place because it was unbearable. The room was filled with flies and mosquitos. Besides that, the roofs were open so when I tried sleeping the first night, I heard someone else's extremely unpleasant snorting. During midday, you hear everyone else's conversation in the house.
