The Mathstone

A beautiful little unit attached to the main house. Very clean and comfortable. The bed is fit for a princess it is so soft and comfy. Sam and Linden were very informative in all their info with local brochures available and even games. Their dog was very friendly and our dogs loved to say hi. The orchard is a lovely walk with an amazing view and river walk at the back. Will definitely book this again if in the area.

The hosts where very friendly and accommodating for our dog.

The facility was large with a generous sized bedroom, a beautiful bathroom with a powerful shower and a separate dining/ sitting room. The property was huge on the banks of the Kawerau River but the cherry trees were fun to walk through.

We wished we had more time there.

Lovely quiet property. Very good space for two people and a dog. Everything was spotlessly clean. The shower was hot and powerful. Good communication before we arrived and also good information at the property about how things work; tv, wifi,etc,. Also local map of walks and attractions.

The breakfast was pretty basic; cereal and four slices of bread for toast for two days but didn't detract from the overall experience.

Excellent hosts made us feel very welcome including Pluto our dog. Fantastic location to walk along the river or bike. Property was warm & had everything we needed.

Modern, clean, comfortable and warm. Got what you need in the little kitchenette for breakfast options. Lovely location, lots of info available for your stay and around the area. The hosts are friendly and helpful, easy to contact if you have a question. It's a great atmosphere with the animals around and the farm in the background. Really liked the bathroom and the option of a bath.

Ein absolutes Schmuckstück! Unglaublich stilvoll und schick eingerichtet. Vor allem das Badezimmer ist wie eine kleine Wellness-Oase. Bett sehr sehr gemütlich. Viel Liebe zum Detail. Kommunikation einwandfrei. Kann man definitiv empfehlen!

Ort selbst hat nicht so viel zu bieten, aber man ist vermutlich eh nur zur Durchreise da. Keine richtige Küche vorhanden und nur ein paar Basics wie Tee oder Kaffee. Man muss sich also selbst versorgen können, aber das ist vermutlich eh klar.

Quiet place, a few hundred meters from the state highway. The book with the information in the room gave all the needed information: presentation of the owners, their pets and their activities. It also mentioned the activities to do in the area, what to visit, where to eat, etc ... I had the opportunity to talk with the owner and speak about our journey around New Zealand - it's always pleasant to exchange with the local people when travelling abroad.

Nothing - it was very good. Just one small improvement : update your information book with the correct WiFi password, as the internet access has recently changed

The setting is rural and very peaceful. The bathroom was beautiful and shower water pressure amazing.

The breakfast was toast & cereal which we were fine with. We arrived later in the evening so we didn´t get to see the orchard. Also loved the repurposing of a wardrobe into a mini kitchen. Sam showed great attention to detail with little chocolates on the pillows.

Shower was the best in NZ!

Die Wohnung war funktionell, sauber und offensichtlich frisch renoviert. Gutes Bad mit Dusche und Badewanne. Ruhige Lage etwas außerhalb von Cromwell.

Die Küchenausstattung war leider nicht zeitgemäß. Man musste sich Wasser aus dem Bad holen und in einer Spülschüssel abwaschen. Es fehlten u.a. Lappen und weitere Trockentücher. Das war schade.

A great semi-rural setting in a cherry vineyard (friendly pet goats and deer to pet) , very clean and tidy living space. Hosts were friendly and reachable when needed. Great amenities, TV and streaming, an amazing modern bathroom (with bath salts and candle). Bed was exceptionally cosy and clean,

We were under the impression we would have the whole building to ourselves (not aware that it was joined to the host living area), however they were perfectly respectful of our privacy and we felt comfortable coming and going as we pleased.

Thanks so much guys! We’ll definitely be back. The location is awesome, having the orchard and the animals makes for a lovely and peaceful spot, the local info supplied on places to eat and things to do was super helpful, the accomodation itself is tidy, comfortable, pretty and well kitted out. The hosts were top notch - great for a yarn and more info, super friendly and helpful with anything we needed. My only problem giving you 10/10 is everyone else might book you out before we get a chance to next time 😂

The property just exceeded our expectation. It was so homey and relaxing to be leaving temporarily in a cherry orchard. The house was clean, complete with facilities and with free breakfast! Amazing! The host was also very accommodating and generous to give us cherries from her farm. Thank you!

No sink, no tea towel, bed could do with an upgrade

Very clean and well sized, excellent hot showers.

No sink in the kitchen/ cupboard, so had to wash dishes in the bathroom or a plastic tub. Some breakfast provisions, but very limited cutlery.

Very clean, spacious and modern. You had everything you needed for your stay. They also have a very beautiful friendly cat that came to say hi to us.

No proper way to adjust temperature if you want it warmer - there was a small fan heater but you couldn’t sleep with that on.

Beautiful property, very well appointed accommodation. Everything you could possibly need for a short stay, this accommodation is more than just a bedroom- there is a separate bedroom, bathroom and lounge/kitchen area. All meticulously clean and beautiful

A little far out of town, with no nearby amenities

Private and quiet location. The very modern accommodation has a separate bedroom, bathroom and sitting/breakfast area. The breakfast provided (bread, milk, spreads, jams and cereal) was a nice touch. Very friendly hosts and a great place to stay if you like animals (dog, cats, goats, sheep, deer). There are plenty of things to see and do within driving distance and a good choice of places to eat and drink as well. The shower was very nice.

That we had to leave and go back to Auckland.

Great location, nice farm and lots of friendly animals around. Decent stay overall !! The room was clean, the bathroom was well equipped and the slices of bread for the morning were a nice touch. They even let us check in a little early and check out a little late. Very accommodating hosts !!

Apparently there were two Airbnbs at the property. We were supposed to be staying at the bigger one but due to a misunderstanding ended up checking into the smaller one. Only found out late at night by which point it was too late to change rooms. But, to be honest, it takes nothing away from our stay with the hosts. We misinterpreted the information provided probably.

We had an amazing night and wished we could have stayed four more! Linden and Sam were both really lovely and they have a menagerie of fabulous animals.

Immaculate and modern and in an excellent location. Can't fault my stay at the Mathstone thank you. Lovely selection of breakfast materials included also. I will definitely stay at the Mathstone again the next time I'm touring the south island. Nicely turned out bnb.

Everything was perfect.

In particular our hosts, who are delightful, helpful and extremely generous - thank you for the feast of cherries. The sheep, goats, chickens, dog and even the young deer were pleased to greet us.

Private and quiet location, it takes about 9 mins to get into town by car. There are lots of pet animals to see which are very friendly. The accommodation had everything I needed and is very well fitted out.

I would like to have chatted to Sam and Linden about their life on the farm but unfortunately my stay was only overnight.

The property was amazing, well appointed and situated. Owners were lovely and animals and orchard added to the experience.

I've been travelling a lot in NZ. Stayed in vwey good places, but this one was the best so far. Nothing to complain, I definetely encourage you to give it a go. There will be no regrets. The owners are kind and veey tidy people. Their place has a lot of space, and the animals juat add up so much to it. Plus the cherry orchard they have. Awesome choice for you seeking for a bit of rest.

Perfect stay, the suite was really clean and offered a nice bedroom, a brand-new bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub, and a living room with TV and kitchen equipment (microwave and fridge + some coffee, food etc.) The breakfast was nice as well (home-made cherry jam from the orchard and bread, milk, cereals...) Sam & Linden (and Ted, a lovely dog) were really nice and welcoming. They offered us a tour of the cherry orchard and gave us a box full of cherries before we left. Many thanks for the lovely and restful time we spent at The Mathstone!
