Traditional House Rovaniemi

The host was waiting for us when we arrived. He was extremely friendly, welcoming and easy to talk to. He told us the story of the house and the people who built it, which gave our stay a special character and made us feel the atmosphere of the place even more. The house was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we could need during our stay. We were also pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of products that had been left for us for breakfast. This place has a unique atmosphere, and thanks to the host, our stay became much more than just an overnight stay. We would definitely recommend it.

Patiko namelis, kaip koks pasakų :) yra ir kičinių elementų, bet visumoje jauku, nieko netrūko. Labai svetingas šeimininkas, kuris ir davė patarimų, ir pripasakojo istorijų. Gausus pusryčių pasirinkimas. Įskaičiuota ir patalynė bei rankšluosčiai, kas tikrai nėra standartas Suomijoje. Gražus kiemas. Gaila apsistojome tik 1 nakčiai, bet lūkesčiai pateisinti su kaupu, tikrai atitinka ir ankstesnius teigiamus komentarus. Apsistojome su šuniu.

Inget varmvatten, gick inte att duscha eller tvätta sig!! Ingen stekpanna, Städningen var undermålig då vi hittade en läkemedelstablett på golvet!!! Inte okej!!. Dålig kvalitet på kaffet, kokkaffe till kaffebryggare! Beskrivningen om välfyllt skafferi stämde inte överhuvudtaget, halvtomma mjölkförpackningar, juiceförpackningar och flingpaket! Kallt i huset ingen värme påslagen innan vi anlände.

Beautiful traditional cottage. The only problem is that during the night a slat in the bed came loose, making it impossible to sleep. When I pointed this out to the staff, they told me I shouldn't have used duvet sheets because they now had to wash six of them (??? I don't understand). It's a shame to ruin everything over a trivial matter.

Nos dejaron multitud de cosas para comer, Jannis nos explicó lo que hacer por la zona y recomendó sitios para visitar y comer. Excelente casa y lugar.

En Jannis ens va rebre amb molta amabilitat i ens va explicar moltes coses sobre la casa i les tradicions sami. Ens va deixar molt de menjar. La casa ideal per a famílies, amb un jardí on jugar a la neu. La sauna fantàstica després d'un dia de fred. Tot molt agradable i confortable. Gràcies!

Welcomed upon arrival by Yannis and his wife and given a wonderful in-site to the house and Rovaniemi. Some beautiful home made pastries by his wife and plenty of choice for breakfast. Beds were super comfy and the property was very clean and well looked after. Shop only a few minutes walk from the property so very handy. Could not fault anything had an amazing time!

Obiekt pięknie zlokalizowany pośród Fińskich domków :) okolica idealna na spacer w zimowej aurze. Możliwość skorzystania z sauny, a następnie z kąpieli w śniegu, była bardzo ciekawym doświadczeniem. Gospodarz bardzo sympatyczny i elastyczny.

Casa tradizionale Sami meravigliosa, ogni dettaglio è perfetto. Spaziosa, bella, abbondante colazione, stanze ben organizzate, sauna interna e meraviglioso spazio esterno. Jannis è stato davvero super! Ci ha spiegato la casa, le tradizioni finlandesi, ci ha dato supporto in tutto ed è stato estremamente gentile e disponibile. Super consigliata!!!!

When we were 46 minutes late than the agreed time the host got very rude on the phone telling us that finish people are law abiding people and respect rules we were driving 200k in weather we were not used too and it sounded like we were criminals for this after paying 350 euro for one night

De tudo. Da casa, do piano, da decoração, da neve lá fora, do anfitrião que foi adorável e conversador.

Gostei de tudo. Só não consegui colocar a sauna a funcionar mas não quis incomodar o anfitrião mas de resto tudo cinco estrelas. Recomendo e se um dia voltar vou voltar a esta casa

There are no words to describe the incredible time we had in the Traditional House in Rovaniemi. Everything was perfect, the house is very cosy and well equipped (including sauna). Jannis, the host one of a kind, made our stay the best possible. House is located ca 100m from bus stops (to Santa Village and city centre).

Super Lage. Nähe Flughafen. Schön gelegenes Ferienhaus. Super netter Gastgeber. Urig eingerichtet.

Kein separates Badezimmer vorhanden. Nur eine duschgelegenheit in der kleinen Saunaecke.

The property was perfect. Everything we need for our short trip. Kids loved that there was a garden to play in the snow. Conveniently located near the airport, Santa Claus village and the main town. Host was wonderful and very helpful. Pastries his wife made were amazing and greeted us with such warmth and kindness. Have already recommended to friends and family

La casa è stata un alloggio ben oltre le nostre aspettative: sembrava davvero di vivere dentro una favola. Ho adorato le grandi finestre presenti in ogni stanza, perfette per ammirare gli alberi e il panorama in qualsiasi momento, di giorno o di notte. I miei bambini si sono divertiti tantissimo ogni mattina nel cortile, e Ioannis è stato gentilissimo: ci ha portato persino due slitte per farli giocare nella neve. Tutto è stato curato nei minimi dettagli, compreso il trovare Netflix già impostato in italiano. Un’altra cosa che ci ha colpiti è stato il frigo: pieno di tutto ciò che serve per una colazione perfetta — latte, prosciutto, salame, toast, frutta, snack e una selezione di porridge. La posizione è ideale: circa 10 minuti da tutto — aeroporto, centro città e Villaggio di Babbo Natale. Siamo stati così bene che penso proprio torneremo il prossimo anno.

I cannot recommend this place enough. It feels like whatever I say, it won't be enough. From the moment we met Jannis to the moment we went to the airport to leave Rovaniemi, he did everything to make us feel comfortable and cozy. He did much more than you'd expect a normal host to do. He played with my kids, showed them different things, advised us, and helped us with transport. The house, the environment, Jannis - they all shout "Christmas." This man has a mission - to make children happy and to keep the belief in Christmas for as long as possible. His big heart will make your stay unforgettable and a lifetime experience. For us, it was just one booking, but now I feel like we've met a friend for life. Thank you, Jannis, for all the joy and happiness that you brought to our family by making our stay in Rovaniemi so magical and unforgettable.

This traditional finnish house with its garden, set in a quiet and neat neighborhood, at 5 minutes drive from downtown Rovaniemi, is a real beauty. The building is old but very well kept, and made comfy and practical as far as the structure allows. Rooms are large and niclely decorated (although old style), cleanliness is far above finnish standards, and a modern heating plant makes it easy to adjust each room to your personal comfort. Amd now the best part: Ioannis is the most welcoming, friendly and careful host you can ever meet. He loves to take care of his guests, and is happy to do and say whatever can make you feel welcomed. He stocked the house with plenty of all sorts of food (allowing us to have 2 full breakfasts and a lunch at home), we is ready to tell you everything about history, traditions, locations, but in a discrete and respectful way. Communications with Ioannis are a pleasure, and he can reach you, if needed, in no time. We had a wonderful time, and will come here again, if we can ❤️

Merveilleux séjour chez Jannis. Jannis aime sa maison et prend le temps de nous expliquer, de façon très intéressante, l'histoire de la maison. La maison traditionnelle est pleine de charme et d'authenticité, sans lésiner sur le confort moderne. Le petit déjeuner est formidable. Nous recommandons à 100% !

Le fait d'être en immersion dans une maison construite et habitée (précédemment) par des Samis, le sauna au feu de bois, la localisation parfaite pour nous (entre le centre et le village du père Noël), notre hôte Ioannis, très accueillant et qui partage volontiers la culture locale.

Rien de notable, nous avons vraiment apprécié notre séjour.

Todo fue perfecto, Ioannis es una persona encantadora y nos lo facilitó todo. La casa estaba completamente equipada, las camas son cómodas e incluso hay comida a disposición de los huéspedes.

Abbiamo trovato un frigo pieno di cose da mangiare, nonostante dovessimo soggiornare solo per una notte! Tutto veramente perfetto! Super consigliatissimo e ottima posizione per visitare il villaggio di Babbo Natale!

Meet by John at check in who showed us around the house , lots of nice local treats left for us plus milk , eggs , juices , bread ect, which was nice . Good location to explore the area with a car, we had two cars and off street parking was great, good communication before and during stay . The house was older and a little quirky but comfortable with plenty of room for 2 couples .

Didn’t like that the shower was down in the sauna room and the hot water was very hit and miss . No frying pan in the kitchen .

No bad things to say.

This property was very clean, well stocked with a variety of groceries and in great location. The owner was gracious enough to wait for us even when our flight was delayed. He gave us a great tour of the house with many stories behind the making of the house and his family. I would give this house an owner two thumbs up. We strongly recommend staying here.

the traditional Sammihouse was soooo cute n cosy n Janis the owner was so helpful and knowledgeable. the sauna was so hot n authentic n traditional. the breakfast was huge n enough food for lunch from it too. There is a beautiful forest walk right beside the house too

This amazing Sami house offered us an unforgettable experience. With its spacious rooms, great backyard and spectacular view, we were feeling very comfortable.

Everything was perfect, from the moment we arrived we was welcomed in to the home by jannis, showed around, he recommended places to visit and eat in rovaniemi. He provided food for breakfast which was lovely. Will definitely be returning here.

The house was tastefully decorated. My daughter absolutely loved it. There was a piano, board games to keep us engaged. Jannis, our host explained about the history of the house and the traditions followed by the local people. We also got to see northern lights during the night. The house was super spacious for 3 people. I would highly recommend this place!

The hot water doesn't last long and regulating its temperature is not possible. This is just a minor inconvenience considering all the other amazing things the house has to offer.

It was a wonderful stay. The host was very warm and prepared lots of snacks and gifts for us. The decoration of the whole house made us Asian customers feel the festive atmosphere of Christmas clearly. My friends and I like it very much. If there is a chance, I will bring my parents to stay here again.

Location is very good, close to airport, city center, santa park/village (max 10min by car). Parking place for car is near the entrance. Silent place. Comfortable house. A lot of different food for breakfast. Very friendly owner! A great place for our 3 day visit to explore Rovaniemi and meet Santa.

It was difficult to adjust the temperature of the water in the shower, it was either hot or cool. Hot sauna helped will this.

Very close to the airport - 7 minutes drive. Amazing treats left for us and also good variety of breakfast choices. Ianis was very knowledgeable and such a great person in general. Took the time to tell us about the Sami family that built the house and its history. Nice sauna too.

Iannis greeted us as we arrived and showed us around the quaint house, giving us insight into the history and culture of the house and Finland. The house was clean and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Sauna was easy to use. Iannis had provided a wide selection of breakfast products, including some gluten free, and clearly loved children as provided little treats for them, too. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Friendly owner with passion. Great location. At the same time village-like and conveniently situated in the way from city center to Santa's village. Same bus 8 gets you also to the train station. Wood heated sauna is fun. House is old but rather clean and well maintained. Don't expect luxury, but basic needs are covered. And breakfast set is more than for just one breakfast. Thanks!

Shower is the most tricky part. It is located in sauna and it was not easy to get the temperature right. It was either too hot or bit too cold. But bit too cold was manageable with heated sauna, so not a big issue.

The value for money was excellent. House was well maintained, we enjoyed stories from the owner who also works a tour guide, and shared his local knowledge and experience. The local supplies for breakfast were amazing!!! We liked the emphasis on introducing products to us that were produced in Norway - very much needed education :)

Time pressure to arrive in the specified time to collect keys in person (which we achieved with 2 minutes left to spare). However, on a road trip anything can happen - and it did. So, an option would be nice just to collect keys from a keybox with a code or similar.

There was plenty of food left to prepare a breakfast or snack: cheese, sausages, butter, milk, porridge, bread , jams etc etc Very nice traditional house in very quiet and green neighborhood. 5 minutes drive to the center and 7 minutes drive to the airport. Very responsive host. Perfect

It is a very nice, comfortable and spacious house with garden, we loved to stay there! The host is really friendly and nice, who provided us delicious food for breakfast. He also prepared the sauna for us, which was pleasant after our long trip.
