A wonderful place and owners!
It was extremely quiet, the staff was incredible, Mike and his family made the difference. Location absolutely stunning, massage next to it. Perfect sunset everyday.
Everything was perfect.
Super in ogni cosa!
Nice cottage on the beach hosted by a lovely family. I enjoyed a really authentic experience. Fantastic location, friendly service and very comfortable accommodation which was also great value.
This resort was exactly what we wanted. At the beginning of our trip we decided to stay for a few nights to break up the drive between puerto princesa and el Nido. We loved it so much that we decided to stay for a couple nights in our way back to puerto princesa. Mike and his family were incredible, and his staff were amazing. We love the rustic feel. The location right on the beach - with so many other bars/restaurants is a fantastic bonus. 100% will be back!
Nothing we didn’t like about this stay.
Dadurch hört man leider alles, was draußen so los ist.
Amazing location in the heart of Port barton. Fantastic owners and staff who went out if their way to help us with endless questions
Quite hard to find, could do with a sign on the road. Barton bistro next door was pretty loud in the night time, however we were made aware of that at the beginning, so not a biggy.

Port Barton tappa obbligatoria. Tutto perfetto. Posizione perfetta. Esattamente al centro della spiaggia. Personale super gentile e disponibile.
We loved the location of our property! The staff was very nice, and the nightlife was so much fun! We enjoyed our breakfast and all the cute animals.
The water pressure wasn’t great and it kept turning off and on. You NEED to wear ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones due to the dogs barking at 2/3 In the morning
Location off of the beach with no view
This isn’t an hotel as much as a shack with wire windows it has little water and certainly no hot water. The shower is so so poor. The shack receptionist insists on a signature on a form saying that amongst other things toilet paper must be put in a small bin underneath the sink…. Then they tell you that the shack gets a clean every three days…. The stench from the bin even after a few hour at nearly 30 degrees centigrade is overwhelming. There really isn’t any redeeming qualities here. The noise from thumping music is horrendous from 4pm up to 12:30 am and the noise starts again at 5:30 am. Bike fumes from over revving their motorbike engines, people shouting, rooster calls and dogs barking and god knows what else are excessive, intrusive and invasive I’m not sure that the people who reviewed this dump (and believe me it’s the worse place we have ever stayed in and we travel a lot) have actually stayed here. Granted it’s right on the beach but that’s really not enough to save it 3900 php is absolute daylight robbery I note the phrase “high quality fixtures and fittings”in one review This unit has a shower that doesn’t produce hot water a sink with no water at all a toilet cistern that takes an hour to fill up, two ancient 1980’s ceiling fans and four bare light bulbs …. Hardly high quality. The response from the owner will say what do you expect we are on the beach and my reply would be “ be honest in your adverts. It’s basic beyond believe and uncomfortable beyond normality the garden aren’t lush the floor is uneven it’s not a resort and you can’t flush paper down the toilet So if you want a fume filled smelly uncomfortable shack that’s probably 4or 5 times overpriced We came for back to nature peace and quiet and got hell
Great Location, friendly staff, good island hopping options in front of the accommodation.
Very sick Husky Dog, which smelled very badly. We could not sleep from 4:30am because of this dog.
It is near the beach
It is really very basic, this is fine but in line of the amount I paid I expected a bit more. It is a bot overproced
The bungalow was spotless and the staff genuinely kind and tried to help – that’s literally all the positives.
Biggest problem: almost no running water the whole stay (not even to flush toilet!). You have to beg staff to turn on a pump for 5-10 minutes, no idea where the water comes from or if it’s clean even for showering. We showered and brushed teeth with bottled water 2 days. The open-style windows became a total torture because NOTHING blocks noise or smoke. At night when the village burns trash and plastic the thick, toxic smoke pours into the room in minutes and you just lie there. You can’t escape it. From 6:00–7:45 every morning an egg lady screams right outside and the entire village piles in, shrieking, howling with laughter and yelling at full volume like it’s the loudest market on earth, while motorbikes roar by constantly pumping exhaust straight in. It’s deafening chaos – earplugs are 100 % useless! Want to sleep past 6 am on holiday? Forget it, just stay home. WARNING: Booking.com must flag Port Barton as HIGH-RISK – massive infection/disease/food poisoning danger from contaminated water and unhygienic conditions. Don’t just take our money; warn travelers! Port Barton is pretty but come here only if you don’t need sleep or shower. These are permanent problems, not only the excuse “typhoon damage”. Never again.

Consigliatissimo.
Close to the beach
Very noisy during both early evening and night and daytime. No warm water at all. Staff not so helpful.
The location is perfect. Right on the beach and in the heart of everything going on. It's directly next to our favourite bar/restaurant (Barton Bistro) which was perfect for dining, drinks and live music. You can hear the waves crashing at night and waking up for breakfast served on the beach is a real slice of paradise (the mango was possibly one of the best I've ever tried. So juicy!). The bed and pillows were comfortable and the porch with inflatable chairs were great to relax on with a drink in the evening. The place is quite basic but honestly, that's the vibe of the area. It's very authentic and charming (in a jungle hut in the beach kind of way)
The villa is what the resort refers to as an "open villa" this consists of the windows being covered by a thin/bug prove mesh with static (non closing) wooden shutters across them. You really can hear everything around you. I'm a very light sleeper which in hindsight probably wasn't the best choice. You can hear tuktuks, dogs, and music from the neighbouring bars from the streets pretty clearly in the room. At night this dies down around 12ish and starts up again around 7.30am. They do supply earplugs which helped but didn't solve the problem. Due to the shutters not closing, the light pours in during the morning hours which if you don't have an eye mask, may be an issue. These are personal issues which shouldn't reflect poorly on the property. At its core, it's a great jungle hut on the beach that has everything you need to have a great time. Just bare in mind the noise and light if you're a light sleeper. With that being said, we had a great time and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting an authentic experience.
I stayed in a cozy authentic cottage fleet with mosquito net Fan to keep it cool
Noisy times due to a bar next door playing loud music
Very chilled and helpful host + staff. Extraordinary location directly at the beach.
Great setting and nice quiet town. Not too crowded which is typically what I look for when trying to get away from the city life. Owners know plenty of activities to keep you busy. Food is also very good and the massage was worth it when relaxing at the end of the day.
Nothing really. Everything was as expected.
It was perfect in every way a and right on the beach.
Often didn't serve evening meals but plenty of local restaurants
The staff and Michael was extra helpful, it’s always great to know when turning up somewhere that you’re gonna be looked after. They went out of there way to ensure our stay was a good one .. thank you all
I wouldn’t say it was an overwhelming dislike but you do get the full sounds of nature at night, which I fully get , we’re living the island life and should embrace Everitt comes with.
Likes: location was amazing, staff were incredible, porch area with beanbags was lovely, provided fans which helped. Dislike: restaurant behind played loud music, motorcycles were filling up gasoline behind the villa which made it smell (only for a little while).
We had a wonderful stay! The family who runs the business is very friendly and helpful! The bungalow is nice, just a few steps away from the beach.
The owner, Michael, had owned the property for many years and it was one of the first hotels at Port Barton. He was conscious for the need for to preserve Port Barton. He has designed some lovely bedrooms with high quality fixtures and fittings right on the beach. The location could not be better.
Breakfast was a bit basic.
Fantastic location with amazing hosts and staff. Perfect little cottages if you want beachfront access. Complimentary water and kayak were fabulous. We kayaked to Coconut beach and White beach in easy time. Much more pleasant than getting a tricycle. Owners were attentive and knowledgeable about the area. Helped us rent a scooter and navigate to some local attractions. Hosts have 5 lovely dogs that we could get our ‘pet fix’ in. Shower was nice and warm. Restaurant attached to resort serves fresh seafood and authentic dishes while watching the sunset. There is an large shaded deck with and overhead fan to cool under after a long day at the beach. There is also a fan inside room near the bed.
No A/C but that’s the trade off to have beach access and hear the waves at night.. Any beachfront property will be more noisy than in town as all the beach bars are playing music and stray dogs bark occasionally at night.
Location was good, but it wasn’t beachfront as advertised. Staff was very helpful and overall amenities were nice.
Overall it’s a cabin (you can call it big bungalow), so there is no sound isolation at all. Location is next to the street, so if you are sensitive sleeper, don’t expect to rest here much - dogs barking, scooters buzzing, music from neighbouring bar will keep you up 24/7. Brig ear plugs.
This place is a pure diamond in Port Barton🤍 I stayed in one of the bungalows for 4 days and I can honestly say that during my 1 month stay this was definitely my favorite place in the Philippines! The place is absolutelly magical, the bungalow is surrounded by a beautiful garden, within half a minute you are in the middle of the beach. The staff is super nice, helpful, especially the owners. They kindness will brighten up your every day. You can contact them with any request, they will take care of it in 3 minutes. And anyway the restaurant also one of the best in Port Barton I think! Thanks for everything🙏🏽❤️
Loved it! Back to basics, no TV, no air conditioning, just a fan. Right at the beach and beautiful garden.
There wasn’t really anything I didn’t like but some may find it noisy with barking dogs etc. because it is open with screens so if you want peace and quiet, may not be a fit for you. I loved it.
Everything was simply perfect. The location couldn’t be better – the beach is just 3-5 steps away. The bungalow has excellent air circulation. At first glance, it may seem very open, but everything is thoughtfully designed with mesh screens in all openings, including above the bed. Although I wouldn’t say mosquitoes were an issue at all. The bungalows have a shower with recently installed hot water, so you won’t have to endure a cold shower. All the standard amenities you need in a room are available. The best feature is the private terrace, complete with bean bags, a table, and chairs. Right in front of the bungalow is a restaurant that belongs to the same complex. The sounds from the restaurant did not disturb our relaxation at all. There was no noticeable smell from the restaurant either, as it only opened in the evening and the wind blew towards the sea. The owners are incredibly helpful and will assist you with anything, from scooter rentals to boat tours. There is also a massage salon nearby. The food at the restaurant is simply perfect – fresh seafood grilled to perfection. You can even have your coffee delivered straight to your terrace. In other words, this place can easily be described as a 5-star resort with a Michelin-star quality restaurant.
only 3 days stay
Mike, Rome and Elly are among the most beautiful people I have met while travelling! It was great to stay at Malaika. The bungalow is just behind the restaurant, on the beach! all was great, I didn’t want to leave! If I ever go back to Port Barton, I would definitely stay at Malaika! thank you so much for everything!!!!
