Kanuka Cottage

It is a great cottage just a short distance to the sea but tucked away in the hills. We loved the quiet, you could listen to the stream out on the decking and hear the birds sing. You could just stay there relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility, forgetting the outside world completely but if you do manage to drag yourself away, Cooks beach area offers plenty of short walks, a ferry across to Whitianga and some beautiful beaches.

Lieu isolé, extrêmement calme et pourtant près de tout très rapidement. Les hôtes tout à la fois discret et prévenant, qui s'assurent qu'ont tout ce dont on ai besoin. Tout ce qu'il faut sur place pour passer un agréable séjour. Des avocats dans un plats sur la table pour nous accueillir, du lait au frigo, un barbecue fonctionnel, une pelle pour hot water beach avec les serviettes de plage ... bref, une super adresse

Beautiful quiet location close to cooks beach and all that goes with it. Lovely rural outlook. Cute cottage and good communication with host. Very reasonably priced.

A bigger more comfy couch to relax on would be great!

A serene and peaceful location in a small town. The small town had some wonderful restaurants and shops but we were also only a 3-minute ferry ride from Whitianga. That saved us a 40 minute drive and we also got to experience Whitianga. Use of the bbq was fabulous and allowed us to save money on meals.

The mattress could be more comfortable and it would be nice to have some sort of cook top in the kitchen when staying for multiple days. There was an electric frying pan but it cannot accommodate everything.

This place exceeded my expectations and was just the perfect spot for our little getaway. It has everything you need. It was so cosy and peaceful. We will definitely be back and I will recommend this wonderful spot with my friends/family. Added bonus - the DVD player and range of DVDs was a cool nostalgic hit!!

Fantastic location with wild birds, fruit trees and a stream running down the hill. Cook's Beach and the environment were idyllic. Great to have a deck and table outside to sit at.

The Kanuka Cottage is a perfect accomodation!

The location was very quiet, and the cottage was a super place to stay with every need thought of including a spade for the Hot Water Beach. Wish we had time to stay there longer.

Loved how cozy and clean the cottage was. If your looking for a getaway out of the city thats relaxing and peaceful than I highly recommend this place. Host left a nice welcome note for us as well as some avocados that we enjoyed. They also had a folder with information which was very helpful. Thank you again for the beautiful stay.

Quiet rural location- nearby to stunning scenery , walks and popular Coromandel sites. Owner very responsive.

The property was cosy and clean. The hosts were easy to communicate with (easy check in) and they left us some fresh avocados which was lovely!

It would be great if it had more kitchen facilities and more wifi available.

Apart from the location on the Coromandel, not much at all. We were very disappointed.

Almost everything. The owners need to pack a bag and stay in the property themselves for a weekend. All it's faults and failings will be self evident especially if they give the equivalent rental price to charity to see how it feels to pay out that much money for so little back

Gorgeous private little cottage in a great location. Very clean and well equipped. Had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again.

The only thing we didn't like was we had lots of ants on the kitchen bench when we got home one day. But i do know how hard it is to keep ants away. It wasn't a big deal we just sprayed them and wiped the bench down.

The location was excellent. The rural outlook was a delight for us coupled with the sound of the running water from the nearby creek.

The heat pump works but the remote was not easy to follow.

A quiet paradise, a great place to watch the stars!

The property was simply phenomenal. Peaceful, and quiet, yet not too far from amenities, such as the ferry. It was farmland, yet still had a fresh smell to the place. The running stream behind the property was so peaceful. The hosts: incredible, endless hospitality and so thoughtful. They provided us with some avocadoes from their trees, and also, when the bbq ran out of gas, they responded to our text near-immediately, and brought another gas tank over within 15mins - the leg of lamb was saved. The property itself is bigger than the photos show (honestly, the photos don't do the place justice!). The extra room converted into a lounge with bean bags just expands the place out bigger than most similar properties we've been too. We cannot recommend this place more!

Environment.

Great spacious cottage away from everything, also away from the host's house. But just a few minutes drive to Cooks Beach. We could see the milky way as there is no light pollution around.

First impressions: arriving to a pot of half dead herbs and cobwebs over outdoor area, not the best. Suggest the extra large electric frypan be replaced with a small hob. Maybe time for a new mattress?

Very beautiful place and amazing environment surrounded by avocado farm. Also could see some cattle a little far from this property.

The seclusion of the house made this a perfect getaway. The free avocados was a nice touch.

With the sound of the bubbling creek welcoming us in, our stay at Kanuka Cottage was a true restful escape. Better than the pictures on the listing! Really appreciated the thoughtful local produce provided and watching one of the provided DVDs was a great nostalgic way to end the night. Would happily stay again!

Not a dislike, but more of a heads up - we stayed on a Tuesday night as a stop over on our road trip and found that most restaurants open for dinner were just over 30 mins away in Whitianga. Didn’t matter to us as we had some back up food we’d brought. It seems most restaurants closer by don’t open until Thursday most weeks so a little planning ahead would be recommended!

Short drive to the beach and shops. Beautiful secluded spot with a lovely deck for relaxing and enjoying the sun. I really enjoyed using the bbq and the hosts provided some classic DVD's. Lovely get away bach.

We loved the location, hearing the stream nearby and having a little lounge to sit and watch a DVD at night was fun. It was lovely finding some fresh produce in the fruit bowl on arrival and the welcome email with links to local attractions was much appreciated. Cotton sheets make for a good nights sleep.

Rural location was quiet and peaceful.

Kitchen only had electric fry pan. Not much for cooking but we made it work. Have to drive to the beach by car but coming home to country setting was nice. Stars were amazing at night! Kitty is nice but she can be temperamental.

The location is perfect, the cottage itself was very cute and cosy and the hosts left a lovely note and some essentials (milk, tea, coffee pods) which were greatly appreciated!

Although the cat was extremely cute and we didn’t mind it hanging around the cottage for a lot of our stay, it meowed all night long for two nights wanting to come in which was a little annoying as we knew we couldn’t let it inside. Also it would have made it an even better stay with some comfier chairs/couch as we felt like we didn’t have a comfy place to sit and relax other than the bed. In saying that, we still absolutely loved the place and wouldn’t hesitate in going back!!

We adored this little cottage! The hosts had great communication and even left some fruit for us. We arrived late, but the self check in and directions given was super easy even in the dark. Fantastic location set amongst the trees with the calming sounds of the stream. Super close to Hot Water Beach. Wish we could have stayed an entire week not just 1 night! Thank you!

The cottage was so cosy and peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful garden and fields. It feels really secluded but is just a short walk/drive away from Cooks Beach, Hot Water Beach and Whitianga. Kat & Kane were such great hosts and we were even welcomed with avocados picked fresh from the garden which were delicious!

Absolutely nothing - we’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

I really liked the place, in the middle of the field with a stream near by so you could hear the water running, beautiful.

Everything was great, maybe with WiFi it would be better but if you are there is to disconnect for a while so it's really not a problem.
