We were only informed that we had to do our own beds and clean the apartment to not have a cleaning fee once we got there. Including mopping/vacuuming the floor, which is crazy. The listing does not display this. The apartment is in a sad state and the paint on the ceiling is peeling in the kitchen as well as one bedroom. This is not a 3 star hotel. It was also hard to reach the owner through booking.com. We arrived a bit early and wanted to leave our luggages inside until the actual check in, but we were told to leave the luggages outside on the balcony after trying to reach them multiple times. You imperatively need a car to get there. It's sketchy to reach the apartment by walking.

Reviewed Aug 20, 2026Die Aussicht ist fantastisch auf den Fjord. Leider nur aus dem Fenster. Kein Balkon oder Terasse. Das Haus ist am Berg gebaut. Wenn man von oben schaut ist die oberste Wohnung am Berg ebenerdig betretebar. Die darunter liegende Wohnung braucht ein paar Studen runter oder den seitlichen Eingang. Ganz unten ist dann ein anderer Zugang. Die Terasse gehört leider der mittleren Wohnung.. Küche war einigermaßen gut ausgestattet. Uns hat eine vernünftige Pfanne gefehlt. Insgesamt machte unsere Wohnung den Eindruck einer Mischung aus Grannies old Appartment (die Küche ist gefühlt aus den 60er) und zu lange alleinlebender Junggeselle (Türen der Küchenschränke schließen nicht richtig, der Teppich im Wohnzimmer ist fleckig, aber ein schicker Fernsehstuhl steht zwischen Sofa und modernem Fernseher, die Vorhänge....). Ein großes Bad und recht großzügige Zimmer. Guter Eingangsbereich.
Der Teppich im Wohnzimmer hat bessere Zeiten gesehen. Die ganze Wohnung war ein schmaler Grat zwischen einfach und gut genutzt und zu abgewohnt. Für eine Nacht ok.in Absprache mit den unteren Gästen kann man die Terasse eventuell mitnutzen. Es fehlt definitiv eine vernünftige Pfanne in guter Größe für eine Wohnung mit bis zu 6 Gästen. Nach den Bildern ist die untere Wohnung etwas moderner/hübscher eingerichtet.

Reviewed Aug 13, 2026Incredible location and views (drive up is on tight winding roads, but easy to get to). Rooms are nice, beds are comfortable. Great balcony. Really nice to see the fjord from Aurland, rather than in Flåm.
Linens cost extra, which means you must make your own beds upon arrival. There is also a substantial amount requested upon checkout to avoid a cleaning fee (take off all linens, take out trash, mop and vacuum, etc.). Just be aware going in.

La déco date des années 50. La moquette est tachée. Il faudrait vraiment faire des travaux. Surtout, si la personne qui nous a accueilli au début du séjour était très aimable, le propriétaire qui habite à côté s’est montré très désagréable.

Reviewed Jul 11, 2026The view from the property was stunning. The beds were comfortable. We were able to cook breakfast and dinner in the kitchen. The living room had comfortable places to sit and the Wi-Fi worked.
We wanted to stay overnight in Flåm, but even six months ahead of time, there were no rooms available. This one was available, but I was unaware that we would have to rent a car to get there. No public transportation. We had to rent thin, small towels and sheets, and were required to clean the place before we left.

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026This apartment is very basic and would benefit from some repairing. (Cracking ceiling). it doesnt have even hand soap for the bathroom. Also, we were charged additionally for the bedsets. For $290 per night we expected that like in the hotel, bedsets, hand soap and some water bottles would be included in the price.
It is located in a very nice peaceful place and the view on the fjords is beautiful.

Do tego niesamowity, zapierający dech w piersiach widok na fiord z okien i ogromnego tarasu. Wszystko bardzo czyste, łóżka bardzo wygodne, dużo miejsca w mieszkaniu. A jeśli dodam jeszcze przesympatycznych, młodych właścicieli, to jest spełnienie marzeń! Nasze najlepsze wspomnienia z podróży będą się wiązały właśnie z tym miejscem! Dziękujemy!

L’insonorisation. Il s’agit en fait d’une maison transformée en un gite au rdc et un autre au premier étage. Nous etions au rdc et heureusement les personnes au dessus ont été très peu bruyantes parce quon etendait chaque pas et quasiment toutes les conversations….

Having to rent bedding and linen. It wasn't expensive but it was still an additional cost and the towels were very old, thin and poor quality. Bed linen smelt bad. Location link wrong, use the exact address to find the house.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2025The view here is unbeatable, it was definitely the highlight during our stay! We had everything we needed here and more, it was really lovely and we felt at home right away.
It's a spacious bottom-level unit of a house, so just a heads up that there are other guests living above you! We saw a lockbox for the keys but had to wait for the host to meet us and hand over the keys, we wish the check-in process had been a little smoother.

Por decir algo, las arañas, vimos unas cuantas enormes pero esto es algo inevitable teniendo en cuenta que estás en la montaña, no esto cosa del alojamiento en sí.

My first visit was great and we used 3 bed room house. in my second visit i booked 2 bed room house and there was a bad odor/probably coming through a door closed near the bathroom. something smells like bathroom drainage or toilets drainage. We had to sleep while windows are open to minimize the bad odor. Hope they have fixed it now.

We loved that it’s an old old barn that was so authentic with turf on the roof and an old carriage in storage inside and just all the old features of the building on the outside. Then the inside is completely renovated with big picture windows, and a number of beds more than we needed And modern appliances and comfortable living space. The view of the valley below and the mountains and the water is absolutely spectacular! My five-year-old granddaughter was thrilled with all the toys she found to play with there! Horses running across the pasture behind! Even the use of a swingset and a trampoline for granddaughter. We visited the old Steve church in the village and that was very interesting. And then we drove from there to the countryside and back. We had a superb stay here.
We were sorry we didn’t get to meet the owners. We did read parts of one of the books that describe life there. We struggled a little bit with the appliances, which are very modern and also quite different from what we’re used to. There really wasn’t anything we didn’t like just a couple of comments. We did have some trouble communicating. I think before we got there, but it all worked out well and we were able to get in and there were no problems. Thank you so much.

Not as per pictures shown,(Different apt than shown in picture) Old Outdated and Unclean (lots of stain on carpet, walls, smelly), poor kitchen condition / appliances etc, Shower was very small, parking or driving (very narrow, gravel road with hair pin turn at 30 degrees!) to apt, No heat / heater, Can't use the lawn.

We expected difficulties getting there based on other reviews, but we had no problems finding the right address and it was just off the main road, quite easy to reach.
The kitchen could use some more plates, utensils etc.

Apartment seems to be in process of restoration and not quite finished. Some electrical fittings, heaters, main lights and lights over counter and cooker didn't work. Recommend this apartment only for people with their own transport.

Reviewed Aug 8, 2024The view is phenomenal and compensates for whatever faults the apartment may have. All bedrooms and the living room have the same gorgeous view on the fjord and from the kitchen you look towards the end of the fjord (Flåm). We spent an afternoon on the picnic table outside the apartment, reading and intermittently taking in the view…wow, wow, wow. The apartment is spacious (we stayed in the three-bedroom apartment on the top floor) and the owners are friendly. Location is excellent to visit Flåm, Stegastein viewpoint and the rest of the area. Hike to Mount Prest highly recommend (but you should have a bit of hiking experience for it, nothing too serious but still).
As all previous reviews mention: The house is rundown and in dire need of repair/ renovation. There are indeed hardly any amenities although there was hand soap. For us not a big deal, we had all we needed with us but it would be nice to replace e.g. the table cloth which had holes and the washing up brush which looked like being in use for quite a while already. The kitchen was a bit grimy so needs a more thorough cleaning session and the bathroom was smelly (though generally the apartment made a clean impression). The kitchen table is way too small for six (we were four, so no problem). Access road indeed steep gravel road and parking required some careful manoeuvring but for us not a problem (no 4wheel drive necessary but we do have a car with a good engine and we had driven much worse / more difficult toll roads before). Having said all this we enjoyed our stay very much and would not hesitate to come back. It also seems that the owners are working on the house and premises, slowly making improvements. Let’s face it - you pay for the view and boy, it’s worth it!
