The road to get there is very poor.

Peaceful and beautiful. The staff were outstanding and the food excellent.

This was our second visit to Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse, and once again it was absolutely incredible. It is one of those special places that you know you will return to again and again. The food is honestly exceptional — every meal feels like an experience and is such a huge part of what makes a stay here so memorable. A special mention has to go to Amen, who was part of the ground staff. He was absolutely amazing! Whenever you turned around, Amen was there ready to help. When we left for our hike, he was there. When we arrived back, he was there. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and his friendliness and attentiveness really stood out to us. We also did the hike to the waterfall, which was absolutely beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. There is something incredibly special about Cleopatra — the setting, the food, the people and the attention to detail. Our second visit certainly won’t be our last. We will return again and again. ❤️

Exceptional stay in the most superb spot. We had a self catering cottage with mountain vistas situated next to a most beautiful stream. The food was really remarkable - every single thing tasted wonderful and was made with such care. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly.

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse is one of those rare places that exceeds expectations every single time. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, with spectacular mountain views, tranquil surroundings, and a sense of peace that is difficult to find elsewhere. The accommodation is beautifully appointed, exceptionally comfortable, and full of character. Every detail reflects the care and passion of the owners and staff. The food is truly world-class and worth the trip on its own. Each meal is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and unforgettable. The hospitality is warm, genuine, and personal, making every guest feel welcome from the moment they arrive. Whether relaxing by the fire, exploring the property, or simply taking in the scenery, every moment feels special.

Absolutely nothing. We have visited before and once again the experience was flawless. Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse never disappoints and consistently delivers an exceptional standard in every aspect.

Food, setting, comfort, and staff were all exceptional

Wine selection was poor. Cellar inadequately stocked and neglected. The road from the Ugly Duckling turnoff was awful and caused damage to my car on the return trip. This situation is absolutely not the fault of the lodge but impacts accessibility at present.

The bed was very creaky. We were woken up multiple times every time I or my husband turned over in the night.

The atmosphere and outside surroundings. The kitchen has everything you need and even more.

The beds and upstairs room was full of dust. I would appreciate it they paid more attention to cleaning of the upstairs bedroom and bathroom.

The breakfast was stunning! Best bread in the country! The staff were so friendly and helpful! We also had the privilege of meeting the owners - what a stunning couple. Very homely atmosphere. Beautiful setting and gardens.

We have no complaints, apart from the absolute disgusting state of the roads - sincerely hope the farmers in the area get the necessary help from government/municipality regarding this issue.

We stayed 1 night to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was a real treat ! They kindly spoilt us with a bottle of South African bubbly in our room to celebrate ! The food was divine , the staff are lovely and the property is peaceful and serene. The wine cellar is amazing and they have such a great selection of wines to choose from . Thank you for hosting us and for the spoil , we will definitely be back for a longer stay

- Caster and Buhle were excellent hosts and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and looked after during my stay - I ended up staying ten days and had booked a room with separate lounge area which was a winner. Suggest that option for longer stays. - Fire in my room during turndown service - The food was fantastic - I loved the views and time on the deck with a cup of coffee was just what the dr ordered - Tumi, the cat was adorable - The housekeepers are thorough and they even put my pjs in my bed so electric blanket would warm them! - Spa treatments with Buhle was relaxing and highlight of my afternoon - The owner (Mouse) took some time to catch up and listened to my feedback - Amen, the gardener was so friendly and always made time for a hello and chat.

- That I had to leave. I feel like I left a part of my heart behind. Unfortunately the road there is not great but do not let it put you off from experiencing this special property.

Wonderfully close to nature, loved the rockfall pool that we had all to our selves . Food was amazing as was the service !

Absolutely loved Cleopatras from the outstanding food (most delicious I have had in ages) to the wonderful service delivered by their staff, who are very helpful and friendly. Location is beautiful. I hope to return soon to this lovely place!

Had high expectations for the price we paid. The place looks tired and needs an upgrade.

The location is absolute stunning. The mountains and dams provide an incredible view.

The access is a little tricky but with the correct vehicle, the roads are navigable.

The absolute serenity. The lovely staff, and one of the most incredible dinner experiences... a 5 course meal, included in your package, you would pay double for at any top restaurant, and this was top restaurant quality.

We were slightly disappointed with the food this visit.

The afternoon tea, dinner & breakfast at Cleopatra were absolutely superb & delicious and the staff very friendly, charming and hospitable. The standard room #3 was perfect. Comfortable, great linen and although it was a very cold evening, the room was very warm (with a fireplace) and an electric blanket. Nice touches of toiletries and magazines. Had a look at the other accommodation options and all looked comfortable and cozy too. There is a lovely gentleness about Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse.

The road to Cleopatra from Rosetta is rough and ready (it is being upgraded at the moment) but that must definitely NOT put you off visiting Cleopatra - drive slowly and take your time. The destination is worth the slow journey and the scenery is spectacular along the way. Why rush!?!

The setting is absolutely breathtaking - serene, scenic, and surrounded by mountains. The attention to detail in the rooms and the warmth of the hospitality made us feel completely at home. Dinner was an experience on its own - beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The fires, the fresh mountain air, and the cozy atmosphere made for the perfect winter escape.

This was an amazing weekend, all the staff were awesome. the room (colonial). A whole lot of imagination and hard work went into making the cleopatra the dream location it is. the food was absolutely delicious, while we were eating, the fires in the rooms were lighten so we came back to a cozy warm room. Caster and the rest of the staff made us feel special.

It would have been better if we could stay longer.

The staff were so lovely, every single one of the staff, even the gardeners, kept an eye out for our well being. This place is just so relaxing and peaceful, with views of the mountains over a pond, a destination in itself and it really is a place to rest. The room (we stayed in the garden room) was very comfortable, with a great fireplace, and an amazing comfortable bed and luxurious bedding. Cleopatra also prides itself on their gourmet food, and I'm always a tad skeptical, but the meals (dinner and breakfast) were well presented, thoughtful and most importantly, really delicious. That bread basket is scrumptious! I would be back in a heartbeat.

The layout of the room necessitated the toilet and shower being in a different section from the main bedroom and the bath. Not a big deal. New hairdryer probably needed (I forgot to tell them).

We love the quiet setting of the Farmhouse and also the peaceful time away from Durban.

Awesome venue Lovely accomodation. The condition of the roads to the property are very bad with multiple deep potholes and gravel making the risk for punctures high. Wish we had been informed about this by the property.

Lovely location, friendly welcoming staff, good food and wine. Warm and gregarious host/owner. We made it into a leisurely drive via Nottingham Road with stops at various midlands meander shops and eateries.

Road to the guesthouse is absolutely shocking, more pothole than tar! (would not attempt it in a small/low slung car of if you do plan for a much longer travel time, you will have to go very slowly) Walking trails very poorly kept but manageable, ask about the conditions before you set off.

The food and the staff were wonderful. The attention to detail was really impressive and the staff Could not have been kinder.
