Crinkly Cottage

Absolutely fabulous country cottage! We had a wonderful stay at Crinkly Cottage. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, and the views are absolutely fantastic — the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The cottage itself is incredibly comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Our host went above and beyond by providing breakfast, and wow, what an amazing selection! There was so much thought and care put into making our stay special. The attention to detail throughout the cottage is brilliant, especially in the bathroom and kitchen. Everything was beautifully presented, clean and thoughtfully provided. We honestly just wished we had stayed longer! We would highly recommend Crinkly Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable and welcoming country getaway. We will definitely be back! ❤️

The cottage was perfect, comfy & cosy overlooking the dairy! Earthy smells of being on a working farm. Everything needed plus much more was stocked in the cottage. Delicious homemade treats & plenty of breakfast choices. Washing machine was a plus & a dishwasher(we didn't use) Lovely & warm for the chilly frosty weather conditions. Thankyou

A localização é muito conveniente para quem vai visitar as cavernas, apenas a 10 minutos de carro. Lugar calmo e de fácil acesso à vila de Waitomo também. O chalé é bem equipado, tudo bem pensado. Apesar do pouco espaço, não deixaram faltar nada. Experiência interessante.

A vista frontal principal do chalé é exatamente para os fundos do depósito de tratores e máquinas da fazenda. Se o chalé fosse virado para qualquer um dos outros 3 lados seria lindo. Ou se colocassem árvores ou arbustos na frente também ajudaria. De resto, tudo bem.

Beautiful location and very accommodating

Super petit cottage au milieu de la ferme avec les produits de la ferme pour le petit déjeuner, notamment un gros pot de yaourt maison à la vanille absolument délicieux. Des hôtes très sympa et qui propose de participer à la traite de vaches et de faire téter les veaux. Un panel complet d'article de toilette qui va du coton tige au flacon de shampoing. De la lessive, de quoi faire la vaisselle, de quoi cuisiner (huile, sel, poivre...) Un logement idéalement situé entre ville et activités

Perfect stay in our own little home, surrounded by farm friends, but close to restaurants and grocery stores.

Unfortunately we didn’t stay long. The communication was excellent. This place has everything you need and more for a very comfortable stay.

Das kleine Cottage ist perfekt und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, an alles ist gedacht. Das Frühstück war reichlich und vielseitig. Idealer Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Höhlen.

Das Cottage liegt direkt neben einer großen Milchwirtschaft. Schon sehr früh werden die Kühe gemolken, Traktoren fahren, usf., was den Nachtschlaf für Empfindliche erheblich beeinträchtigt.

The property was lovely. It is on a working farm and you can hear the animal noises which is fun. It is about 10mins to Waitomo Caves and easy to drive there.

The cottage has everything you need, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, very comfortable bed, and dedicated parking. Very good choice especially if you're planning to visit the Waitomo Caves in the morning.

We absolutely loved Crinkly Cottage! It’s a working farm so there’s plenty of activity during daylight hours. The cottage is very well equipped and maintained. We were so surprised with all the amenities in this little place from the small oven/hot plate to the mini dishwasher. There’s also an apartment size washing machine in the bathroom. The provided breakfast was amazing! So much food, from farm fresh eggs to 3 types of cereal and yogurt. We are not big breakfast people but this breakfast could have fed us for most of the day. Air conditioning was also a plus. The bed was very comfortable and the atmosphere around the cottage was farm quiet. We loved watching the tiny calves in the back paddock. We spent 2 nights at Crinkly Cottage and wish we had more time there.

Nous sommes arrivés avec 3h30 de retard en raison du retard de notre vol (air Nouvelle Zélande), nous avions pu prévenir les propriétaires, tout était organisé pour notre arrivée. Nous avons vu les propriétaires en repartant le lendemain matin, ils sont charmants. Je recommande ce logement, même s'il est un peu isolé.

The cottage is very cozy and well equipped and with a lot of goodies in the fridge. Loved having the possibility to wash and the dishwasher was convenient. Paula and Steve are welcoming and helpful. Close to the Waitomo caves. In Te Kuiti we found some good restaurants. We also appreciated staying at a dairy farm, being able to watch the cows and the milking procedure.

The only downside to staying at a dairy farm are the flies. Harmless but annoying. Make sure to keep doors and windows closed.

Das Cottage war sehr schön und sehr durchdacht eingerichtet. Es wurde wirklich an alles gedacht! Es gab auch eine Waschmaschine und eine Spülmaschine. Der Kühlschrank war bei unserer Ankunft voll bestückt mit leckeren Sachen, die wir gar nicht alle essen konnten! Vielen Dank!

Loved everything about the stay

Our stay at this charming dairy farm was a delight. Meeting the friendly farm dogs, chatting with the owners were a highlight, and the peaceful views rolling up the hills made the whole place feel wonderfully relaxing. The cottage itself was very comfortable, offering everything we needed for a cosy getaway. Being so close to Waitomo made exploring the area very convenient, and we appreciated having excellent dining options just a 10‑minute drive away. A lovely rural escape with all the right touches.

Perfect location as it was a short drive to the waitomo caves which we had a booking for the next day. Complimentary breakfast was extremely helpful and a great selection. Overall a very beautiful property and suited our needs well.

We loved everything about Crinkly Cottage, I’d highly recommend staying here. It was clean, comfortable, homely & perfect for a stay in Ke Kuiti. It was so lovely, we had a night in.

Although close to all the farm activities we really felt that this was a true get-a-way. Although Waitomo caves are very close we would strongly recommend visiting Ruakiri Caves and the Mangapohue Natural Bridge. Both of these far exceeded our expectations. We also felt that all the breakfast goodies were the best we have had at any BnB worldwide!

Paula is a great host and the cottage is at only few minutes away from the Waitomo Caves - definitely would recommend staying here if you’re around

This is a cozy and warm room located inside the farm. We were provided with food such as milk, eggs, bread, juice, etc., which was perfect for our breakfast. The kitchen facilities were also great, which we were able to cook a dinner. There were even some board games, which we used to kill our time at night.

Dat alles zo goed geregeld was.. Van alle gemakken voorzien, Zelfs een wasmachine... Leuk ontvangst door boer Steve!!

Prachtig plekje en super vriendelijke host. Alles is aanwezig, heerlijk vers brood en ander lekkers. Aan alles is gedacht. En vanaf het terras een blik in het boerenleven op de boerderij. Hartstikke leuk. Zou het aanbevelen!

• Very comfortable bed • Having a washing machine with powder • The amount of things here and there were incredible (little baked goods, fresh juice, joghurt, milk, everything you may need for in the bathroom or kitchen - never seen something like this before - THANK YOU SO MUCH - you made us feel very looked after) • The breakfast in general deserves it's own point here: such a well thought of breakfast was available in the cottage, wow, huge huge plus point staying on a farm for sure, thank you Paula

• Ants in the kitchen area unfortunately the minute we started to get food out • The 4.45am wake up every morning from the farm work and music, didn't realize when booking that the cottage would be this close to machinery etc. • A long line from cottage to tree to hang up more washed cloths would be amazing for the future

We loved everything about this stay. Host Paula was so helpful. Loved how remote the cottage seemed even though it was a small trip to local villages/towns. We would have loved to stay for more nights if our itinerary allowed. The best spot we've stayed at on the north island. Also, incredible sunset views from the porch. Would absolutely recommend.

Mooi plekje op een echt melkvee bedrijf. Dit is er boerderij dus van alles te zien. Natuurlijk wordt er al vroeg in de ochtend gestart met het werk op de boerderij maar daar hoor je maar weinig van. Wel leuk om even te kijken hoe dat gaat.

An incredibly cozy place to stay. Paula and Phil provide everything you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. Waking up to the sounds of the birds in idyllic surroundings was a little bit of NZ heaven. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Beautiful location and so lovely watching the activities of a working farm from our balcony! The owners are very welcoming and we really appreciated all the little extra treats. There was everything needed for breakfast and some delicious homemade goodies. The kitchenette is small but perfectly fine for making simple meals. Thank you we had a lovely stay.

This was a very cute cottage in a beautiful rural setting. It is on a working farm, which added to the appeal for us, and a short drive to the Waitomo Caves. We have never seen such a well stocked BNB with everything you might possibly need.

It is small, but laid out so well that it is still very comfortable and super efficient.

Great location for the Glow worm caves. Being on a working farm was a novelty but was not noisy or disruptive. Crinkly cottage had everything that we wanted and needed. The bathroom was great and good water pressure.

Cleanliness, facilities, breakfast and condiments left for us, items for use. Friendly family owned dairy farm who were quite happy to have a chat.

Little walk up the slope together to cabin-would not like it in the rain. Just a minor point.

Breakfast went above and beyond; you normally find stale store bought croissants - instead they had in-date bread, cereal, granola, a healthy offering of spreads, coffee, tea and milk. Great water pressure, great vibe on the farm, very friendly lab puppies to help with our check in. Location was perfect - 10 mins to everywhere we needed to go and set in a very picturesque area.

We really enjoyed our three night stay at Crinkly Cottage. Location was convenient being halfway between Otorohanga and Te Kuiti and close to Waitomo Caves. The farm location was an added bonus. Our hosts were very helpful, friendly and informative about things to do and places to visit. Crinkly Cottage is the best equipped B and B we have ever stayed at. We liked the seperate bedroom with space for suitcases and clothes, the mini kitchen with everything we needed including generous breakfast supplies and the comfy couch. The washing machine also came in handy.

Quiet peaceful spot close to cave attractions. They catered for allergy types. I was excited to see decaf coffee in the range. Great selection of cereals and spreads for breakfast with real butter and milk. We arrived late and the lights were on and door unlocked for us.

Well-Stocked Essentials: The cottage includes a helpful selection of first-aid and personal care supplies—such as cotton pads, cotton swabs, and some basic medications—showing impressive attention to guest needs. Rare Convenience – Two Luggage Racks: Unlike most accommodations we experienced throughout New Zealand, this cottage had two luggage racks, which makes complete sense for a space meant for two people. A small detail, but greatly appreciated. Good Value for Money: Compared to other accommodations in the Waitomo area, Crinkly Cottage offers competitive pricing with plenty of space and basic comforts.

Poor Placement of Bathroom Mirror: The mirror in the bathroom is not placed directly above the sink, making it awkward for typical routines like shaving or washing. Pillows: The available pillows were extremely soft and, for our preference, not comfortable. While some firmer pillows were available, they were missing pillowcases, which made them unsuitable for use. Cluttered Outdoor Area: Despite the rural charm, the surroundings of the cottage include scattered tools, tractors and machinery in a somewhat disorganized fashion, which detracts the visual appeal of the setting.

Much thought regarding comfort and safety has been made by the hosts.

If I could give 11/10, I would! This cottage was so comfortable and Paula had literally thought of everything. You could tell so much thought and care had gone into everything which was greatly appreciated. The hosts were super friendly (but gave us total privacy at the same time). The location was perfect for visiting the glow worm caves as it was only a short drive away. Would 100% recommend staying here!

Such a welcoming place to relax after driving fom Wellington and on a working farm too with interesting views of the countryside. The Cottage was well stocked with all a traveller required, with special touches including home-baked brownies, jams and preserves and small easter eggs. Enjoyed our provided breakfast.

Loved the fact that it was part of a farm that you could wander around.

Crinkly Cottage was an absolute delight to stay at. The cottage is very homely, with everything one could want. There was an abundant of food, coffee, medication if needed ... snacks, fruit, home baking - the lot. We loved our view over the farm and beyond. Took a bottle of wine and sat out under the mature tree and listened to and smelled the countryside in the mid summer late afternoon. Hosts were friendly - found time to chat and talk "farm" - it was awesome. Such a great find!

Lovely little cottage. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The continental breakfast was delicious with the addition of stewed peaches and homemade jams. Paula was excellent with her communication, and though we didn't get to meet her, as we were only there overnight, we felt very well provided for. I would recommend Crinkly Cottage, especially if visiting the Waitomo Caves. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Location was close to glow worms. Paula and her family were very accommodating, lots of gluten free breakfast options. Great experience being on a working farm.

Extra personal touches, such as homemade marmalade, jams and fruit. Delicious chocolate cookies. Bedding absolutely superb. We loved this little cottage. Owner gave us a corn on the cob to cook, it was tasty. We would recommend this cottage to everyone.

Comfortable & clean cottage which was well provisioned for continental breakfast. The Veranda out the front overlooked the rolling hills. Very quiet & relaxing location.
