Reviewed Sep 7, 2026La reception è disponibile ogni giorno, h 24, ed i ragazzi sono eccezionali! Gentili e amichevoli, mi hanno dato un sacco di consigli e hanno risposto a tutte le mie domande durante il mio soggiorno. La struttura è nuova, pulita ed accogliente. L'atmosfera è piacevole, giovanile e tranquilla. Per il mio soggiorno ho preso la stanza privata, che era spaziosissima e moderna. Letto e cuscini comodissimi. La prossima volta, però, data la cura della struttura, opterei con piacere per il letto in camera condivisa. La posizione è ottima, a due passi dalla fermata metro Omonia e ad altre fermate dei bus, comunque vicina alle attrazioni principali anche a piedi, con anche tanti locali e ristoranti nei dintorni. Certo, la zona non è delle più curate, ma è da considerare che certe realtà sono presenti nelle grandi città (degrado, gente senza tetto, uso di droghe per strada). Ad ogni modo, pur essendo una ragazza in viaggio da sola, non ho avuto alcuna esperienza spiacevole, nemmeno di ritorno dai locali la sera. Il soggiorno in questo ostello ha reso il mio viaggio in solitaria semplicemente perfetto.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026J’ai passé un très bon séjour dans cet hôtel en plein cœur d’Athènes. L’emplacement est vraiment pratique, à proximité du métro, des commerces et de nombreux endroits animés. L’accueil a été chaleureux et bienveillant, je me suis sentie à l’aise dès mon arrivée. J’ai dormi quelques nuits dans un petit dortoir avec des rangements, une salle de bain et des toilettes séparées, ce qui était vraiment pratique. Les chambres et les espaces communs sont propres et bien entretenus. Une bonne adresse pour séjourner à Athènes.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026Perfect! Common room and kitchen were super clean as well as the rooms. Location was good but like everywhere just be mindful. There was laundry for a cost. AC, internet and charging ports were good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. You do have curtains, a plus!

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Le personnel est très accueillant et à l'écoute en cas de besoin. La cuisine est bien équipée, nettoyée régulièrement et il y a plusieurs poubelles de tri. La chambre était équipée de deux douches, deux toilettes et deux lavabos. Le linge de lit et une serviette de bain étaient fournis. Il y a deux grands casiers, un sous le lit et l'autre qui se ferme à clé. La chambre avait un petit balcon.
Les douches n'étaient pas pratiques du tout, il n'y a pas d'endroit pour poser ses affaires à l'abri de l'eau, juste quelques crochets de porte-manteau. La rue est très bruyante et les chambres mal insonorisées, on entend beaucoup les bruits du dehors. Le quartier est un peu excentré et est très mal fréquenté (il y a des toxicos partout qui consomment de la drogue en plein jour devant tout le monde).

Large, cool design rooms with plenty of storage space (private locker and large drawer under the bed). 2 toilets and showers in a 8-persons dorm! Comfy beds and extremely friendly people at desk (thanks Joanna for the long chats ;) Very clean and beautiful kitchen. Loved the movie night on the terrace!
Please put some recycling bins in the rooftop common area and ideally also in the rooms :) A small shelf by the bed and some sunbeds on the terrace would be great, but that´s just being picky :)

The dorm room had two toilets and two separate showers for 8 people, which was ample. I liked the location which was convenient for food and transportation.

Hostel Atinada çok rahatsız edici bir bölgede. Hostele varana kadar en az 3-4 tane tekinsiz insanlar karşınıza çıkıyor. Üstelik idrar kokusu cabası. Konum olarak beğenmedim. Dikkatli olmanızda fayda var.. başıma bir şey gelmeden döndüm. Görevli arkadaşlara bir sözüm yok, gayet yardımseverlerdi.

Reviewed Jul 15, 2026It was clean, centrally located, and there were curtains around the bed, so you had a bit of privacy even in a shared room. The staff was very nice, and when I left my wallet in the lobby, they kept it safe and let me know via WhatsApp that it was secure. There was also a laundry room you could use, which was great for my backpacking trip. In the entrance area, there was a kitchen with a refrigerator where you could easily store food you couldn’t finish eating out.
It's very central, but close to Omonia, which is known for being a bit unsafe at night. Personally, though, nothing happened to me. It was also a bit of a hassle to share the air conditioning, since some people left it running nonstop for five days at 18°C—so I had to argue with my roommates, though it wasn't really the hostel's fault. I just didn't want to get sick from the AC.

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026Il serait important de donner des indications claires sur le trajet à prendre pour se rendre jusqu’à Retroverse. De l’aéroport jusqu’à chez vous, en indiquant aussi la sortie exacte du métro, soit Stadiou. Aussi, inclure le chemin en pointillé.
Attention, la clim des pièces communes s’avère parfois trop froide. J’ai attrapé un rhume.

Reviewed Jun 12, 2026Staying at Retroverse Eccentric was a great decision! 1. Amazing staff: Thanasis, Dimitris, Joanna, and Andreas. All four of them were equally amazing! 😊 Kind, helpful, and friendly. Nothing makes a stay better than great staff, especially when you're traveling alone. 2. Before check-in and after check-out, they allow you to leave your luggage in a locker free of charge (which is not the case in many hostels). 3. They offer free coffee, which is a nice bonus. 4. They provide a free towel. 5. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. 6. Each room has its own bathroom and toilet. 7. The beds have curtains for extra privacy (something many hostels don't offer). 8. The location is very convenient. It may not seem the safest area at first glance, but I never felt unsafe, and it's close to everything. Highly recommended!
A couple of small suggestions for improvement: It would be nice to have small shelves or stands next to the beds (near the reading lights) where guests could place their phones and chargers at night. Adding a few hangers inside the lockers (in the bedroom) would also be helpful. Nothing major, though—everything was very good! ❤️

Reviewed Jun 11, 2026Probably the cleanest hostel I’ve been in. You basically get a hotel quality of accommodation. Room had 2 showers and 2 toilets and it was extremely nice and clean. Casually met some great people. When I come back, I’m booking again for sure. Thanks a lot to Giorgios for being so kind and helping me out with everything :)

Rooms were small and toilet and shower doors lead directly into the room so a little too intimate, it was easy to hear strangers do their business which was uncomfortable.

Nice touches like the curtains around bed, and Geneva Guild soap etc. Staff were very helpful, and even helped plan out a day trip to the islands and gave excellent advice on using the ferries. I also loved the retro vibe as it was unique and would definitely stay again.
The area around the hostel felt a little sketchy.

Reviewed Jun 7, 2026מומלץ מאוד! פעם ראשונה שלי בהוסטל, ומאוד נהניתי. החדר נוח, נקי ושקט. המיטות מצוינות, הוילונות נותנים פרטיות. לוקרים גדולים בחדר נוחים לאחסון, שירותים ואמבטיה נקיים. מזגן מעולה! החדר נפתח בעזרת כרטיס מגנטי, אז זה מרגיש מאוד בטוח. המטבח למטה מצויד היטב (כולל תבלינים!) , צוות נחמד ועוזר, ובכללי מטיילים חמודים ואווירה טובה. יש פעילויות בערב למי שרוצה (כשאני הייתי היה ערב משחקי קופסה. Reviewed Jun 6, 2026I can't recommend it enough! It is exactly how shown in pictures. I stayed in the women only four-bedroom and it was perfect. Only had one roomie in the nights I stayed. The beds are comfortable, the locker is big enough, and has a shelf inside. The shower and toilet were separate, inside the room, very clean and practical. The room I stayed was very dark and silent at night. The kitchen is fantastic, with all household appliances you might need, 4 fridges to store your food, everything brand new. Every morning there's a cleaning crew who clean it (you're supposed to clean after yourself, but everyone know how that works, specially with young men). They even have washing and drying machines to do laundry (for a fee of 5 euros). The location is perfect, I went everywhere (Lycabethus Hill, Acropolis, National Gardens, etc) on foot and it's close to a subway station, which makes it easy coming and going from the airport. Absolutely perfect for my stay in Athens. (bonus, everything is old games themed, they even have three arcades!)

Reviewed Jun 3, 2026Bella struttura, camera spaziosa, arredata con gusto e pulita. Staff molto gentile e disponibile. Posizione comoda vicinissima alla fermata Omonia comoda per raggiungere aeroporto e Pireo. Molti bar e ristoranti nelle vicinanze.
La zona non è delle migliori, soprattutto di sera c’è molto degrado nei dintorni. Struttura un po’ costosa per quanto offerto.

The rooms weren’t cleaned daily. I think some fresh air in the morning or air freshener would be nice
