Everything
Nothing everything was great
Cosy and warm We had really cold weather and the fireplace worked wonderfully Kitchen is well equipped
Not that we didn't like it, but the stairs to the loft is quite steep... Just a heads up if you have any knee or hip issues
Its a nice, quint little place. Its so quiet and peaceful. The indoor fire place was lovely. The four legged inspector was a highlight. Came in and inspected that all was good and even decided to have a little lay down in the sun. Loved that! Im a big animal lover and was missing my babies at home. Definitely lifted my spirits.
The road was a bit tough to get to our cabin (Polo). We did struggle a bit to get up the steep hill but the view at the top was worth it. I definitely suggest some bug spray as there were definitely a lot of creepy crawlies that joined us. A bit disappointed with the coffee option that was available. We enjoy our coffee but a quick trip to Clay Cafe sorted our coffee fix.
Everything
Water shortages
The outlook from the deck was nice. The hot tub was good.
The sleeping area is in the apex of an A-frame cottage at the top of near-vertical, narrow stairs. You have to crawl into the bed and lie just under the roof. There is absolutely no comfortable furniture in the lounge area. No place to sit and read. Cheap plastic chairs and table for eating. No oven. If it rains, you are trapped.
The hot tub
I didn’t like anything. This is a horrible and dirty place.
The chalets were filthy. The bedding was not clean and smelled badly. The owner, Tim was so rude, he was even so drunk. When I was giving back his keys, his dog tried to attack me and he didn’t even stop the dog, my brother came to my rescue. There was also a strong odour in the chalet. Unprofessional owner. Also the stairs to what they call a bedroom are very steep, definitely a health hazard. Worst place ever. Unprofessional drunk owner
Tree Haven is absolutely amazing. You get to experience the tranquility of nature ,while getting a a comfortable cabin living experience. It’s exactly what one needs to get away from the busyness of the city
Nothing
The location was nice and quiet, the chalets give you the feeling of home away from home... Being there was just peaceful. We definitely enjoyed staying there.
The Wi-Fi connection was bad when your inside the chalet, it was only better when you on the front porch or the parking space.
The Hogsback experience
Place was dirty. The patio door was not cleaned in months The patio deck was filthy. There was no mop and broom available. The stairs to the bedroom area very steep and not suitable for over 45 year old.No garbage removal Fridge is only a bar fridge. Not worth the money I paid. Much better accomodation available for less. Overpriced. The parking area was muddy and no sufficient gravel was placed. The braai was filthy and rusted.
I liked everything about the place and it’s very relaxing.
Everything was awesome except the privacy
No privacy around the hot tub when other cabins have guests, focus on growing more bush for privacy
The location is beautiful, and the hot tub is an added bonus, especially when the weather isn't that great.
Nothing
The location was great!
Maybe some more hooks to hang up clothes?
Peaceful, quiet setting. Lots of comfort furniture and warming devices. Host is very accommodating and doesn't break the privacy factor. I'd definitely go back.
Not really anything I didn't like.
Richard was very helpful. Lovely setting.
The staircase to sleeping area was steeper than I expected. Difficult for bathroom visits at night.
Very scenic and quiet place
A delightful A-frame retreat, perfect for a quick and peaceful escape. There’s nothing quite like a cozy fire to warm up a chilly winter evening.
The location is great, the cottage we stayed in was absolutely breathtaking and the staff/owner/manager was so accommodating and kind. I'd definitely go back.
Enjoyed the secluded place for me and my lady.
We had a fabulous stay in the Maple Cabin at Treehaven Retreat. The Cabin was cozy and perfect for a romantic couples getaway! Even though it was freezing outside, we were warm and snug inside at night with the indoor fireplace going and comfy bed upstairs. Awesome fire-heated hot tub on the deck and situated in a beautiful place. Loved that there was no TV inside, and we got to enjoy each other's company. Great wifi signal at the cabin and all the basic amenities you need for a lovely stay, including a hot shower! Thank you for a wonderful stay. 🙏🏻
I liked the ambience, tranquility and the location.
We didn't have hot water on the last day.
Everything was 10/10 , great host , the cabin had everything you need for a comfortable stay . I recommended the place to 3 people within the first 15 minutes of being there. Highly recommend .
The accomodation is beautiful with great views. Clean and neat. Equipped with essentials suitable for a self-catering weekend stay. The facility manager RIchard was also amazing showed us all we needed to know on arrival and was helpful whenever we needed something.
The parking at our accommodation was quite steep making it a bit of a mission when we have to go out, making turns and all. But we managed.
I stayed at Treehaven Retreat from in April 2025 and had a truly rejuvenating solo getaway. What stood out most was the abundance of firewood that kept the place warm and welcoming, adding to the already cozy charm of the space. The host, Richard, was incredibly hospitable and made the experience feel personal and cared for.
If I had one caution, it would be the steep stairs to the loft bed—they were quite tricky to navigate, especially when tired. Something to be aware of, particularly for those with mobility concerns. Overall, I would definitely recommend Treehaven Retreat to nature lovers, solo travelers, and couples looking for a serene, off-the-grid experience. It’s a perfect spot to breathe deeply and slow down.
Very peacefull and quiet getaway, especially with the hot tub as a feature
Neat, Clean, Fresh Bedding and Modern. Loved the Fire place inside. Warms up the place so nice. Loved the Privacy.
The tranquility
Nothing
Honestly, I can't fault it.My stay was very nice. I feel like going back again.definitely recommend this to anyone out there it does not disappoint.peace and tranquility thumbs up. To throw in an extra, the hot tub...
Everything is amazing with the property
Nothing
The place was beautiful, exactly like the photos.
nothing.
Remote location in Hogsback in newly built cottages.
The geyser failed every day because of a lack of pressure. The staircase is the most unpractical I ever experienced, it is too small and the angle completely wrong to get to the bedroom upstairs.
Stairs to loft is too steep Sleeper couch is horrible
Really friendly people who are willing to go the extra mile. Really relaxing setting
It’s so cozy and very modern I love everything about the place
Treehaven Retreat is clean and very comfortable. Their rainshower is refreshing after a long day at Hogsback long walking trails. The beds are comfortable ,we had peaceful sleep. The gas stove cooks very fast💯❤️.This is a place to reconnect with nature. The mountains and greenery are refreshing. One of the nights was cold so we used the fireplace, very warm and we enjoyed complimentary cookies by Treehaven Retreat. I booked January because I wanted to just rest and recover after the festive season. We were able to engage in different activities thanks to our host :Tim and Natalie,we appreciate you. We went to 39step waterfall (madonna and child falls) which is mentally and physically challenging . We enjoyed horseriding, archery and took long walks . The people were quite friendly.....
The wifi or network reception was a problem during our stay . The roads of Hogsback 🤐. If possible drive a bigger car, I struggled with my Polo Hatchback, mainly because I'm not used to driving on gravel road and because of the rain,it was very slippery.
The cottage was nice and cosy for with great views and amenities for a mountain gateaway for two. Tim (the host) was super friendly and helpful whenever we called on him.
It was clean, thoughtful finishes, comfortable yet a bit of luxury, well kitted with all that one could need! Tim and Natalie were so wonderful, accommodating and welcoming, loved our stay!
Beautiful, clean, fresh and perfect location. Waking up to the sound of birds calling every day, so tranquil and peaceful. Great quality bedding and towels......tastefully furnished. Well equipped with all you'll need during your stay. The hosts are amazing, always ready to assist and recommend things to do in the area. Will definitely be back again 5stars
Nothing to complain about
Everything from when we arrived was perfect 😁
the hot tub
1. furniture uncomfortable 2. it is not for big people or older people. 3. if you stay longer than 2 night the fridge to small. 4. shower is to small 5. when people go and stay anywhere and you pay you need comfort, nothing is comfortable in that cottage.
The location is absolutely beautiful and the cabin had a very nice home feeling which is peaceful. We loved the wood fire hot tub and Sue was really great checking in often making sure our stay was good and she put flowers around the house to make it even more special and a bottle of champagne and some chocolates.
Perfect view, very clean and modern. Perfect romantic getaway. Awesome hostess…
None, Loved everything
Beautiful accomodation, and the wood fired hot tub is amazing.
