Loved the warm cottage feel
Was a bit disappointed that we couldn't use the fireplace
Nice place and owner was very helpful. Appreciated that the cottage was warm when we arrived on a chilly day. Good parking
Reasonable cost. Had everything we needed.
Needs a new lounge.
Loved the location and the historical feel about the place. The garden view was nice and private.
Sometimes, during the night, the train that would go passed quite abruptly. Not for too long, but it did wake you up.
Lovely central cottage with charm.
Sofas mended with thick black tape, kitchen chairs covered in old disintegrating vinyl. Single beds very uncomfortable and spare chairs in the bedroom stained. Fireplace shelf was thick with dust.
Mr. John Allan was a wonderful host. He provided clear instructions for check in which made the process super easy and he kindly arranged an earlier check in for us. The house was clean ,tidy and had everything we needed. We didn't encounter any issues upon our stay and indeed we loved our stay at Mr. John's place. The location was really convenient and close to everything. The place is super comfortable, clean, peaceful and safe. Thank you so much and would highly recommend this place.
Was a lovely comfy home away from home and central to everything in the city.
Cottage de style entouré de verdure, tres tranquille. John est tres réactif à toutes les demandes.Nous sommes ravies d y avoir passé nos derniers jours en nouvelle Zélande.
The shower & the property location
The “taped” lounge suite - this is not okay, the very uncomfortable single beds, the pathetic pillows on the single beds, the dirty laundry, that there was no daily linen changing & when I did ask for new towels the comment was “I’ll see what I can do”
Cute, cosy, charming - loved everything about it
Nothing, it was gorgeous
We stayed in 10 different properties during a 3 week tour of the North and South islands. This was the most welcoming with a couple of lights and the TV left on. I had one query of the cottage manager by email and he replied very promptly. The cottage is really well equipped and the location could not be better.
It was close to central Christchurch .
Broken and ripped items repaired with duct tape. - Fridge, settees. It is immediately next door to the train line and there were only a few trains. Light ones were not problematic but a heavy train at 5.00 in the morning felt like it was coming through the wall. It would be great for backpackers but not for people expecting a little more from their accommodation.
Quaint little place handy to all city experiences
Garden and some equipment a little run down
Very Unfortunately we didn’t like anything about the property except its quiet location. We were so much looking forward to staying at this property as it’s advertised as beautiful with old world charm but sadly it was quite the opposite upon arrival and we booked for 2 nights and had no choice but to leave after the first night. It just was not up to cleanliness standard. Upon contacting John and explaining our reason for leaving he refunded our second night which was our request, and he was very obliging.
Upon entry, property smelt like it had been closed up for months and months, very musty and very dusty. Very unclean with dust everywhere, linen dirty with food stains on bedspread, pillowslips dirty, oven very dirty, cups with tea stains, frypan dirty and kitchen utensils dirty, very mouldy dusty curtains in main bedroom, no windows would open in main bedroom, one fluoro light above sink in bathroom - no other lighting so couldn’t shower at night due to inadequate lighting. I read such good reviews about this property before booking and so I’m really surprised how people gave a 10/10 experience? What went wrong? How could we experience the total opposite? It doesn’t make sense? Bushes overgrown and couldn’t park completely in driveway due to not being able to open doors to get out. Property needs a good renovation and thorough clean. Was very disappointing. We paid price for the first night as we had a bed to sleep in upon arrival late afternoon and shower in the morning but it was not a nice experience. Please change your cleaning and maintenance contractors to get the property up to a standard that guests would expect. Cleanliness is key. Thank you to John the account manager we rang to advise our concerns and who refunded our second nights stay. So sorry but we won’t be staying there again. House Needs a lot of attention
beautiful cottage. An oasis amongst the boring modern inner city flats.
Very leafy surroundings, giving the cottage a rustic feel.
Nothing
Wunderschönes Cottage mit Charme
Eine Schlafzimmertür ließ sich nicht schließen
Home away from home with everything you could possibly need. Will definitely be back. Close to everything we were visiting and at the end of a cult de sac so very quiet apart from the occasional train that went past.h
That we were only staying 2 nights.
Beautiful, comfortable house. Everything you need. Beautifully decorated.
Nothing
Lovely property. Comfortable and warm
Excellent location for both Rugby and Cricket. Parking on driveway and immediately outside on street. Charming cottage in a lovely neighborhood. Good communication with owner.
Sadly all the shelves in the lovely large fridge were cracked - one had already been removed on arrival. Only the draw shelf was usable. Both sofas had their cushions (4) duct taped from end to end which then rolled over and left a sticky residue on clothes when sat on.
Cute
The bed was uncomfortable!
Great location. Easy ,30 min walk to the main centre of Christchurch through the lovely gardens. Comfy beds. Awesome hot shower with great water pressure. Plenty of seats as well as dining table. Outdoor seating. Would stay again. Close easy 15 minute walk to main street of Riccarton.. only 7km approx from airport. 4 adults had plenty of room and space.
Location was great, loved the garden and particularly was very grateful for the laundry. thank you we enjoyed our stay.
Cute property with lots of character, yet despite it’s age was well-appointed with a great shower and all necessary appliances.
Nothing - we visited in summer, so temperature wasn’t an issue as it might have been in winter.
Bedding all needed washed sheets were very very old . 1 of the beds was not fit for sleeping in. Needed all new bedding including pillows and duvets. Disgraceful.
Breakfast - n/a Handy location Easy to find

Cozy little cottage in a very handy spot. Modernised interior was nice. Yard was abit overgrown but gave a nice rainforest feel.
Fantastic all round
Close to gardens
We had just done 11 nights in a motorhome and thoroughly enjoyed the space & comfort of this beautiful home. Very well appointed and conveniently located to Wolfbank Arena. Highly recommend to anyone wanting comfortable and clean accommodation.
Cute cottage, location was great. Walking distance to central Christchurch.
Great central location - with parking. Inside the cottage was clean and tidy - kitchen was fully kitted out if you wanted to cook.
Nothing.
Cute historic cottage, very handy location near Hagley Park. Comfy bed, powerful heat pump.
Sofas are past their best. Train is very close by so that was a good early morning alarm clock!
It is a nice comfortable property sufficiently big for a family of 4. The bedrooms are decently big with comfortable beds & other utilities incl heaters in all rooms & other furnishing etc. The rest rooms incl living, dinning & kitchen are spacious, well furnished and well stocked with all one would need for a comfortable few days stay. The location is excellent too very close by to the city center. The house has its own private parking space although it being a close ended street, parking on the front of the road is also not an issue. Special mention to the host who was super responsive & proactive in all communications well in time. The house has a nice classic feel to it and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly there. Highly recommended.
Nothing really most of it was great, just a small thing though the garden does need some trimming & cleanup :)
Location perfect for town, botanical Gardens and eateries. Cosy cottage, comfortable beds.
Bit lacking in kitchenware. Second bedroom window locked shut so no air.
Facilities are comfortable, especially the bathroom.
The host didn't provide any instructions for how to check in, how to check out, or access the wifi. We ended up knocking on a neighbour's door to get access to their wifi to check for an email (none was sent). We let them know we'd be arriving after dark and the front light was not switched on, making it even more difficult to locate the key or even be sure we were at the right address. When we finally discovered where the key was by chance, there was no information inside the house on how to access the wifi or check out. The business cards only had a contact number which was out of service.
Location was ideal, right near Harley Park but in a quiet lovely little street. The place itself was delightful - charming, comfortable, well appointed. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Took us a minute to find the place, but just a minute.
Beautiful and very cozy cottage. Inside, the cottage is more spacious than it looks from the outside. It is lovingly furnished, well equipped and very clean. There is a lovely terrace behind the house. We walked into town from here because the path - although a bit longer - leads through beautiful parks. We really enjoyed our stay.
Fantastic location, charming cottage, excellent hosts. Perfect for a small family, group of friends, or a couple wanting a bit more room than a standard hotel.
Nothing, leaving?
Very nice and friendly with excellent location , very convenient to shopping and visiting
No
The cottage is a very nice comfortable mix of antique charm and modern functionality. It felt homey and was very clean. It is about a 20 to 30 minute walk through the park and botanical gardens to the downtown area. The property manager, John, was very prompt to reply to our queries.
Great location on the edge of the park and very central. Great bathroom and kitchen!
You can hear the trains in the morning - use earplugs.
We felt at home! Beautiful renovated cottage with everything we needed! John, the host, was very helpful.
Gorgeous cottage, good location, with everything we needed for our stay. The arrangements put in place by John (the host) made everything easy.
Good location. Nice character
Nothing really. Only advice would be have more quality tea bags and perhaps a Nespresso machine. Maybe good to tidy up garden for sitting outside.
Handy location close to what we had planned
It would have been good to have warning about the proximity of the railway line.
It was toasty warm when we arrived - with even the electric blankets switched on. Very welcoming after a long flight and a cold night
Wish we had known it was next to the train line. It wasn’t an issue - but we did freak out a bit as we didn’t know what the noise was at first. It didn’t disturb us at all once we knew what it was
Great location, very cosy house. New kitchen and bathroom facilities, comfortable beds. Would definitely book here again!
The location was great, great value for money. It was comfortable and had everything we needed.
I like everything about this awesome cottage, so cozy and original. It was warm when we arrived, very clean and beautifully decorated. It really was a pleasant surprise when we enter it.
That I stayed only for 2 nights.
Cute, clean, nice interior
couch was a bit uncomfortable
Location was fabulous. The cottage was lovely , clean and comfortable.
Stayed there with my family and it feels like home. Quiet place to relax after long trip. John, the host, is very welcoming and informative. Thanks for your hospitality John.
Everything it offers is top.
Great to walk into a warm, well lit home
The house and the green garden around it are beautiful. The property is close to the city center. The kitchen is big and the cooktop was easy to use.
This was a perfect location for parking our car and walking to the city. Only a 20 min. walk to center of Queenstown. The host was personal and the cottage has been nicely renovated. You would not know that from the outside, but inside was very nice. We would certainly recommend this to anyone!
This may seem picky, but it seems that not many places stock paper towels in the kitchen. It would be nice to include this, as it would make it much easier for travelers. :-)
The location is excellent. Comfortable cottage with good size rooms and outdoor space.
Good location.
Well set up cottage with lots of room. Nice outdoor setting out of the sun. Not too far to walk to the Riverside Market. Easy access to Tower Junction.
Very brief noise from the nearby train line.
The cottage is in a brilliant location. We love being able to walk through the park into town. The kitchen is well good to cook in. The rooms are light and comfortable.
Loved this quaint little cottage so close to Hagley Park, the airport and other attractions in the central city
Lovely villa, warm and comfortable.
Being by the train track although I only heard the trains the first night. Not loud but just a strange noise for me.
Great location
The exterior could use a large clear up.
Great location. Close to the train station, parks, CBD, shops and restaurants. No through traffic so very quiet. Private backyard. Just a lovely place to stay in Christchurch
The heritage home was adorable and location great.
Could have stayed a little longer.
Great location and a lovely homely feel. Nice to have use of the washing machine and dryer as well.
The doors were quite noisy- especially with a sleeping child who we were trying to not to wake.
comfortable, warm, clean
bit close to rail line
It was truly a home away from home
Great location
